Thinking Out Loud: Cookies, Bananas, & A Wine Party

Hello, friends!!

I hope you are all having a fantastic week! Today’s Thursday…which means you’re (since mine technically starts today) one day closer to the weekend …which means that I’m wasting precious word count because we all know that Thursday’s are best for thinking out loud…and I’ve got a LOT on my mind today!

Like how there are only FOURTEEN days (and you know, like 1500 miles) standing between me and Park City, Utah! Two weeks people! And I have YET to do any dress shopping! Ahhhhh! I guess the bright side is that with all the extra hours I’ve been picking up at the hospital lately, I can pretty much spend whatever…though we all know where I’ll be looking first, right? 😉

And speaking of my favoritest store in the whole wiiiiiide world, I took a little trip there last weekend, practiced an ungodly amount of restraint around the athletic wear section, and happened upon a couple of gems…

Coffee

HELL-O!

I’ve never thought about drinking macaroons before, but holy YUM! It’s funny, I don’t usually find creme brulee flavored coffee to have a strong enough taste for me, but this one is SPOT on! Of course, you know the only trouble with that…I’ll probably never find it again! Guess I’ll just have to add it to the TJ Maxx treasure list along with Mini Pops, any and ALL dips made by Terrapin Ridge Farms, annnnnnnd…

Chimes

CHIIIIIIIIIMES!!

Just when I thought I was set for a while on my beloved ginger chews, I spotted not one, but TWO bags of the orange flavor…which I haven’t seen in a store since…well, since the last time I went on a crazy ginger mission (double entendre totally intended!) all across Nashville!

So remember how I said I wasn’t a fan of baked cookies & cream Quest bars? Well, allow me to make a little addendum to that statement…

Broiled Cookies & Cream Quest Bar

Because BROILED cookies & cream Quest bars are the SHIIIIIIT!

Seriously, the crispy crunch on the outside with the soft and almost gooey inside? The “cream” takes on the perfect consistency! Oh…and schmear a little almond butter on that baby and you’ve got yourself the ULTIMATE cookie combo!

Oh and speaking of almond butter, look what I made!

Banana Bread Muffins

MUFFAAAAAAAAAAANS!

But not just any muffans muffins! Oh no. Those, my friends, would be Amanda’s Banana Bread Muffins that I’ve been coveting for weeks now…WEEKS I tell ya! And after my SECOND trip to the store for bananas, there was NO WAY I was letting a little thing as “maybe their too ripe” to stand in my way!

Bananas

Because near-fossilized bananas still make some DAMN tasty muffins! C’mon…it’s not like they were very fuzzy or anything! 😉

Banana Bread Muffin

Now to make these babies last throughout the weekend? Perhaps they’ll help fuel my mad dash around Clarksville for that dress I’m in desperate need of? And then I can come home and celebrate!

Wine Club

Maybe with just a little wine?

Ha! So how about my first wine club delivery came in the other day (and the damn Fedex man woke me up TWO HOURS early…damn it’s hard being a gansta wino!) and now, with the three bottles I purchased during wine fest, the two bottles of white in the fridge, and the bottle of red that’s open on the counter, I have…

TEN BOTTLES OF WINE!!!!

Alright, who’s coming over? Or more importantly, who’s bringing the crackers? Because we ALL know I’ve got the cheese thing covered! 😉

Thinking-Out-Loud

Be sure to hop on over to Spoons, give our hostess a little shout, and check out all the other random bits flying through blogworld! Have a great day guys! I’ll “see” you back here tomorrow with a fun little survey!

What is your favorite store/thing to shop for?

What’s the last thing that you baked?

omg TJ Maxx own my soul. Seriously, why is it that I can only find those unique delicious coffee flavors and explosions of chips to try at a TJ Maxx and NOT a grocery store? How does that even make any sense?!
And their fitness section? Makes my heart swoon. The fact that I could buy zebra print leggings there is enough to sell me…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! True story: The last time I went with a friend to TJ Maxx, they were under DIRECT orders to keep me out of the fitness section! The last time I’d gone in before that (of course, not even needing any new workout clothes or anything), I left with $100 worth of stuff! 😯

  2. Ashley says:

Ohhhh TJMaxx..where dreams come true! I end up there way too often during my lunch break. I tried ginger chews once and did not like them at all…the worst part is I was at the hair salon and couldn’t spit it out in public so I had to finish it with a strange look on my face! Um…BROILING Quest bars?? I NEED to try this!!! Thanks for the idea!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, no! I think the chews are a hit or miss kind of thing…they definitely pack a punch so if you’re not a HUGE fan of ginger, they can make you pucker up! And yes, you HAVE to try broiling your next bar! I usually put it on low broil, keep a good eye on it, and flip it when it starts to get brown (usually like 5 minutes or so, I think?).

  3. ROFL! Omg I can’t even handle those bananas. How on earth did you manage that?! I’ve sen some pretty ‘well-done’ bananas, but I don’t think they’ve ever reached that point. Then again, I live in Canada and our lack of warmth keeps things from ripening TOO quickly. Still giggling.

And girl… I’ll probably be in the mall the night before I have to hop on the plane, looking for a dress 😆 I’m tempted to just wear the same one I had at HLS, but that seems like a fashion faux-pas…

    • I’m with Spoons on this one. I’ve never seen a banana that ripe (can you even still call it ripe) before. You my dear get a banana prize of some sort.

Do you mean to tell me I need to get a dress? Fack.

      • I volunteer to eat both of these bananas (are they even bananas in that stadium? Or more like a BARMY product?) INCLUDING the peel if I can be the dress shopping consultant to all of you AND joining in on Blend!!! Aaaah! Drowning in jealousy!

