Marvelous Ma-litteration

Hey guys!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Be sure to head on over to Katie’s blog and see how everyone else’s was!

I have to admit, mine got off to a pretty rough start, but thankfully I’m the type of person who can see the positives in things…well, after I get a good #%@& session in, anyways.

But I think it was justified after this juxtaposition…

ElviraI know…AGAIN?!

I’m seriously beginning to think there is a target on my back! 🙁

Allow me to paint the picture for you…

It’s 7am…I just got off work…I’m sitting at an intersection right outside the hospital waiting to make a left turn…there’s a car directly across from me waiting to turn left as well…it’s rainy and traffic is steady…it looks like I might be there for a while…

IMG_1182

Across the street car decides that he will make his left hand turn…nevermind the fact that a CAR IS COMING DOWN THE HIGHWAY!!

IMG_1177

First, the car hits him…then she spins out of control, sliding sideways across the intersection…I see her coming straight at me, but there is no time!

Elvira Broken Heart

My melancholy mistress

Luckily, she had lost most of her moment as she was sliding across the street, but it did end up doing enough damage to my tire/wheel that the car was un-driveable. But you wanna know the silver lining?

Remember back a few months ago when Elvira had some bad luck involving a decrepit tow truck? Well, the front bumper was left a total mess after that (honestly it looked like she’d been attacked my an army of metal-eating rodents)…

IMG_1180

Well, guess who’s getting a NEW front bumper?! 😉

Also, I just have to say that I have one of the BEST insurance agents out there! I called him as soon as the accident happened and he got to work setting up everything I needed to get a rental and even drove to the scene and picked me up! He took me back to his office, filed the claim for me (as I sat in a chair in a zombie-like stupor), and then drove me across town to pick up the rental car!

IMG_1188

A Chevy Captiva.

Don’t let that snazzy silver finish mislead you…she’s really just a glorified golf cart!

BUT…

IMG_1197

She comes with FREE satellite radio!!!

Oh, and another good thing?

IMG_1212

She gets REALLY good gas mileage!

Which is GREAT when you hit the road Thursday afternoon, meet up with the man-friend and a few hours later find yourself in the company of some great Atlanta bloggers and a hot and spicy dinner!

IMG_1217

I was fortunate enough to be included in the Atlanta blogger meet up with Lee, Heather, Alayna, Stacy, and LAURA on Thursday night at Desta, a local Ethiopian restaurant.

The man-friend and I arrived a bit late, but were able to catch the girls about halfway through their meal. We both ordered the vegetarian sampler plate and everything (though I have no idea what most of it was) was absolutely delicious! 😉

It was so so great to meet all these wonderful ladies…great conversation, a bunch of laughs, and just the beginning to a

MAGNIFICENT AND MARVELOUS MWEEKEND! 😉

IKEA

Frolicking in furniture slash food photography fun land…

Buford Farmers Market

Being captivated by the culinary contraptions of other countries…

Farmers Market Samples

Savoring samples of sweet, sour, and spicy…

Atlanta Food

And diving headfirst into some of the most dreamy and desirable dishes!

Which you’ll just have to wait until Wednesday to witness!

Ok, I’m gonna stop now before one of you reaches through the screen and slaps me! 😉

What was the most marvelous moment in your weekend?
Sorry, I couldn’t resist! Lol

So fun you got to go to the ATL blog meet up! All the food on instagram you were sharing looked amazing! Can’t wait to see the post with details!

    Happy monday love! <3

  2. I’m glad you weren’t hurt in the accident and that you are looking at the positives about it. (: All of those samples look delicious!

  3. Major bummer about the accident, BUT I’m glad you’re okay and you were able to have a great weekend regardless! 🙂

  4. So sorry to hear about your car accident!! At least you’re ok!! Least your weekend got a bit better after that 🙂 your eats look super yummy + the farmers market looks like great fun!

  5. Lee says:

Haha, I totally have a picture of that Cock soup too. They have it at Kroger, oddly enough. So nice to meet you this weekend.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

It gets me every time! Just like whenever I see the “spotted dick” at World Market! Yeah, I have the mind of a teenage boy! Lol

I’m so glad that we finally got a chance to meet! Hopefully we can hang out on my next visit too!

  6. Omg!! I’m glad you are okay! Accidents are nooooo fun. But, at least blogger meet-ups are!! 😀

  7. At least even a car accident can have a silver lining. I’m glad you had an awesome weekend despite how it started!

  8. Come baaaaaaack every weekend! 🙂

Dude. How did I miss the cock soup?! And is it weird I can’t wait to read more about the food on Wednesday, even though I ate it with you? Haha! Love you!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Dude. I SERIOUSLY need a teleportation device! And apparently the ability to freeze time in general sense I’m JUST NOW replying to this comment over a week later! #bloggerfail

  9. Kat @ Laura's Sprint2theTable says:

OMG. You have a great sense of humor! It was fun to see you last week! Glad you had a great trip to Atl!

  10. UGH on the accident but yes, happy YOU are OK!!!!!! I kept seeing the Instgram pics of your meet up & looked like so much fun!!!!

