Pumpkin, Paparazzi, & A Photo Montage

Hey peeps!

I have some sad news…

For the first time ever, since my little broccoli blog found itself into this world 10 months ago, there was no celebration for Pancake Sunday.

Butttt, it DOES have it’s very first piece of memorabilia! ๐Ÿ˜‰

To say this weekend has been busy would be an understatement. Allow me to play it back for ya!

Prepare yourself for a photo montage…

Wait? What’s that?

Oh, just FIFTEEN cans of pumpkin…that’s all! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh and speaking of pumpkin,

I finally made it into Starbucks for some pumpkin spice crack ala an Americano with steamed soy milk.

Hmm, who could that be in the hiding behind my cup??

I kid (shameless pun) you not, Nicole Kidman was right next to me in line at Starbucks this morning…and I now realize that I have some mad paparazzi skills…I really should think about taking up a second job! ๐Ÿ˜‰

After my celebrity spotting, more excitement awaited…

True story: I’m on the interstate and I just happen to look over as I pass an exit with a Super Target. I pulled off at the next exit and turned around JUST so I could finally say that I’ve been in a SUPER Target!

And of course I managed to find some goodies!

I had to get my hands on some of the Dunkin Donuts pumpkin spice coffee since I’m squash junkie I saw it on Katie’s blog last week and well, the other items just “magically appeared” in my basket ๐Ÿ˜‰

Christmas decorations in September I have a problem with…Celestial Seasonings sugar cookie sleigh ride, I do not!

Though I’m still kicking myself for not grabbing up that cranberry horsey mustard…

“Great with turkey or ham”…Ha! If it’s as good as it sounds, you can put it on a stick for all I care!

Ahem, WHY did they not have this stuff when I was a kid?!?

Then, after I finished frolicking up and down the aisles like a kid in a Goober factory, I continued on to meet my good friend Christine and her husband Donny for pizza and pottery painting. Whew, say that three times fast!

Nevermind, I just tried it and it’s not that hard;)

Mmm, gotta love Mellow Mushroom!

Even though I totally suck at math! :-/

ย Though this was my first painting experience, Christine and Donny are frequenters to Brushfire and are starting a little collection. He does Broadway themed pieces for her and she makes retro comic book/cartoon characters for him.

Anyone out there remember Earthworm Jim?
(yeah, really telling my age on that one!)

And the best part about Brushfire studio? It’s right across the street from Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s!

Hmm, just how many things CAN I buy with pumpkin in them?

Reminds me of this post!

Two new flavors of Power Crunch to try!
Hopefully they’re both better than the peanut butter one.

Bulk bin loving: Quick oats, whole wheat pastry flour, oat bran, and rolled oats

And I found Biscoff!! Is it sad that I’m kind of scared to try it?

Actually, I was a little worried I would be pulled over and get caught with it on the way home.

“Officer, I swear, I didn’t know when they said it was ‘like crack’ that they meant it literally!”

Oh, and not all my shopping, frolicking, and obscene amount of picture taking was foodie based…

This is what happens when you go to exchange a pair of flip flops at Old Navy and they send you out unexpectedly into a den of hungry wolvesย storewide weekend sale.

Both tanks were under 10 bucks and the cropped cardigan was $14.50!

Am I the only one who gets an adrenaline rush when something says 50% off? ๐Ÿ˜‰

And last but not least, after intense scrutiny, the New Balances have been benched and there’s a new all-star player on the scene…

The same Asics that I had before only in black and a new pair of compression socks…hopefully I’ll be running again before too long!

Whew! I think I just made myself tired from recapping all of that! Good thing I had leftovers to fuel me through this post!

Oh and by the way this epic pizza goodness would be the “Magical Mystery Tour” from Mellow Mushroom: pesto sauce, mozzarella, portobello mushrooms, spinach, feta, and jalapenos! Mmm! Spi-saaaay!

Well, I’m off to bed (probably to have some weird jalapeno-induced dreams)! Be sure to stop by tomorrow as I make up for missing Pancake Sunday with an even bigger celebration:

NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY!!

Are you going to celebrate with me tomorrow?

Have you ever spotted a celebrity in public? What did you do?

  1. nicole kidman?! cool! i would have had a total panic attack haha. and i want all that pumpkin! that stuff would be gone in about…oh a month haha

  2. Oh my goodness, such a great foodie haul! Especially 15 cans of pumpkin? I wouldn’t have room to store all of it. Also, TJ’s honey grahams are amazing.
Loving the paparazzi skills of course! I wish I could be that swift, but my phone’s camera takes way too long to load.
Unfortunately I won’t be celebrating national pancake day tomorrow – I’m not a big pancake person. For some reason it never makes for a filling AND satisfying breakfast. I love making them for other people, though, and if I didn’t have early class tomorrow I would definitely do that.

Girl, that’s why you have to experiment with pancake recipes! I used to think the same thing when it came to pancakes…they’re nice but just not very filling, but then I tried them with different add ins, flours, and protein powders. It really makes a huge difference in the staying power!

  3. lindsay says:

you should work for People magazine! nice snap shot of kidman! woo! Love this weekend. You sure know how to crack me up. I hope I get to meet you someday.

  4. Lizzie says:

    ahhh thats so exciting!!!!!

  5. PB&Jenny says:

if I didn’t love you so much, I’d totally hate you right now. Look at you scoring 15 cans of pumpkin and I can’t find one. I’m starting to feel like I’m a prisoner to bad karma. What did I do to deserve thisssss ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Ok, I’m dramatic.

What a fabulous grocery haul though, my dear! I had that pumpkin cream cheese last year and it is AWESOME spread on some graham crackers (which I see you bought as well. You’re always one step ahead of the game!) can’t wait to see you go to town with all of the new goodies :)!

