Happy Monday, friends and welcome to day ONE of
The Broccoli Birthday Bonanza! π
Before we get into our planned festivities, I believe it’s MORE than acceptable to pop open a bottle of wine and let loose a bit, right?
Hey, it’s five o’clock somewhere!
This year for Thanksgiving, I had the honor of making the cranberry sauce that would show up sit next to my father’s gelatinous mold on the dinner table. Since it’s MY blog’s birthday week and all, I’m gonna go ahead and take the liberty of saying that I TOTALLY outdid myself with this one! I mean, when your mom takes a taste test and can’t catch her breath afterwards, you KNOW you did good! π
I took a cue from my girl, Melissa, and decided to booze it up a bit this year and seriously, it made SUCH a difference! The red wine that I used is from a local winery here in Clarksville and is one of my absolute favorites…it’s very similar to a Cabernet Sauvignon but feel free to use a Merlot, Pinot Noir, or other dry red wine.
I LOVED the contrast in this sauce…the soft, squishy cranberries with the “pop” of the pomegranate seeds and then the faint hint of orange in the background? HEAVEN! I kept the sweetener low so it’s more on the tart side, like my family prefers, but if that’s not your deal, feel free to add a whole cup of your favorite granulated sweetener.
Boozy Cranberry Pomegranate Sauce
by
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Keywords: boil side cranberries Christmas Thanksgiving winter fall
Ingredients (Serves 6)
- 1 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
- 1 cup pomegranate seeds (from one medium-sized pomegranate)
- 1 cup of your favorite red wine
- 3/4 cup NuNaturals Tagatose (or other granulated sweetener that measures like sugar)
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
Instructions
1. Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized sauce pot over high heat.
2. Once boiling, reduce temperature to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes uncovered until thickened.
3. Serve room temperature or chilled with your holiday spread!
Oh and Broccoli Mama would like you all to know, as she insisted on telling me THREE times at the dinner table, that this is AHHHHmazing on top of roasted turkey!Β So maybe make up a batch to help all those leftover turkey sandwiches go down this week? π
As you may have noticed…you know, if you read the recipe and all…NuNaturals joined in on the holiday celebration this weekend! And seriously, if I wasn’t already smitten after makingΒ these beauties,
then I’d definitely be a convert now! Not a single person noticed there wasn’t any REAL sugar in this! That’s one of the things I love most about NuNaturals…quality.
The OTHER thing I love about them would be their FINE generosity!
To kick off KMB’s birthday week off right, NuNaturals is offering up a wonderful prize pack of their best-selling liquid stevias AND a 50-count box of powder packets. And while it may seem that the little bottle on the left is taking the whole “birthday suit” thing literally, that is actually part of the birthday surprise…along with a bottle of lemon and peppermint, one of FOUR winners will receive a bottle of the newest flavor to hit the market…CHERRY VANILLA!!
I haven’t yet tried this flavor myself, but seriously? HOW could you go wrong with that combo?!
Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. I reached out to this company on my own for the sake of Β the blog birthday celebration week. While I have been given free product from the company in the past, all statements expressed above are of my personal opinionΒ and I was not paid for this post.
Giveaway is open WORLDWIDE and will end Wednesday at midnight (CST)
Good luck, my little broccoli sprouts! π
Okay, so admittedly I already have a nice stash of NuNaturals, but I love it and a girl can never have too much stevia right? π And I would make your breath-robbing crnaberry sauce for Christmas of course!
I’ve been wanting to try NuNaturals stevia for quite a while! I would probably use it in the Holy Grail of fluffiness – pancakes π
The Holy Grail of fluffiness, huh? Haha, LOVE IT! π
NuNaturals is the only brand of stevia I like. All the others taste so fake to me, the only down side is that NN tends to be pretty pricey so unless I have a gift card I go for the cheaper junk then kick myself. Id love to win this prize and be set for awhile!
Coffee and tea sweetening for me!
Lol, Tagatose…my future child’s name AGAIN.
Cherry vanilla- wow, I only just tried normal vanilla stevia. Admittingly, I haven’t tried this brand before but I’m game! I’d use the nunaturals as a object to pose next to.
PS making your donuts this week. Even stole my mother’s donut pan π
Aww, really?! Yay! I can’t wait to hear what you think of the donuts! And yeah, I just want you to know that I will forever think of you any time I used tagatose now! Haha!
