M is for Monday

Happy Monday friends!

I hope you all had a good start to the week…at least it’s a short one right? Well, unless you have to work on Black Friday…or you’re one of the crazies who actually go out and shop on Black Friday.

*Shudder*

My sanity is worth far more than any amount of money I would save.

So I thought I’d catch you guys up on some recent happenings around here annnnnnnnd, since I’m a sucker for alliteration, rhyming, and all things nerdy when it comes to writing, I made a theme!

My M‘s on a Monday!

Music

Remember when I mentioned that I spent most of yesterday downloading new music? Well, it’s been about three YEARS since I’ve updated my iTunes library and now? Now, I have a crap-ton of new songs…and a much lighter wallet! :-/

Mmmm!

Oh yes, you read that right…that would be my latest cheese discovery at Sam’s club! Any one else stake out the cheese section at grocery store just waiting for a new arrival? Just me? Surely not!

I had an idea to do a goat cheese and egg sandwich for my breakfast today…the bacon just happened to be an afterthought…a BRILLIANT afterthought! The combo of the salty bacon, drippy egg yolk and sweet cheese was amazing. I’m so having this again tomorrow!

Motivation

That would be an actual Google search by me today…I’ve had a hard time staying motivated to work out. Pretty sure it has something everything to do with the fact that my body has no frickin’ clue what’s going on with my sleep schedule since I’ve been on night shifts, so today, I looked to the web for a little kick in the ass gentle nudge to get me going.

Honestly, spotting that hottie in the bottom right corner was enough to get me to drool all over myself lace up my sneakers and hit the gym, but here are a few others that stood out:

Ok, so that last one is just in there for giggles…but hey, it’s true ain’t it? πŸ˜‰

I ended up doing 30 hard minutes on the arc trainer and 15 minutes of upper body with free weights before calling it quits and guess what!

I felt GREAT!

Endorphines are always the best motivation!

Missing my {work} peeps

This is my last week of night shifts and as much as I do like working with the people on this shift (much more laid back and relaxed), I’m starting to miss all my daywalker friends. Also, this past week was Radiology Week…aka the anniversary of the discovery of x-rays and I kinda feel like I missed out on the fun.

The hospital does a good job each year with celebrating “our” week and always gets us a a small gift…this year it was the cute little lunch box with a removable dish!

I can’t wait until next week so I can catch up with all my co-workers…and then start complaining about the day shift again! πŸ˜‰

My new car

As you guys know, since Vickie’s untimely death a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been on a hunt for a new vehic-a-mobile. Well, I think I have finally narrowed it down to two!

2007 Ford Edge

or a

2008 Nissan Rogue

Both cars have a sunroof, power everything, and a reasonable price. I’ve driven both cars, but I’m waiting for a transfer of an Edge from another Carmax that has a few more frills than this one for the same price before I make my final decision.

Funny I just realized how similar they look to good ol’ Vickie! πŸ™‚

Which car do you like better?

What is an M for your Monday?

That cheese looks AMAZING! Must find!

  2. Er, I’ll have some of that cheese please!
Those exercise quotes are brilliant; love the one about lapping couch potatoes and I’m the same, I’m a right lazy arse about it at this time of year but always feel better afterwards.
Cool to be getting a new car, I reckon the Nissan (is that the one on the right?) looks better…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yep, the Nissan is on the right…a tiny bit smaller than the other and silver instead of gray.

I know what you mean! It’s so hard to stay motivated once it hits winter…all I want to do is curl up under a blanket with a big mug of tea!

  3. lindsay says:

love the new car. Does she have a name yet? and blueberry goat cheese MUST come to austin. where or where? I don’t have a sam’s card!
    Boo.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I haven’t decided on the car yet…so the name will have to wait for now, but I have been looking through baby books! πŸ˜‰ Haha!

  4. katie says:

    The Nissan!!! I love it!

The blueberry goat cheese looks fabulous!!

    Happy Tuesday love! xoxo

  5. Katie says:

    2008 Nissan Rogue…Love it!

  6. I love downloading new music! It always makes my workouts seem new and fresh.

Both cars look nice! My dad has been driving Nissans for the past 10 years and he loves them!

Also that goat cheese sounds amazing. But when can you ever go wrong with goat cheese?

  7. ahhh, i just awakened a goat-cheese-loving beast inside of myself last night! i randomly got some at trader joe’s this weekend, at some with dinner last night, and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since then! it’s too delicious!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I do the same thing! I forget how much I love it and I’ll go a while without it, but then after that first taste, I want to put it on/in everything! Haha!

