A-B-C-T-J-and W-F!

Now I know my ABC’s, next time won’t you sing with meeeeeeeeee!

Happy Friday everybody! And no, I didn’t totally forget my alphabet. I’ve been seeing this “ABC’s of Me” around blogworld the past few days and well, I’m a total sucker for survey type thingies so I thought I’d join in!

Also, since I had the day off, I HAD to hit up my two favorite foodie establishments: Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods! More on that in a minute, but first let me see if I do still remember the alphabet!

A. Age: 26 years old

B. Bed size: King, though once my ex and I split all the furniture, I will have a queen which is what I prefer. I only use 1/3 of the bed I have now!

C. Chore you hate: Cleaning the bathtub/shower! I usually just go ahead and start cleaning in my skimpies…I’ll end up getting a shower before it’s all over with anyways, might as just well go with it!

D. Dogs: LOVE them, but I just don’t have the time it takes to have one of my own right now. Besides, Tiger would be SUPER jealous!!

E. Essential start to your day: BREAKFAST!! Sweet, savory, gimme gimme!

F. Favorite color: Green…like mo-nay!

G. Gold or Silver: Silver

H. Height: 5″7′ I’m the shortie in the family. My dad is 6″1′, mom and sis are both 5″8′!

I. Instruments you play: I was in the band in middle school and used to play the flute…can’t remember a single note now, but I can play a mean “Twinkle Twinkle” on the piano!

J. Job title: Computed Tomography Technologist…sounds so much smarter than CAT scan tech!

K. Kids: None and there probably won’t ever be any. I just don’t really think I want to have children and it’s taken some time but my mom has finally accepted that fact and claims Tiger as her “grand-kitty”!

L. Live: Hickville,Β Tennessee

M. Mom’s name: Janine

N. Nickname: It’s kind of sad that I really don’t have a nickname other than the occasional Heather ______ (insert word that rhymes with Heather…people are so original!)

O. Overnight hospital stays: Once when I was about 4 or 5. I tripped and fell at an amusement park and ended up with quite the “goose egg” on my forehead. They kept me overnight to be sure I didn’t have a concussion.

P. Pet peeve: When people hold their eating utensils like a shovel, aka “caveman style”

Q. Quote from a movie: “Am I that transparent? I want you…I need you…oh baby, oh baby!” from “Ten Things I Hate About You” which will ALWAYS be my favorite movie! I can practically recite every line!

R. Righty or Lefty: Righty

S. Siblings: One younger sister, Tori, whom most of you have “met”

T. Time you wake up: Depends on what shift I’m working that week, but normally between 5 and 6am on the weekdays and usually 7:30 on the weekends (because I’m an old lady that doesn’t know how to sleep late!)

U. Underwear: Cute, preferably Victoria’s Secret

V. Vegetables you don’t like: There aren’t very many, but I don’t care for radishes or frisee lettuce

W. What makes you run late: My computer…note to self: stop checking email/reading blogs in the morning

X-rays you’ve had: Lots of CXR’s (chest x-rays) as an infant (premie baby=sickly baby), knee, shoulder, ankle, hip, pelvis, toe, finger. I told you guys that I’m accident prone!

Yummy food you make: Everything I make is yummy, but some of my favorites are Everything-But-the Sugar Oatmeal Cookies, Stuffed Peppers/Portobellas, and Irresistible Carrot Pan-CAKES!

Z. Favorite zoo animal: Cheetahs!

Ok, that was fun! Now, onto the grocery treasures! Forgive the bad lighting. Heavy traffic coming home=diminishing daylight for foodie pics upon arrival at la casa!

Forgive me Joe, for I have sinned. It has been one whole month since I have set foot on your lovely foundation. I swear I did 15 “hail Mary’s” on the way through the door! πŸ˜‰

Trader Joe’s:

  • Refried pinto beans
  • Crunchy Valencia PB (because I can’t leave the store without a jar!)
  • Tuscan white bean hummus to use in a side-to-side comparison when I make Matt’s recipe tomorrow!
  • Reduced Guilt Pizza Primavera–On sale for $1.99!!!
  • Veggie Burgs
  • Vegetable Masala Burgs
  • Cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread (it has been TOO long!)
  • Fully cooked brown rice
  • Dried apple rings
  • Whole wheat flour tortillas

Ahh, we meet again Whole Paycheck! This time the joke’s on you…with a little help from the coupon department, you did NOT give my wallet a beating! Ha!