I would make a mug cake new recipe with it for sure!!
So excited this is a worldwide competition!
You’ve seriously made me crave red wine now though, seriously π
Happy Happy KMB Birthday!! (No Blogiversary here)
Seriously? Like SERIOUSLY?! As if that would be so hard to do! Hmm, now I’m thinking this would be good baked with some brie! π
I am not an alcoholic. They admit they have a problem. There is no problem here. Mmmm wine π
Can you imagine I never had Cranberry Sauce in my whole 36 years of life?? Unacceptable!! Please send some over….oh wait, there’s the recipe – I’ll whip up my own! YAY!
Haha! I love you, Lucie!! And seriously, fix that cranberry-less life problem ASAP! Lol
I would LOVE to try these!! π
I would try it in a few new baking recipes I have been meaning to make!
I would use it in coffee and oatmeal.
wait cherry vanilla? ohhhh my I need to try that. this stuff is the only thing I really like putting in my coffee
Yum cherry vanilla!
So intrigued by the cherry vanilla flavour! it be interesting to test that out in a mug cake. And p.s. as for the cranberry sauce, you had me at ‘boozy’! π
I love stevia in yogurt mixtures, tea, and baking! Recipe looks great!
Combining poms + crans + wine = genius! I can totally see how those flavors would be amazing together. Happy Birthday to KMB! I would use NuNaturals stevia in baking. I’ve never tried it before! I’ve only used powdered stevia.
I love the look of this sauce! I’m betting my son would love this, he’s crazy for anything pomegranate. And hey momma could take a sipsy while drinking right?! π
Happy bloggy bday! I’m DYING to try that cherry vanilla!
I’m going to bathe in these….just kidding!
Pancakes? Waffles? Mugcakes? Really Heather, you’re gonna make me choose?
I’d add this to cottage cheese or Greek yogurt!
Booze in all the foods! I’m loving this and I randomly have all the ingredients in my fridge. I need to make it now ’cause they’ll go bad while I’m in SF this week. I wonder if this freezes well? We’ll find out!
I use stevia almost every day! Yogurt, pancakes, coffee, tea… the list could go on and on
Cherry Vanilla sounds perfect for pancakes and yogurt!
The Cherry Vanilla would go straight into some greek yogurt for sureeeeee. And smoothies π
I’d use it in some yummy baked goods, and I also love adding booze to baked goods too. So perhaps I’d add both!
Haha! I like your style, Kaylin! π
I love unnaturals in tea!!!
PANCAAAAAAAKES! Cherry vanilla pancakes sound divine. With healthy chocolate sauce. Oh my I’m drooling.
I would probably mostly use it in pancakes or oatmeal!
I think it would be delishhh in oatmeal and coffee!! Ive never seen flavoured stevia in my town!
Cherry Vanilla!! Holy yum that sounds amazing! I bet it would be good in oatmeal!
You had me at boozy. π This looks fabulous!
Oh my goodness!!! NuNaturals as the giveaway? I’m dreaming, rightβ¦? I used to always be looking around and experimenting with different brands of stevia and they always tasted a little funny to me until I met NuNaturals. I have only ever used their packets so if I got these FLAVORED dropsβ¦ oh manβ¦ I would be in heaven! I would create millions kinds of oatmeal (since, yanno, I’m a poor college kid with only a microwave in my dormβ¦ oatmeal is all I can make) and jazz up my frothed milk that goes into my latte every morning!
I thought the same thing about other brands of stevia…always a funny little aftertaste…so I was pleasantly surprised the first time I tried NuNaturals. The company is awesome and I plan on working with them again in the next couple of months…I’ll be sure to give ya a heads up on the next giveaway! π xoxo
Wow, what am awesome giveaway! I would definitely use it in hot chocolate, pancakes, buckwheat bakes, overnight oats, etc., etc., etc. π
I absolutely love NuNatural products and would love to try these flavors!
I’d like to try the cherry vanilla in oatmeal. Yum!
I make a pretty good mug cake with the drops!
I still have yet to try NuNaturals!
I’d use it in all the holiday baking I have planned π
I’d use it in my tea and baking!
It would be great to win this! I’ve never tried liquid sweetener before! Crazy!
