Currently: April

Happy Sunday peeps!

Yeah, yeah, yeah…I know…it’s MAY!

But I could never skip out on the opportunity to tell you guys about my latest and greatest obsessions! PLUS it’s Friday and I got called into work (it happens) and we’re a little slow at the moment. So here you have it, another monthly recap…five days late! πŸ˜‰

Current Book:

I FINALLY finished Intuitive Eating…now I’m just trying to decide if I want to read it again or get back to bonding with my fellow zombies! πŸ˜‰ By the way, would you guys be interested in a review of the IE book?

Current Music:

I’ve been listening to the Collective Soul station on Pandora and reliving all the precious music memories from my youth all month…Bush, Hootie & the Blowfish, Incubus, Garbage, and one of my forgotten favorites…

Let’s just say it’s been downloaded to the iPod and played on repeat multiple times over the last couple of weeks!

Current Guilty Pleasure:

Shopping Bargains10 for $10, coupons, manager’s specials…bring.it.ON…we won’t talk about the fact that I no longer have ANY room in my fridge OR my pantry whatsoever! πŸ˜‰

Current Nail Color:

Oh my god, can you believe this…they’re naaaaaaaaked! 😯

Current Drink:

Coffee

Like hot buttery syrup…in a CUP!!

Current Food:

Currently April

When it hasn’t been leftovers it’s beenΒ eggs,Β cheese, andΒ cereal…colorful, sugary, oh-my-god-childhood-nostalgia cereal…oh yeah, and some cracktastic coconut yogurt! πŸ˜‰

Current Favorite Show:

Not a thing. I actually cancelled my Netflix subscription a few weeks ago since I wasn’t really watching anything anyway. Just means I have more money to spend on FOOD, right?

Current Wish List:

Even though I’ve been off for nearly two months, the thing I wish for the most is a warm sandy BEACH to stick my toes into AND I’m happy to say that, with the help of the man-friend, this could be happening within a MONTH!

Current Needs:

IMG_3844

A massage (desperately), a pony (always), oh and a new lamp! Lack of sleep and my never-ending clumsiness do NOT mix! :*(

Current Triumphs:

Seriously, April was MY MONTH as far as progress in physical therapy for my knee! I went from strictly pool therapy, to the bike, to the treadmill, to my latest accomplishment…STAIRS!! I’m still not 100% but I’m definitely getting there!
Woo hoo, jumping jacks are in sight! πŸ˜€

Current Bane of Existence:

For the ENTIRE month of April, I battled against a pair of rather loud and annoying birds hell-BENT on creating a nest on top of my porch light…

Bird's NestRemember mine and the man-friend’s trip to the dollar store last weekend? Well, that visit was for a very specific purpose…

DSC_0001_2

Ha! Take that bitches birdies!

Current Celebrity Crush:

Hmmmm, gonna have to go with RDJ on this once since I’m SUPERFLIPPINEXCITED about and can’t wait to see the new Iron Man movie!

Current Indulgence:

TJ Maxx

I think it’s safe to say this needs no explanation. πŸ˜‰

Current Blessing:

All the endless support that I’ve gotten from you guys in my journey with Intuitive Eating. Seriously, I KNOW I would not have been able to go through all the ups and downs without you and for that, I am blessed more than words can express!

xoxox

Current Slang:

Sorry, still sailorin’ away! πŸ˜‰

Current Outfit:

Β Oh my god, can you believe this…I’m naaaaaaaaked! 😯

Ok, so maybe I’m in my scrubs, but since I don’t feel like taking a picture, I had to have something “graphic” for ya!

Current Excitement:

385332_10101111581603378_1559156152_nBlennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd in less than TWO WEEKS!!

Current Link:

Love, love, LOVIN’ me someΒ BlogLovin’!

Current Mood:

Congratulatory…

Because Jenny was named the winner of the SlimKicker Giveaway! Be on the lookout for an email from me soon, girlie! I want to thank you guys for entering…the ideas you came up with were all SO creative! I definitely recommend checking out those comments if you’re looking for a great way to challenge yourself!

Tell me, what are a few of your “currents” from April?

  1. I am so clumsy too! Last night I hit my head on the fridge door then later hit my head on the bed side table, not even sure how I managed it!

I’ve got a peachy/nude colour on my nails it is a shellac colour I had put on 2 weeks ago but it is starting to peel so I really need to change them. I’m obsessed with Daft Punk’s new song Get Lucky. I’m reading ‘If I Stay’ by Gayle Forman for the PB Fingers book club. I’m still obsessed with eating bircher muesli everyday for breakfast πŸ™‚

  2. I would love to read a review on the IE book! I started reading the book, but for some reason I feel scared to fully dive into IE. My hunger cues are virtually non existent, so I’m scared I will never eat!
I’m glad I’m not the only clumsy one as well!
Oh how I dream of coming to America and delighting in all the cereals and yogurt….

