Short on Time but NOT on Flavor!

Blargggggg!

I can’t believe it is already 10pm!Β Where in the heck has my day gone?! I swear from the moment I got out of bed this morning, it has been go, go, go!

Luckily, because I just can’t NOT play along with Jenn and all my other food loving gals, I managed to snap a pic of my “fast food” eats today!

Be sure to head on over to Peas & Crayons and check out all the delicious link ups! And howabout a big shout out to my girl, Jenn, for making this shindig happen each and every week?! πŸ™‚
Breakfast was a bit of a throw-together…I mixed some Love Grown granola with the last of my Erin Baker’s Power Crunch PB granola, tossed in some banana slices (if you want to call them that…banana’s on their last leg don’t really “slice”), and then dumped a container of Fage Greek yogurt on top!

And naturally, there is ALWAYS time for coffee! I picked up this gem over the weekend and it is most definitely a keeper…the perfect blend of coffee flavor and chai spiciness!

Altogether, this is what breakfast looked like:

Yeah, just pretend you’re looking at a gorgeous layered parfait with a freshly polished silver spoon situated next to a fine china cup filled with coffee! πŸ˜‰

Of course, the reason I had to eat my breakfast while cruising down the highway driving with my knee was due to the fact that LUNCH was my top priority:

Monday night I had the BEST sandwich of avocado, spinach, and tomato with pickles for dinner…only, it would have been easier to eat a banana split on the back of a donkey…while climbing the side of a mountain…in the pouring rain.

I’m not ashamed to admit that all my lady-like ways went out the window as I held my face inches above my plate and stuffed every last bit in my mouth with pickle-y avocado hands.

So today, I opted for a leafless sandwich and chose to have my spinach in the form of a salad instead…with red pepper, sprouts, and balsamic vinegar.

Snackage for the day included a pineapple SoyJoy bar (not bad), blackberries and strawberries, and the last of my Mrs. Mays Almond Rice Stix…

Please join me in a moment of silence while we mourn the future absence of such an amazing snack…

After I got off work, I headed to the gym for an upper body workout and then figured I’d hit up the store to “grab a few things” on my way home…

You know how they say you should never go to the store hungry?

Well, after coming home with a can of sardines, Wasa crackers, and a pack of roasted soy beans, all I can say is…

Man, was dinner delicious! πŸ˜‰

Now I’m thinking a spoonful of peanut butter and a couple of swigs out of the almond milk cartonΒ a glass of almond milk would end the day jussssssst right!

What is your go-to snack when you’re short on time?

Have you ever tried sardines?
This was my first time…kinda tasted like tuna only saltier.

Happy WIAW! Your sandwich looks tasty.

  2. Lou says:

mmmm that coffee/chai blend sounds perfect! I used to LOVE sardines (especially mixed with pickles… yeah I’m a weirdo!)

  3. TJ Maxxxxx!! I love their wonderful granola selection- I got some great pomegranate ones from their once. Sounds like a great breakfast to me though- hurry or not. I think real is just as good as pretty, by the way. and that coffee joins the ranks with all the things I need to get at TJS when I’m back in the states. Are you going to make soy nut butter with the soy nuts?

  4. I’ve been wanting to try sardines, but I can’t make myself purchase them. haha I love WASA crackers though. So simple, so boring, yet so perfect in their own way.

    Happy WIAW!

  5. Jen says:

never had had sardines! i cant bring myself to do it. and granola is a must for short on time snacks! or veggies and hummus!

  6. I wish I had had some “fast food” eats to post about last night when I, too, realized it was 10 PM and I hadn’t started blogging. Oops.

I have not yet found a Soyjoy bar I do like. I want to like them…but they just have never been appealing. [I hope they don’t blacklist me from some snack bar conglomeration now.]

Most importantly….PICKLES + AVOCADO??? How did I not get there first…

  7. I would be more interested in that lunch too, Heather! I love a big lumpy sandwich filled with goodies. Yum!

  8. Kate says:

I love 2% Fage! I am wanting to try Total, full fat, but can’t find it anywhere!!

And, I NEED that coffee. Next time I hit up TJs, it’s going in my cart!

  9. My go-to snack is definitely hummus and raw veggies. …or just natural almonds! Love πŸ™‚ Or yogurt. Or light string cheese. …Yes, I keep these all on hand when I’m indecisive, which is always LOL.

  10. Lauren says:

Salty tuna sounds awesome to me!

  11. I actually really like sardines and I think I might get some now that you mentioned it. I forgot about them entirely! Glad to see your day is still healthy even when you are constantly in a rush. Not an easy feat!

  12. That sandwich looks so good! I absolutely love pickles on EVERYTHING!

I’ve never had sardines. I think I’d be brave enough to try them… maybe… 8)

My go-to snack is usually air-popped popcorn with a little sea salt and cracked black pepper. I just discovered the wonderfulness of truffle oil, and have really loved that on my popcorn, too!

  13. I like to grab a handful of trail mix whenever I am on the go!

  14. I for sure cannot go to the grocery store hungry. I basically want to buy everything!

  15. My go-to snack is a date, stuffed with nut-butter, and dipped in chia seeds. DELICIOUS!! πŸ™‚

  16. I always pack a huge salad for lunch, and then stuff half of it in a wrap, and eat the other half as “salad.” πŸ™‚
My QUICK snack if I’m in a big hurry but need something filling is pumpkin mixed with peanut flour, almond milk and some stevia, with sea salt on top. Damn, it’s good.

  17. That coffee sounds amazing! I wish I’d seen it at TJs when I went there! πŸ˜›

I really want to try sardines… but I’m scared to! Although eating them in tomato sauce like that wouldn’t be so bad because I wouldn’t have to see the whole fish just lying there in the tin haha.

  18. Heheh the way you described eating the sandwich made me laugh – I do the same thing! The messier they are, the better they tend to be!

  19. Missy says:

Have you ever tried the Wasa flatbread crackers? SO much better than the others! The Rosemary is my favorite and I like to heat them in microwave and then sprinkle low fat cheddar or mozzarella cheese shreds on top and melt that for a few seconds in microwave, its my go to quick snack – I sometimes add deli turkey. They make plain and sesame so the combos/toppings are unlimited (especially with you!) Try them if u haven’t!

  20. Nicole says:

I love how you keep hair ties on your shifter! Great idea πŸ™‚

    I LOVE sardines! So good!

  21. kalli says:

oh all of your food looks incredible! love your sandwich! my fav snack has been dried mangos lately

  22. My go to snack as of right now is sweet potato with PB mmmmMMM it’s just so tasty πŸ™‚ But for on the go, I almost always have a Clif/Larabar in my bag.

  23. I hate when bananas are so black you can’t slice em! I just kind of like, break the chunks apart. It’s pretty cute. Great eats!

  24. I found that chai coffee at TJs and posted about it in my WIAW too! It is so good!

  25. I have never seen those almond rice stix. Gotta find them. And sardines have been on my list of things to try out but I have not yet. Other things like new nut butters and granola have been beating them out.

  26. Oooo lots of veggies and lots of foodie items I have never even heard of! I have much to learn!

Also eating in the car is a frequent occurrence with me so you make me feel normal..ish. πŸ˜‰

  27. I have yet to try sardines although those soy nuts look like a dream come true!

  28. Love that love grown πŸ™‚ you killed it on the go! sandwich looks incredible!! yay for pickles!! And for sardines too! awesomeness
