Hello loves! Thank you guys SO much for all the awesome ideas for rhubarb! They all sound delicious! Now the problem is figuring out which one to make!
I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday…hopefully the rest of the week will continue to fly by since we are looking to have another gorgeous weekend coming up!
Be sure to stop by Jenn’s lovely blog over at Peas & Crayons and show your support of What I Ate Wednesday…and drool…and then go get you a snack because every one’s pics made you hungry…please tell me that’s not just me!
Coffee (7:00am)
1/2 caff…black…good!
Breakfast (8:00am)
Sugar Chocolate ‘n Spice Smoothie
Chocolate ‘n Spice Smoothie: (serves 1 very thirsty person)
- 1 cup milk (I used flax)
- 1 scoop protein powder (I used Tera’s Whey chocolate)
- 1 teaspoon carob powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 medium banana
- 2 big handfuls of kale
- 1 cup ice
Place all ingredients in a blender (or I used my food processor) and blend, blend, blend baby! The flavor of this smoothie was absolutely incredible! I loved the combo of the chocolate and maple extract (thanks for the idea Kayla!) and the hint of spice from the cinnamon was perfect!
Lunch (12:00pm)
Hummus ‘n veggie sandwich on sourdough bread
Kale, tomato, red onion, and yellow zucchini with nooch for sprinklin’
With a side of jaaaauicy black cherries
And a “special occasion” kombucha
Special Occasion = It’s Tuesday 😉
Pre & Post-Workout (4:00/5:oopm)
One of my favorite Larabar flavors
I actually hate the taste of traditional pecan pie, but I LOVE this bar!
Snack (7:15pm)
Gorgeous strawberries from the farmer’s market
while trying to decide on dinner
By far, the best strawberry I’ve ever tasted!
**Lightbulb**
Dinner (7:45pm)
Strawberries ‘n “Cream” Oats
with slivered almonds and chia seeds
Bedtime Snack (10:15pm)
A couple of handfuls Barbara’s Original Puffins ‘n a swig of almond milk
‘Cause I’m classy like that!
Who knows, maybe a few more days like this, and I’ll justify my produce buying addiction! 😉
What seasonal foods are you enjoying these days?
Strawberries and peaches are SO good right now! And I’m still craving watermelon!
oatmeal for dinner…way to be. haha
Love your WIAW! The first time i made strawberries ‘n cream oats I thought I’d died and gone to heaven.
Lovely idea for dinner! I bought the first norwegian strawberries today- cant wait to dig in!
I am loving peaches right now too!
We had some delicious strawberries two weeks ago at the Farmer’s Market. Sadly we missed last week because we were out of town but I cannot wait to go back this week for more fresh goodness! Perhaps to make this recipe for strawberry risotto: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2010/06/strawberry-risotto-recipe.html 🙂
Oh my goodness, that sounds INCREDIBLE!!
Fresh tomatoes right now are AMAZING.
Ahhh PUFFINS – my ultimate favorite cereal of all time and GAH the only way I can get them here in the UK is to ship them over..umm expensive…
Your strawberries and cream oats sound absolutely delicious!! I am lovin’ strawberries so much right now. I love summer berries 🙂
I LOVE PUFFINS. dry cereal = a perfect snack.
I’m enjoying peaches and melon!! I’m excited to see what we’ll get from our garden hopefully soon!
glorious! nothing like a cold citrus on a hot day.
Raspberries! I love them! They’ve been on sale so I’ve been buying them up. I also love strawberries and blueberries – my MIL sent me over fresh blueberries from her bush and they rocked. I just love all fruit – especially seasonal. I also love the Chilton county peaches in Alabama, they are wonderful.
I’m gonna have to try carob powder since you seem to like it so much!
Oh my gosh, it’s awesome! Soooooo much better than cocoa powder! The roasted flavor really comes through! And mixed with a little almond milk, it males the bet pancake topper!
I think raspberries is the only seasonal fruit I haven’t had yet…this needs to change very soon!
AHHH That strawberries and cream oatmeal looks GORGEOUS and delicious!
I’m with you on traditional pecan pie. I hate it. I can’t remember if I’ve tried the Pecan Pie Larabar or not… but I love all their flavors so I bet I’d like it 🙂
Your fruit looks goood! And I always need a snack after WIAW browsing, too–luckily it’s juuuust about lunchtime 😀
I need to either make or buy some hummus b/c that sanwich and I need to meet. i’m going to eat its face. yup =) why am I so weird today? haha!
Happy WIAW Heather!!!!! xoxo
I can’t believe I still haven’t had cherries yet this year. I need to remember to pick some up this weekend!
Yum!!! Those oats look AMAZING! How is the citrus kombucha flavor?? The pink one is my favorite, but I’m not a huge fan of the green one. I guess I like the sweet ones best 🙂
The citrus and the strawberry are my favorite ones! The citrus has just enough of a lemony orangey twist to it! You should definitely give it a try! Green?…gag! 🙁
Am I the only one who looks at people’s pictures for a couple of minutes trying to decipher everything before just going ahead and reading what it is? I hope not. Me, looking at your sandwich: “oh my god, that tomato looks HUGE. or maybe it’s just small bread. No, I think that’s a HUGE tomato. And what kind of cheese is that? It’s got…weird…patterns…whaaa…? oh…zucchini. Okay, that looks like zucchini.” haha. i guess i like playing guessing games?!