  8. Jessica says:

Nissaannnn!! I might be the wrong gal to ask though, as I’ve never liked Fords, heh…

Also. Major props to you for buying your music. Everyone thinks I’m insane for not ripping artists off, but I can’t remember the last time I illegally downloaded rather than purchased via iTunes. It’s one of my pet peeves – though from an artist’s perspective maybe it’s just easier for me to relate to. I hate when people steal my photos! (not just silly blog photos, but ones for events I’ve shot and more artsy stuff.)

I love the motivation posters! I always remember how good I feel during and after and that’s usually enough to get me moving πŸ˜›

    • kissmybroccoli says:

This was actually my FIRST time downloading from iTunes…I’m old school! The last time I wanted new tunes, I went to the store and bought a handful of CD’s! But then my OCD kicked in and I realized that if I download them, I get the title covers to show up in my iPod…and that makes me happy…yes, I’m a dork! Lol

  9. Love the purple color! That’s a good idea for a sandwich. Congrats on almost getting a new car! Both of those look really nice πŸ˜€ Nissan’s are great cars, but I do like the look of the other one. I can’t make decisions for my life. Haha, good luck!

  10. Hahahahaha that exercise motivation picture (of the shirtless man) is hilarious. I guess whatever works πŸ˜‰ haha

    Have a fantastic thanksgiving, girl!

  11. I am not a fan of Fords, so the Nissan is totally my vote! Both Alex and I had horrible experiences with Fords (he had a Focus, and I had an Explorer), though I’ve heard they’re made better these days. I’ve had a different brand of blueberry/vanilla goat cheese in the past, and I’m madly in love with it!! You reminded me I need to pick some more up! πŸ˜€

  12. PB&Jenny says:

hmm, I know nothing about cars – so I can’t help you out there. they both look cool though, and obviously that’s all that counts. (kind of kidding, but not really). I vote for whichever one is more indestructible.. just to be safe! πŸ˜‰

must.find.that.cheese. I wonder if I can order it online. Hmm….off to do some online browsing πŸ™‚

  13. Heather says:

I have a 2009 Nissan Rogue and I LOVE her. Just a delight to drive.

  14. Lauren says:

I stalk the cheese section looking for anything on sale. It’s sad kind of. I like the Rogue better and I’m happy to see some Augustana on your playlist πŸ™‚

  15. #1. I HAVE to find that cheese, looks so good!!!
#2. I am in a major lack of motivation mode when it comes to exercise.
#3. I love the Ford Edge, when my van dies, I plan on getting an Edge!

  16. Ty says:

My past two cars have been Fords and… they suck. πŸ™‚ So I’m definitely voting for the Nissan! I might end up buying a Nissan in early 2012 as well. (But I really want a Honda.)

I am one of those crazies who goes to Black Friday. I LOVE BLACK FRIDAY!! I don’t really even need to go this year because I’m only gonna save like $40 on the couple things I want to buy but… I just love it. I love it so gosh darn stinking much. <3

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Omg, I seriously couldn’t justify it by only saving that much…but I also have a rare condition known as “people claustrophobia” when I’m in high traffic shopping situations…plus I hate stupid people and it seems like they’re all out on that day! πŸ˜‰

Btw, I just tried leaving a comment on your blog FIVE times…I give up! I’m emailing you!

  17. Lizzi says:

Hoooooly crapballs. I want that cheese BAD.

    I like car #1 best! πŸ™‚

    • Lizzi says:

Disclaimer: i should point out that my car preference is based on nothing more than aesthetics. ahahaha, like i know ANYTHING about cars..

      • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Me too! I actually laughed to myself a couple of times while out car shopping. The salesperson always asks, “So what are you looking for in a car?” Where I’m sure most guys would answer with the size of engine they want and horsepower and all that hooplah, I’m like, “Um, I would like a pretty color…no red, nice wheels, and a sunroof!” haha!

  18. Tony and Max go directly to the cheese section when we go to the grocery store…everytime. They always want to try something new. We are cheap though and we only shop the managers’ special…we are so high class. I’m glad you will be able to enter the land of the living again soon. Have a great rest of the week Heather.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh I’m just as classy…nothing like shelling out 10 bucks on cheese that ends up tasting like butt! Haha! I speak from experience of course! πŸ˜‰
