Where’s the Purple?

Well boos, it’s that time of week again!

Time to bring out those delicious eats and party like it’s 1999 Wednesday!

Happy What I Ate Wednesday!

Be sure to hop on over to Peas & Crayons to show some support for the gorgeous gal that makes this celebration possible each and every week!

Love you Jenn!

While my eats may not be as GREEN as they’ve been in the past, I seem to have hit almost every color of the rainbow for this week’s WIAW:

BLACK coffee in my favorite GREEN mug!

Quickly followed by my BROWN bowl of oats:

Protein oats with banana and half a square of bakers chocolate.

A couple hours later, I grabbed a RED apple to tide me over until lunch.

Gotta love the crunch of a fresh ripe Honeycrisp!

My lunch was a delicious mix of BROWN GREEN and ORANGE:

After our fishing trip on Sunday, BB and I went to a cajun restaurant where I ordered the sampler platter of jambalaya, gumbo, and red beans and rice. I could only finish half (huge portion) so I enjoyed it the next day alongside a fresh GREEN salad with some of this dressing.

As I headed out the door to run a few errands, I grabbed a bunch of GREEN grapes to snack on along the way:

Plump. Juicy. And on sale!

Among my errands, was a daunting task…

Luckily, my dear friend LUNA had stowed away in my bag because halfway through the course I got a case of the tummy rumbles.

Favorite flavor…but only because I’ve yet to find this one!

As soon as I got home, there was no time to think of what to make for dinner. I simply opened the fridge and picked out the first few things I made eye contact with:

BLACK eyed peas, ORANGE Kabocha squash and a perfectly runny YELLOW yolk.

All drizzled with some RED ketchup!

There was also much water consumed throughout the day from my BLUE camelbak:

I know, I’ve recycled this picture a million times, but really, if you’ve seen one bottle of water, you’ve seen ’em all…

Plus, every time I see this pic I start singing “Ice Ice Baby”

Word to ya mutha! 😉

So there you have it, my meals and snackage for the day…Dang! If only I’d eaten an…

EGGPLANT

the rainbow would be complete!

What colors have you eaten today or yesterday if it’s still early?

What is your favorite color?

  1. What a cute mug! 😀 I’ve been munching on green grapes all day long!! and what a gorgeous runny yolk…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you Vien! I painted the mug at a pottery place in Nashville last year…it’s got a couple of chips, but it’ll always be my fave!

  2. I’ve had a date and a shot of espresso so far, so ugly n’ brown.

    Love that mug!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Mmm, I miss espresso shots! One of my besties used to work at the coffee shop inside the hospital where I work and would hook me up with shots on my early morning shifts.

  3. I am a huge Luna bar fan and you NEED to try the Peanut Honey Pretzel. It beats the Chocolate Peppermint Stick by a long shot, and I am a peppermint fan!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ohhhh, you’re like the third person who’s said that! I may have to just break down and order some online if I can’t find it soon! Haha

  4. Colors yesterday? Green in a salad, BROWN black bean burger, GREEN monster smoothie, YELLOW banana and GREEN dried edamame. A very colorful menu day 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Sounds like it! I’m so so glad the weather is warming up so I can start making more green smoothies! LOVE em!

  5. I’ve had a bowl of yummy overnight oats so far! all of your eats look delicious!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks Chelcie! I just had a bowl of OO’s this morning and I’ve decided that the passionfruit Chobani + almond extract + LOTS of shredded coconut makes for the PERFECT combo! 🙂 What’s your fave?

  6. Your lunch looks so good! I don’t know where my sudden love for Cajun food has come from, but I’m obsessed!

Yesterday I ate brown oatmeal, yellow banana, blue blueberries, orange carrots, green salad, white tuna, purple cabbage… but no red! 😛

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, soooooo close! You ate my purple and I ate your red! Haha!

I’ve become a bit obsessed with it too…it’s funny, because I used to shy away from spicy food and now, I love it!

  7. Very colorful and tasty looking, too!!

  8. I have been all about the orange lately. I think its because my little town finally is starting to carry organic veggies and the organic sweet potatoes are amazing! I want to eat one at every meal!

  9. i am DYING to try a runny egg over veggies! looks so yummy! i love all of your colorful food!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you, Anne! And the runny egg is the BEST topper for, well just about anything…especially after you pop the yolk and stir everything around! Yummmmmmmmmm-eeeeeee!

  10. I ate eggplant for you, don’t worry. 🙂

[And hello, you are only encouraging my current ketchup OBSESSION. I seriously want to eat it on everything. I just bought cabbage so I can make a ketchup-infused Carolina-style BBQ ‘red slaw.’ I bet you’ll LOVE that.]

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Holy mother of Jesus! If any group of words can induce instantaneously drooling it is those right there! You post that recipe and you will have my heart forever!

Have you ever tried low-sugar ketchup? I was thinking about trying it.

  11. Jessica says:

Ahhhh, your oatmeal looks so tasty with the chocolate on top!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you Jessica! Just as predicted, since I’ve sworn off nut butters and the like for Lent, I’ve started eating more chocolate! Haha!

  12. Zoe says:

All of your food looks delicious! I’m struggling what I like the look of more, your lunch and dinner look super!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you Zoe! I think I’d actually have a hard time decided which one tasted better…they were both deeeelicious!

  13. Oh my gosh, all you meals looks so delicious! I love eating the rainbow, it makes meals so much more exciting.

  14. Very colorful! You need some eggplant or something 🙂
&& Love love love peppermint Lunas. They’re my favorite kind! (Behind Peanut Pretzel, uh..)

  15. Hmm… breakfast was like… white-ish (banana smoothie with cake batter protein powder) lunch was green (salad + pesto pasta) and my snack is blue (yogurt and blueberries!) so maybe tonight will be red!!! 🙂

  16. Robyn :) says:

My favorite color is pink. The lobster in my salad from Quiznos was a pinkish color and my pink lemonade from there is as well LOL. The other color was green lettuce and red tomatoes.

I also had red tomatoes in my yellow omelet(yellow from the yolks) with white parmesan and feta cheese!

I will aslo have a red apple in awhile. An apple a day lowers cholesterol 🙂

I need to start putting egg on my veggies 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

They have lobster at Quiznos?! Shows you how many times I’ve actually been in there! Lol

You gotta try a fried egg on top of…well, anything! Love love love it! Especially once the yolk is popped and you stir it all together! Ahhhhh!

  17. I love how you wrote this post! Looks like a day of great eats 🙂

  18. I adore colourful food! I really hope next month’s WIAW is a rainbow party. That would be so cool!
That Luna bar sounds so delicious. Chocolate & peppermint. Yum!
I hope the driving course went well. I feel for you! I’m rubbish at driving as I’ve got no spatial awareness or sense of direction! Luckily I can get away with biking and walking pretty much everywhere round here 🙂
    Happy WIAW! xx

Oh what I wouldn’t give to live in a town that is pedestrian-friendly! It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get anywhere on foot in my city since everything is so spread out and we have a MAJOR lack of sidewalks! I seem to have inherited my father’s lead foot when driving…only he rarely ever gets a ticket due to the fact that he IS a police officer! Haha! But I have slowed down a lot since then and use my cruise control whenever I can (don’t want to help the city pave anymore roads with my money you know…especially if they’re not gonna use it to make sidewalks!)

The Luna bar is great! You should definitely give it a try. It’s my favorite flavor! Tastes almost exactly like a Thin Mint! 🙂
