WIAW: Fermented Tea & Toxic Grapefruit

Hell-O everybody! Whew! Today has been a lahoooong day! TGTMF (Thank God tomorrow’s my Friday)!

Thank you so much for your sweet comments about my run-in with the law yesterday! Let’s hope there aren’t any more super expensive Cadbury eggs in my future, right?

Good news! The garage door is FIXED! Yay! :-D

Now get this, the guy that fixed it said it had something to do with a component (whatever that is) and that he’s replaced a lot of them since all the storms started. He thinks it may have had something to do with lightning! And I thought I was just going crazy!

Speaking of crazy, it’s that time of week again where we crazy bloggers post picks of ALL the day’s eats…Happy What I Ate Wednesday! Be sure to hop on over to Peas & Crayons and check out all the goods everyone linked up today!

Continuing on down Megan’s List, we have HEAB’s Cookie Dough Smoothie!

Breakfast (8:00am)
Topped with peanut butter (that sunk to the bottom), carob powder,
and carob chips

I loved the combo of flavors in this, though I may use a little less nutritional yeast next time. I like how a little nooch gives a subtle nutty taste, but I thought a whole tablespoon was a little too much for me.

Most notable: this smoothie kept me full for four hours!

I don’t know about you, but I almost always get hungry 2 hours after having a smoothie!

Followed by Mr. 1/2 Caf Joe
and of course my vitamin candy ;)

Lunch (12:00pm)
TJ’s whole wheat tortilla stuffed with baby greens, carrots, black beans, nooch, and these guys:

My favorite salsa just met its new best friend!

TJ’s Greek blooby yogurt + chias and raw almonds

Snack (3:00pm)
Organic Braeburn apple
On sale at Kroger for…ready for this?

88 cents a pound!!

Not my fave, but how could I pass up that deal?!

Afternoon pick-me-up (5:00pm)
Did you know if you put a kombucha to your ear, you can actually hear your cells chanting
“We love you! We love you!”?

I’m serious…try it!

Toxic Treat (6:00pm)
Hazardous half a grapefruit

What??

I was at work and needed a zippy! ;)

Dinner (8:00pm)
Snack plate with Yogi Ginger Tea (fave!)

Broccoli, carrots, and the last of the Mmm sauce :(
and
TJ’s Cinnamon Cats & carob chips for dessert!

I may or may not have run out of Mmm sauce and finished my carrots after a dive into a jar of sunflower seed butter!

I may not like carrots in AB or PB, but SSB…folks, we have a winner! ;)

And last, but certainly not least my Camelbak bottle of cool, fresh agua x TWO!

Hmm, now I think want another carrot! No, strike that…I DO want another carrot!

I may have started a bad thing here! ;)

Quick, it’s time for breakfast…what’s it gonna be? Sweet or savory?
I go through phases, but I have to say that although I LOVE my eggs, most of my breakfast end up sweet!

  1. I love finding a blob of PB at the bottom of my smoothie!!!

I must try this red pepper spread from TJ’s after reading about your (& Christin’s) love for it.

Sunflower seed butter can do no wrong. :)

  2. My breakfasts are always sweet! If I had my way, I would eat breakfast food and no veggies for every meal, but I try to balance it out :)

Do you get your candy vitamins at Costco? I always think they look so delicious, so the last time I was there I bought a pack, and I think it’s the same kind! They are SO GOOD- I have to keep reminding myself that I can’t eat half the bottle just cause they’re tasty, because I may get a calcium overload, haha!

    • Sadly no, no Costco near me! :( I actually get the Up&Up brand (comparable to VitaFusion) from Target, but they may be the same ones. And yes, definitely hard not to go back and have “just a couple more”! NOT candy, Heather!

I could so live off breakfast for every meal!

  3. Except for the occasional avocado toast, I’m a sweet breakfast gal. And that cookie dough smoothie is looking mighty fine!! Bookmarked!

Glad to hear your garage door is fixed! :)

  4. lindsay says:

you had me at fermented tea! and yes, you can hear the sounds of cells. haha. Glad your day was better Heather!