Whole Foods:

  • Pink Lady apples (proof that sampling does in fact work…so juicy and crisp!)
  • Siggis yogurt
  • Cinnamon Puffins (on sale for $1.99! So sad they were out of the PB flavor)
  • Bulk bin finds: animal cookies, chocolate nut medley, honey nut granola, TVP
  • Yellow miso
  • Unsalted pretzels
  • Jocolats and Larabars
  • Daiya cheddar
  • Chia seeds (the quicker, overnight oat perker-upppppppper…chia seeeeeeeeds!)

Notice anything in particular that stood out from those purchases?

“I’m bringing Teddie back! Them otha boys don’t know how ta act!”

I’d like to hear some of your ABC’s! Feel free to pick a letter or two to share with the class!

I choose the wonderful letter C, for coconut! Yes, I have a very special place in my heart for the furry tree nut, so much that I devote a whole letter to it πŸ™‚ Chia is pretty up there, too!

You got some wonderful loot from your grocery trips. Where I live, TJ’s and WF are within a block from each other. Yeah, not so good for my wallet, but wonderful for the foodie in me. πŸ™‚

  2. Heather Gregory says:

Love the pics of you and your mom and you and your sis. Although, I never knew you had a sis until we were reunited on facebook.

Would like to add… I understand the Heather _______! People really don’t understand how old that gets.

    Have a great weekend!!!

  3. spabettie says:

I have lots of nicknames… Kina, Stina, Snow. πŸ™‚

I am so with ya… hate cleaning the shower!!

  4. I’m TOTALLY with you on U and V girl! You and your sister are seriously so pretty!
Ha! Short? If your the shortie in your family I’d be a midget walking into your house hold I’m 5’4!

You and your sister are so so so so so so pretty!!

  5. Ahh I’ve had that pizza primavera I loved it!! πŸ™‚ I just filled out this same survey lol πŸ™‚

  6. Thanks for the linky back lovin’

And no kids…I said that too. Then at like age 28 my clock didn’t just tick. It sonic boomed! and I had to get pregnant, like yesterday. I was the, I am never having a baby, girl. And then…it all changed. Not saying it will happen to you, just reading your kids part reminded me of the 26 yr old me πŸ™‚

Love your groc stash. I know who’s cupboard to raid now!

    • Wow, that’s crazy! Well, if it does happen to me, I guess I will be serious proof that the need to breed is engrained in us all! πŸ˜‰

You can raid my cupboards any day…as long as you promise to make me some of your wonderful treats!

  7. AH IM SO JEALOUS OF YOUR HAUL!!!!! and btw so jealous of your nose piercing! i badly want one.. but im also TERRIFIED of needles.. i can handle a piercing gun, but not a needle!
    Vegetables you don’t like: CELERY

    • Haha! It actually wasn’t bad at all. It sounds funny, but it sorta tickled! The real pain came a week later when it got infected because I’m an impatient loon that thought it’d be ok to change out the stud before it was time! Ouch!

  8. I hope my recipe is up to TJ’s standards πŸ˜‰

  9. lindsay says:

I love reading this! I am 5’7 too! My husband uses his utensils like a caveman sometimes and I can’t stand it. I totally call him out on it too! LOL!
Nice groceries KB (thats my new nickname for you).

  10. Mrs. Fish says:

Must have been a food shopping day yesterday! I had a bad day, and went to my favorite foodie place. A ginormous international market in my hometown. After walking through all the aisles, I felt instantly better. Plus the fact the have the best prepared sushi! πŸ™‚ Although, they do not carry my favorite salsa. πŸ™ I can only find it at Whole Foods.

    Two ABCs of Me:
    Age: 26
Chore I Hate: The dishes! Our apartment DOESN’T have a dishwasher. My husband travels often. Which equals lots of dishes for me!

