Marvelous THIS, Marvelous THAT!

Happy Mondaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Whew! Can you tell I just had my cup of coffee? Can you? Can you? CAN YOU?! But N-E-ways, I have a confession…I’ve been sitting here staring at the photos on my computer for about 20 minutes now debating on what I wanted to post about today…

MIMMWIR? ABCDEF-G?!

But since I just happened to forget to upload a CRAPTON of pictures from Nikki before heading off to work, I’m going to save my Week in Review for tomorrow because I’ve got an idea for a post that I’m kinda patting myself on the back for right now! 😉

Plus, last week kinda sucked (hard nights at work, little to no sleep (except for the day I took a Benedryl, slipped into a ten-hour coma, and was almost late to work!), and unfortunately, a lot of emotional eating, BUT things really started to turn around after the weekend hit and ended up being pretty damn MARVELOUS so let’s talk about that instead, mmmkay??

It allllllll started with a little double-yolk action on Thursday…

Double Yolk

The second of THREE I would have in a week from a carton I picked up at Costco! Seriously…I should have played the friggin’ lotto!

Then there was a little bit of this…

Foam Rolling

For the record, the bumpy ones hurt like )#%@*^!! the BEST!

A little bit of that…

Weights & Cardio

Upper body weights and my first pain-free jaunt on the elliptical!

And of course a whole lot of THIS…

ASS-ets

Gotta take a minute to appreciate the ASS-ets

There’s just something about an empty room, a wall of mirrors, and a pair of good-fitting yoga pants that makes you forget about all the negative body issues you’ve been having  for the last few days! 🙂

On Friday, there was more of this…

Foam Rollers

Did I MENTION that the bumpy ones hurt like )#%@*^!! the BEST?!

More of that…

Gym Selfie

Sorry Arman, no twerking today! 😉

Oh and some of THIS…

Pumpkin Chili

Pumpkin FREAKIN’ Chili!!

Recipe coming…as soon as I can snap some decent photos!

On Saturday, there was some of this…

Bacon & PancakesBacon graciously cooked by the man-friend (since it kinda skeeves me out) and pancakes graciously STACKED by moi!

Oh and can I just say…

Pancake WTF?!What….The…Effffff?!

Three different pans, one burner on ONE temperature setting with three VERY different results! The Pancake Queen was NOT happy…recipe coming soon! But anywho, back to my story…

Some of that…

Fire & Marshmallows

CARAMEL & VANILLA MARSHMALLOWS?! I die.

Had a little shin-dig with the besties and our sig figs…a night filled with good food, laughs, and SO many memories from the high school years…I may or may not be feeling a  bit old now!

So obviously there had to be some of THIS…

S'mores

Ermahgerd Schmores!!!

Ohhhh, you liked that didn’t you, Sam? 😉

And then finally, on Sunday, there was a little bit of this…

Costco

Costco FTW!

Hoping to get some more lucky double yolks in this pack and can we say HELLO score on the persimmons? Only $7 for nine of those sweet little suckers!

A little bit of that…

K&S Market

Can’t wait to put that kabocha and lentils to some GOOD use!

And the highlight of the day was some much-needed THIS…

Me & Broccoli MamaBroccoli Mama love!!! <3

Seriously, it had been like THREE weeks since I’d seen the beautiful woman who brought me into this world…and that was three weeks TOO long! Unfortunately, the only way I could see her was to drop by her work, but luckily we got about an hour to chat!

MIMMAs always, a BIG thank you to Miss Katie for hosting our favorite Monday linkup…because it’s always great to start the week off on a MARVELOUS note!

What did YOU do this weekend?

Have you ever gotten a double yolk?

Awww, I can see you twerking!! Our Twerk Community is growing 🙂
Sorry for a rough week, but I am so happy you had such a lovely weekend!! These Schmores look like heaven, another thing I only recovered since entering the blogger world!
I have the same experience with pancakes cooked in different pans – some burn to black and other take a felt freaking hour until they are done – same temp and same time! Booooh.
I am whipping up some chicken chilli tonight, but that pumpkin one sounds divine as well!
    Happy Monday badass babe!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Yes ma’am! I’m well on my way to being a first class twerker! 😉

Thank you so much my sweet friend! I hope you’re having an amazing week! I need to get caught up on your bloggy BIG TIME!