I LOVE fresh berries this time of year. And tomato and hummus sandwiches/salads out the wazoo, too.
Haha! I do the SAME thing! Too funny you thought the zucchini was cheese! Haha!
Oo girl you know I’m lovin’ your oatmeal dinner! I may or may not be slightly addicted to doing that myself (like, almost every night this week addicted). And I’ve been lovin’ me some strawberries too. It’s funny because just the other day I caught myself saying “this is def. the best strawberry I’ve ever tasted”. I need more watermelon in my life, though. Lately it’s been all about the cantaloupe!
girl love the strawbs! and LOVE the dinnah!! im loving NANNERs cuz they get ripe faster in hot weather 😛
Am I the only weird one who likes a banana after it’s sat in the car for a few hours and gotten ripe and warm? I think it’s delish!!
YUM! That dinner looks amazing.
(okay, it appears as though I’m the only one, but for some reason the photos on your blog looked warped, stretched. maybe it’s me?? I’ll check on my mac when I get home. despite this, you managed to make me HUNGRY 🙂 )
I am on a strawberry and peach kick too! 🙂
Breakfast for dinner sounds amazing. I need to do that soon. You can never eat too much breakfast food! I am thinking carrot cake french toast!
Carrot cake French toast?! Mmm! That sounds like absolute Heaven!
I could LIVE off breakfast for every meal without a doubt!
This may sound odd but your meals always look so clean and well put together. I’m jealous. Mine look like slop on a plate! haha
Haha! Sometimes my eats look like a sloppy mountain of…well, whatever I end up throwing together! 😉 I’d say about 50% of the time, I prettify them and 50% of the time I don’t care what it looks like just as long as it gets in my belly before I start gnawing my arm off! Haha! 😛
flax milk? What is this new item??
I need to try breakfast for dinner. I just can’t seem to do it for some reason….gah! I love your bedtime snack. I’d swing that way as well. and I totally take swigs out of the milk container!! almond milk is the best. I’m loving plums, apricots and nectarines!!mmmmm
Hey, the way I figure is there isn’t going to be anyone else sipping from my carton, so why not?! haha!
The flax milk is new…I’ll be doing a review in an upcoming post! 🙂
Mmm, apricots!!
Yes, I love breakfast for dinner! Strawberries and yogurt were made for each other. I am loving all fruit lately, but I can’t find cherries for a good price anymore! So devastating.
I thought I would let you know that there’s something about each one of your posts that always makes me smile! I always feel a little bit happier after I read every day 🙂
Aww, thank you Kate! And just so you know, YOU just made ME smile
I wish I’d eaten with you! YUM! I’m loving strawberries and cantaloup lately! I can’t get enough of the stuff this season!
I still haven’t tried Puffins 🙁 They look so yummy and those oats for dinner look delicious!
flax seed milk, ya say? Is that a homemade recipe or store bought? Do tell 🙂
I really think I need to invest in some puffins but they’re so dang expensive. What’s your favorite flavor? Naturally I’m gravitating towards peanut butter but the honey don’t sound shabby either.
another lovely WIAW Heather. Keep ’em coming, please please please 🙂
p.s. is that red and white strawberries n’ cream bowl from the dollar store? I could have sworn I saw it in mine the other day when I was browsing for cheap dishware and place mats! !
Yep! You caught me! I got that one and a few of my other favorites from the dollar store! Love the deals!
I’ve only ever tried the original, the cinnamon, and the peanut butter ones. I was a little shocked at the size pF the PB puffins…they’re like double the usual size…i’s crazy! I think my fave so far would be the original…perfect with a splash of vanilla almond milk!
The flax milk was store bought…review will be in an upcoming post! I know…I’m SO secretive! 😉
I’ve haven’t pb puffins in such a long time. I used to eat them by the boxful basically. LOL.
I’ve been loving peaches too!!!
mmm all of your eats look wonderful! 🙂 I especially like your smoothie and oats Yum! 🙂
Such wonderful photography as well! 🙂
Thank you Jenny!
I’m diggin’ these WIAW posts!! I’m gonna join the fun when I start blogging again (In a few days or so, I’m really starting to miss it already 😉 )
I’m LOVING peaches!!!
It’s so much fun Lauri! Who knows, maybe this little break will make you enjoy blogging even more! Absence makes the heart grow fonder! 😉
Great minds must think alike because I raved about the strawberries that are so amazing right now in my post too 😉 I’m also loving watermelon!
your photos are blowing up my google reader. did you do something to the size?
i dont like pecan pie either in real life, but maybe id like the larabar version too. hmmm
That’s weird, I’m using the same size I’ve been using for the past 6 months or so! Hmmm
Since I’m at home I make my mom buy ridiculous amoutns of produce and pretty much down it all myself… blueberries, strawberries, some watermelon, mangoes… love! 🙂
