Don’t Mind Me…I Just Left My Brain in California

Hey guys!

Sorry to tease you with today’s wordlessness. I really wanted to do a full post, but with my crazy schedule this week, there just wasn’t any time!

Not only have I been super busy at work this week, but I SWEAR I have some sort of delayed onset jet lag…like DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) for your brain. Yay! :-/

I felt fine on Saturday, but since I woke up (read, pried myself out of bed) on Sunday morning, I’ve been…well, sucking…for lack of a better word.

I attempted to set my internal alarm clock straight last night and popped a couple of Benedryls at 8:45pm. Worked like a charm they did! Yeah…I was comatose by 9:15pm and when my alarm went off at 5:00am this morning for my workout…

I felt like I’d been hit by a bus.

No more experimenting with over the counter pharmaceuticals! I went ALL day today feeling as if I stayed up all night partying…and I didn’t even have any good stories to tell! 🙁

Tonight, I’m trying again…this time I’m taking the holistic approach:

And if this doesn’t work, I’m gonna need the number to a REALLY good hypnotist…or a plane ticket back to Cali!

Whichever is cheaper 😉

Have you ever struggled with jet lag? What helped you to get back on track?

  1. Aww girl, I’ve made the same mistake! Except my drug of choice was NyQuil. Equally as dangerous! Live and learn, right? :-p I hope the holistic approach is more gentle, and that you wake up feeling refreshed and revitalized!

  2. Ugh I have a love-hate relationsihp with sleeping pills. I love that they give me the ability to sleep through the night. I HATE that they make me feel, as you said, like I was run over by a truck. Like, actually. So much dragging of feet, limp eyelids etc…

I honestly don’t think I usually get *too* badly jetlagged, or if I do it’s mostly because I’m falling asleep and waking up super early and it just takes a few days to get back int eh swing of things. For some reason when I come back the other direction from places I usually just don’t sleep enough & crash fairly early but sleep in anyways. Now, insomnia, on theo ther hand, is my best frenemy. Sigh.

cali misses you! Actually I’m not in cali right now either but hey 😉

i think a plane ride back to cali might do the trick.

I have never traveled like that to be jet-lagged but I figured you must be really worn out because I didn’t see where you entered my giveaway on Eden’s blog! But you have time 🙂 (of course that is, if you are even interested in the stuff!)
Well I hate you arent feeling your peppy self, but you’ll be a bouncing Tigger in no time!! At least your trip was great fun despite the jet-lag now.
Drink plenty (maybe some of that Smart Water with electrolytes) and perhaps Yoga??

That’s a great idea, Missy! I hadn’t thought of trying yoga. I am doing much better on the water front today and am starting to feel somewhat normal now.

I did enter the giveaway last night after I got home…couldn’t enter when I first saw it since I was on my phone at work (I HATE having to fill in all those little boxes on my phone!) You’ve got a great spread there…I couldn’t resist! *fingers crossed*!

  5. PB&Jenny says:

    boo 🙁 feel better, lover!

  6. I wish I’d traveled somewhere where the time change was so different I HAD to deal with jet lag.

    If that makes any sense?

    Feel better soon!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Makes total sense! This was actually my first big trip! Before Cali, the furthest west I’d been was a weekend trip to Texas for a friend’s wedding!

  7. Lauren says:

Bahaha, love those comics! I have post-vacation depression, is that the same thing? Sometimes a vacation is so good that when I get home I feel all mrehhh and just want to go back on vaca so I have a hard time feeling motivated to do anything really. It’ll pass!

  8. When I lived in Indiana and visited Arizona it took me a few days to adjust to the time difference. And then as soon as I got use to it, I had to go back!!

I had a bad experience with NyQuil before. Will NEVER use that stuff again.

Oh yeah, Nyquil is no joke…my uncle used to joke that it was the “nighttime, sniffling, sneezing, wake up on the kitchen floor” medicine! That stuff will KNOCK YOU OUT! Haha!