        • kissmybroccoli says:

Awwww! What I wouldn’t give to see you at Blend, lady! You will most definitely be there in spirit…we’ll clink our glasses in your honor! 😉

      • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I would like my prize to be the most inappropriate phallic thing possible…and it must be delivered to me in PUBLIC! 😉

YOU have some seriously hawt legs, m’dear, so yes, you most definitely need a dress! *muah*

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I swear this is the longest I’ve EVER let them go before…and I think they must reach a point (probably just before developing a fuzzy exterior) where they actually start to dry out a bit because, believe it or not, the muffins didn’t come out overly sweet! I was shocked…and of course incredibly satisfied! 😀

And I seriously considered wearing the same dress that I wore to my high school reunion last summer, but then I was like, “Wait, everyone has already seen that one!!” 😯 Lol

  4. Broiled Quest bars sound like the most amazing thing in the world! I just ordered a box and am waiting for it to come, so I’ll totally be trying that out!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Woo hoo! Prepare to tantalize your tastebuds! Yup…totally just made that up…on the fly…and yes, I’m a nerd! 😛

  5. Impossible to have too much wine!!!! We’ve got 12 staring me in the face right now…And I NEED that coffee!

  6. Hilary says:

My favorite store is Target! I love everything about that place! But TjMax is a close second! We recently just got one in my town and although there coffee section has been suffering I have hope it will get better 🙂

  7. TJ max (and Marshalls) are amazingggg. I’ve never seen the Orange flavored ones, but I live and die by ginger chews… stomach ache—>> time for a ginger chew. Last thing I baked was black bean brownis (my favorite)… unforunately I dont bake often because I tend to devour whatever I made in two days :/ I’m impressed/scared by your bananas… I’ve never let mine get that dark!!! But i’m sure those muffins were superbly sweet.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Believe it or not, they were actually pretty mellow when it came to the sweetness! This was definitely the ripest I’ve ever let bananas get before…I’m thinking at some point, they start to dry out a little bit? Haha, lesson learned I guess! And girl, I feel your pain on the baking…whenever I make treats, they almost always end up going with me to work or heading straight for the freezer! Lol

  8. Ahhhh I need a new dress too! I’m looking on Saturday – I can still squish myself into the one I wore at HLS in September, but I’d rather go for something a tad more comfortable. And since I’m going to Michigan, of course I’ll be looking at TJ Maxx!!! Seriously adore that store. Also on the lookout for cookies n cream questbars – I haven’t found them around here in that flavour yet!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Wellllll, I thought about wearing the one I wore to my high school reunion, but I’ll be honest…the first thing I thought was: “But everybody’s already seen that dress on the blog!” Lol So awesome you’ll be able to shop at a TJ Maxx! I swear they have the best deals…you just gotta be wiling to LOOK for them when it comes to the clothes! Fingers crossed you find those bars…I’ve got to restock myself!

  9. Bex says:

    Wait what. WINE CLUB?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Beans Creek Winery’s wine club in Manchester, TN (http://www.beanscreekwinery.com/)! I signed up for it on my trip back from Atlanta back in February. It’s only about an hour and a half from my house, but I signed up to get a delivery to my house on a quarterly basis…and it get’s me 10% off! Which makes me a happy wino…er, I mean GIRL!

  10. I find it hilarious/awesome that you broil your quest bars!

I really don’t like to shop for clothes when I actually NEED something? Does that even make sense? Its much more enjoyable to shop when I’m looking for nothing in particular. Target is my go-to for pretty much everything!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Makes TOTAL sense…because it takes the pressure off! I’m the same way! And somehow I doubt that you, yourself, on this day, at this present time, actually know the deliciousness of THE broiled Quest bar…that has to be the ONLY reason for you to find this amusing. 😉 Lol

  11. I’m there!! I think by now I am a famous drinker around the blogworld. It’s healthy, right?? I mean, all these grapes……
I baked Amandas Flourless Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Muffins in Cakeform the other day, and oh my lawwwwwwwd I had to mantra-ing and affirmating to myself so I didn’t end up stuffing my face witn the whole damn cake in one sitting.

  12. Woohoo girls night at Heather’s house! I’ll bring the chocolate. 😉

The last thing I baked… I can’t even remember. Last weekend I made two UNBAKED things though: raw chocolates and Oh She Glows’ super seed chocolate bites!

  13. Kadee-Cat says:

my husband is fascinated by the bananas and wants to know what they looked like under the peel. haha!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

      Haha! Just a little shrivel-y…ok, a LOT shrivel-y! Actually, I think they shrank a bit so shrankel-y? 😉

  14. LOL I am the biggest twat. The term ‘broiled’ isn’t used here and when I first read it, I thought it was a fancy way of boiling something and thought…why would you boil a quest bar?

Fail. But- that gives me hope, because the cookies and cream ones that I got were quite bendy and tough to eat at room temperature! Now as for that coffee…….geeze.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ewwwww, a boiled Quest bar! I’m thinking slimy goopy mess! Haha! And can I just say that I totally got shafted on the cookies & cream too? As in I have all cookies and hardly any CREAM! Oh wow, I just read that back and yeah…my 13 year old self is rolling on the floor! LMAO!

  15. I will definitely have to test out broiling Questbars once I can get my hands on some! That sounds amazing. o.o
Flavored coffee is my fave. 😉
Muffins are the bomb dot com.

  16. Melinda says:

I am now wishing that I had a wine club delivery- I am out of wine and wishing I had some!! Those banana bread muffins look delicious! I actually made some banana bread last weekend with some home-made cream cheese frosting- sooo good 🙂

I am having a great giveaway on my blog, please come by and check it out! http://mylifebeingrenewed.blogspot.com/2014/05/raw-green-organics-2-week-detox-system.html
