Thinking Out Loud: All THE EXCITING THINGS!!

OMG, YOU GUYS!!

OH WAIT! I mean, oh…wait…yeah, that’s better. Sorry for screaming. I’m uh, just well…I’M SO FREAKING EXCITED! Shit, Heather, compose yourself wouldja?! Man, you let one month go by without a good round of ToL and Broccoli loses her marbles. And then she start’s talking in the third person. Wow. I have lost it. Ok umm, let’s just agree that this will never happen again…like EVER!

The thing I love most about Amanda’s link up (besides it’s obvious ADD-embracing qualities) is the fact that I get to TALK to you! It’s like meeting mid-week and catching up over coffee…or tea…which makes me think of cookies…which reminds me…

So Delicious Soymilk Cookie Dough Ice Cream

Holy mother of god, have you guys tried this?!

I’ve totally scoped out this So Delicious cookie dough ice cream frozen dessert multiple times but, the other day, in a moment of sheer cookie dough desperation (and the powerfully convincing speech of a friend…that went like “ya know, ya can’t really go wrong with cookie dough”), it was finally mine! Needless to say, I had a spoon in my hand minutes after walking indoors with it and ohhhhhhMYLANTA! My only criticism is that it doesn’t have more cookie dough. The ice cream frozen dessert itself tastes like cookie dough, but after getting halfway through the pint, I only found about four pieces. I guess what I’m saying is that I wish it was a little more like this!

Yeah, I really should NOT have Googled that! 😯

Ok, let’s talk about something else since I’m drooling all over myself now…and also seriously thinking about clicking on that little “order now” button when I know good and damn well I can make cookie dough on my own! Yeah, let’s moooooove on (see what I did there)! 😉

Tori's Graduation - Selfie

Look guys, Tori’s a college GRADUATE!!

My wittle baby seeeester…all growed up! Man, it feels like just yesterday I was moving out of mom and dad’s and leaving behind a knobby-kneed ten-year old little girl. Time really does fly! I’m so SO proud of her and I can’t wait to see where the future takes her!

After graduation, we all headed out for dinner, but I’ll talk more about that in a post next week…what I want to talk about now is WHY I didn’t manage to sneak one of these into the restaurant…

Bean's Creek Champagne

Remember that metric ton of wine I bought on my birthday?

Well, I’ve never been much of a champagne person UNTIL my favorite winery helped change my mind! After having TWO glasses of the Brut during the tasting (thank you, person who decided to pay and not show up…your wine was properly disposed of!) and getting a sample of the strawberry sparkling wine afterwards, I couldn’t help myself!

Which reminds me…

Bookcase

Maybe I shouldn’t shop on Cyber Monday.

I’m not sure what got into me, but before I’d found anything for the people on my Christmas list this year, I’d already found three things for myself! Including this STEAL of a bookcase on nomorerack.com! I swear I’m not usually so quick to spend money on myself but I mean HOW could I say no to this dream of a piece of furniture?!

It’s so modern…it’s so sleek…

Bookcase with Cookbooks

It soooo doubles as a WINE RACK!! 😀

And also showcases my collection of cookbooks, foodie magazines, a couple of knick knacks, and last year’s birthday bowl! Confession: I had NO IDEA where I was going to put this thing when I bought it. Whoops? But once assembled IN the kitchen, I figured it was a hell of a lot easier to leave it there! I kid, I kid. No, really I thought it looked kinda nice…and now I can add that to the GSD list! 😉

Wanna see what else I bought myself? Ok…but you have to promise not to judge!

Quest BarsTa DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?! 😯

I know what you’re thinking: “Heather, don’t you already have a serious bar problem stash? Isn’t your pantry bursting at the seams? What on earth do you need with A HUNDRED & TWENTY Quest bars?!?” And this is my argument: Come on, it was a DEAL, maaaaaan! How could I turn down $18 a box AND free shipping? Tell me! HOW?!

Yep, that’s what I THOUGHT!

Now if you’ll excuse me, one of ‘dem s’mores babies is calling my name! 😉

Thinking-Out-Loud

Be sure to check hop on over to Spoons and check out all the randomness this week!

What exciting things are on YOUR mind today?

  1. Oh my gosh, heather, I thought you got proposed to or you were making major changes to your blog! But it’s just FOOD! You made me laugh so much 🙂 thank you so much for being you, I love you so much! You’re so special!