For me this weekend, feeling better after round 2 of the flu BUT it came in different forms. Be careful! 🙂 Also my weekend treat cookie! 🙂

  11. I did feel bad about your accident until I saw all the food porn, Ikea and Ethiopian food. Now I’m just salivating. I’ve only had Ethiopian food a handful of times (handful, get it because you eat with your hands), but it was delicious.

And what exactly does the #%@& stand for in “after I get a good #%@& session in.” I have so many ideas, none of which are appropriate for this blog, but highly entertaining.

  12. Sorry about the car. I’m glad you’re ok though. Looks like you had an incredible weekend! I’m happy that you got to get away and have some fun despite the crappy end of the week!

  13. Lucie says:

Jeeeez, I am so glad you are ok.
So great you got to meet the blogger ladies!! Sounds like a fun night. And these De Ruyter sprinkles??? My childhood memory! We grew up together with a Dutch family and they always brought them home from Holland. My breadslices were ‘towered’ with them.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks doll! This was the first I’d ever seen of putting sprinkles on bread! I laughed at first, until I remembered how my grandmother would make us sugar toast sometimes instead of cinnamon toast…all it was was sugar colored with food coloring and sprinkled over buttered bread! I swear I used to LOVE that stuff!

  14. Yuck! Car accidents are the worst- especially when they’re not your fault! I’ve been in like, 10, and only one of them was my fault. I’m so sorry, and I’m glad you’re okay!

I spent the weekend in NYC celebrating me the the beau’s anniversary, saw 2 concerts, made some new friends, hung out with a bestie, went to the museum of natural history, ate lots of good food, and finally went to my local Trader Joe’s. Weekend for the win! 😉

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ahh, it’s so nice to hear from someone else who has rotten luck when it comes to driving! I think I’ve probably had about that many accidents too…I swear I’m gonna start looking into affixing some sort of bumper-car bumpers to the outside of my car! Lol

Sounds like you had a MARVELOUS weekend! I’ve always wanted to visit NYC!

  15. I’m so glad you weren’t hurt in the accident though it must have been a huge shock!

Can I say I’m still surprised by the fact you’d never been to IKEA before? Well, I bet you’ll make up for it now, huh?

Thanks for addressing the grammar nerd in me – aaaah, alliterations ;).
The most marvelous moment of my weekend must have been dancing with my dad at a party my mum organized with friends. Not disco dancing but mostly standard. My parents are avid dancers so my dad managed to hide the fact that I have two left feet when it comes to dancing.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, I know right? I’ve seriously been dreaming of going back since we left! We were in there for about three hours but I swear we only saw like HALF the store! Lol

I wish I knew how to dance…unfortunately, I have the rhythm of a stick! haha!

  16. Ahh that sucks about the accident! Man, you’ve had rotten luck with cars lately. 😛 I’m glad it wasn’t anything more serious and that you’re okay though!

And at least the rest of your weekend made up for it though. I’m really intrigued by your Ethiopian dinner – I’ve always wanted to try that cuisine!

  17. So glad you are and your car will be okay! I am seriously looking forward to seeing all your amazing eats on Wednesday, although I admittedly already drooled over most of them on Instagram. 😉

  18. Sloane says:

I’m so sorry you got in an accident! I’ve been there. A lot. My car’s had more repairs than its worth I’m pretty sure. Definitely a sucky feeling, but I’m glad you coult turn it around.
I’m so jealous of your weekend in Atlanta! Are you from Tennessee?? What part? I’ve been DYING to find some blog friends closeby!
The ethiopian restaurant sounds fabulous, and so does your night out with Laura. Have a great week 🙂
PS I’m drooling over your Ginger Pear Pancakes. I literally could die.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yes ma’am! I live in Clarksville…it’s about an hour northwest of Nashville. And well…since I just blog-stalked you, I see you live in Chattanoogy! Man, we JUST drove through there on our trip to/from Atlanta! Wish I had known! Give me a shout if you ever find yourself up this way! We could do lunch!

PS, I have seriously been dying since the first bite! If it weren’t for the other pancake recipes that I’m working on now, I’d have made these at least half a dozen more times by now! lol

  19. I’m glad you are ok!!! Gah I hate accidents, my car has been through a lot and comes out alive with a scratch or nothing lol. Hope it gets well soon 🙂 MY weekend sucked, but this weekend should be fun!

  20. Thank goodness you’re okay! Ugh, scary stuff!!!
I’m so glad you had fun in ATL – and got to hang out with such fabulous ladies and eat such yummy food!

  21. So jealous of your Atlanta trip! [But goodness knows, you deserve it.]

I don’t know what I did without Sirius XM. However, I only listen to Cosmo Radio + The Highway (Country) for the most part. It still makes every drive OK.

  22. Jessie says:

So glad you are okay girl && now will be rocking a fancy car with satellite radio.
…. okay this may be the little immature kid inside me, but I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw the “Cock soup mix”, Ha Ha 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks girlie! I’ve definitely been rocking out (and maybe playing a bit of steering wheel guitar) over the last week! 😉

And seriously? That’s the ONLY reason I took a picture of it! Just like when I go to World Market and see the “spotted dick”…gets me EVERY time! Bahaha!

  25. Oh, wow! You had a big day! That car accident sounds so scary 🙁 But it’s good that your insurance agent was really nice and took care of you… from what I’ve heard, it definitely doesn’t always turn out like that.
