Finally {Getting Ready} Friday

Hey guys!

I hope you are all having a fantastic Friday!

I took the today off of work so I could get everything together for my trip to Cali tomorrow….so many errands to run and things to do before I leave! It’s so hard to believe that by this time tomorrow, I’ll be on the other side of the country!

This morning started out perfectly…I woke up on my own (love it when I don’t have to wake up to the alarm) after a great night’s sleep, threw down a date and some PB, grabbed my new friend, and hit the pavement!

I was actually aiming for 8 miles this morning, but around the 5.5 mark, I knew I just wasn’t feeling it…I blame the weather…

Humidity at 8am > Humidity at 5am :-/

After my run, I came home and whipped up a quick and easy breakfast that featured my two new loves AND helped me clear out another shelf in the fridge! Project “eat all the perishables” is almost complete! 😉

Greek yogurt mixed with protein powder and topped with banana slices, cinnamon, kamut puffs, granola, and ooey gooey melted Heaven peanut butter!

Oh and that granola isn’t just any granola.

It’s Erin Baker’s Peanut Butter Granola! I won some in a giveaway hosted by the lovely Averie a couple of weeks ago and I am totally addicted now! Definitely ordering a tub…or ten when I get back from my trip!

Along with breakfast, I enjoyed a HUGE cup of coffee while catching up on some blog reading…wait, didn’t I say I had errands to run?

Meh, there’s ALWAYS time for a little A to the M relaxation! 😉

Mr. Coffee says I had THREE cups this morning…but if it all fits in my mug, we can just say I had ONE, right?

So yeah, around noonish, I finally decided to get my butt into gear and actually get some stuff done!

Four hours later, I return home with this!

Layers!

Because shorts and tanks aren’t gonna cut it next week…

Ohhh, how nice not to see 90+ temperatures with heat indexes of a bajillion!

Annnnd…

The perfect carry-on bag!

I didn’t want to get any grief at the airport trying to take a purse AND a laptop bag on the plane so I set out on a mission to find one to do both…

MISSION COMPLETE!

TJ Maxx…$19.99!

And Mabel the Mac Book fits nicely with plenty of room to spare!

Now I just have to finish with this:

So I can fill this:

And since I’m the world’s worst procrastinator, I’ll probably still be up folding laundry and debating over which shoes to take until the wee hours of the morning…

Because I already made plans to go out with a friend for dinner tonight…

Hey, I don’t have any food, remember? 😉

Plus it’s Korean BBQ…and there’s ALWAYS time for Korean BBQ!

Any big plans for the weekend?

Are you a procrastinator when it comes to packing for a trip?

  1. oh i love that green shirt with the orange sweater!! that will look so cute on you! 🙂

my mom just went t o Vancouver and she is the perfect example of a packing procrastinator. i was teasing her because she kept putting it off til the last minute..and she ended up almost missing her ferry ride because of it. thankfully she had me to help lol

    xoxo <3

oh! can i come with you? we need to get out of the 100’s here! eeek!

  3. Anna says:

I’m ridiculously bad at packing; I have to do EVERYTHING the night before, regardless of where I’m going or for how long (this kind of sucks when you’re effectively emigrating, haha).

Your breakfast looks so freaking good, I just ate something pretty similar so I’m confident it also tasted awesome XD.

  4. Oooh, I LOVE all of your new clothes! Super cute 🙂
As for the run – ugh. The humidity kills me, too! I can deal with heat, but it’s hard to run when it’s wicked humid :[
No big plans for the weekend…but have a safe and fun trip, okay?!
    (…and I spy a familiar looking banner….hehe. )

Looks like you’re going to have some fun this weekend! Where did you get your Forerunner? Erik’s wanting to get one since we’ve picked up jogging (notice I didn’t say running! :P)

    • kissmybroccoli says:

If your not walking, your RUNNING! Jogging is what people did in the eighties in sweatbands and tube socks! 😉

And I got it on Amazon…best deal I could find!

  6. Megan says:

You are a running machine these days. LOVe it!
Cute clothes – I need to do some shopping now that I think about it.
    Have a great weekend!

  7. Ok, SERIOUSLY cute purchases, my friend. Sorry to say, yes the weather is less than sub- par but it makes up for it in the outdoor activities, ocean and yummy and wholesome food 🙂 You’ll have a blast and will forget about the poopy weather in no time!
Eeeeeeee– less than 24 hours till I see Y-O-U!

  8. By the way, 7 miles is low- key for you? I think you may need to slow down for me when we run as 6 miles is a lot for me, hehe 🙂

  9. I’m leaving for vacation later today and I am a terrible procrastinator and over-packer when it comes to packing for vacation. Have a great trip! 😀

  10. Lauren says:

Such a packing procrastinator! Which usually leads to me stuffing anything and everything into my suitcase. There’s no time to think, only to stuff.

Awesome job on the run! Humidity does not a good run make, but it looks like you rocked it anyways.

Your breakfast looks so goooooood. 🙂

  12. random question. how do you melt your peanut butter. ive tried, added soy milk and microwaved… but it did NOT work.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I honestly think it depends a lot on the brand of peanut butter that you use. I’ve had some brands that seem to just “cook” in the microwave and dry out as opposed to getting that runny melty consistency that I’m looking for. I’m guessing it has something to do with the amount of oil, but I always seem to have bad results with the addition of any kind of liquid. Maybe try nuking it in the microwave for a few seconds with some sort of neutral flavored oil (or coconut oil would be delish) and then try whisking it together? I think I’m going to try that with a couple of the brands that I have now that don’t seem to be the best melters. I’ll let you know how it turns out!
