Oh my, man friend has one nice thumb! you know what they say about sexy thumbs dont ya??…. okay, I have no clue, it just sounded good πŸ™‚

  2. I love the idea of black pepper in watermelon salad- I make mine with a dash of salt & lime juice, but I bet the pepper would create a whole new different experience. Must. make. asap. Have you tried watermelon & feta salad?

I’m afraid of BBQs, so I make Court do all the outdoor cooking- hahaha. I love grilled tomatoes, corn on the cob, bell peppers, etc.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ohhh, and I’ll have to try it with the salt and lime! Lol Watermelon and feta (and cucumber) salad is one of my FAVORITE summer dishes! You know me, I love my sweet and salty combos! πŸ˜€

And for the record, I don’t go NEAR the grill without direct supervision…my arms have hair for a reason…I’d like to keep them that way! πŸ˜‰

Goodness! All that BBQ looks amazing! How come everything just tastes better when grilled?
Looks like quite a fun weekend for you! It’s kind of sad, I can’t even remember the last movie I went to!

  5. So much amazing food, I can’t even…That kale salad? I’ll take a scoop, please πŸ˜€

  6. Oh wow!! How amazing does that BBQ look! Your man friend certainly knows how to prepare some good looking food with his good looking thumb hehe!
How was World War Z? I’ve heard mixed reviews!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

It was great! Even the man-friend (who read the book and said it was completely different) really enjoyed it! Very suspenseful. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that the zombies were so fast…that just doesn’t seem right to me…I mean, c’mon…there DEAD…they SHOULD be limping around! Lol

  7. I never liked BBQ until I met you. Now I see that pork and have a Pavlovian response. Marvelous is right!!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

You have no idea how happy this just made me! Quick, find a BBQ festival! Boobs…er, um…I mean YOU and I are gonna FEAST it up!! πŸ˜‰

  8. Sexxxy thumb ;). For real though, any man that can cook makes me want to fall over and die. In a good way.

  9. Lucie says:

Men who carry kabobs must be sexy!! And if they can cook, well then you might need to consider if he is actually real?! So happy for you that you had such a great weekend Lovie!! All that food, I want to jump into and inhale it all! (Without coughing if possible wahaha)

  10. I love barbecues. It always makes me laugh how the men have to tend to the meat. What a nice thumb your man friend has ;D. Oh my, that cake looks soooooo good.

  11. Considering my obsession with all things zombies, it’s pretty safe to say that I absolutely need to see that movie. It’ll be happening soon!
And that plate. Can you just make another just like that and give it to me? Because that would make me extremely happy.

  12. That potato salad and fruit salad look amazing! And beautiful pic of you and your friend!

I swear I’ve heard nothing but awful reviews of World War Z so I am so glad you liked it! I think it’s because the people who read the book are just hardcore fans of the book and my understanding is that Brad Pitt kinda paid 7 figures for the title but then strayed a LOT. So glad it was summer entertainment!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Really? I hadn’t heard any bad reviews of it yet…not that I’ve really gone looking. For the record though, the man-friend DID read the book and while he said that the movie veered off in a completely different direction, he still really enjoyed it! πŸ™‚

  13. Dannnnggg. All that food looks AMAZING. I love grilled stuff–and your man friend knows how to make kebobs!

Mmmm kale salad is really good if done right, fo sho.

I’ve been loving corn on the cob lately!

  14. Rachel says:

That spreads looks DELICIOUS!!!!! Especially the pork – yummmmm. I love grilling veggie kebabs! I competed in the Bozeman Triathlon this weekend – so much fun!

  15. I seriously want to lick my screen right now. Your food always looks SO good!
We moved up north six months ago and have yet to purchase a grill. I miss it so much, and after reading this have it on the must-purchase-by-the-end-of-the-month list. My favorite thing to grill is kabobs. Chicken, steak, veggies… basically anything you can throw on a stick. Yummy eats! πŸ™‚

  16. Allie says:

Oh man oh man was that GOOD BBQ! The watermelon salad, BBQ and sauce were definitely the highlights for me. Although I’ll never complain about veggies on a stick, either. Save me a seat at the next get-together!

And whoo whoo, check out that thumb ;D

  17. For some reason the thought of watching World War Z just makes me all anxious. I can handle a lot of action and some gore, but psychological thrillers just keep me up at night. Haha. So, on a scale of 0 to scary, how was it? πŸ™‚

Cute picture of you and Allie! OH, and very very nice thumb. I feel like your manfriend is Wilson off of Home Improvement. His face is always hidden by something. That’s basically the only thing I can remember from that show.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Not scary at all!! It had a couple of parts that made me jump, but it was really more about the suspense. I am in NO WAY a fan of scary movies so trust me…this one would pass your test! πŸ™‚

      Oh Wilson…haha!

  18. This post made me so happy! What a delicious marvelous weekend you had! The food all looks and sounds amazing! Love feasts like this especially with friends! So happy you enjoyed a great weekend!

Oh and dangit, I thought I had an out for that movie and now Tony is on me to see it because you’ve seen it and loved it!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! It really was a good movie! But hey, why not do a little negotiating? You’ll go watch zombies with him if he does ____ for you! I mean, marriage is all about compromise…give and take…breakfast in bed? A week’s worth of kabocha? (that’s like ten for you, right? ;)) Make it work for you girl! Lol

  19. HOLY CRAP – I licked the screen! πŸ˜‰

Need to see that movie! We saw Man of Steel & this old broad loved watching that hunk! πŸ™‚

  20. Lisa says:

All that BBQ looks delicious! and check out that sexy thumb … woohoo!!! πŸ™‚

  21. Mmm I love BBQ food! Especially a good pulled pork. Any man that can make good pulled pork is definitely a keeper. πŸ˜‰

This weekend I had lunch with a friend, met up with friends for coffee, and worked!

  22. purelytwins says:

love grilling just about anything πŸ˜‰ it has been a long time since we ate pulled pork, looks yummy!!

  23. Wow! That is some amazing looking food! I’m not a pork fan but have been thinking about trying a slow roasted pork shoulder. Maybe even pulled pork sandwiches… We’ll see if I can get up the guts to do it! I’ve heard it’s really yummy and The Hubby is in!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh my gosh, I can’t imagine you NOT loving it after giving it a try! It was so juicy and flavorful…and really, it couldn’t have been easier! No basting, turning, covering…it basically cooked itself! I’ve made shredded pork from a pork loin in a slow cooker before, but it doesn’t even BEGIN to compare to the deliciousness of this shoulder!

  24. Food. Porn. All of this looks so incredible! I’ve never thought of basil in watermelon. Yum!

    xx Kait

  25. So proud of you!! That all looks amazing!
Especially that pork! And the grill char on the chicken! I just can’t resist!

  26. calee says:

if your man friend and my man friend got together, an epic feast would ensue.

  27. Pingback: The Summer of Salacious Salads |

  28. Mmmm grilled vegetables are the best!

Oh how I wish it was summer in Australia – instead we’re stuck with rain rain and more rain. I haven’t gone for my morning walk in a week because every time I go to leave, it starts pouring. GRRRR!

  29. Marvelous is right! All your eats look delicious, and while I may not be noshing on meat, even I can respect soaking that shoulder for 6 hours and then roasting for another 13. The Man Friend gets another check in my book, not that any score keeping is happening (or maybe it is). Jealous you were hanging with my girl Allie. Can I call her that or if I have to ask, do I already know the answer?!
