Feel Good Friday

Happy Friday punkins!

Can I still call you guys punkins if it’s not fall? Hmm, winter squashies just doesn’t have the same ring to it πŸ˜‰

So since I had the day off today, I was sure to kick it off in as productive a way as possible…and you know what? It just keeps getting better and better!

The morning started with this bowl of deliciousness:
Peanut flour oats with strawberry jam, a small banana, and chia seeds

And the peanut flour had only been in my possession for oh, about 5 minutes before this bowl was made, photographed, and devoured!

I’ve been waiting ALL week to receive my order from netrition.com and it finally came in!

I love shopping with them…can’t beat $4.95 flat rate shipping!
*And no, they didn’t pay me to advertise for them…they don’t even know who I am*Β

After my oats and a cup of coffee, I got into crazy lady cleaning mode! Anyone else tend to get a burst of energy right after breakfast? I always do after a bowl of whole grains and I LOVE it when it happens on the weekend ’cause I always get a crap-ton of stuff DONE!

After three hours of total house clean-down, it was time for a little snack:

But not just any snack…my old faithful PRE-RUN snack!

After all that cleaning, can you believe I still had the itch to go running? In 40 degree weather?? I know…I must be crazy!

But it was a CRAZY GOOD run!

I was only shooting for 5 miles, but when I realized that I was only about a half mile away from that, I just knew I wasn’t done yet. I went back and forth from listening to The Ting Tings station that I have on Pandora to just having silence and time with my thoughts…nothing but the sound of my breathing and the Vibrams hitting the pavement (well, that and my near-constant sniffling…gotta love the cold!)

After I got home and took a super hot shower (had to do something to get the feeling back in my hands…ugh, I’m such a pansy), I needed food and I needed food NOW!

Thank God it only takes veggies about 5 minutes to saute!

Behold my pile of veggies topped with veggie burger (yep, same ones from all week) and a perrrrrfectly drippy fried egg!

After the pic I covered it in a blanket of nooch and more red pepper flakes!
Mmm, spicy cheezy deliciousness!

While I was eating, I checked Twitter and it totally made my day when I saw this tweet from Chobani!

Yep, looks like the burgs made it to Pinterest…they are officially famous! πŸ˜‰

Oh, and speaking of Twitter, I love that Missy took the time to inform me of a VERY important holiday tomorrow…

Any guesses?

Don’t worry, you didn’t forget about Mother’s day or anything…it’s more important than THAT (just kidding…hi, mom!)

Pancakes aren’t just for Sunday people! Who’s gonna celebrate with me?!

And finally, I brushed my hair!

I rarely straighten my hair these days since it takes so long, but when I curl it, I can’t get a comb through it to save my life…and well, today I just felt the urge to get out the hairbrush!

Check out how LONG it’s gotten!

Hmm, maybe I should do pig-tails? πŸ˜‰

Now I’m just sitting around relaxing and waiting for BB to get off work. We’re going over to my parent’s house for dinner tonight and my mom is making one of my favorite’s for dinner…

Granny’s Chicken Stuff!

Mmm, mmm, MMM! Can’t wait!

How was your Friday? Any exciting plans for the weekend?

I pinned your burger to Pinterest!! I like to keep recipes I want to try on there as it easy to find them and if my computer gets a virus they will be safe over there, not wiped out of my Favorites folder(totally happened once).

What is the difference between Whey protein and Soy protein??

    • kissmybroccoli says:

So YOU’RE the one! Ahhhh, I’m so stupidly happy right now…seriously, you should see my face! Let me know what you think of them!

The only difference between whey and soy is the source. Whey is derived from dairy (think of Little Miss Muffett eating her curds and whey…hey that chick was probably beast…she totally could’ve taken that spider!) and soy comes from the soy bean. I’ve used both in the past, but I tend to lean more toward the whey since soy is a bit of a controversial ingredient and could possibly have an effect on estrogen levels if taken in excess (plus it’s in like everything we eat – “soy lecithin”). The trick is whichever one you chose to go with, to make sure it’s a protein “isolate” not “concentrate”. You’re body can break it down easier and you are able to absorb it better. Ha, that’s what working at GNC for 4 years will do for ya…I know my powders! πŸ˜‰

  2. I have my hair in pigtails right now! πŸ™‚

I tried your peanut flour in cereal trick and holy crap that’s brilliant! I love the peanutty milk action!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! <3

You are a babe of inexplicable babeness. Ruler of Babedom. Overflowing with babeosity. And so on and so forth.

I WANT YOUR HAIR AND YOUR LIPS AND YOUR OATS AND THAT EGG AND YOUR WATCH AND THAT CHICKEN STUFF.

  5. LOL at “winter squashies”!

Your lunch looks so good! Drippy eggs are the best thing ever. I somehow always manage to overcook mine though so I rarely get to enjoy their drippiness. πŸ˜›

netrition is my go-to sight for proteins/health food products. Love ’em!

p.s. I have to ask — how do you make your PF oats? Mine always get really dry and the peanut flour taste is totally lost. Teach me πŸ™‚

p.p.s. your hair looks beautiful πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, you are too sweet Jenny! I hope you had a blast on your birthday!

The oats couldn’t be simpler: 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup of water, and 1 tsp of vanilla get all cooked up either on the stove or the microwave (depending on how late I’m running for work ;)) and then I add 1/4 cup peanut flour and proceed to “stir the hell out of it”! Just make sure they oats are still a little watery before adding the flour. πŸ™‚

i’m with jenny on the peanut flour oats tutorial πŸ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks for the tip girlie! I’ll have to check out that website when I get ready to buy some more protein powder.

I answered Jenny’s comment, but in case you didn’t see it here’s the way I do my PF oats: 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup of water, and 1 tsp of vanilla get all cooked up either on the stove or the microwave (depending on how late I’m running for work) and then I add 1/4 cup peanut flour and proceed to β€œstir the hell out of it”! Just make sure they oats are still a little watery before adding the flour.

  8. My hair is the same way. I never comb through it if I go curly, but it’s now down to my arse and I need to chop it off. I wanted to order new glasses for my new haircut, but I don’t think I’m going to wait to get the glasses before I do it. Sounds like you had an amazing Friday! I hope the rest of the weekend treats you well too!

  9. Holy crap it IS getting long! =) Your hair looks awesome! <3 I'm thinking about cutting mine all off for a change of pace. or maybe just 1/2 of it off. hmm….

hope you have a fabulous weekend love! and keep the freak in touch! MWAH!