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I will definitely work on posting the review soon, but I just want you to know that they touch on the lack of hunger cues in the chapter covering eating disorders toward the end of the bok. They don’t go into a LOT of detail I think because they assume that most people will be working one on one with a counselor of some sort, but I think when it comes down to breaking into your intuitiveness in the beginning, you can’t really trust your body to tell you when you are hungry all the time. That’s when you should think a little about the science of how our bodies break down food…it typically takes our livers 3-4 hours to deplete itself of gyclogen stores so you don’t want to go much longer without having anything to eat…otherwise your blood sugar can get all out of whack! Even if it’s just a little snack…something is better than nothing!

  3. Seriously, when I read the title, I thought you accidentally uploaded a post from last month (and the thought went on with ‘was she drinking?’) πŸ™‚ I love Currently-posts and I think it’s wonderful that you made such huge progress in IE and with your knee!!
I am naked too currently. Errr, my nails, sorry. When getting a light yellow touch, I thought my nails desperately need some air and light, poor things!! πŸ™‚
Current indulgence: I broke the challenge on Friday and was all over your package, haha πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hahaha!! Yeah, I just couldn’t resist doing the currently thing…it’s so much fun to look back and see what all I was “crazy” about for the last 30 days…and even more fun to see how they change from month to month!

Aww, yay!! I’m so glad you’re liking your goodies! Can you believe I’m almost OUT of OvoMaltine?! Well, actually…you know how crackilious that stuff is, so I’m sure you totally get it! πŸ˜‰

  4. I can’t wait for blend! can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!!! πŸ™‚

  5. Lee says:

Liz Phair’s Whitechocolatespaceegg was one of my favorite CDs when I was in college. I wish I was going to Blend.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, I wish you were too girlie! It’s seriously so amazing to hang out with everyone without the pressure of schedules/speeches like most conferences! Maybe next year?

  6. I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the IE book! Like I’ve said before, I found it really helpful back in the day.

My nails are naked too…I think I need to change that soon.

  7. Is that a fake snake that you placed on the patio porch light?! lol. Did it work?

It’s awesome to hear about how much progress you’ve made with your knee already. Good for you! Jumping jacks are around the corner, I can feel it.

I’m getting so freakin’ excited about Blend, I can barely handle it. Wahoo!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yes ma’am! And it TOTALLY worked! It’s been up for over TWO WEEKS now and I haven’t seen a single bird even close to my front porch! Muahaha! I win!! πŸ˜€

  8. haha awwww that lamp!!! Idk why but the picture makes me giggle a little. That stinks. Also, coconut yogurt? Ummm, I need it.

  9. The picture of that lamp is tragic! I just want to give it a hug. I also have a mad crush on RDJ; why can’t I have mad crushes on real life people!?!

  10. Fran@BCDC says:

I’m with you on being clumsy and loving RDJ. I would love to hear a review of Intuitive Eating. I think I do that anyway, but I’m not sure. I vote Yes!!

  11. Oh my gosh, LOVE the birdie guard. Hilarious!!
And I’m on the same train with the massage need. It’s been months since my last one. Also, Blend. Can’t wait!!!

  12. I would love a review of the IE book! My back light always has a birds nest on it in the spring and I’m always freaked out one of the babies is going to fall when learning to fly and Bentley will get to it.

  13. Gaah; too jealous of your physical therapy progress/prowess! You can treadmill??? I’ve been at this for over a month, to no (running-related) avail…can you, like, will me some of your skills? πŸ˜‰ Congrats, though; puh-lease let everyone know what it’s like to get back to running after an injury! I’m worried the embarrassment over the utter loss of skill might be more painful than the injury :/…
Also, I literally squinted at that plastic snake for a full minute before I finally realized what it was! ;P It looked like a colorful back-scratcher from where I…never mind. I think I need to start getting more sleep…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh honey! Hahaha! I totally know delirium when I see read it! Hopefully you’ve gotten some rest by now…maybe fueling up with the Banana S’mores pancakes helped? πŸ˜‰

I will DEFINITELY do my best to will my skills over to you! Us hobblies gotta stick together! And at this point, I’m just glad to be moving…I don’t care WHAT I look like once I get back out there! It’s all about progress now…no comparing myself to the past!