  2. I’ve actually never gotten a double yolk so I’m super jealous of you…#foodieproblems

Why do pancakes have to be so finicky? If the pancake queen is struggling then it must be the pancakes aka it’s not my fault my pancake recipes turn out a 1/4 of the time! Also my mom still flips my pancakes for me because I can’t. Gotta love our mamas!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Awww! The thing with flipping…it’s all about patience…and commitment! Once those edges start turning crisp, it’s time. And once you get your spatula under there, it’s one swift flip…don’t be shy! 😉 As far as the finickiness (if that’s not a word, it is now!), I’m convinced that the man-friend’s out of date oven is to blame for my tar-colored cakes! *grumble grumble*

  3. I may have laughed out loud at that comment 😉 oh goodness, never gets old. And I’m already a pretty huge fan of s’mores, but using caramel and vanilla marshmallows? Want. Like immediately.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Good…glad I wasn’t the only one! 😉 And seriously, the toasted coconut marshmallows are still my favorite, but these are definitely a very close second!

  4. I NEVER get a double yolk! No fair!

Are those flavored marshmallows really good? Or are the tried and true still #1? I need to know for the most epic grocery run ever that will happen in a week for today. 🙂

P.S. You and your mamma are so cute.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Really good…like omg, it tasted like a caramel latte good! Get them…NOW! Or well, a week from now! 😉

I’m really surprised with all the eggs you eat that you don’t get more double yolks. I wonder how many Sarah (aka the yolk pimp) has had? And for the record, yes, I am now thinking in notches on bedposts! Lol

  5. I’m sorry but you completely lost me after that picture of your s’more — I wants ittttttt. Holy perfectly crispy marshmallow, Batman. And caramel vanilla? I die. 10 bucks says we have nothing of the sort up here in Canadaland. Poopy pants.

    Happy Monday! 😀

  6. Oh gosh, you need to get him a pancake skillet!

Pump, pump it up, pump it up, pump it!
    Yeah girl!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I actually told him that! That may end up being “his” christmas present this year…along with a zester and a set of mixing bowls! Ha!

  7. A double yolk in one egg? That’s kinda… Awesome?! Saturday we went shopping and for the life of me couldn’t find one pair of pants that fit. Dangit. Sunday we drove out to the Shenandoah Mountains and drove through Skyline Drive. It was GORGEOUS!

  8. Yay for double-yolks!! You are clearly very lucky and need to play the lottery! 😉

Also, that bumpy foam roller looks super scary. I think I’ll stick with my non-bumpy one…it’s bad enough!! :/

  9. Julie says:

I love that you make pancakes with three different pans! I use one and then eat them as they come out because I get SO hungry!

  10. Oh my gosh I can’t believe you got so many double eggs!! I’ve never had that happen before!! And that picture of you eyeballing the foam roller is hilarious!! Happy Monday, friend!

  11. I’ve never had any double yolk action, I still can’t believe it happened twice for you in such a short space of time.

You are my foam rolling hero, I use the smooth one and even then I dread it and don’t use it enough.

I still have not mastered the selfie, I tried once at the gym last week and felt so silly I deleted them all straight away.

Glad you got some much needed time with Mama broccoli. I’m seeing Mama Sprout on Wednesday.

Can’t wait for the new pancake recipe, so weird that there were 3 different results with what I assume is the same mixture.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, don’t lose hope on the selfies…practice makes perfect! You should get one with your mama on Wednesday! 🙂 And yeah, it was the same pancake batter in all three pans…I’m pretty sure the man-friend’s out of date oven is to blame. I told him that if he wants more pancakes at his house on the weekends “Santa” is going to get “him” a griddle for Christmas! Lol

  12. Kat says:

awwww you are your momma are so pretty!!
I apparently need to get on the bumpy foam roller train. I’m a glutton for pain, and I adore my fat noddle, but I do think the bumpy ones would really get into those sore spots more! Especially after my soccer games…although just thinking about that thing on my calves has me sweating….

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, there was this guy next to me at the gym the other day using the bumpy one on the front of his quads! I tried that once with the regular one and I swear I almost threw up from the pain! 😯 Lol

  13. A double yolk? Yaaaawn ;). Okay, sorry, I’ll try to be more excited for you. I might not be fond of eggs but I’ll admit that picture is quite impressive. Now the nerd in me wants to know the scientific background of how double yolks develop …
Go and appreciate the ass-ets, girl! Be proud of that booty :).
S’mores, huh? Still have yet to try them. I’d have to sub some others cookies since Graham crackers aren’t available and track down vegan marshmallows but it has to happen.
Pumpkin chili? You’d better have dinner ready for me because you know how fond I’m of that kind of dish!
Agreed that three mum-less weeks are too long but I’m so happy you got to see her. Both of you are so cute and she looks so young still. [Yes, that’s a compliment!]

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I always assumed it was twin baby chicks…hmm, now you have me wanting to check! Googling…Ok well now I’m just FULL of information!

      1. The odds of a double yolk are 1 in 1000!
      2. The cause is a release of two ovum at once…it could produce twin chicks, but it’s rare because there wouldn’t be enough room for both chicks to grow within the egg and siamese chicks would be an even RARER occurrence.
      3. The record is a NINE YOLKER! 😯 Omg, that would flip me OUT!!

