FUN for Friday!

Hey guys!

I’m taking it back to my Sesame Street days with this post…oh yeah, it’s Friday and I’m a sucker for alliteration so allow me to welcome you to…

Fun with F’s Friday!

Looks like I have FOUR giveaway winners to announce this afternoon, but before I do that, I saw this survey on Lindsay’s blog and could NOT resist borrowing it…I mean, c’mon who doesn’t love a good survey…man, I wish there was an “F” word for that!

Fun + Survey =

Furvey?

Anywho! Onto the FUN!

1. What did you eat for breakfast this morning?

Ok, so I totally intended to have a bowl of yogurt topped with a crumbled Banana Walnut Nerdy Birdy Cookie that I’ve been hoarding saving since last Saturday’s trip to the farmer’s market…

But then it found it’s way into my coffee and well…

OHHHH MY LAWWWWD!

Needless to say, said cookie never made it to the rendezvous with my bowl of yogurt.

So instead, I stirred in some coconut flour, a bit of vanilla stevia and then topped it with quinoa and walnut pieces…and in all honesty, the toppings were only added to look pretty for you! πŸ˜‰

Mmmm! So good! Sooo FULL!!

2. How much water do you drink a day?

After making a goal to drink four litersΒ each day and actually meeting that goal on some days, for the most part, I usually hit around 3 liters (96 ounces) a day.

3. What is your current favorite workout?

I’ve slowly been making my way down the list of Tuesday Trainer workouts…so far these have been my favorites:

FYI, it helps if you grunt! πŸ˜‰

Click on the pics for a link back to the workouts if you wanna sweat like me! πŸ˜‰

4. How many calories do you eat a day?

I used to have no idea…I would eat anything I wanted whenever I wanted it…like peanut butter by the spoonful, but all those calories have to go somewhere and while I’m not a Nazi calorie counter, I do like using the My Fitness Pal app to keep track of my food and fitness…

I depending on the amount and type of exercise I do, I typically eat anywhere from 1400-1600 calories a day.

I think logging in everyday helps keeps me on track with my goals better and guess what…

It’s working! πŸ˜€

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Β Oh how convenient…see THIS post for everything from fruits and veggies, to bars, to random things I pull out of the fridge!

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

Anything! When I’m working the night shift, my “lunch” is technically my breakfast since it’s the first thing I eat after waking up, so I usually stick to oats, yogurt, or other breakfasty food, but lately?

Lately I’ve been in love obsessed…

With Flat Out Wraps…specifically the Italian and Sun-dried tomato flavors…so soft and doughy and PERFECTLY seasoned!

Oh man, I’m making my mouth water!

7. What is your favorite body part to strength train?

Triceps and calves…but mainly just because I like seeing them POP!

BAM!Β

8. Β What is your least favorite body part to strength train?Β

Abs…unless it’s worked into a routine I’m doing or a class I’m taking, I rarely EVER devote time solely on my abs, rather I just keep myself in check and make sure my abs are in during all my training. I mean, why waste time isolating, when you can work your core during each and every move you do?

9. What are your “bad food” cravings?

I don’t really think of food as good vs bad…I mean yes, there is healthful and less healthfulΒ but if you label a food as “bad” and try to eliminate it from your diet, your going to end in failure…in the form of an empty cookie jar and a sore tummy.

That being said, I do believe in moderation, but I do NOT believe in constant temptation so there are a few things I chose not to have laying around the house…

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

I used to take my daily gummies, but then after a few months I thought I should switch to a more mature version and find a tablet…you know, like a grown up…yeah, that lasted about two weeks…

I really should get more gummies!

11. How often do you eat out?

It depends. I just can’t justify eating out on my own when I know that I could grab virtually anything out of the fridge and make a meal out of it,

Β Case.in.point

Salad beast
Chobani and a breakfast cookie (are we noticing a theme here??)
Humongo green smoothie
Quinoa salad topped with zucchini, oranges, blueberries and a sweet balsamic dressing
Or cottage cheese, cereal, and blueberries out of the container…because I’m lazy…and because Tiger doesn’t judge! πŸ˜‰

But when BB’s over on the weekends, it’s a bit different. There for a little while I was in a bit of a cooking rut and we ate out a LOT more, but now I’d say we average about once in a weekend.

12. Do you eat fast food?

Only if you make me…please don’t make me! πŸ™

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

Each and every day! He understands how much it means to me to be fit and live a healthy lifestyle…he knows the difference between when I need to be coddled and when I just need someone to tell me to stop making excuses and get my booty to the gym!

14. Do you have a gym membership?’

Yes, after nearly TWO years of professing my love of at-home workouts and my reasons for NOT needing a gym, I finally caved. But I’ll tell you right now, even though I’m pretty good at motivating myself, it’s so much different when you’re with other people…

Common thoughts at they gym:

“If you drop this weight, you WILL look like a retard!”

