First off, I just have to say you guys are the best! Thank you all so much for all the sweet comments on Broccoli Babe’s introduction yesterday…who knows, maybe this weekend, I’ll let him know about his debut! π
So what were you kiddos up to this weekend?
I planned to put up my Christmas tree on Saturday afternoon with the help of BB, but unfortunately this past weekend was one of my few on-call weekends and I ended up having to go in to the hospital for about 8 hours. It kinda sucked, but I could barely hear those negative thoughts in my head for all the “cha-ching-ing” going on!
We’ll just call it my little Christmas bonus! π
So since Saturday’s plan flopped, hall decking was going to commence Sunday after those delicious put-anyone-in-the-Christmas-spirit pancakes
baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-ut…
It started raining.
And then it rained some more.
As you may or may not know, here in Tennessee, we have WET Christmases.
And by then, BB and I had made rather attractive looking dents in the couch while watching movies and looking up stand-up comedy skits on You Tube. Sunday laziness took over and to tell you the truth, I didn’t mind one bit!
But today, I knew what I had to do!
O artificial Christmas tree, o artificial Christmas tree, I love your pre-lit branches!
With Pandora playing the best of Frank, Dean, and Bing, I got to know my inner elf as I started prancing around the room opening up boxes and unwrapping ornaments.
Only briefly halted when I encountered this:
Seriously? Why do we even save these things from year to year??
Tangled hooks, tangled hooks, tangled all the waaaaaay!
Luckily, I was able to carefully untangle shake the hell out of them until I had enough to cover my stash of ornaments.
Silver balls, silver balls, it’s Christmastiiiiiiiime in my living roooooooooom!
But anywho…
before I butcher to many more Christmas carols…
Wow, what IS in this eggnog?!…
How about I finally get on with it and announce the Broccoli Birthday Giveaway winner??
*drum roll*
Congratulations Rachel from Eat, Learn, Discover!
You are now the proud owner of some serious foodie loot!

I want to thank you guys so much for your entries. I had the biggest smile on my face as I read each and every one of them. Do me a favor…if you’re feeling down and need some perking up, just read a handful of those comments and I guarantee you will feel better! π
Christmas Trees: Real or Fake?
Β Let’s see…I’m lazy…I hate stringing lights…hmm…
What’s your favorite Christmas carol?
<3 I love the old classic Baby It’s Cold Outside with Bing Crosby and Doris Day! <3
Oh and one last thing, if you haven’t seen it already, I’m in the running to be the next LOVE blogger for Love Grown Foods and if you visit their Facebook page and “like” me, I’ll love you forever! π
Your tree is gorgeous, and I love that ornament photo op!! My tree is tiny and real, and I’m madly in love with it! I just posted pics today! I liked your LGF photo even though we’re running mates! π We’re both going to be Love Grown Blogger, I can feel it!! <3
So….I totally love that you “shook the hell out of them”! Totally made my day! Oh and BTW…days after Christmas shopping you need to invest in the plastic hangers so next year this doesn’t happen! Plus you will get them half off!
They make plastic hangers?! Omg, I think you just changed my life…or at least the future of my Christmases! π haha!
of course REAL christmas tree! i love the smell of a real tree! when i was little my dad, brothers and I would even go into the forest to cut our own tree. that was quite a special thing to us!
Pretty tree! I have a fake one at my apartment, but I always get a real one with my parents when I go home for the holidays.
Dean, Frank and Bing are musts! But you forgot Mr. Buble! π My favourite is “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”.
Oh yes, Michael could sing the alphabet and I would go weak in the knees! Love him!
REAL tree all the way. Except that part where Joey is allergic, so artificial it is. It doesn’t smell the same and it isn’t as fun as going to pick one out, but it’s less fuss so I guess I’ll keep telling myself that. I keep telling Joey that when we’re rich and have a a mansion, I’m going to have a separate wing for cats and my real Christmas tree π
so does he know about your blog or no?
He knows OF it…kinda had to break that to him early when he caught me taking a pic of my food with my phone one day! π I haven’t told him the web address, but he does know the name of it. He doesn’t have Internet at his house (seriously? How do people live like that?) so I doubt he’s tried to look for it yet…he doesn’t even have a facebook! Yep, I’m dating a caveman! π
I know right, it’s hard to complain about working on the weekends when you get the extra dough from it! I did the same on Saturday. Your tree looks beautiful!
Sunday laziness = awesome
Tangled hooks = NOT awesome
Haha I’m glad you got your tree up! sorry you got called in over the weekend π But at least you got some christmas cash! hehe
congrats to the winner!
love the tree!
Don’t think I’m going to even bother with a tree this year…. it would be far too tempting for a cheeky 1 year old to rip down! Carnage. Maybe I’ll decorate a palm tree in my garden… tropical xmas anyone?
Favourite Xmas tunes would be “Snoopy’s Christmas,” and “Feliz Navidad” so much fun!
First of all, that is an awesome picture of the ornament with you in it. Creative!
Second, we always have artificial trees. I think we only got a real one a few years. Artificial is easier. Buy a christmas candle, and you’re set!
Thanks Brittany! And yes, my Yankee Candle Christmas collection will need to be restocked after the holidays! Of course, my tree smells like cookies instead of evergreen! π
I couldn’t find my hooks so I resorted to paperclips.
Your tree looks really pretty.
I have a real tree. I like having real and fake. My fake is a vintage aluminum Christmas tree. I couldn’t find my color wheel so I just went with the real tree. I did not like stringing the lights. In years past I have used net lights.
My favorite Christmas song is Feliz Navidad.
Ahhh, paper clips…the trusty Christmas hook stand in! We did that in college when we got home with our tree and brand new decorations and realized that none of us thought about hooks! Haha!
How awesome you have an aluminum tree! My mom bought a white one a few years ago…although I’d say it’s the albino twin to Charlie Brown’s tree…scares me every year once I step into the living room! π
Oh and great idea using the net lights! I never thought of that!
I love the Mariah Carey and Nsync CD’s. I know those aren’t traditional but they’re such a guilty pleasure!
