Thinking Out Loud: A Week By Number

Hey hey, kiddos!

Didja miss me? Whew, I missed me! It has been one CAHRAZEEEY week! Logging in 54 hours in five days is some kind of work, BUT the good news is its the LAST time I’ll have to work any overtime in the foreseeable future. Yup, starting next month, I’ve got my new schedule (and hopefully some semblance of my sanity will return).

So, how ’bout we celebrate with a little ToL look-back, shall we? Because I have to say, it was another week of super human abilities! And because it’s fun, I’m going to do it by number…

Coffee Selfie

SEVEN

The number of cups of coffee I’ve had…because, ya know, even if your mug is the size of your head, it’s still just ONE cup! Who cares if it makes your left eye twitch a bit! 😉

Halloween CandySIX

The number of pieces of Halloween candy swiped from the cute little tin at work this week. The Reese’s of course was the first to go, but I’ve since rediscovered my love for Whoppers!

Indian

FIVE

The number of slices of naan I gobbled up at the Indian lunch buffet the other day (no shame). Man, that stuff is seriously sweet mana from the [carb] gods!

FOUR

Gone Girl Book

The number of minutes it took to regret taking this picture at work because of COURSE things got all sorts of busy just after snapping. Anyone else reading Gone Girl? It took a little while to pick up in the beginning, but now I can’t put it down. And? I have to say it’s doing a great job improving my vocabulary. I think I’m averaging a dictionary.com search once every 10-12 pages! Ha!

I can’t WAIT to see the movie!

Cloud Porn

THREE

The number of days that we had exceptionally warm weather (I mean, we were breaking records, folks…84F in late October!) AND I was able to take advantage of it by starting back up my walks at my favorite park! I also got about three comments on my read-walking abilities since there was no way my book wasn’t coming along.

Oh and how ’bout on the one rainy day we had, I actually got a wild hair and went to the GYM! Pretty sure the guys at the desk thought I was someone off the street…since I haven’t stepped foot in there innnnnnnn well, let’s not go there! 😉

CookingTWO

The number of hot meals I “cooked” during the week…which I celebrated by sharing an incredibly awfully lit picture on Instagram. I’m giving the fingers in the air quotation marks when I say this because it was more an assembly of parts kind of meal, but I do give myself bonus points for breaking out my homemade marinara from the freezer!

Halloween Scrubs Selfie

ONE

The number of days I actually remembered to wear my Halloween scrub top this month (damn!). We won’t go into just how many selfies I took before I decided to share this one. But can we take a minute to appreciate how well my new eyeliner was holding up at 4am? 😉

BONUS

I just HAVE to share this video with you guys (because A. I just heard about it on the radio yesterday and B. What’s a Thursday without a little music action?). It’s from the band OK Go, who are known for incredible music videos, but get this, it was all captured in just ONE TAKE!

Thinking-Out-Loud

Now hop on over to Spoons and check out all the other random things people are thinking up out today. I’ll see you guys back here tomorrow for some Currentlies! 😀

What’s your favorite Halloween candy?

What’s the last book you read or are currently reading?

Ah I just finished Gone Girl and thought it was AMAZING- could barely put it down! I am seeing th emovie tomorrow night so hopefully my standards aren’t overly high! Reeses are obvs my favourite Halloween chocolate. I’ve never tried Whoppers but Google just confirmed that I would love ’em!

  2. Fran@BCDC says:

Ok Go always amazes me…How DO they do it?! Gone Girl…I’d heard it was so great. I finished it only because I wanted to know what happen and then was given a very unsatisfying ending. I can’t remember when I’ve read a book with two so unlikable main characters. It really frustrated me. However, the clips of the film look very interesting and I’m thinking about seeing it. Have a great day, Heather!

  3. Cat says:

I’m getting the eye twitch myself today – oh coffee, you dark temptress you… Oh I wish I could erase my memory of Gone Girl and read it all over again because it was so freaking amazing! Still need to see the film – hope it lives up to it!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ha, I know the feeling! I’ve heard nothing but good things on the movie…which is a nice surprise since Hollywood almost always disappoints with books turned to film!

  4. That scrub top is so cute! I remember when my mom worked on the wards she had the best collection of them ever! Never failed to make me smile when she showed at my school in a top covered in flowers…most of the time. 😉 😉

  5. Loved Gone Girl! And I just saw the movie last weekend and I think they did a great job with it. I usually hate Ben Affleck, but he was a good Nick.
Favourite Halloween candy – Reese’s. Of course.
As for book – right now I’m reading The Scorch Trials, which is the second book in the Maze Runner series.

  6. How did they not fall off those butt scooter things?!?!?! And more importantly… how did they manage to choreograph an entire dance routine on it? Mind = blown 😯
I saw Gone Girl a few weeks ago and thought they did a really good job on it! I’m normally not one to be able to sit through 2.5 hours worth of movie, so I kind of had my doubts, but it went by super quick! I didn’t even mind Ben Affleck.
Aaaaand I’m not currently reading -anything- for fun because I’m up to my eyeballs in studies. Save me?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I know, I thought the same thing! If I had HALF the amount of coordination…maybe I wouldn’t be constantly walking around with bruises! Lol. Thanks for the head’s up on the movie. I had no idea it was that long! Note to self: do not drink anything! haha! And seriously? Hope the craziness with your studies dies down soon…I know you’ve got to be missing your little literary getaways. You always find the best reads!

  7. Naan should only be eaten in bulk.

Is Gone Girls really worth it? I never want to jump on band wagons… but then I miss stuff. Still refuse to read Harry Potter. I want sex, not dragons and shit. Sex sells.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I’ve never read HP either…or watched the movies. Gone Girl is totally worth it…so sick and twisted…and yes, there’s sex! 😉

  8. I loved and hated Gone Girl all at the same time. Can’t wait to see the movie.

  9. I love the countdown style post! =) I saw Gone Girl last weekend although I haven’t read the book. UM, CRAZYYY!! You know what else is crazy? The suggestion that Whoppers are good. No, no, no! 😉 Happy Halloweekend!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hahaha! They are an interesting candy that’s for sure. I just found a new favorite tonight…caramel apple Milky Ways!! Omg, so good!

  10. I read Gone Girl about a year ago, I wasn’t sure about it at first, and then OMG it had me hooked and I couldn’t put it down!!!! Total mind f***

  11. Never mind that I told you already but I want your Halloween scrub. Think they’re making dresses in that style, too? Because as much as I want to wear the pattern I can’t warm up to the idea of putting on pants. #TWSS #leggingsrule
The last book I read was The Rosie Project and you have to read it. And by that I mean I hope you already have it checked it out from the library the next time we chat. You know you like me.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, I’ll have to see if they have it next time I’m there! And omg, I don’t know what I’d do without my leggings/yoga pants/anything that covers my ass without a button or zipper! 😉

  12. I want to read Gone Girl when I finally finish reading the 5th Game of Thrones book!

My favourite Halloween candy is probably mini Caramilk bars. Or really any mini chocolate bar that’s nut free!

  13. Whoppers are awesome, but I have been leaving them and stealing the Milk Duds:)

  15. Please tell me I snap-chatted you breakfast the other day. It involved pb cups lol.

…That video is ridiculous and I am in awe that they managed to stay on let alone bloody ballroom dance. I also applaud you on the naan bread. Go(ne) girl!
