I just want to give a HUGE thank you to Jay over atΒ HelpfulAdvisor Web Hosting for making this entire process totally painless! I know absolutely nothing when it comes to computers and I’m sure I asked over a dozen “stupid” questions, but he was there with an answer for everything and reassurance that my bloggy would be safely moved and operating as quickly as possible!
If any of you guys are ever in need of web hosting or consultation, I would be more than happy to give you the info to get in touch with Jay and his team!
I also want to give a big thanks to all of of you! I’ve loved blogging from the very moment I started and was welcomed with such open arms that it almost feels like I’ve been doing this for years instead of only 6 months. So, after debating back and forth on it for several months, I took the plunge and made the switch to self-hosting! Guess this means I’m in it for the long haul…gotta get my money’s worth, ya know! π
Love you guys!
whoooooooooooooooohooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
go baby go! <3 kiss mah broccoli is taking over betches! =)
YAAAY! welcome to the self hosted, girl! π
this is the Most Awesome Surprise. congrats! <3
Congrats!! Love it!!
Yaaaay, congratulations! I wish I had consulted someone when I switched- I still have a feeling I did something wrong, and I have no idea how to change everything! I love the picture of you kissing the broccoli- so cute π For my own selfish reasons, I’m glad you’re self-hosted because that means you will keep blogging indefinitely and bringing joy and delicious recipes to my life π
Aww, your selfish reasons made me giggle! Nope, not going anywhere…you’re stuck with me! Of course I may have to start some kind of pumpkin payment system in exchange for the really good recipes…I’m hoarding my ONE can since I can’t find it anywhere! Eeeek!
Very cool. I also used Jay at Helpful Advisor when I switched my blog to self-hosting.
Skippety-do-dah Congratulations!
How exciting for you AND us! Now we are assured of the most delish-ush recipes and wonderful sense of humor!
Hmm, this is cause for celebration…… and cookies π !!! We will see what you come up with later!
We wuv u too!
And I am doing the “Happy Broccoli Dance” in your honor.
And yes, I just made it up!
Hahahaha!
Oh what a fantastic surprise! I’m glad to hear that you’re in it for the long haul, ’cause I’ll be reading for the long haul π Lately I’ve been thinking about self-hosting, and I want you to know that now I feel even more tempted. Peer pressure!
L0ts of love, girlie <3
YAY! So exciting!
P.S. I love that picture of you and the broccoli!
P.S.S. I still have a difficult time trying to spell “broccoli.” π i’m sure you’ve got it down pat π
P.S.S.S. The other night, I had a dream that your family gave my boyfriend a mechanical engineering job! (he goes to the US Coast Guard Academy and will graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering May 2012). haha so random!
Ok, going backwards:
3.Too funny! I think the only mechanical engineering work my family could give him would be fixing the lawnmower! Haha! Crazy dreams are the best!
2.Yeah, I never realized how frequently “broccoli” is misspelled until I started this blog and looked at the search queue for the first time!
1.Thank you! I recently became addicted to http://www.picnik.com I could spend hours playing around with that site!
Haha! π
And yes, I love picnik! great (+ FREE!) way to make awesome edits to photos!
ps do you like broccoli rabe? I tried it for the first time tonight and LOVE it!
Hmm, can’t say I’ve ever tried it before! It’s a leafy green, right?
yay congrats!!!!!! after a couple of weeks i decided to switch to my own domain because i was worried about having to deal with it later. i was worried about the stress but i’m so glad to hear that yours was painless!
woohoo!! now if only we could all have the painless process, that would be a great SURPRISE!
CONGRATS HEATHER!!! I switched over to self-hosting a few months ago but decided to be stubborn (er.. cheap) and do it on my own. It was a headache and a half! I’m glad Jay helped you out and saved you the trouble :)!!! Can’t wait to watch your blog grow and flourish even MORE!
Oh gosh, I couldn’t even imagine trying to do it myself! I’m so completely illiterate when it comes to computers…I’d have probably deleted the entire thing! Haha
Whoohoo, congrats, hon! And you rock that broc π
Congrats, this is awesome!! I have been contemplating going self hosted, too, but get overwhelmed at the idea. Maybe once I’m done with school!
Love it. And you better be here for the long haul!;)
That’s why it took me a while to decide. I was sooooooo nervous about it just knowing that something awful was going to happen, but Jay handled everything for me…no worries at all AND a great deal!
woooo!!!!!!! π
that’s so exciting!! and SO glad you’re hear for the long haul!
P.S. What exactly is the difference between self-hosting and having a host? Is it harder to maintain? What are the benefits?? I feel so clueless when it comes to the techie side of blogging!!!!
Girl, I’m clueless too! The main reasons I made the switch were unlimited data storage (pics, videos, etc), freedom to customize however I want, and the opportunity to do advertising!
Check out this post of Katy’s: http://katywidrick.com/2011/04/18/self-hosting-why-how-and-resources-galore/
She does an awesome job of explaining everything in layman’s terms!
THANKS!!!!! This is so helpful!
Hooray! Congrats. π
so cute!! i like the new domain π
YES!! Congrats, doll! Jay had told me someone else had consulted him, but he didn’t say who… I’m soooo glad it was you! Isn’t he absolutely the best?! π
Congrats! Glad you had a great experience π