  5. Lee says:

I’m definitely a savory breakfast girl. Whenever I eat something sweet, I feel snacky afterward.

  6. Jenny says:

confession: i look forward to wednesdays ever week solely for your WIAW posts. Your photography is just brilliant and your food always looks amazing!

  7. i don’t think i can remember the last time i had a savory breakfast!!
that cookie dough smoothie looks amazing. i was really confused when you started talking about nutritional yeast being in it, so I checked it out and sure enough; nutritional yeast. sounds odd, but a. i love odd things and b. i don’t knock anything til I’ve tried it…so now I think I HAVE to try that!

  8. AHAH I LOVE YOUR DINNER! that is so cute– its a bunch of random snacks – LOVE…
UMM SWEET ALWAYS! i never crave savory in the morning.. or ever for that matter!

  9. I love that red pepper spread! It is so good! I need to try that smoothie. I don’t do smoothies for the reason that they never satisfy me as a meal. This one looks like it could do the job and it’s oats! My favorite food! Oh and sunflower seed butter is amazingly delicious, right?! I hope you have a great day Heather!

    • Definitely give it a shot girl! This one and Kath’s dough boy smoothie were both extremely filling…total shocker! I love that they’re spoonable too, because I ALWAYS get hungry within a couple of hours if I drink my meal. Must be some weird mental thing about using eating utensils?!

  10. caitlinoco says:

I love carrots in ssb! And everything else I can find in ssb… have a great day, almost the weekend!

  11. Mmmm fermented tea :)
    Your baggie backs me giggle!

  12. Emilia says:

I just tried Kath’s doughboy smoothie, and HEAB’s cookie dough one is next on my list to try! How are we so similar in those ways? It’s scaryin’ me here :)
Yum- I love snack plates for meals- they’re only the best :)

  13. Sarah says:

i love ssb! and kombucha. i don’t know about my cells, but my taste buds sure do get excited when i drink one of them! :)

  14. Missy says:

Ha ha ha! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who has eaten food out a Biohazard bag! I’ve been in those situations where I needed one and it had to do. My hubby freaked out and couldn’t believe it. I told him it wasn’t like there was ever a specimen in it!!

Love these pics! Those smoothie bowls always look SO good!
Hope you did not get much bad weather up that way.

    • Haha! Isn’t it crazy? I’ve been so desperate, I’ve used a small emesis basin as a “plate”! You should have seen the looks I got from that one! Oh, and I was eating an enchilada! Lol!

  15. I definitely used to be more of a savory person, but now I love sweet breakfasts! :) Love the toxic grapefruit bag!

  16. bahahahaha zippy? i love it!!!!!!!!!! I’m holding my kombucha to my ear… all i hear are fizzies =) teehee!

  17. Your dinners resemble mine! My boyfriend never likes it when I’m in charge of dinner because I snack on the most random things lol. As for breakfasts? Have to be sweet sweet sweet. There’s no other way to start the day :)

  19. Oh my goodness, I totally hear you about the kombucha. I just had one and my cells are definitely chanting! I started making my own and love it. I drop a raspberry or a slice of ginger into the bottle and let it sit in the fridge overnight. Mmmm. I also really like making a vanilla version – tastes like cream soda!

That is so funny to see your ziplock. My in-laws work at hospitals and they gave us some baggies one time so I had one in my freezer at work with a muffin in it. When I was out on maternity leave, someone found it and thought I really had hazerdous material in my fridge. Too funny!

I love my camelbak too. I just but a kids version for Annabelle since she kept taking mine and drinking from it. :)

    • Oh wow! You make your own? I’ve always been a bit intimidated by self fermentation…just typing that sounds creepy! ;) But vanilla that tastes like cream soda? That’s it, I’m coming over!

Haha! I can just your co-workers faces at the sight of your hazardous muffin!

  20. YUM!!! Heather, I just tried your Whole Wheat Pumpkin Pancakes, and I LOVE THEM! :D

  21. I am madly in love with the biohazard ziplock bag!! And see… who’s the bad friend when I’m commenting on your WIAW post on Monday? ;)
