Good evening loves! I hope you are all enjoying a nice relaxing Sunday!
I finished watching The King’s Speech last night and for those of you who haven’t seen it…you HAVE to get it! It has been a while since I’ve seen a good movie, but this one did not disappoint! Incredible acting, great story line, and the perfect amount of suspense to keep you glued to the screen!
It was a bit late when I headed to bed last night (is it bad that I consider 11:30 like SUPER late?) but I had no problem getting out of bed this morning! I couldn’t wait for breakfast! Not only was I excited for Pancake Sunday, but after my PB&J fiasco the other day, Jenny mentioned something that immediately made me swoon:
Peanut Butter, Banana, & Bacon Pancakes
Eeek!
Knowing this came from a highly credible source…I mean c’mon, the name of her blog is Peanut Butter & Jenny (which I absolutely adore)…I KNEW this was going to be good!
Elvis Pancakes: (serves 1)
Adapted from Peanut Butter & Jenny’s Bacon Pancakes
- 1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons wheat germ
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 flax egg (1 tablespoon flax + 3 tablespoons warm water)
- 1 medium banana, 1/2 mashed banana, 1/2 sliced
- 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring*
- 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
The magic is in the maple!
A little splash of maple flavoring took these babies to a whole new level of amazingness!
PURE Heaven!
Crispy on the outside
Rittled with bits of bacon
And permeated with the classic taste of maple!
Jenny, my dear, you are a genius! And I can now die happy!
Other than dying and going to Heaven enjoying this plate of awesomeness, I met my sis for a lunch date at my favorite sushi place and then came home to watch the third Narnia movie, which I loved! Makes me want to go back and watch the other two again! I am a total sucker for all the digital animation and special effects!
Welp, now that I’ve spent almost the entire day being lazy, I guess I should get up and do some laundry. Not sure they’d be too happy if I showed up tomorrow in my pj’s! Anyone volunteer to fold it and put it away for me? I’ll make pancakes! 😉
How did you spend your Sunday?
My Sunday passed by way too quickly!
Your pancakes looked divine this morning, as usual!
YUUUUM ! I think we have this movie waiting for us when we get home from vacation… 🙂
these pancakes look awesome – I love maple.
we spent the day wine tasting in Napa Valley – oooh YUM! 😀
Ohhh, I’m so jealous! Hope you guys are having an amazing vacation!
My boyfriend would freak for these pancakes!! I’ve never had bacon on pancakes before just because I can’t let my morning chocolate go 😉
Well you know, they do say bacon and chocolate go really well together!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate-covered_bacon
Just sayin… 😉
The boys had me cook a strip of bacon on their pancakes one time…they LOVED it…of course. Your pancakes looks like a masterpiece! I hope you had a great day!
You got me at bacon. I love the peanut butter, banana, and bacon combo. Elvis was definitely onto something! 😀
omgsh omgsh omgshhhhh – this post made me down right giddy. Thank you so much for the shout out, girl! I’m glad the recipe didn’t disappoint :)!!!
Definitely not! Laaaaa-huved them!!
These look simply amazing.
Yum yum yummy! Those do look divine. I agree, the maple flavoring is key. I love to use it in my banana and peanut butter smoothies. I guess because it tastes like my beloved peanut butter and maple syrup sandwiches!!
My Sunday flew by – went to church, came home and cooked lunch, ironed scrubs for the week, de-cluttered part of my closet, and spent rest of day reading Twitter and blogs! Total bum day for me. But I needed a do nothing day 🙂
I totally feel ya…it’s good to get a good guilt-free lazy day in every once in a while! Mmm, a peanut butter and maple sandwich sounds delicious! Reminds me of the cinnamon maple peanut butter I made a few months ago…deeeelicious!
Ohh man these looks so good and sound so good. I’ve actually never done the full Elvis combo but I’ve been meaning to for a while!
Actually until making these, I had only ever done the peanut butter and banana combo…I was always hesitant to throw in the bacon! Now I know what I’ve been missing all this time!
Elvis pancakes! Brilliant, woman! My bananas are now whispering this recipe in my ear. We’ll see who wins out tomorrow: the side of me that loves pancakes for breakfast, or the side of me that likes to sleep in so late that I don’t have time to make them.
Ohhh, the ultimate internal battle! Duh duh duhhhhhhhh! 😉
Hahaha, so ironic that the pancakes are vegan yet topped with bacon 😉
Bahahaha! I didn’t even think about that! Hmm, now I want to make them with fakin’ bacon just to veganize them! 😀
I’ve been wanting to see that movie… Actually, I’m lying. I have no interest in seeing it, BUT I keep hearing about how good it is, so NOW I want to see it 🙂
Those pancakes look… sinfully delicious!!
Folding and putting laundry away is the worst! That’s the reason I hate doing laundry. I actually like the washing part- there’s something so satisfying about putting really sweaty workout clothes in the washing machine! Putting them away, though… ugh. It doesn’t help that I don’t have a dresser or a closet!
Oh my gosh, where in the world do you put your clothes?? Don’t lie, you totally have a dresser and closet, but you’re hoarding cans of pumpkin in it! Hahaha!
WOW! I may not eat bacon, but THESE pancakes looks heavenly! You luck girl:)
wow what a recipe! Your combinations always blow me away. You get the creativity award for sure 🙂 I haven’t seen the King’s Speech yet but I’ve heard it’s incredible and I’m dying to see it! I spent my Sunday all lazy-like and pool-side. It was fabulous!
Those look FABULOUS! I always hear that bacon pairs well with stuff like pb and chocolate. I spent my Sunday enjoying the gorgeous weather, then shutting myself indoors at night to finish a psych report!
I might have to withdraw from reading your blog because you always make me want bacon. I don’t even think I’m one of “those people” that ever craved/lived for bacon….but damn, girl! haha. (just kidding about withdrawing from your blog. you’d have to duct tape my hands and feet for that. not sure what my feet have to do with being able to read … but I digress.)
I haven’t heard of or seen the King’s Speech. It’s going to be a crappy week, though; maybe a movie night (er…day….) would do me some good!
why do you always post so excellent posts!!!
they make me come to your blog so frequently in one day to check out for new post!!!
That looks delicious! When I started reading the post, I thought to myself “These should be called Elvis pancakes” when lo and behold, they are 🙂
Definitely bookmarking this for later!
no you did not! AHH i love love love it!! so many new twists on pb!
Wow.. they look amazing! I’m going to try these and sub with veggie bacon. I bet they taste incredible!
These look absolutely incredible! What a recipe!
I wondered when you’d make something Elvis inspired with PB!
I find savoury and sweet stuff odd together but I’d sure as hell give those bad boys a try 😀
I spent my entire Sunday furniture shopping for one room. It is insane how much time it takes to pick out a couch! I want my weekend back!!!
Aww, did you at least find what you were looking for?
Wow, I never would have thought! Haha, but they look AMAZING!
I love maple extract!! I make chocolate protein smoothies with maple extract and it tastes like butterscotch!
Ohh, that sounds great!
Mostly sleeping. And now I really reallyw ant pancakes… ahhh those look sooo good! I’d probably ditch the bacon (sorry!) but still 😉
<3
