Friday By Number

Hey loves!

I’d like to start this post out with a BIG thank you to all our veterans out there. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have the freedoms we have today!

Happy Veterans Day!

Love you Dad!

So you guys remember color by number, right?

[source]

Well, with today being “the day” for number lovers everywhere (I’m looking at you, Janetha)…

11-11-11

I thought it’d be fun to do a little Friday by number to celebrate:

3…

The number of canvases turned modern art with the help of some spray paint, masking tape, and inspiration in the form of Pinterest.

15…

The number of failed attempts at repurposing an old print.

My idea was to pull the print off the backing and mod-podge it to a couple of canvases mosaic style, but as you can see, it rebelled.

Guess it’s back to the drawing board canvas!

4…

The number of items on my plate yesterday for breakfast…er, lunch (when I woke up after my last night shift for the week).

Chocolate Cherry Cake Donut + Scrambled eggs + Hashbrowns + Mini Green Monster

Totally random…totally delicious!

97,834,786…

The number of times I’ve cursed the rental car whenΒ trying to pull myself out of the driver seat! I swear the thing is only 6 inches off the ground…I’d have better luck if I just rolled out of it!

By the way, her name is Midge…short for Midget the Malibu…we’re not friends.

Which brings me to the part of the post that gets a little sad.

$7,500…

The amount in damages that Vickie suffered from the accident earlier this week.

It saddens me to say that Vickie is no longer with us.

I got the call from the hospital body shop today and had to go pull the plug gather my belongings.

She was a good car…faithful to me for the last four and a half years…she will be missed!

15…

The number of days I have to find a new car…

And the hunt has already begun!

What number best describes your Friday?

Any exciting plans for the weekend?
I think you know what I’ll be doing!

Oh my, that stinks about that much damage to your car, but yay for a new car!

    Happy Weekend! xoxo <3

  2. Aww yay for your dad!! Happy veterans day! Good luck finding a new car πŸ˜€

  3. oh nooooo, bummer about your car. πŸ™ but yay new car?? right?!

and i LOVE your modern art project – i am definitely going to copy that idea. i already obsessed with it.

  4. Big thanks to your dad for all that he’s done! πŸ™‚

I love your black and white art project! I can’t believe you made those. They look like something I would pay $20 apiece for at Ikea or something!

Sorry about your car! πŸ™ I hope you find a new one that you like just as much!

  5. Catherine Tyson DaCosta says:

No idea what you’re looking for, but Erik and I had tons of success at Hallmark Hyundai in Hendersonville. We love his Elantra. You should also be able to shop online and see what they have in stock before you head over there πŸ™‚

  6. Marlina says:

I LOVE your canvas made with tape ! Such a cute (and easy) idea! And now I want eggs πŸ™‚

    Good luck car hunting!

  7. lindsay says:

oh poor vickie. may she rest in peace. Best of luck with the new car shopping. Can’t wait to see whatcha get!

  8. Lou says:

New car is EXCITING! What kind are you thinking of? Your cherry donutty thing looks very very yummo. My favourite number is 3, but my Friday is best described with 430 as 4:30am was when Misty decided it was time to start the day. Thank god for caffeine πŸ™‚ Have a great weekend πŸ™‚

I’m really hoping to find a small SUV or crossover. I like having the ability to haul stuff without having a truck. I have a tendency to buy large items at the store without thinking about how to get them home! I once got a patio set stuffed into dear ol’ Vickie…it was surely one of our proudest moments together!

Whew, 4:30 is definitely an early start to the day…caffeine is NOT optional! πŸ˜‰

  9. Thank you to your dad! I am so thankful to those who serve our country! We are hoping my brother-in-law will be back from Iraq by Christmas…hoping.

Sorry about your girl. She was a good one, but hopefully the next car you find won’t have a target on it. Good luck with the shopping!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you Sarena! I hope your brother-in-law is able to spend Christmas with you…I think one of the hardest parts about having veterans in the family is missing out on those special occasion/events/holidays with them.

  10. great canvas! colouring by numbers is so much fun. you dont really know how it turns out until u r finished colouring! lovely breakfast- scrambled eggs and green monster- one of my all time faves!

  11. PB&Jenny says:

please give your dad a big huge hug for me! what a hero! plus, I owe him a major thank you for breeding my dear Heatherkins πŸ˜‰

as miserable as I know the whole car situation has been, it’s kind of exciting being able to look for a new ride, no? Just be sure to find something with optimal cup holder options for OIAJ πŸ˜‰ #priorities

    <3!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Aww, Jenny-poo, I love you! And yes, gotta keep the priorities in check here…adequate cup holders could make or break it for me! πŸ˜‰

  12. Aww, so sorry about Vickie! I’m sure there’s a new beauty ride waiting for you to come swoop it off it’s feet though!

A BIG thank you to your papa for his service to our country! xoxo

  13. lizzie says:

    happy V dayy!
its my bros bday today–haha pretty cool right?

  14. Eric says:

My sister has a Honda Element and she LOVES it..I think it’s pretty cool too! Pretty much a do anything car that’s got a nice ride, sits you up high, and has decent gas mileage..

The Jeeps on the other hand all ride like the Wrangler (I had a 2008 wrangler and it’s not the nicest ride) they are bad on gas, and I think those particular wheels are hideoous hahah

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh my gosh Eric, thank you so much for the feedback! I’m really at a loss on what to get so I’ve just been trying to test drive as many different cars as possible to get a feel for them. I really liked the Honda Element (love how the back seats fold to the side for cargo room), but yeah, I wasn’t much of a fan of the Jeep…definitely not a smooth ride!

  15. Moment of silence for sweet Vickie, and best of luck on finding a new car (if you haven’t already… I’m behind on posts!) πŸ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thanks girl! No, I haven’t found a new ride yet…but believe me, it’s not for not looking! Ugh, and I thought I hated clothes shopping!
