Vegan Cheeseburger Dip

Wow guys!

Thank you for all the super sweet comments on yesterday’s Pancake Sunday post! I hope you will try these out for your next lazy weekend breakfast…or hey, dinner works too! We all know breakfast foods taste 500% better after dark πŸ˜‰

So as I mentioned last week, I had this past weekend to myself due to BB being out of town. With extra time on my hands, I did what every girl would do…I went (grocery) shopping, I watched chick flicks, and I played around in the kitchen a bit. And I ended up creating something pretty tasty!

It all started with this:

Am I the only one who thinks of cheeseburgers when I get a whiff of this stuff?

[source]

Now if only it tasted like a cheeseburger…

After spending five dollars on a jar of goop that tastes nothing like cheeseburgers…or anything tasty for that matter, I got to brainstorming. The first batch of dip I came up with had about a teaspoon in it…but then I realized you couldn’t even taste the difference if you left it out…

So, now I STILL have a half empty jar of “not a cheeseburger…or even a cheezburger” Marmite and nothing to do with it, but guess what? You have a new dip to try!

First, get out your favorite burger toppings…

Then shed a few tears thinking about how wonderful your new dip is going to taste…

Crack open a can of beans…any type will do!

Add a few spices and…

BAM!

Cheeseburger bean dip…with optional pickle garnish! πŸ˜‰

oh no no no, you must try the spread, not the paste. And its good with potatoes. Try marmite with cashew butter and tomatoes. Really!

very interesting! i wonder if garbanzo beans would work the same? cheeseburger hummus? hah

i’m def a dill kinda girl, unless we’re talking about tuna salad, then its sweet all the way.

and i spent my weekend freezzzzzing my butt off in wv trying to ski! looks like you had fun! happy valentines day!

I’m sure they would work great. The first time I made it, I used white beans and it turned out about the same…ends up looking like a really thick mustard! Haha! Since garbanzo beans are a little drier, you may have to add a little liquid, but probably not too much.

I saw on IG today that it looks like you froze more than your booty…hope your immune system kicks into gear soon and gets you feeling better! πŸ™‚

  3. Ok I think you win for most creative recipe of the week! This looks so cool!

Dill pickles all the way! Sweet ones are gross. πŸ˜›

  4. Good golly that looks good! Totally making it!!

Have a great valentines day love <3

  5. What an interesting take on Cheeseburger’s!! haha.. I love it. The dip looks very good and so easy to make.

  6. Oh yum, this looks just crazy enough to work! Fun creation I must try soon, thanks!

  7. Dill pickles all the way baby! This sounds awesome! I want this dip NOW! YUM!

  8. Wow…genius! This looks delicious. Especially bc I am a pickle fanatic! I could easily eat a whole jar in one sitting ha!

  9. I bought a jar of that crap once thinking it was Vegemite (which I really like) and was really bummed when I got this stuff home and cracked it open. Not good. I tried just about everything I could think of to use it up, but in the end, I had to just throw it away and call it a day. My friend’s puppy wouldn’t even eat it and she’ll eat pretty much anything (aka: cat poop). So sad

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh dear! :-/ Yeah, I guess I was expecting more of the “spreadable” consistency that I hear Vegemite is like. I’m still curious about that, but I guess this one is probably destined for the dump! Boo!

What in the world is liquid smoke??? It reminds me of the stuff my dad would put in the engine of his model train set to make it smoke lol.

I like dill pickles. Cannot stand sweet ones.

I spent most of my weekend in bed…with a cold :(. Went to a church dance with hubby, though. Was not going to pass up an opportunity to dance!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Liquid smoke is a natural flavor enhancer that gives food that “smoky taste” like you would get from grilling over charcoal. You can find it in the section with the BBQ sauces (usually out of eye-level). It’s great in burgers, meatloaf recipes, our doused on some chickpeas before roasting. A little goes a long way and the bottle is pretty cheap. Not so sure it’ll make a train set puff though! πŸ˜‰

Yay for dancing with the hubs! I wouldn’t pass up an opp like that either! Hope you are feeling better Robyn!

It makes me sad you don’t like marmite. It’s my 2nd favourite toast topping. A big old hunk of toast, load it up with butter or your favourite buttery spread and a whiff (yes, just a whiff!) of marmite or vegemite and you’re in savoury heaven.

I confess, I love it on my toast so much the only other thing I’ve ever bothered to do with it is spread it on crackers (again with butter! They’re a match made in heaven).

Hope you find a way to use it up. I’ve read that a lot of people add a few teaspoons of it to stews and soups and it’s meant to be nice with roasted meat dishes too.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hmm, I can see it working really well in a beef stew. Thanks for the tip! And maybe I’ll give it another shot with the butter…that might tone down the intensity of the flavor a bit! πŸ™‚

  13. Whoa this sounds awesome. And would go perfectly with my latest hummus invention – so making it soon!

  14. Um, YES. Cheeseburger anything sounds totally awesome right about now. My diet over the last few days has been bland and soft (yay sore throat!), so now I’m craving foods bursting with flavor!