No pumpkin, no Greek yogurt, and no Grahams!?! What IS it with your country?!! Well, at least there’s kabocha, right? 😉

  14. I’ve seriously NEVER had a double yolk before. Just like how I NEVER win anything. I’m just so unlucky. 😛

I find the plain foam rollers hurt enough as it is – if those bumpy ones are worse, I can’t even imagine the sort of excruciating pain they must cause. I know I should be foam rolling everyday, but I’m so bad at fitting it in! Okay and maybe I’m a bit scared of the pain too.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Well let me just tell you that is a downright JUSTIFIED fear! I watched a guy next to me foam roll the top of his quads on the bumpy one…when I tried it with the regular one, I seriously thought I was going to be sick for a couple of minutes! And I think I have a pretty decent pain tolerance! 😯 I’m just hoping that in the end all playing around in the world of masochism will help me get my range of motion back in my leg. The goal is to be able to sit Indian style by the end of the year! 😀

  15. I tried foam rolling for the first time last week and yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s the last time too. Holy crap that hurt like a son of a b!tch.
All those double yolks; you need to play the lotto. Stat!
I’m pretty impressed with your Costco haul…is that a lovely bag of brussel sprouts I see in the way back? I’ve been fantasizing about brussel sprouts lately…I know I’m weird. Unfortunately we haven’t gotten any in the CSA, although we have gotten bok choy. In fact, if I suddenly disappear it’s probably because I got overtaken by bok choy.

Speaking of odd things, I am amazing at cooking bacon. I know, I know, but bacon was my thing back in the day and I’m very particular about how to cook it. Me particular, yeah, not surprising at all.

I’m thrilled to hear you had a pain free spurt on the elliptical. That’s a great sign and I hope you’re back to actually sleeping at night. My fingers are crossed for you.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thanks love! So far, the sleep has been better over the last couple of days….I even got up in enough time yesterday to photograph my chili AND hit the gym before dark! Woot woot!

Yeah, totally not surprised by your oddness…but impressed by it all the same. Have you ever tried baking bacon <- hmm, that sounds funny if you say it over and over again! I've heard that it's great for getting it nice and crispy...I'll have to try it sometime...if I ever get rid of the skeevies from looking at it raw, that is! Ha! Those ARE Brussels! My mama mentioned something about having them for Thanksgiving and they were on my mind...I'm thinking a little shredded salad action may be going down soon...damn, you know, that would be really good with some bacon! Hmmphff! Come cook it for me? Purrrrrrty please?! I think the foam rolling is helping to loosen up some stuff in my leg...or at least that's what I'm hoping. I hate it, but hey, if it gets me sitting Indian style before the end of the year, so be it! I'll just keep the cursing to a barely audible level...you know, since I work out at the YMCA! 😯

      • The YMCA used to be my joint, right beside bacon. Imagine if I came to your Thanksgiving and cooked the bacon!! The vegetarian brings bacon. Now there’s a great idea.
It’s all about giving those slices room on the skillet to breath. Don’t overlap them and they’ll crispy up perfectly.

Peas & Crayons has a great shredded brussel sprout salad with cranberries I want to make. In fact, that’s probably what started my cravings for the baby cabbages.

        • kissmybroccoli says:

THAT’S where I saw that! I knew I had seen one recently! Hmm, maybe with some cranberries, bacon, AND blue cheese?! Omg, I’m drooling! Lol

  16. Awww, Broccoli Mama is quite the Broccoli BABE. I see where you get it, gurrrrrl. Moms are just the best.

Your ass is lookin’ damn fine, as always. With the emotional eating & body image, remember that THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Everyone goes through easy times and harder ones <3.

Major kudos to the man friend on the bacon front. It's cooked perfectly. I wanna dive into the screen and gobble it up.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

God I love you! Thank you so much, my gorgeous babe of a friend! I’m definitely seeing the trials of last week as a thing of the past now…I’m feeling a LOT better and of course back to my narcissistic ways! 😀

And seriously, I LOVE that he always cooks the bacon to crispy perfection! If there is one thing I can’t stand it’s bacon that’s flacid! 😉

  17. girrrrrrrl i have so much to say as always 😉

    – nice ass
    – can’t wait for the pancake recipe 😀 they look so incredibly fluffy 😀
    – you just reminded me i need to foam roll now too 😀 i did thrusters today and deadlifts are tomorrow and oh my my legs need some rolling out
    – yay for a pain free cardio sesh!
    – yay for seeing your mama!

a little bit more about your mama…

you haven’t seen her in 3 weeks!? i know how rough that is… i haven’t seen my mama since august :'( BUT she is coming on Nov 20 so i am super excited 😀

    love you

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, love you too, my favorite doll (Doll?! ;)) Oh wow, I can only imagine how excited you must be for your mama’s visit! I’m sure there will be lots of shopping and good eats during that time too! Hope you got those legs prepped and ready for today! Good luck with your workout! 🙂

  18. Double yolks rock!! I haven’t had one in a looong time though. Love all the pancake & bacon cookin’ you & the man friend did! Yum!! Looks pretty marvelous to me! 🙂

  19. Cassie says:

    I’ve NEVER gotten a double-yolk. I feel so cheated.