And oh my goodness, how much did those quest bars cost? What a great, indulgent Christmas time for you. Please invite me over, I have a feeling your house is just as comfy as your personality and your food fantastic!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hahaha! Yeah, sometimes I get a little OVER excited about foodie goodies. Guilty as charged! The bars were only $18 a box so it worked out to being $1.50 EACH! No WAY I was passing that up! Lol

  2. A DEAL is a DEAL and you HAVE to go for it. There’s NO question about you had to buy that Questbar pile!! I would have done exactly the same, clearly.
And congrats to your sister! You look so proud and I hope you guys finally get your ponies and unicorns this year.

  3. I believe the proper unit of measurement is “metric fuck ton.”

  4. Ah hahahah….. and my husband gave me shit for my 6 boxes of questies!!! 😉
Did you know you can freeze them??? I freeze mine to keep them fresh and rotate them out.

Your baby sister is so pretty, runs in the fam eh? Congrats to her!
I also love love love your shelf. But as a mom I see that and think “oh my, let me count the ways my kids would scale that shit and break something” teehee.

  5. Bahaha! I love how you included wine on your bookcase 😉 And no I have -not- tried that deliciousness! But that’s mostly because I have a feeling it doesn’t exist in Canadaland. I mean… I’m having a hard enogu time being without Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride and Sugar Cookie CTC… Thanks for rubbing another one in my face 😛

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awwwww, nooooooo! 🙁 So sorry, love! I promise I’d send it ALL to you if I could! Actually, hold that thought…and check your email! 🙂

  6. Kat says:

    congrats on your sisters grad!
and holy mother of quest bars!! that is quite the stash you’ve got there! 🙂 I need to try the s’mores flavor asap!

  7. Ana says:

How do those s’mores bars taste?
    Where would you rate it?

    • The s’mores one is awesome! Although I think it’s best raw because when you bake/broil it, you loose some of the flavours in my opinion but they are gooooood 🙂

      • kissmybroccoli says:

I will say the flavor of the raw bar has grown on me over the past week or so. When I baked one, I felt like the flavor was totally gone. I think the trick to broiling them is to take them out JUST when they are starting to turn brown…much longer and they dry out a bit.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Well, if I could rate it ANYwhere, I’d totally do it on a beach in the Bahamas…preferably while holding a drinking with a bright pink umbrella in it! Oh wait, you mean where on a SCALE?! My bad! Let’s see…I tend to be pretty picky about which bars I allow into my “favorite” category, but I would definitely put these in it…right alongside the chocolate chip cookie dough and the cookies and cream flavors! The graham flavor is spot on and even crumbles a bit when you take a bit, but it’s even better if you broil it in the oven! Crispy on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside. Takes me back to summertime! 🙂

  8. 120 Quest bars?!?!

    Dude, you’re my hero.

  9. lindsay says:

i think i need all this! the wine, the bars, you. Mwah! i’m excited. LOL!

  10. OMG how did you get that amazing deal on Questbars. As a fellow questbar addict I am glowing a bit more green than usual over here 😉 Oh and thanks for the drool I now have to clean off my computer all thanks to that cookie dough link…Shouldn’t have clicked it, I just shouldn’t have. Have you tried to coconut so delicious one? The bestest!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Sorry, love! I hope you’ll find it in your cookie dough-lovin’ heart to forgive me! 😉 I haven’t tried the coconut one…yet! Looks like I’ll have to keep my eye out for it!

The deal was just posted on Quest Nutrition’s website for Cyber Monday. I was actually planning on purchasing them from GNC’s website but just happened to click over to Quest to check the price difference! I REALLY lucked out!

  11. The way that you get so excited about food is exactly why we’re friends haha. 😉 That ice cream sounds fantastic! I actually just tried So Delicious for the first time back in September and I loved it! It’s too bad there isn’t more cookie dough in that flavour though. That’s always disappointing!

  12. I am in LOVE with the shelf!! Totally missed it on nomorerack when I was doing my cyber Monday shopping. Instead 2 pairs of boots made it into my cart! 🙂 and definitely need to finally cave on the so delicious frozen dessert. I too have been wanting it but never put it in the cart. Next time…!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Right there with ya girlie! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve picked it up only to place it back on the freezer shelf! I just didn’t know what I was missing!

Ugh, that reminds me that I REALLY need to go boot shopping! I have such weird feet that online shopping is completely out of the question.

  13. I have to echo Chelsea…they way you get excited about food makes me happy too. And big props to those Questies on sale! they had a ‘sale’ at our GNC here too. $4 each. on SALE.

Congrats to the little one on graduating and congrats on filling out that….. household item. Very classy.