“Man, I could totally kick her ass on that elliptical!”

“Oh look, I AM kicking her ass on the elliptical!”

“What the heck is that dude wearing? Pajamas?”

Why yes…yes he is! πŸ˜‰

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

Never enough!

16. Do you have a “cheat” day?

Honestly, I just don’t get why people do this…if you REALLY want a treat, then HAVE IT! Don’t wait until one specific day of the week and then end up bingeing on every last sugary fatty morsel you can get between your lips!

17. Do you drink alcohol?

Nope, not ONE bit!

I know this pic may make me LOOK like an alcoholic but honestly the moderate amount of drinking I would indulge in on the weekends is now down to little to none. Since I’ve started being more conscious of my calorie intake and focussing more on my workouts, I just don’t care to blow off all my hard work with a couple of bottles of beer.

I’d rather have a cookie! Β πŸ˜‰

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

Honestly, I’m not quite sure I could talk someone into it!

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

My attitude.

For years I was trapped in the mentality of “dieting.” Don’t eat eggs, full fat dairy is bad, cookies are for fatties. Wait…what? You mean if I eat nothing but grapefruit and drink water all day, I’ll lose 10 pounds in a week?! Heck yeah, sign me up!

Now things are different. I know that how I eat and how I chose to be active is to make me a HEALTHIER me, not a skinny me and much to the disbelief of the cashier at the grocery store, I am NOT buying up half the produce department so that I can go on some sort of salad diet…this is me, this is what I eat, this is how I live

It’s a lifestyle…NOT a diet!

20. What’s the last healthy thing you did?

Took a shower?

All hail the Towel Queen! πŸ˜‰

Now…onto some giveaway winners!

And the winners…

of the amazing Nunaturals giveaway are…

*drumroll*

…..

*continuing drumroll*

…..

*cont- Ah, I think that’s enough anticipation! πŸ˜‰

  1. this might be one of my favorite KMB posts ever.
    yep. yep it is.

  2. Carly Clark says:

Okay so forreal that coffee cookie concoction (wow this post really is full of alliterations πŸ˜› ) looks so good! And now I’m going to ask way to many questions about it so that I can make the same thing for breakfast tomorrow, haha, possibly. Was the coffee hot? And you just put it in the blender? Genius! (:

    • Carly says:

and I don’t know if this is too personal but do you think that we (as in all the people who eat healthy; I’m talking a lot of fruit and veggie consumption daily) need to take multivitamins. I know it’s sort of a weird question, but I used to take them daily and then I ran out and then I never knew if what I was eating was enough, just wanted see what your opinion was(:

      • kissmybroccoli says:

Not too personal at all! It’s actually a really good question that I’m sure a lot of people have thought about. I worked my way through college at GNC (that’s actually where I first discovered my love for nutrition and health…not that I took even HALF the initiative to lead a healthy lifestyle as I do now) and I really learned a lot. I believe that yes, we do get a lot of nutrients from all those fistful of berries, whole grains, and salad beasts, but the concentration is different. And with the way the body metabolizes whole foods, I don’t think the body adequately retains most of those nutrients. So I figure a good multivitamin is something that can “fill in the gaps”…not to be thought of as a main source of nutrients, but more of an extra boost!

Of course I’m just being a kid when I go for the gummy vitamins…honestly, the best multivitamin to take in my opinion is a slow-release tablet. It gives your body more time to process/breakdown. I’ve gone with and without them and I swear I really can feel a difference in my energy levels!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ok, so you’re giving me too much credit here girlie! The yogurt was mixed with coconut flour (that’s what gave it a sort of brownish color), the coffee only served as a wonderfully steamy dip for my cookie that was gone in about 5 seconds! Lol But you ARE giving me an idea…I’m thinking Greek yogurt meets instant coffee granules…oh yes, this could be good! πŸ˜‰

  3. I seriously love this survey! And I couldn’t agree more on the “cheat days.” I haaaate when people say/do that. Oh well. I seriously need to get me some flat out wraps!

  4. I freaking love you! And I have to say… I was getting a little worried because I haven’t seen you post a picture of your honey on Instagram in quite a while, but THERE he is!!!
Congrats on your weight loss- that is freaking awesome!
And I’m the same with you about drinking. I feel like I post pics of booze all the time and it may SEEM like I’m drinking a lot, but I rarely have more than a few sips. Unless I’m in Colorado… that’s a whole other story…

  5. Wahhhh wordpress deleted my comment! But since I loved this post so much, I HAVE to comment again! haha

I’m glad you have the BB for support/butt-kicking! πŸ˜‰ And I ALSO take gummy vitamins. YUM!!