I have been debating a spiky foam roller vs normal… which do you recommend?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I’ve been debating on getting one of my own too for days I can’t make it to the gym. I think the normal ones are a bit more versatile…I feel like it’s too rough to use for my IT band…so I’ll probably get one of those! 🙂

  20. how does that Aaliyah song go again? #DustYourPansOffAndTryAgain

you are STILL the pancake queen! x

  21. I’m so jealous of your double yolker and I don’t even eat eggs on their own!

This weekend was a super chilled weekend – we were absolutely exhausted after flying back from Bali overnight with only 1 1/2 hrs sleep (damn you evil cabin crew who don’t turn the lights off!!) so it was rest, relaxation and a spot of failed baking (major bummer!)

  22. You are toooo cute 😉 I love doing creative things with s’mores! Love to add a bit of maple peanut butter to it as well… mmmm! And EGGGGS omg, I’ve been craving em’ like mad!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I’ve tried regular peanut butter, but I thought the flavor kinda got lost in the mix…maple peanut butter may just be the solution to that! My favorite so far (and the man-friend’s too) was our combo of dark chocolate with toasted coconut marshmallows…it was like an Almond Joy sandwich! 😀

Oh and just a little warning, if haven’t had any eggs yet, today’s post is gonna KILL you! 😉

  23. Amie says:

Hahaha omg my husband bought me that foam roller with the teeth on it for Xmas last year and my mother in law just gave me this look like, “wtf do you do with that??” But I love it! Hurts so good. Btw that bacon looks amazing.

  25. Sarah Pie says:

Pancakes KILL me! I’m far too impatient which is a shame because I love them so. Another thing I think I may love is those marshmallows, which sound amazing and look even better in s’more form.

Props on the double dose of the devilish bumpy roller (and all those selfies as well). I’m glad to hear that the end of the week turned around for you 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, yeah, they definitely take a fair amount of patience…but the good news is, once you make them a dozen times or so, you can practically make them in your SLEEP! Or at least, that’s how I feel sometimes…when I don’t have an audience! 😉 And now I’m thinking of marshmallow pancakes! Haha!

  26. Your face at that bumpy roller… Priceless.

If I ever get a double yolk when cracking an egg I am going to whip out my phone immediately and tag you in an instagram photo. That’s a promise!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

You better!! I swear I’ve probably had at least a dozen in my life but every time I feel like I just won the lotto! Lol

  27. That spikey thing scares the shit out of me. Did I tell you my foam roller molested me the other day? I’m pretty sure it did – I can’t look it in the eye at the moment.

I love PUMPKIN CHILI. Le hubs tells me I ruin it by “doing that too it”. I tell him to find a clif. 😉

And hello broccoli mama!!! She’s adorbs, just like the mini!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

First off, bahahahaha! Omg, I’m not even going to ask about the foam roller. Secondly, you know you’re the ONLY person who said ANYTHING about the pumpkin chili in this post? I honestly thought about not posting it this week, but then my pictures came out so pretty and… 😉 Lol And thirdly, thank you! 😀

  29. LET THE A BOMB BEGIN.

Double yolks. No joke- I one time bought an 18 pack of eggs (well not one time, I buy those almost three times a week…but thats another story) and every single one of them was a double yolk. The sad part- I only needed the damn whites that week. Fail. Whale.

I think our burners must be related…I have one which can be used for slow cooked oats, the other is like a makeshift fire pit its so strong.

Glad you got to spend some time with mama broccoli- Spending time with mothers is so damn important…Obviously I’m a mummy’s boy but some recent scary moments and set backs have really made me cherish her more and more.

…I don’t even know where to start regarding all those empty mirrors and not even a booty tooch.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awwwww Noooooo! Fail whale INDEED! But seriously Arman? THREE 18 packs a week?! Holy crap!

Glad to know I’m not going crazy with the man-friend’s stove…but I did tell him that “Santa” may be buying “him” a griddle for Christmas if he wants me to make pancakes again! Lol

I tend to forget how much I still need my mama until I end up going almost a month without seeing her…definitely makes a world of difference.

      And I have a confession: I don’t know how to twerk! 😯
