Five Things Friday

Hello my little carob chips! How are you this evening? Probably frickin fantastic since we made it to yet another weekend! I swear, for the most part, I thought this week would never end, yet today went by in a flash! So, anybody got any big plans for this weekend? I’m on call, so that pretty much cancels out a lot of activities for me…so please…let me live vicariously through you! πŸ˜‰

So, as I was thinking of an idea for tonight’s post, I realized that my evening can pretty much be summed up in pictures…

Gym time!

Tried out the arc trainer today for some cardio and then enjoyed making an a$$ out of myself in a small zumba class…oh yeah, this white girl has moves…

like a stick! :-/

Breakfast for dinner

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagain! πŸ˜‰

Egg white omelet stuffed inspired by my pre-workout snack from the other day and topped with carob chips

Plain hummus, peanut flour, 1/2 a banana, and maple extract…

Mmmm!

A “surprise” visit from my man Dex

Maybe being on call this weekend won’t be so bad after all!

Oh, and I came home to this little gem!

Seems like the city of Clarksville is not a fan of my yard!

Apparently the weeds at the edge of my property are

“out of control”

10 days or I could get charged up to $350?!?!

Hmm, looks like Dex is gonna have to wait until I get back from Lowe’s πŸ™

So, before I head out for the night to research the newest member of the broccoli household, I have some exciting news! How about some giveaway winners?

Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway!

Ladies, email me with your addresses and I’ll get your Flax Sprinkles in the mail ASAP!

What is one great thing about your day today?

What are your plans for this weekend?

  1. I know this isn’t actually funny, especially for you, but I got a kick out of the fact that your town doesn’t allow weeds. I always joke that I live in “hickville,” but sometimes I think there’s some unwritten competition that “he who has the highest weeds reigns supreme.” We clearly loose the battle, but driving down my road the contenders are all pretty neck and neck…anyways, hope you’re able to get it sorted out soon!
And hey, at least you were brave enough to try Zumba. I look at people doing zumba and feel discombobulated! lol. World’s most uncoordinated person, right here.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

That is kind of funny…I’m picturing neighborhood kids getting lost in 6 foot tall weeds! Haha!

Oh and when I said I “tried” Zumba, that’s exactly what I meant…I TRIED! The other girls might’ve been Zumba-ing…I don’t know exactly WHAT I was doing! Lol!

  2. That makes me glad that I live in an apartment. They do the weeds for me πŸ˜‰

  3. I’m sure I would look that way at Zumba. UGH, that fine. That is why I want nothing to do with a neighborhood. Not that I don’t like a nice yard, but I hate people telling me what to do with it. I hope you have a good weekend!

  4. Missy says:

Wow, just wow on that ordinance! That is really strict! Yeah, better get to Lowes or hire someone quickly!

That “brinner” looks good. One question though, I am curious, why do you use carob chips/powder over chocolate (like Hershey’s cocoa). Is it better for you? or do you just like the taste? I don’t know if I have ever tried it but am curious George here since you use it alot.
I had never thought or heard of sweet eggs until I started reading blogs but it is on my list of things to try (but when I want eggs, I love em with cheese and lots of pepper and salt!) So my savory tooth seems to win on eggs – but maybe one day soon πŸ™‚

Sorry you are on call, but maybe it will be a calm weekend. Have a good one regardless!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Funny you should say that about the eggs because I just finished an egg and cheese quesadilla with jam! Maybe give it a whirl…a little savory…a little sweet?

I use carob more simply because I prefer the taste, but I also like knowing that I can get my “chocolate” fix without the caffeine. And if I get a sweets craving at night, carob doesn’t seem to cause me to have such weird dreams like chocolate does! Haha!

Annnnnnd done! Went with my dad earlier and I am now the proud owner of a sexy orange weed eater! πŸ˜‰

      • Missy says:

Oh so no caffeine in carob? That’s good to know cause I get PVC’s with too much. I’ll have to find some now!

You must get pics of the orange weedeater with the orange cat!