Thank you for giving me an excuse to open a bottle of wine this week π
Haha! Anytime! Booze it up, baby! π
This is genius! And perfect for the season too…already accepting the fact that alcohol will be running through my veins on the regular for the next month or so haha
Haha! Thank you, Gabi! And yeah, I’ve already been thinking about some ways to play around with egg nog too! π
I would use the Cherry Vanilla in oatmeal!! The rest I would have to play around with π
Love NuNaturals products! I’d have to say the peppermint is my favorite but I’d love the cherry vanilla!
Yeah! Booze it up π I’m so glad you took a tip from my boozy book! Mine turned out SO good too! Its almost like we ate Tgiving dinner together π
Haha! Right? Only ummmm….where’s my slice of pie?! π
I would use in my green smoothies, in my green juices, and in my homemade coconut milk ice cream!! best way to start the new year to come!
NuNaturals is the best stevia EVER!!
Ana
Oooh I just discovered NuNaturals and am in love…please fuel my obsession:) I would totally add mine to my cottage cheese!
#crossingmyfingers
Your blog is so inspirational!
Thank you so much for your posts and amazing recipes
Awww, thank YOU, Amy!! It would be all for nothing without all my readers out there…especially the ones like you who make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside with comments like these! π
Thank you, Amy! Thank you SO much!! π
I would use it to sweeten my tea, smoothies or oatmeal!
I use it in my smoothies!
I think I might be one of the winners? I hope so!!! If so, what do I need to do?
Funny story, my mom#2 actually works for Gallo Winery and she just sent me home with some goodies. A bottle of chocolate and berry red wine as well as a Red Velvet champagne. Now, Im not much of a drinker, but both those drinks have me drooling just at the name!!
As for your recipe, Ive actually never made anything apart from Sangria with alcohol!
Oh I love cooking with wine! It lends so much more flavor than water or broth! And I’ve tried some of that chocolate wine. The one I had didn’t taste much like wine…more like a creamy liquor but it was fantastic added to my weekend mug of coffee…just sayin’! π
You should bottle me up some of that cranberry sauce and send it over immediately. π I promise to eat it all and tell you about it. π I love NuNaturals stevia in everything – oatmeal, protein pudding, desserts, you name it!
Cranberries, pomegranates, and WINE!? This sounds ahh-mazing and it’s making me sad that I don’t have any of the ingredients hanging out to make some. I may have to head to the store on a “study break” so I can whip this up.
Ohhh, I do hope you get a chance to make it! I’ve tried a lot of different recipes/combinations for cranberry sauce, but this one is by FAR the best one I’ve ever made! I actually plan on making another batch in the next couple of days since I’m down to my last couple of spoonfuls but stil have PLENTY of turkey to eat! π
Wowza…double whammy! Great recipe and perfect place to use NuNaturals. I haven’t tried the tagatose or flavored ones though I was tempted at TJ’s last week. Not currently in the budget, sadly ):
Aww, thank you so much, Kolya! I’ve never tried the kind from TJ’s…and really I don’t use plain stevia all that much since I don’t really have a sweet tooth, but if you can ever get your hands on some of the flavored liquids, they’re definitely worth it in my opinion! Great for pancakes and oatmeal or even yogurt bowls! π
Oh this would be awesome! I would definitely try this cranberry sauce and use it in coffee and oatmeal!
I’d use the stevia in my coffee, oatmeal, baking, the opportunities are endless!
In tea/coffee and yogurt
I would use it in my oatmeal!
i like to use it in my many dip creations! always adds a nice flavor with a little sweetness!
Yum yum! Cherry vanilla! Happy Birthday to KMB! π
Thank you so much, Jen!!
i would use the stevia drops for pretty much everything, but particularly green smoothies! since i try to keep them minimal in fruit, the stevia drops (especially cherry vanilla) would be the perfect addition π
Pomegranate seeds in your cranberry sauce? Genius. Cranberries popping is hands down my favorite thing about Thanksgiving. Besides the eating of course.
You know I don’t think I’ve ever tried NuNaturals and I’m pretty sure I have like 10 recipes bookmarked that call for them…so I NEED these.
Yeah, I’ve done the pom seeds before, but this one by FAR is the best I’ve ever made! So much so that I’m totally making another batch this weekend since I still have plenty of turkey leftovers to get through! π
I would use it to make one of your pancake recipes of course!