And I’m also glad I’m not the only one who prefers a cookie to beer. haha

  6. jodie says:

Oh man! I won πŸ™‚ yay! Ill email you!

Whenever you post that water picture it kills me. It looks so good bc its my water bottle too πŸ™‚ mmm. I just always have it on me and drink constantly. I think I drink at least 4 of them not including working out? I love water πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Nice! Isn’t it great? I love that I don’t have to refill it like 298569 times a day…and heck, half the time I just chug the whole thing in a matter of minutes because I sit down with the straw in my mouth and do something else at the same time. It’s my version of an grown up baby bottle! πŸ˜‰

  7. teabagginit says:

love this! i actually had dinner for breakfast! steamed asparagus & celery, roasted pork tenderloin, tsp of coconut oil and TONS of red pepper flakes!!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Mmm, sounds like quite the tasty combo there! While I’m a diehard fan of breakfast for dinner, I’ve never tried it the other way around…unless you count cold, leftover pizza! πŸ˜‰

  8. I definitely think logging into MyFitnessPal has helped me keep track of what i’m doing and eating. I’ve ignored it while being on vacation because I think it would be too restrictive and not allow me to enjoy food and treats but I’m looking forward to getting back into it in a few days.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I would do the same thing…hey, it’s not every day you get to be on vacation…and on vacation, thinking about anything is entirely out of the question! πŸ˜‰

  9. Hahaha I can’t believe what some people wear to the gym. I always roll my eyes at the girls wearing little booty shorts and crop tops… but I’ve never seen someone in their PJs!

Also I totally agree with you on the concept of cheat days. If you’re craving something that badly, just eat it now! It’s silly to save all your treats for one day and then gorge yourself.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Exactly! It just seems so counterproductive. Plus, I know from experience that once you change your eating habits (limiting sugars and/or finding alternatives) you really don’t crave that stuff that people deem “bad” and include on their “cheat” days. Now that I don’t eat as many sweets, most of my “sugar” cravings can be satisfied with some sort of fruit…especially ripe juicy pears! So good right now!

  10. Kammie says:

This is am awesome survey. I love things like these πŸ™‚ you already know I’m jealous of your popping muscles, but one day hopefully I’ll be there too! I have to say I often decorate my yogurt when I know I’m taking a picture of it, haha. The things we do… Btw it’s so awesome that you already lost 4.4 lbs in only 3 weeks. I’m struggling on my last 10 lbs before my goal. I’m sure weig training isn’t helping but I’m not super strict on the weight so it’s whatever, I guess.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh the hard knock life of a food blogger! Lol

Thank you, Kammie! I actually couldn’t believe I’d lost that much, but I think a lot of it has to do with me getting back on track with my clean eating…back in May after I got home from the Blend Retreat, I could NOT stop snacking/nibbling…and most of those nibbles were not of the healthiest variety. I think seeing it on “paper” has helped hold me accountable so that I don’t go reaching for that bag of granola…hidden in the pantry…behind all the canned goods…ok, maybe just a bite! πŸ˜‰

All that being said, I’m not really focussed on losing a set amount of weight. I’m all about building muscle and I know with that comes added weight…I just want to tone up and get some lean muscle!

  11. I eat between 2,000 and 3,000 calories per day, but I don’t keep track or log my food/calories/whatever. I’m choosing a second furvey question, too, just because I like the name. πŸ˜› My cravings are always for sweet stuff: ice cream, froyo, cookies, chocolate brownies, protein bars, PB&Js, yogurt and granola, etc. Such a sweet tooth!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

You know, I have been craving a PB&J in the worst possible way lately…like I’ve been daydreaming about it! …foodie nerd alert! πŸ˜‰

  12. I’m a little in love with this post. I’m so glad that I’m not the only one that adds stuff to my yogurt mixes just to make it more photogenic. LOL!

Water… my trainer has me drinking at least 120 oz a day. I pee all. day. long. but my skin looks great for once! πŸ™‚

Your face is so awesome. you are pretty and you can make the funniest, most fabulous LucilleBall-esque expressions. Love.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, you just made my day! Being compared to Lucille Ball is quite the compliment! Thanks dahhhh-ling! πŸ˜‰

And YES! Ohmigosh, my skin has been GREAT since I’ve upped my water consumption! Love it!

  13. julie says:

i love these surveys! i’m totally doing one for sure πŸ™‚ your lunch love looks DELICIOUS. get in my belly now haha.

what did i eat for breakfast this AM? egg white oat bran with coconut oil πŸ™‚ mmm! i love when the coconut oil gets hard like candy on top!

  14. Lizzi says:

Ahhh I love surveys. I totally did not ever grow out of 7th grade email chains. Your lunches look kickass, and I too am a nut for working my triceps. Sloooowly getting some results SHAZAAAAAAAM
