It’s the Most MARVELOUS Time of the Year!

Hi-dee-ho chickadees!

How was your weekend?Β Was it marvelous?

After weeks of feeling ho-hum about the upcoming holidays, I finally found my Christmas spirit this weekend…

Chocolate Chip Cookie Protein Pancakes 4

I’m pretty sure I have some pan-COOKIES to thank for that!

See, I don’t know about you guys, but the weather here in Tennessee has been very mild lately (just yesterday, it was in the mid 60’s) so obviously, it’s been a bit difficult to sing along to “White Christmas” and “Let it Snow”…

Not that I in any way shape or form care to see snow any time soon! Yuck!

But I have to admit, something in that Christmassy-colored plate beneath my stack of fluffy, chocolatey pan-COOKIES set something off because the next thing I know…

Christmas Tree 2012

I’ve trimmed the tree…

Christmas 2012

Decked the halls kitchen and living room…

Ugly Christmas 2012

And then headed out with the man-friend to my first ugly Christmas sweater (or long-sleeve tee from the children’s department because all the ugly sweaters are a size large or higher) party!

And just FYI, the man-friend won first place in the contest for ugliest sweater! Thank you old lady section at Belk for earning us a dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse! πŸ˜€

I may not have won any contests, but I think I did a fine job rocking some accessories…

Christmas 2012

Eat your heart out Rudolph!

And speaking of eating…

Party Food

There was more food than we knew what to do with!

We brought along a veggie platter with hummus and an obscene amount of cantaloupe wrapped in proscuitto and enjoyed some of that along with an assortment of other goodies including a homemade bean dip that was absolutely amazing!

The rest of the evening was spent laughing over a hilariously awful rendition of CopacabanaΒ on kareoke, warming our tushies outside by the fire, and rooting on the next beer pong champion! πŸ˜‰

But the most MARVELOUS part was coming home at the end of the night to a Christmas tree full of shine and sparkle!

Christmas tree 2012

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

…even if it IS only on the inside!

How’s the weather where you are?

Does it FEEL like Christmas is just a week away?

  1. No, it definitely doesn’t feel like Christmas… and I live in Canada. No snow…it’s dry, brown & windy. I think that Christmas feeling is hard to achieve once you’re an adult!

I’m beginning to think that is the case for sure…Christmas just looks so different when you’re looking through that childhood twinkle! Ahhh, to go back and feel it for just a minute would be bliss!

Oh my God, you guys crack me up with the sweaters and I LOVE your accessories!! I need to make these parties a trend here in Switzerland, why are we so slow with all the good stuff?? Your tree looks so pretty! It’s way too warm here too, around 8-10 Β°C after we had -5 and buried with snow. White Christmas will stay a dream…Happy Monday!!

  3. Bangin’ sweaters!!! Prosciutto and melon is one of life’s simple pleasures. Hey… Can you run that into a

  4. Yesterday, it was raining for most of the day – not exactly Christmas-y weather! That’s ok, I’m not a fan of snow anyways.

And that is one ugly Christmas sweater – not surprised he won! :-p

  5. I need to get myself a Christmas candle to make up for the lack of real tree smell! I’ve been doing some festive baking…think cranberries, orange and chocolate! Love the jumper!

  6. Your Christmas tree is beautiful! I love your pancookies (my favorite kind of pancake hehe) I really do love this time of the year although my apartment (and a lot of Chicago actually, which is weird) is not very decorated so I’m not really feeling it yet :/

Awww, thanks Kammie! It’s the same around here too. Down town is all lit up, but besides the main strip, that’s about it. Funnily enough though, this week has been one of the COLDEST we’ve had in over a month…definitely feeling the season a bit more now…or wait, maybe that tingling is just the numbness in my toes! πŸ˜‰

  7. Those pan-COOKies look delicious and your tree is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I LOVE potlucks!! Especially now that I am learning to enjoy them properly, rather than depriving myself of the good stuff! LOVE your sweater too, there’s something about a good ugly Christmas sweater that just brings the holidays to life!

  9. 1. That is a lot of food.
    2. I need more information on the man friend.
    3. Is it weird that I actually want to WEAR your ugly sweater?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I actually wore it to my family’s Christmas get together today and everyone thought it was cute! Info on the man friend to come…promise! πŸ˜‰

  10. I LOVE ugly Christmas sweater parties! They are the best! Especially when they’re accompanied by gag gift elephant gift exchanges. πŸ™‚ And, congrats to the man-friend on winning first prize! That’s quite an honor. πŸ˜‰

  11. I love ugly Christmas sweater parties! It’s so much fun to see the gems that people find to wear haha.

It doesn’t feel like Christmas yet here at all – it’s been so mild and rainy lately. I hope we get some snow for Christmas!

  12. bahahaha I love that sweater!!! It doesn’t feel like Christmas is next week to me at all. Maybe that is because I haven’t done any Christmas shopping?? :/

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oops?! Hope you’ve been able to hit a few stores this weekend…or otherwise preparing for that Christmas Eve dash! Lol

  13. Your pancakes look epic! Love all the Christmas cheer btw! It is total slush outside here = gross..but I see white everywhere though πŸ˜€

  14. Seema says:

life is better whilst wearing an ugly sweater and glowing with holiday cheer πŸ™‚ glad you had so much fun, lady!!!

  15. We had lots of snow until the end of last week. Now it’s all gone and we won’t get any until Christmas anymore. Boo for no white Christmas once again. I somehow don’t want it to be in less than one week because afterwards all of the festive spirit will be over :(.

Oh, also: I nominated you for the Liebster award in my blog post today. Maybe you’re interested in doing it :)?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks girlie! I’ve been nominated a few times over the last week or so…guess I should get on that, huh?

Hope this last week goes by nice and sloooooooooooooow for ya! πŸ˜€
