Good Thing I’m Not an Egg

Hey guys!

So on Wednesday, I put in for Thursday off…and then I kept it a secret.

Wanna know why?

Because since the moment my feet hit Tennessee soil after my EPIC weekend at Blend, things have been NON-STOP! I went straight into my 10 hour shifts last week and even though I had a three day last weekend, with Mother’s Day to prepare for/errands to run/and a house to clean, before I knew it, I was staring at yet another Monday.

I’ve been sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night, but every morning when the alarm would sound at 5am, I would practically throw it across the room. So morning workouts were obviously a no-go…but even after work, I just couldn’t bring myself to get to the gym (it was EVERYTHING I could do to stay awake on the drive home!)

Fatigue, mad sugar cravings, and a near-drug addict relationship with coffee ensued…

If the coffee pot’s water level reads “5 cups” but you can fit it into two cups…can’t you just say you only had TWO cups of coffee?

Knowing I had the next day off was probably the ONLY thing that got me through my last night with Pete & RE-Pete. I told myself that I would make it a “me day”…not do any chores or errands…just play everything by ear.

Well, so much for that idea!

As it happens all too often, I was washing up my breakfast dishes and the next thing I knew, I was ripping clothes I haven’t worn in years out of my closet and making a mountain on the floor.

In less than 3 hours I had cleaned out my closet, organized my bookshelf, vacuumed the couches (cat hair is the bane of my existence), rounded up the recycling, and loaded my car up with stuff to take to Goodwill!

I even gave my ever growing aloe plant a new (bigger) home! 😉

I know I said I wasn’t going to do any house work, but I have to admit, I felt so much better after that trunk load of clutter was out of my life…I really don’t see how people can be pack rats!

And even though I was feeling a bit worn out after all that work, I threw out all my excuses and FINALLY made it to the gym!

10 minute warm-up on the elliptical, 30 minute full body circuit, AND 1 mile on the treadmill…first time I’ve run in over a MONTH!

It felt so good to get those endorphins flowing!

As for the rest of the day?

#thingsthatlooklikepoop

Essie Love!

Entertainment AND enlightenment!

And of course, breakfast for dinner (my ultimate comfort food)!

That would be egg white stovetop oats with maple extract and cinnamon topped with thawed frozen peaches, blueberries, almonds, and Justin’s Maple Almond Butter!

Mmm, mmm, MMM!

Do you like a lot of clutter or are you a material-purger like me?

Oh yeah, who wants to know the winner of the PB Crave giveaway?! 😉

Like I could really forget a thing like that…

Drumroll please!

…………….

……….

….

Which means…

TT, you are the lucky winner of THREE jars of incredible peanut buttery deliciousness!

A big THANK YOU to all who entered…you guys are pretty serious about your love of peanut butter! I’ve MORE than a few ideas for my next snack!

  1. “#thingsthatlooklikepoop” made me die. There is nothing better than endorphins when you are stressed out!!!

  2. I loooove Forks Over Knives! I’m sorry you’ve been so tired and stressed lately 🙁 that stinks! I totally know that feeling. It’s like even if you get enough sleep, the day just sucks it out of you!! I hope you were able to rest and relax a bit!

  3. Wow what a productive day off! I know what you mean though – a messy house and too much clutter really stresses me out and I don’t feel right until I’ve dealt with it. At least you still found time to relax after all that housework! 😀

What did you think of Forks over Knives? I’ve been wanting to watch it!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Amen! That feeling just after a good cleaning is always the best!

Forks Over Knives was really enlightening. I figured it’d be full of stuff that I already knew, but there were a lot of “omg” moments while I was watching it. It got a little slow in the middle so I kinda phased out a bit and started doing other stuff but I think I’ll watch it again sometime this week and see what I missed. I definitely recommend it!

  4. That is an interesting face mask you’ve got there!
Glad you got a second to relax, and I must admire your cleaning! My room currently looks like a f5 tornado went through it…and will probably look that way til I’m done with exams 🙂

Come organize all my kids clothes please!!! One of my least favorite chores, ug, they grow way too fast! I had egg white oatmeal for breakfast the last two mornings, it’s amazing how that added protein keeps you so much fuller for longer than just eating plain oatmeal!

  6. Good for you for taking the day off! Sometimes we all need that 🙂

  7. Lou says:

Oh yeah, I hear ya on the clutter… drives me NUTS (and we keep getting more + more STUFF with a toddler, argh!) Doesn’t help that Viper is a hoarder 😉

Feels so good having a day just for YOU, no? It looks like a perfect way to re-ground yourself…. what did ya think of Forks over Knives?!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh gosh, my ex was one of the biggest hoarders of all time! I would actually wait until I knew he would be out of the house for a few hours and start throwing stuff away that I knew he would never miss…and guess what! He NEVER noticed! Haha!

I really liked Forks Over Knives…there were a lot of “whoa” moments…very enlightening. When it got a little slow in the middle, I started doing other things, so I know I missed some stuff but I’m hoping to watch it again sometime this week!

  8. Gloria says:

After reading this post, I decided to clean my room, do my laundry, and get rid of clothes that I haven’t worn in a while, as well as those that don’t fit me anymore. So, thank you! I feel so much better now 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, yay! So glad to help motivate you! Love that feeling of clarity after a good spring cleaning sesh! 🙂

  9. elise says:

good for you girly!! pamper away!

and fyi, 5 cups that fit into 2 cups equals TWO CUPS. i dont wanna hear otherwise.

  10. Carly says:

awh shucks, not a winner, but congrats to tt! I know what you mean about sleep and not making it to the gym. some days after school I am just sooo tired. I mean I know that we sit in classrooms all day but it is just exhausting haha. I’m pretty sure I would be classified as a purger because like you, once I start making a pile, I just start throwing things out left and right.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I know, right? I swear I could never have a desk job…I’d totally face-plant after work everyday!

I tried to leave a comment on your blog, but it wouldn’t let me! That Cardio Funk class sounds like fun! I workout at a YMCA too, but even if they offered the class at my gym, I probably wouldn’t go…I have the rhythm of a stick! I gave Zumba an honest try about 3 times and then traded in my booty shaking moves (or whatever you want to call them) for a spot in the weight section with all the boys! 😉 Oh and I loved your smoothie bowl with your Cracklin’ Oat Bran decoration…it’s been forever since I’ve had any of that cereal! So addictive!

  11. Oww! Check you out in that mask! Love it. 🙂
I NEED to watch Forks over Knives!!

  12. Robyn :) says:

I do not like clutter, but have a hard time keeping it away lol!! I have purged a lot of things, though!!!

I hope you are feeling better.

  13. Tt in nyc says:
