Random Bits from the Broccoli Stalk

Hey peoples! Hope you are all having a lovely week so far! I loved reading about your bargains from yesterday’s Saturday Shopping Extravaganza post. Looks like I’m not the only one that knows how to snag a deal or two!

For tonight’s postage, I’d like you all to know that the lovely Emilia of Namaste Gurl recently awarded me with the Versatile Blogger award!

Don’t applaud…just throw money! 😉

In order to accept this award, there are a few rules:

  1. Thank the person who awarded you and link back to them in your post.
  2. Tell 7 random facts about yourself.
  3. Pass the award on to 15 new-found bloggers.
  4. Contact each blogger you want to pass the award on to and let them know you’ve done so, and let the giver of your award know whether you accept it or not.

Ok, so after this post and that post, let’s see if I can come up with 7 things I haven’t already clued you guys in on!

1.) I have never, ever played the lottery or gambled a day in my life. I like my money, I work hard for my money (so hard for the money! <-sorry folks, couldn’t help it), and I like to KEEP my money!

2.) I have many OCD tendencies…not the count the stairs I walk up or repeating words three times or anything, but for instance:

  • When I hang up my clothes, I HAVE to have the hanger hook pointing to the left and the clothing facing me
  • In the refrigerator, there is a veggie drawer and a fruit and cheese drawer…they do not cross contaminate
  • And last but sure as heck not least, the alarm MUST always be set to an even quarter (6:00, 6:15, 6:30, 6:45)! Seriously, I cringe at the thought of setting it for something off like 6:03!

3.) When I was in x-ray school, I once spent all day at a clinic site with another student replicating the x-ray in the intro to the show Scrubs . Needless to say that particular site was extremely sloooooooow!

And of course then we had to pose for a cheesy photo! 😉

Any Scrubs fans out there? I love me some Zach Braff!

4.) Speaking of television, I actually haven’t had cable/satellite at my house in over a year. I got tired of shelling out money each month for the handful of shows that I cared to watch. Do I miss it? Not one bit…just don’t take away my internet!

5.) I’m a Twilight fan…so shoot me! For the record, the books are SOOO much better than the movies.

But I won’t lie…I’ve seen all the movies in theaters…with my mom & sis!

6.) Every time my sis and I get together, we wind up taking 624 pictures of ourselves and half of them always turn out like this

And yes, we do have matching scarves from TJ Maxx!

7.) 1, 229…the number of pictures I took on my vacation to St. Augustine, Fl last summer. It’s still in the works, but there’s a very good chance that I’ll get to go there again this year! Woo hoo!

And now I get the privilege of passing this award on to some other amazing bloggers out there, and although I could sit here and list names from here to next week (there are SO many fantastic blogs out there!), I am going to shine the spotlight on 4 wonderful women in particular:

Jess from Healthy Exposures. I am in LOVE with this girl’s writing/photography/recipes! I’ve only been following her blog for a short time, but I am totally addicted! And I absolutely love her sense of humor!

Jenn from Peas & Crayons. Jenn and I have really gotten to be great friends over the last couple of months. I love her playful personality and creativity! And she is a genius at saving some money too!

Heather from Heather Eats Almond Butter and Allie from Live Laugh Eat. These two ladies are responsible for sparking my interest in healthy living blogs and then later becoming a blogger myself. From Heather’s HEABified Sloppy Joes to Allie’s Banana Avocado Bread, I entered my way into one of the greatest communities of people out there. I am so proud to call myself a healthy living blogger and so grateful to have all of you guys as readers!

Hope you enjoyed this little bit of randomness for the day!

Any vacation plans this summer? Do tell!

  1. I super love the sunglasses picture!!! So clever and cute! And I also love your pic with your sis… you guys look like you have so much fun! 🙂

  2. You have the prettiest color eyes!

I totally understand about setting the alarm for specific times- I would have a heart attack if I saw someone an alarm for a random time! Who would do that?!

    • My ex! If anyone is weird about numbers, it’s him…he sets his alarm so that either all the numbers added together equal 7 or there is a 7 in the time (6:01, 10:07…)

Thank you! You can thank my papa for those! 😉

  3. Haha it was via the avocado bread?! Did you tell me that before? If so, I must have forgotten. Thank goodness I made that thing, huh?

I have some random OCD tendencies but they are most definitely not the same as yours. Funny how that works!

    Thanks for the award m’dear!

    • You’re very welcome! And oh yeah, I was so hesitant to add the avocado, but you swore up and down that it was so good that I just had to try it! And then sure enough, it turned out to be one of the best things ever! Not long after that, I had my first green monster and the rest is history! Haha!

  4. you’re the blondest redhead I know =) bhahaha! I love you girly girl! Thanks for the awardage and the super sweet shout out!

I will fight you for zach braff. he’s my favorite =) garden state > scrubs but I still to this day watch many a scrubbles re-run! its true.

omg NEVER CROSS CONTAMINATE DRAWERS! totally agree!

    • I know, I know…howabout this random fact: I actually was born blonde! It just darkened over the years! So THAT”S where I get it!!

I seriously need to Netflix Garden State! The only movie I’ve ever seen him in was The Last Kiss annnnnnd it was HORRIBLE! 🙁 Please tell me GS is better!

  5. You and your sister are too cute and PRETTY!

I totally have to set my alarm to a multiple of five as well 😉

  6. Lindsay says:

Very cute! Love the matching scarves. lol. I also have some weird OCD tendencies. I like things in odd numbers for example. Always groups of 3, 5 or 25… even numbers bug the crab out of me! Weird huh?

St. Augustine is beautiful! I’m on the other coast in Sarasota, love it here too 🙂

    • It’s gorgeous! I couldn’t believe how many pictures I came back with! Of course it was also the first time I’d been to the beach in about 10 years so I guess it was a reasonable amount if you figure I had to make up for lost time! 😉

Oh yeah, I am a bit of a number freak too! Increments of 5 are my thing…it just doesn’t feel “even” if it’s anything else!

  7. Awww, thank you so much, Heather!! I’m not lying when I say I seriously look forward to reading YOUR blog with my breakfast every morning, too 😉
I loved finding out more about you, too! I have a thing for random facts. Even if I am awful at coming up with ones about me.
No vacation plans for me this summer! Now that you mention it, though…I wouldn’t mind a little weekend trip to Boston. Or at the very least Burlington…

    • You’re welcome sweets!

I love traveling, especially visiting big cities. I need to try visiting Nashville as more of a tourist…there are so many things I’ve yet to see it’s practically in my backyard!

  8. I am the complete opposite! I always set my alarm for 5:01 😉

  9. WOW that is SO many pics fromt aht vacation!! im so bad at taking photos when im out- i wish i would take more! I just hate carrying a camera-haha im lazykins! your mom and sis are so cute– you all look so PURRDY!

  10. Lee says:

I set my alarm to 6:51 so I can press snooze and it’ll go off again at 7!

  11. Heather!!! Thank you so much for your kind words. Reading this post was a great way to start my day. Plus, it looks like we’re going to have another beautiful day weather wise here in Nashville which always makes me happy.

I meant to tell you in your post from yesterday that you looked gorgeous with your wavy hair in your smoothie pic – had to tell you before I forgot.

Not a Scrubs fan although I do like Zach, but I am a Twilight fan – no shame! I like the books better than the movies as well, but I think I must have watched that scene from the first movie (the one where Edward wraps his arm around Bella and they walk into school for the first time together) at least 20 times on YouTube.

  12. I love the matching scarfs and that you and your sister love to be goofy together!!

We have 2 trips this summer. A mini weekend in vegas and then going to Italy for a few weeks!

  13. LOVE the last picture!!!!

  14. I love Scrubs! I love your OCDs! I think everyone has their fare share of them. I want to get rid of our DirecTV…I hate spending money on the crap. In fact, I’m about to lower the plan today…no need for all of it. I wish I had a summer vacation planned…maybe there will be one in my future.

  15. Jenny says:

I love that you have a veggie drawer and a fruit and cheese drawer!! Haha I have to see the inside of your fridge 😀 Love all the cute pictures

  16. Priyanka says:

I am the same with my hangers. We are still in the destination decision making process of our summer vacation.

  17. I love twilight too and the books are definitely way better!! This summer I will be traveling 11 countries in Europe for a month (rough life I know) 🙂

    • Oh wow! I’m sorry, let me pick my jaw up off the ground…ok, that’s better…nice, very nice! I am so so jealous! Is it school related or are you just like the daughter to the queen of England or something? 😉

  18. Sarah Banks says:

I love the sunglasses sunset picture!

  19. elise says:

scrubs!!! i love it. i miss it 🙁