    <3

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww! Boo! I hope you get some pumpkin in your life soon…what did you do to pumpkin in a past life to suffer the consequences of bad karma?? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can you believe I didn’t even THINK of putting the cream cheese on the grahams until you said something?! Geeeeeeenius!

  6. what a weekend you had! And a well-rounded one at that!
Loved seeing all your photos and your mad paparazzi skills ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m curious to know what that sugar cookie tea taste like!

  7. 1. Jealous you got Libby’s. I found some Pumpkin at the store the other day but it was just the organic brand and Libby’s is better.

    2. Nicole Kidman! COOL!

    3. Your super target has sugar cookie sleigh ride?? i had to have a health food store special order it for me last year!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Really? I can usually find it at my local supermarkets (Kroger and Walmart) but I was surprised to see it at Target this early! I didn’t realize how much I loved it last year until it was out of stock…definitely gonna nab a few extras before the season is over this year!

And I totally agree, Libbys > store brand!

  8. What an awesome weekend!!! That mug is SO Freaking cute (and I’m obsessed with instagram. Still.)

And look at all those awesome products! I haven’t tried those protein bars yet, but they’re on my list of things to try!

I love those pottery painting places! I haven’t gone in awhile, but they’re so fun!

  9. gah! i had waffles this morning – if i had known it was national pancake day, i would have made pancakes!

i love your mug. the three of you made awesome painted pottery. i’ve done that a couple times and both of my items looked like a 5 year old did them. except when you’re 5, it’s cute and someone (your mom) will love it anyway. no one, not even me, wanted mine!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! That’s hilarious…the WHOLE time I was painting, I kept saying, “I hope this doesn’t end up looking like a third grader did it”! My fingers are crossed that it looks decent enough when I go to pick it up in a couple of weeks!

Redeem thyself! Pancakes for breakfast in the morning!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. Lauren says:

Oh my god, awesome celebrity sighting!! I had no idea it was national pancake day, BUT I totally had pancakes this morning. Score! You didn’t know about Goober?! We used to buy it when I was a kid, and it freaked me out then just like it freaks me out now. Maybe because it’s called Goober…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I’ve seen the kind mixed with jam, but never chocolate. Of course if they did have it when I was a kid, my mom never would have bought me any…it was a special occasion to see anything other than store brand food in our house…I was always so bummed about eating “puffed corn” rather than having the real deal: Corn Pops or whatever! Haha!

      Yay! Pancakes for the win!

  11. Evan Thomas says:

That’s amazing. I’ve seen Emma Watson before, but that’s about it. I’ve never lived anywhere near where there would be celebrities, so totally jealous.

  12. You had one busy weekend! Who needs pancakes when you have all of that? Tony saw Kelly Preston on a flight and took a phone pic to send to me. The cross over with comics and celebrities is pretty common, so we have had quite a few the past few years. Tony actually co-created a book with Rosario Dawson (no one ever knows who she is) so we know her and we met Kevin Smith a few years back after she did Clerks 2 with him. We’ve also met the guy who plays Pete on 30 Rock a few time because he is a HUGE comic book fan. You do have some mad paparazzi skills my friend!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I know who Rosario Dawson is…that’s awesome! I never really thought about the connection that Tony would have, but it totally makes sense!

  13. Robyn :) says:

Is tomorrow National Pancake day? Are you kidding? I was planning on doing pancakes for dinner tomorrow night. Seriously. With no idea it is National Pancake day!

I grew up in Southern California so I have seen many celebrities. The most famous was probably John Malkovich. We saw him at a musical and a college friend and I went up to him and told him we liked his movies and shook his hand. He was very nice.

Where did you finally find the pumpkin filling???

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Too funny about the pancakes! I was way too nervous to say anything, but I’m sure she would have been really nice about it if I had. I didn’t notice anyone else really even looking at her and since it’s not that uncommon to see celebrities in Nashville, I didn’t want to be that girl, ya know? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I found the 10 little cans at Kroger and then later saw that Super Target had a full stock of the big and little ones so I snatched up a few of those too! Still can’t understand why Clarksville is completely out of stock though! So ridiculous!

  14. Lauren says:

Yay, you finally found Biscoff spread. Yummmmm. Pumpkin cream cheese? I must go and pick some of that up pronto. I wish it was that easy. I have my learners permit but can’t drive alone yet ๐Ÿ˜› We ordered a case of pumpkin and I cannot WAIT until it gets here. I need some pumpkin in my life-right away! I still haven’t tried the TJ’s almond butter. Is it super delicious? I may have to try it soon! Not fully converted to Almond butter yet, maybe this’ll be the one?

    • Lauren says:

Oh and I am super jealous of your celebrity sighting! Never been that close to someone who I actually recognized-maybe I have but didn’t realize? Haha probably not but a nice thought anyway.

      • kissmybroccoli says:

This was actually my first time seeing a celebrity in person! I always thought I’d be the one standing next to someone famous and never even recognize them but she was unmistakeable…especially once I heard her accent!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Peanut butter will always be my first love, but I like to switch things up every now and then with the almond butter. The Trader Joe’s brand tastes pretty much exactly like the MaraNatha brand, so if you ever see that in the store, you should give it a try. I like the plain unsalted because I’m a freak and I like to add it to savory recipes like chili and sloppy joes…it makes for a creamy consistency that is seriously out of this world!

  15. janetha says:

i finally found biscoff locally (before that i had to buy it in san fran at the biscoff store!) …this is dangerous. i bought the jar sunday and we’ve already eaten half of it.

  16. MMT is one of my mellow mush favs =) soooo goooood! Um…. you didn’t fill me in on HALF of this during our phone convo! ughhh! i’m texting you right now to sched another phone date! mwah!

  17. elise says:

    sooo…what did she order????