  14. I want a pony too!!! And a massage. And a beach.

So happy for your knee’s progress. You’re going to be unstoppable very soon!!! xoxo

  15. Whenever I think of Bush and Incubus, I think of Goo Goo Dolls and I remember seeing them play in a church basement for like $5. Ah, good times. I’m glad to hear you knee is doing better than swimmingly. Stairs..now that’s impressive. I love the idea of using a snake to scare the birds away. Is it working? I’ve got a resident woodpecker who I’d like to peck the shit out of.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh my gosh, I LOVE the Goo Goo Dolls! Though to this day, I can’t hear ANY song by them without immediately thinking of the movie City of Angels…and then I get all teary eyed! Lol

The snake totally worked! I was so shocked! I had this same issue last year and it about drove me CRAZY! Sounds like your pecker needs to find himself a rubber! πŸ˜‰ Bahahaha!

  16. Emily says:

Oooh…I’d love a full review on the IE book. It sounds like it’s been BEYOND beneficial for you. (:
Currently I’m obsessed with yogurt, sourdough bread, and peanut butter (but that addiction never ends…) Yeee!

  17. So happy you are getting better so quickly!!! How exciting is that!!! Like the sound of the man friend & sandy beaches. Need somebody to carry the luggage! πŸ˜‰

We have some noisy birds here too – every year this time the same thing. They start about midnight & go well into the morning hours – craziness!!!!

  18. Missy says:

I am in current need of beach trip too – where will you be going if you do get to go?
My current freakout: Lab gets inspected tomorrow (CAP) and we have been in paperwork overdrive mode!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, well I hope you get that need taken care of soon! I swear, the sound of crashing waves is the most relaxing sound in the world! Try as I might though, my sound-maker alarm clock just doesn’t cut it! Lol We’re hoping to go somewhere relatively close…maybe Gulf Shores or Myrtle Beach!

Ohhh, how did the inspection go??

  19. I love that you do this once a month! I might have to borrow the idea if you don’t mind πŸ™‚ Currently I am super into watermelon! We got a really good, juicy one and I’ve been chowing down!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh girl, I don’t mind ONE BIT! I love doing it…so fun to look back on all my pictures for the month and see what all stands out!

And I seriously can’t WAIT to have my first watermelon of the season! I can do some damage on those babies!

  20. Jessie says:

    1. I think you are one of the coolest, if not COOLEST person I know!
    2. I want to eat everything you listed above; especially the coconut yogurt.
    3. Way to take control of those birds. They obviously didn’t know who they were messing with!
    4. Currently loving bisquick pancakes again. I hadn’t had them for the longest time, and just made some batter this morning and oh my heavens, I’m sorry but no coconut flour or whole wheat flour pancakes compare.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Awww, Jessie! You are TOO much! It’s been AGES since I’ve had bisquick pancakes…and honestly, I’ve always thought Kodiak Cakes reigned supreme when it came to pancake mixes, but after hearing this, now you’ve got me wondering! Lol

  21. Kat says:

Ummm I need that coffee in my life RIGHT NOW. Holy freaking smokes. Target has some seriously awesome coffee flavors!!
And to be honest, I really cant believe its already May. This year is flying by for me!

  22. LOL! Loved how you started this post. You’re so cute. You know your blog is like the one of the only ones I am reading right now, right? hehe. Shhhhhh. I am just focusing on enjoying LIFE as I’ve told you through texting, but your blog provides me with so much happiness that I just cannot – CANNOT – leave it aside <3

I really need to start reading the IE book again. It's so hard for me to find the time to read. I need to get better at that. I would love a review from you though, sweetie!

And the beach? This month!? WITH THE MAN??????? Where, love!?

Sorry to hear about your lamp, but happy to hear April was your month!!!!!!!!!!!! I REEEEALLY couldn't agree more, sis! You've done amazing things! I love you

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, Megggggggggg! I swear girl, you always know how to light up my day! I love you so so much! And omg, only FIVE MORE DAYS till I get to hug your neck!!

As of right now, we’re thinking somewhere close…maybe like Gulf Shores or Myrtle Beach? Honestly, as long as their is hot sand and the soothing sound of crashing waves involved, I could care LESS where we go! Lol

  23. Ah I’m so happy you put the thing about Blend at the end! I commented in another post that I wanted to give you a hug and had a small panic attack that you might not be going! πŸ˜‰

That snake idea is GENIUS btw!

Also I LOVE Archer Farms!! That coffee looks toooo decadent!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah, I will DEFINITELY be there! Shopping for my bells this week! πŸ˜‰

It seriously takes me FOREVER to go through a regular bag of coffee since I have to mix it with decaf, but I can’t wait to grab up some of the other flavors to try! Have you seen the coconut one? Omg, that sounds amazing!

  24. I have been drinking the Caramel Macchiato Archer Farms coffee…but I wondered about the Buttery Caramel. I am now going to have to purchase it. I trust your tastebuds. (And I know you can’t handle anything TOO sweet!)

I can’t even walk into TJ Maxx or Marshall’s anymore. And I don’t want to talk about the 10 for $10 Chobani situation in my fridge right now.
