I Be Gyming

Goooood morning Vietnam blogworld! Two more days until the weekend…we’re almost there! Woot woot!

So last night, I went to the gym to do a little cardio before my friend was supposed to meet me for the Total Body Conditioning class. Note to self: the hill climbing program on the treadmill will kick your arse…especially if you’re only used to running on flat surfaces! Holy quadriceps!

Well, my friend had to cancel at the last minute, and while my first thought was just to forego the class and jump on an elliptical or something, I decided “eh, to heck with it” and went to the class alone and I ended up having a lot of fun!

I forgot how much I like “taking out my frustrations” on a punching bag!

Today, I’m going to try a class that they’re demoing called Body Attack…hmm, doesn’t that sound like fun?! No? Well, I do tend to be a bit masochistic when it comes to workouts! Haha!

Help me with something though…I usually have my afternoon snack around 4 0’clockish, but the class isn’t until 6:30 (when I would usually get hungry again)…what’s a good snack that’ll hold me over until dinner without “saying hello” during my workout?

This was my experiment yesterday

1/2 a banana warmed in the microwave and mixed with 2 tablespoons of peanut flour on whole wheat toast.

Delicious buuuuuuuut not so tasty the second time…

or the third… 🙁

I’ve had bad experiences with bananas as preworkout snacks and apparently, using half of one doesn’t make a difference! I need something that will fuel me for about 30 minutes of cardio and then a 45 minute class without weighing me down. Suggestions? I’m all ears!

WIAW: The Dairy Edition

Good morning peoples! Hope everyone is having a great week so far. Thanks for the advice yesterday on entering into the “forbidden territory” at the gym. I think I’ll try to work out in the morning on most weeks…I’d say all, but when I have to be at work at 6:30am, I know there is NO way I’m getting up THAT early!

I’m trying out my first fitness class tonight with a friend of mine. We tried to get into the Bodypump class last night but it filled up QUICK! So we’re going pop a tent outside the room get there super early for the Total Body Conditioning class tonight! Wish me luck!

Anywho! It’s Wednesday and I know what you came here for. Do you know what you came here for?…to drool over my food of course!

Breakfast (6:00am)
Greek yogurt, chia seeds, black cherries, and this granola

Looking all purdy before I ran out of time and had to throw it in some tupperware and take it to work…

along with coffee on the go-go!

Snack (9:30am)
A good, but not life altering Luna Bar
…the Chocolate Peppermint Stick flavor owns my soul!

Lunch (12:30pm)
Whole wheat pasta topped with cottage cheese, hummus, sundried tomatoes, and zucchini with some (unpictured) nooch for sprinkling
and for dessert, a JAAAuicy peach and a dark chocolate Adora disk

Served cold because I’m hardcore like that…
aka too lazy to go back to the break-room to use the microwave

But you know what? Cold pasta rocks! I’ve been having the same thing for lunch all week just with different veggies!

See, this is why I don’t plan meals…didn’t I just cook up a big batch of tofu for my “lunches” this week??

Pre-workout Snack (4:00pm)

Dinner (7:30pm)
Cheesy spinach eggs and buttered toast with
cinnamon and raspberry rhubarb sauce

I’m going to be so sad when that sauce is gone!

Oh, and sorry I’m not sorry for posting breakfast for dinner for the um-teenth time!

There was also water involved in the course of the day…though not enough. I’ve been slacking again in the water department! Where’s Adam Sandler when you need him??

Odd Oats and Gym Talk

Hey hey! How was everyone’s first official day of summer? Not really sure about you guys, but mother nature seems to be a little confused over here in my neck of the woods.

Case.in.point.

Oh, that is just cruel.

So, since I’m sure you guys are just DYING to know what the solution to last night’s dinner dilemma was, I’ll tell you that I did indeed get some insight from the wise Oreo sage. Ok, ok, so maybe it was blogworld where I found my enlightenment, but the cookies were delicious! Creamsicle Oreos…get on that STAT!

I was craving sweet…

I was craving savory…

Hummus OR oatmeal?

What about both?

Sweet & Savory Oats ala Amanda!

I used Amanda’s recipe for eggy bananafied oats and topped them with cottage cheese, hummus, and blackberry jam.

And if that doesn’t weird you out enough, how about after the pic, I gave the bowl a light dusting of (unphotogenic)nutritional yeast to top it off!

I joined the Y!

I know, I know…I’m the one who dedicated an entire post as to why I prefer to workout at home versus going to a gym, but wait, hear me out!

I’ve gotten bored.

Plain and simple.

I love exercising…wait, no let me rephrase that…I love how I feel AFTER exercising and I love knowing that I am keeping my body fit and healthy by doing so on a regular basis, but if I see one more workout DVD within the next month, I’m going to scream!

Ahhhhhh!

And let’s face it, when it’s not raining constantly, it’s 600 degrees outside with 100% humidity!

So Y and I went out on a few “dates”…

I got to know his treadmills…his weight machines…and his pool?

Oh yeah, it’s big enough! 😉

Workout slump? What workout slump?

Now somebody tell me how to find the courage to enter “testosterone-ville” aka the free weight section? Go look at the best supplements to increase testosterone !
