WIAW: Bits & Pieces

Hey loves! Thank you all so much for the sweet comments on my NYE post. You guys totally have me blushing over here!

So, is it just me, or has this week been sort of crazy?

I swear I’ve been go-go-go since the 1st…so much so that I totally slacked and am just now getting my WIAW post up!

Oh yeah, time for the first What I Ate Wednesday of 2012!
As always, a big thank you to Jenn of Peas & Crayons for putting together our round-up of deliciousness each and every week!

So I noticed a theme with my eats yesterday…total randomness…a food “quilt” if you will.

But forget me trying to explain, I’ll just let the pictures do the talking:

Breakfast Numero Uno (6:00am)

Leftover biscuit and gravy from breakfast at Cracker Barrel with friends the day before.

Breakfast Numero Dos (8:00am)

A slice of leftover banana bread (recipe coming soon!)

And finally Breakfast Numero TRES (9:00am)

Navel orange and 1/2 caff Pumpkin Spice coffee x 2

Long story short, I woke up thinking I could make it to the gym for a workout around 6am, but since I stayed up WAY too late with some friends the night before (a New Year’s Eve encore of sorts) there was NO way that was going to happen…I should’ve went back to bed, but no silly me decided to stay up and watch 1/2 of Love Actually (haven’t finished it yet) and making random trips into the kitchen for things before finally deciding to get my butt in the shower and get ready for work!

Lunch (12:30pm)

My typical lazy girl fall back…peanut butter and banana sandwich + protein shake. I tried two new things this time though…Wild Squirrel’s Sneaky Cinnamon PB (holy cow, it’s even better than PB&Co’s Cinnamon Raisin Swirl) and a new flavor of Nectar protein powder…Crystal Sky. It kind of tasted like a Capri Sun, and therefore took me waaaaaaay back to the days of Lunchables, Mondos, and Fruit by the Foot. 🙂

Snack (4:30pm)

A nearly empty container of Sabra hummus and broccoli stalks/pieces…can you get anymore random than that?

Dinner (8:30pm)

After a terrible day at work, all I wanted was something quick and easy…cue cereal with peanut flour and some leftover fruit salad from this weekend’s holiday festivities with the fam and I was in bed by 8:45…yeah, one of those days!

Water count = 72 ounces

Not bad considering the day that I had. I had planned on going to the gym after work since I missed my morning workout, but you know, sometimes you just have to listen to your body…and that extra few hours of sleep was GREATLY appreciated when I woke up this morning!

Speaking of bed…I believe it’s calling my name right now!

What was the last random, “quilted” meal you’ve eaten?

What is your go-to lazy meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner)?

I’m curious…do you eat RAW broccoli? 😛 that’s just not right. My most random meal (I became so embarrassed I didn’t even make it) was lemon sorbet with green smoothie poured over the top….hahaha, oh god I’m such a nutcase. Ahh pumpkin spiced coffee sounds (I was about to say smells before realizing I’m a complete lunatic) sounds so nice! I’m so jealous, all the UK/US bloggers have canned pumpkin and pumpkin spice and eggnog and endless varieties of nut butters…this might speed up a really expensive holiday buying all the things I’ve seen on everyones blog.
    Happy WIAW =)

i eat food quilts daily. Makes it more colorful and unique, yes? Cracker barrel gravy=heaven on a plate.

  3. Lou says:

I always eat raw broccoli stalks too. Yum, it’s the best bit.

Fail-safe meal = oats, nut butter, dried fruit, soy milk. Yummo.

Happy Thursday love! Hope your week is going good!

I have to try that pb, sounds amazing! I have seen it on a couple other blogs!

  5. I am the worst with randomness. Omelets are my go to lazy meal especially when I’m exhausted and need some good fuel for energy. That and massive bowls of oatmeal loaded with peanut flour and apples!

  6. I loooove Love Actually! It is so worth staying up late to watch!

My favourite lazy meal is yogurt, cereal, and fruit. It never gets old!

  7. i usually save broccoli stalks to juice, but i don’t think i’ve ever actually taken a bite out of one….

my favorite lazy “meals” are tasting plates – usually involving pickles, cheese, and crackers. super healthy, right?!

My lazy meals are my smoothies – so good and quick. But I also do cereals & sandwiches as well.
Progresso light Southwestern Vegetable is another quick lazy meal that I’ll eat with crackers or add a can of chicken breast meat.

  9. Yogurt + blueberries or a Banana + PB smoothie are my go-to lazy meals for ANY meal. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner… or random snackage. haha) I almost always have those things on hand which makes it great!

I know what you mean about running around like crazy! I feel that way too!

  10. Roasted broccoli stalks are sooooo delicious… no wasting those babies! I really need to check out this Squirrel PB you’ve got… I saw it on Open Sky and debated ordering it but went with raw honey instead. I’ve never seen Love Actually, but I hear from everyone that it’s a great movie!

  11. I’m sooo jealous. I love Cracker Barrel and biscuits n gravy! I’m also drooling over the spinach & artichoke hummus and cinnamon pb. My favorite lazy breakfast is cocoa oats with sliced strawberries because I’ve officially given up being creative in the mornings haha.

  12. Love some Cracker Barrel! And can not wait for the banana bread recipe! My go-to lazy girl meal would be a PB&J.

I found it on Open Sky a few weeks ago…I think it was one of Kath’s sales. I just happened to have a $10 credit and I went for it. The pack also came with “Bright-Eyed and Bushy Tailed (has coffee grounds in it…saaaa-heriously strong!), Curious Coco-nut (chocolate coconut peanut butter) and Pretzel Pizzaz (with pretzel pieces). Needless to say, I was like a kid at Christmas when they finally showed up on my doorstep…and I stuck a spoon into each one! Haha!