    • Ugh, I do hate doing the dishes too! Most of the time I do them by hand, but sometimes I’ll let them pile up for a few days out of pure laziness and run a load in the dishwasher. I don’t rely on it, but if I didn’t have one, I definitely would miss it…kinda like how I miss my microwave! πŸ™

  11. YAY!!! I love Teddy!!! I’ve been missing him! πŸ™‚

    YAY for Larabars!

I’m picking F. Favorite Color: Green! Orange! Brown! Red! Gold! Pretty much anything fall-colory.

    xoxo
    Kathleen

  12. Pink ladies are my favorite apples! Thank God they sell them at Costco, I would be broke otherwise πŸ™‚ Sampling really can work- I tried a honeycrisp apple at a market in Seattle once and promptly bought as many as I could fit in my bag.

  13. Love your ABC’s!! So fun knowing more about some of my favorite bloggers!!!

  14. 10 Things I Hate About You is one of my favorites too. “I’m down, I’ve got the 411.”

And – I hate cleaning bathrooms too. Showers specifically. Toilets I’m fine with, strangely, but soap scum and water spots on the shower are my nemesis. Lately I’ve just given up and let them win. The rest of my house is pretty darn clean, but the master bath shower has shown me who is boss.

    • I’m the same way! Hey, I’m the only one who ever sees it anyway! I guess it’s my “dirty” little secret! πŸ˜‰

And what’s not to love about that movie! I hate that they turned it into a TV show! I only watched one episode and it was horrible!

  15. I wouldn’t think of you as a shorty! At 5′ 4″ you’re much taller than me πŸ™‚

So many goodies… it’s been too long since I’ve stepped into a TJs.

  16. Yay! So glad you’re tall like me! I’m 5’8 (same as your sis and mom) and I like it. I just seem to have the shortest friends, haha!

  17. baahaha! Noone brings teddy back like you do =) love it!

My nicknames for my friends are usually not PG for blog land =) so we’ll keep that off here. lol!

I call paul Pauliandro behind his back so much that all the other marines call him that now. I suppose its better than pauli gaga? thats what you get for rocking out to bad romance during your flights!

    MWAH!

  18. Jenny says:

Gah I still can’t find those teddies!!! πŸ™ Btw very jelly of your stash πŸ™‚

  19. S: SO fun! this post is great

  20. inmytummy says:

H: I’m also 5’7. For some reason, I’m always surprised when I find out how tall bloggers are. I thought you were shorter but I have no idea why I’d think that!

  21. Amanda says:

    Great post!!
I also like green and don’t really have a nickname! :]
But kids?! You really don’t want any??

    • Yeah, I don’t really see myself as a mother. I know that my perspective may change, but I just never really had that little girl dream of having a big family and whatnot. I always dreamed of being a princess that was waited on hand and foot! Now, THAT I could see myself doing!

  23. What are you going to do with the TVP? I’ve never played with it… it eludes me!

I’m going to call you Heathcliffe whether you like it not, okay Heathcliffe? πŸ˜‰

  24. carlydeal says:

    Hi there!
I love seeing this post, too fun. I used to LOVE 10 things I hate about you, maybe I need to watch it again soon!

  25. Never ever had chia seeds but Whole Foods is my #1 favorite store hands down. Thank you for bringing teddy back! So adorable.

I have not seen 10 Things I Hate About You yet.

My dad used to call me De-ony Pe-ony sort of like the flower. His official nickname for me was Kumkwat! Most of the people I know have never heard of a kumkwat. I don’t think I spelled that right…

FYI my favorite song to sing when I was 2 was Twinkle Twinkle and my mom even has a cassette tape of me singing it. I’d be riveted if you would play your rendition. I’m a very sentimental person.

    • Kumkwat! Haha! Too cute! I don’t know how to spell it either…ok, I just looked…it’s kumquat! There, now we both know! πŸ˜‰

Yeah, my Twinkle Twinkle is around the lines of a first year piano player…not much to it, just one key at a time. But I wish I could play the piano. I have great “pianist” hands!