I’ve never used flavored stevia, so I’d love to try adding these flavored ones to pretty much everything. I sense some lemon banana oatmeal in my future if I get my hands on this…
I’d add this to my oatmeal!
I’ve never true NuNaturals so I would definitely have a field day.. Especially with flavors like these!!!
I would start by attempting to make some exciting new pancake recipes as creative as the flavor combos the Pancake QUEEN.
Then I would play with oatmeal, baked goods and all that other fun stuff π
Well!! I’m totally grinning from ear to ear after reading this comment! You are SO sweet, Kayla!
Gosh I love your recipes!
I would add it in EVERYTHING- esp oats and coffee!
Aww, thank you, Katie! <3 <3 <3
Cherry vanilla would be SO good in an almond milk latte!
Cranberry sauce is my JAM! (hahaha see what I did there π ) But seriously I just made a double batch 3 days after thanksgiving because I ran out and we still had leftovers and ijustreallylikecranberrysauce. lovelovelove!!
I would use the stevia in ooooohhh everything!?! I’m a huge fan of stevia -nunaturals is my favorite brand!
Ohhhh, I LIKE what you did there! π And I’ve been thinking of doing the very same thing since I’m now down to my last couple of spoonfuls but still have PLENTY of turkey to eat! There will most definitely be a round TWO! π
My husband would find soo many uses for these stevias!!! With my gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance, and now having to be on the candida diet long-term…as the awesome cook he is, he reinvents and reworks so many reicpes for me so that I never feel deprived or left-out. He even made me my own Thanksgiving where I could eat everything!
Oh wow! That is SOME man you’ve got there! And a special Thanksgiving just for you? Amazing!! π
Hm that with turkey might just be amazing.
I’ve never tried it before, but think it would be especially good in tea, baked goods, and oatmeal!
I would use it in granola and other yummy baking recipes!
Wow this recipe looks awesome! I never actually tried stevia before so I would love too! It would definitely be amazing in oatmeal!
To show how much I adore Stevia, I wrote a little poem.
Eh hem..
Ohhhh Stevia. You make my heart Heavy-a.
Your sweetness so big and bottle so small,
Have me dancing for joy, my taste buds and all.
You help me each day by sending sweet love my way.
In pancakes and cocoa, coffee and jam,
Now cherry vanilla? I say, “hot damn!!”
Hahaha! Omg, I LOVE it!! Brav-OOOOO! *claps wildly* π
Oh this sounds good! I like the idea of adding Pom seeds and wine! I made a cranberry sauce with amaretto and oranges this year. I might have to try it with wine next time.
Holy MOLEY!! With amaretto? That sounds amazing!!
Pancakes or oatmeal! Breakfast is the best meal of the day π
Aaaaaaaaa-MEN!!!
I would love to use the cherry vanilla stevia to make a chocolate cake! Mhm, sounds like a delicious holiday treat..
I would use the stevia in my baking and oatmeal! I loveeee stevia. It adds the perfect sweetness (:
cranberry and pomegranate is probably a STELLAR combination!!!!
I think it would be perfect to add to a simple mug cake.
Most definitely in oatmeal and mug cakes! But that peppermint one would be fantastic for a homemade peppermint mocha! Yummy!
Better yet ask what not to use NuNaturals in. Yogurt bowls and mug cakes are a great way for sure. And I know you just forget to add in the description that you’ll add a jar of your cranberry sauce to the winners’ packages ;).
Haha! I totally would if I knew it would travel decently! I swear, I’m down to like my last couple of spoonfuls and I’m hoarding it! Looks like I’ll be making some more this weekend! Why don’t you come over and help me eat it! π
I’d use NuNaturals to bake holiday treats!
So you had me at the addition of booze. The pomegranates and the orange zest didn’t hurt either.
Booze, pomegranates and cranberries. Heather, you’re after my heart. Admit it. π Hell. Who needs the holidays to make this. I’ll whip some up next week. Happy Birthday KMB!!! <3
My thoughts exactly! I decided the other day that on my next trip to Costco, I’m totally stocking up on GINORMO bags of cranberries and stuffing them in my freezer! Lol
Thanks for the birthday love, sweets! π
