TJ Ma-Friday

Please excuse the interruption of your regularly scheduled program.

California Friday will continue as planned next week but today there is more urgent news at hand!

TGIF…no, no, wait a minute…

Tβ€’Jβ€’Maxx Friday!

[source]

After work today, I ran down the road to PetsMart to pick up some food for this guy and welllllllll, since I just happened to be in the same shopping center as TJ Maxx (I only wish ours was as big as the one in the picture)…c’mon, I couldn’t NOT go in, right? πŸ˜‰

So the first thing I did (which is the first thing I always do) was walk through the aisles of purses…

After not really seeing anything jump out at me, I moseyed my way on over to the shoes (this is sounding like a set up to a bad stereotypical joke, huh?)…

(And apparently I’m obsessed with parentheses tonight)

Now I know not all of you may understand my excitement, but as soon as I turned the corner, I saw these babies:

Besides these, I consider Merrell’s to be the holy grail of
“nursing shoes”

I already have a pair of the Dansko’s, but as most hospital employees who have them would attest, they take some “getting used to” and frankly, my feet just haven’t been in the mood to “date” lately…they much prefer the “sweats, ice cream, and a chick flick scene”…aka, my trusty (and very old) sneakers.

I’ve wanted to try a pair of Merrell’s for the longest time, but these kind of shoes don’t come cheap…and I already shelled out $100 for my other ones that see more of the inside of my closet then the bottoms of my feet. That’s where TJ comes in:

Frickin’ heck yeah!

Now while I couldn’t argue the price, it was still quite a bit of money and I’ve been burned before, so I decided to take them for a good test drive before I made my decision (yep, I totally walked around the store for like 30 minutes WHILE wearing these). And well, next thing I know I’m in the home-goods section frantically tweeting:

And that’s when the fun mayhem fun began!

Remember when I said I was going to order this granola online a few weeks ago?

BAM!

It’s like the TJ Maxx fairy came! The only thing that could make this better would be if they had thatΒ vanilla bean pasteΒ that Janetha taunted me with back in December but I’ve yet to find…

What tha…?

Ok, ok…just a coincidence I’m sure. Hmm, howabout that mustard I was going to buy last week but decided not to spend $4 on?

Shut your pretzel dippin’ face!!

And now, TJ Maxx fairy, I wish forrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

A Vitamix for under $100!

*crickets*

Ok, um…I’ll let you get back to me on that one!

Until then, I think I’ll just do a little happy dance in my new shoes!

Obviously the test drive was a success!

Have you ever spotted something at a store that you instantly became giddy over? What was it?
Giddy is not EVEN the word for my reaction over seeing the vanilla bean paste! I yanked that thing off the shelf so fast, I looked around to see if anyone saw me. Then I tucked it close to my chest and whispered “my precious”…

What is your biggest retail weakness (not including the grocery store my dear foodies)?
TJ Maxx is my faaaaaaaaaaay-vorite!

  3. What a FUN shopping trip!! Glad you found so many ‘Goodies’! I like to hit up Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and Ross (They are all in a row over by where we live)!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ohh, that trio would get me into trouble for sure! Clarksville is actually getting a BBB here pretty soon! I’m so excited! I could spend hours in that place!

  5. I Loooooove TJ Maxx and Marshall’s is another one I get in trouble at πŸ™‚ That’s where I got my own jar of vanilla bean paste! hollllaaaaa

  6. Woooooow! You are one LUCKY young lady! Haha…
That granola looked amazing and great price on the shoes πŸ™‚

  7. chelsea says:

Target is my go to shopping place haha πŸ™‚ I could go CRAZZZY in that store.

  8. Missy says:

You and I are identical twins when it comes to TJMaxx! When I go, I head straight to the “exotic” food section first! I’m so glad you found the vanilla paste. I had told you a while back that I’d found it there before and you were wishing and hoping to the Maxx fairies to find it – and you did! Now you just need to click your Merrells three times and do the Libby’s dance and maybe pumpkin will show up! (but you know where to find me if it doesn’t πŸ˜‰ )
I also love Ross, they have similar type stuff.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I know! Every single time I set foot in a TJ Maxx, I was on the lookout! Took long enough, didn’t it?! I’ll be sure to try the “pumpkin dance” before bed every night…hopefully it won’t take as long! πŸ˜‰

I’ve been to a Ross in Nashville. They didn’t have a huge selection in the foods section, but I did get some cute dishes…as if I needed any more! haha!

  9. OH MY!! first off, I wish our Marshalls and TJ Maxx was as large as the one in the photo. It would also be hard to not buy things though haha. I love it when the store fairy comes. What are you planning for the vanilla bean paste? I’ll be interested to see what comes out of that!
My favourite part in these store is everything. I could argue that I like the food/kitchen accessories part best, but you can’t argue with the amazing discounts on designed shoes and clothing, can you? I grew up in Merrells so I can attest to their amazing level of comfort. You wear those puppies!
    Pretty amazing.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks girlie! Not really sure what I’m thinking of doing with the vanilla bean paste. So far I’ve just been experimenting with it, but wow, it really is incredible! I think I might have to go back this week and see if they have anymore! Such a clean crisp vanilla flavor!

  10. Caroline Lunger says:

My store is any sports store! i love exercise clothes! everyday and any occasion!

  11. Lauren says:

My first job was at TJMaxx! And… I hated it ha ha. Not because I disliked the store, more because I disliked re-arranging bath towels and hanging clothes every day. But true story, my paycheck NEVER made it into my bank account. We could cash our checks in the store and I never left with any money!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh no! Haha! That would totally happen to me if I worked there…or at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods! Once I get going, I just can’t stop! :O

  12. Lizzie says:

i lovelovelove TJ max! I actually got my graduation dress there for $30 and it looked amazing! it was black with one shoulder and flowy and looked greek! πŸ™‚
ive always wanted to buy vanilla bean paste! im jealous u got some!!

  13. I spend so much money in TJMAXX. They have great clothes, shoes, and foodie items! It’s dangerous! πŸ˜‰

  14. You have such good luck!!! Congrats on all your finds. We have a store called Winners in Canada that is kind of like TJ Maxx – I love getting discounted organic/health foods there!

I definitely get giddy in stores too! I remember last summer when I finally found a store in Canada that sells Chobani and Oikos Greek yogurt, I literally squealed out loud! πŸ˜›

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Love it! The day I found my first kabocha squash at Whole Foods, I nearly jumped into the produce guy’s arms! I swear he probably thought I was nuts!

  15. PB&Jenny says:

*be still my beating heart*. I love you! love love love you! I completely know the feeling of “giddy-ness” you’re talking about it. I get it whenever I walk in to the gourmet food section at TJs. I don’t know how they manage to finagle those prices for such awesome foods and I don’t care, as long as they don’t stop πŸ™‚

p.s. isn’t that granola the best?! I love Erin Bakers! Have you ever tried their breakfast cookies?!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Actually, I won a giveaway on Averie’s blog…that’s how I first found out about Erin Baker’s products and then just a week or so ago, I stumbled across some of the breakfast cookies at Kroger on sale 10 for $10 so I snatched up one of each flavor. I think the oatmeal raisin is my favorite! Definitely good to have on hand when I don’t have the time to make a decent breakfast!

And of course I knew my fellow “maxxonista” would approve of this post! πŸ˜‰ Love you!

  16. You just reminded me of how much I MISS TJ Max!