  5. Breakfast for dinner! BIG fan πŸ˜€ And I haven’t been brave enough to try Zumba yet. I love dancing, and it’d probably be something that I’d really enjoy… but I need to work up the courage first… or just take some shots before hand πŸ˜‰ We’ll see what happens.

One great thing about my day so far has been warm coffee and oats for breakfast on a dreary morning. And later on I plan to do some shopping and hit up the farmer’s market πŸ˜€

  6. Oh my that omelette looks crazy good! Can’t believe you got that notice for your yard! I’m hoping for some recent weather here in the UK for a change, today me and my hubby went out for breakfast for the first time in ages so that was a great way to start the weekend! Hope your having a good one!

  7. Yay! Thank you so much! I had to actually go back and check if that was actually me because I rarely win things, haha. I’ll email you in a minute.
I hope your yard stuff gets figured out. I can’t even imagine how much we would get fined. We have 3/4 of an acre that was like completely overgrown up until this year. And even this year the edges all look like that, haha. I love the comment Jess left above because that’s totally where we live too. Except we live in town so people are a bit pickier, but where we wish we lived it’s totally a contest πŸ˜€

  8. Chelsea says:

$200 for not mowing your grass?!?! Wow that’s insane haha! People out here get fined for that as well but I think they should be fined for not watering grass. I mean dead grass and brown looks a lot worse in my opinion.

  9. I haven’t tried zumba yet, but I did do a cardio class the other day where I was the lone student and the instructor tried to get me to do Brazilian dancing. I think i took ‘awkward dancing’ to a new level.
My coordination is no bueno. It was fun though! πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh girl, me too! By the time I would get a certain move, the instructor was already moving on to something else! I was all over the place!

  10. I would never think to combine all those flavors in your omelet, but it looks gooooood! I’ve always wanted to try Zumba but I feel like a dufus dancing πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh, I’m pretty sure I looked like a goon, but luckily it was a small class (only 6 or 7 other girls) and half of them looked just as stupid as I did! Haha!

  11. Allison says:

Oh myyyy goodness. That stuffed omelete looks amazing-like a crepe! You are so creative, my dear.

  12. Mrs. Fish says:

If we were closer, I’d send my husband your way! He LOVES to cut grass! πŸ™‚

  13. Megan says:

YUM. Breakfast for dinner in the way to go. Love all the things you put in your omlet, must give that a try πŸ™‚

Eek that’s a lot of money for weeds D: we rent our house and part of the rent is paying a dude to do that stuff for us thankfully!

  14. You come up w/ the CrAzIeS concoctions! Hummus n eggs?! Was it good??

We had that same issue w/ the city in our old house, oops.

I’ve tried zumba once. ONCE! Not for me.

No big plans this weekend, just packing up the house for our move. Oh, joy.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Have you ever tried dessert hummus? That’s what it tasted like…almost like cookie dough! Soooo good!

Yeah, this girl will NOT be zumba-ing again any time soon! I swear the instructor had no backbone…half the time, I was just standing there with a weird look on my face thinking, HOW IS SHE DOING THAT?!?! Haha

      Packing’s fun…it’s the UNpacking that I dread!

  15. PB&Jenny says:

don’t they know that you have better things to be doing than mowing your lawn? like cooking fabulous meals and watching Dexter. Clearly Clarksville has no conception of what’s important in life.

p.s. I am absolutely obsessed with Dexter! Gingie and I literally plastered ourselves on the couch over winter break and watched seasons 1-4 in like, 2 days. I can’t wait for the new season in the fall!

  16. elise says:

WTF!!! is that for real. thats insane. weeding is the worst. my parents used to make us do it on the weekends. ick.
loooove dex, though. i cant remember what season im on!! is season four the one after the miguel season? i think thats the last one we finished.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yep that’s the one. Honestly, I thought season 3 was a bit boring and predictable, but so far season 4 is much better!

Hate weeding! I have half a mind just to forget the grass, pave the entire lawn with asphalt and paint it green! Lol

  17. janetha says:

GAH! That fine would blow. Better get mowin!
