Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow…

Today…

I have no recipe to post.
I have no pictures to share from the weekend.
I have no link-up parties that I will be joining.

Yesterday…

I read your comments on last Thursday’s post.
I felt the outpour of support and empathy in each and every one.
I fought back the tears in my eyes and the lump in my throat.

Learn From Yesterday Quote

Today…

I realize just how much I have changed over the last two months.
I see that a journey toward one thing has actually become so much more.
I stop worrying so much about pleasing others, let go of guilt, and start focussing on myself.

Tomorrow…

I start learning what it is I want…what I don’t want…what makes me happy.
I stop stressing over the petty, the mundane, and the out of my control.
I take the advice of a very dear friend and start…

Living Intuitively.

What is one thing you can do today that will improve your tomorrow?

When is the last time you did something for YOU?

  1. I’m so glad that there was so much support for your post as it was truly so inspiring to read.

I need to meditate more as I know it helps to calm my mind and also helps me to remember to slow down and smell the roses more so to speak.

  4. Lucie says:

You deserve this ALL!! You are amazing my sweetheart and such a huge inspiration for so many of us out here!
On the weekend I broke the Whole30 challenge. I was sick and tired of skinny rules and I started to enjoy life.

  5. hearts. <3 heart. <3 hearts. <3

  6. You are amazing! I feel like I’m just now getting to the point where I do things for me. With the boys getting older, I really have more of an opportunity to do so. I need to focus on me more. Oddly, it still makes me feel selfish to think that way, but I’m trying to move in that direction!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you, Sarena! I can imagine it being hard to focus on you when that YOU is a wife AND a mom among so many other things, but just know that the ones you love the most want what is best for you too! Giving yourself attention is one of the best you can do for yourself AND for them! Now, let’s all sit cross legged and sing kum ba yah! Lol šŸ˜‰

  7. Great post – everything about this is what I have been working on for a couple of years now and it has led me to develop more focus in my business, know exactly who I want to help and how I want to help them and why I want to help, and of course come to terms with the fact that I am also a work in progress and will never be perfect and will continue to grow as I help others grow. It has been life-changing and certainly business-changing. So happy your journey is taking you where you want to go!

  8. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this Heather…it’ll be awesome šŸ˜€ I’m so happy for you that you’ve decided to focus on yourself!

  9. Ready for that massage?
It’s always hard to distinguish when I’m doing “something for me” and just doing something as usual. Some people find it spa-like to read a magazine and drink tea…I do that every day (don’t hit me!), so for me, that’s not a “me treat”. It is my excuse, however, to tell people I’m doing something for me to cut the stress (though you and I both know its not true)…I tell them, “don’t worry, today I’ll drink a cup of tea and read” and they’re all “oh phew, you deserve that”. Question averted, stress still there.
I think what I’m getting at…is we need massages. And something just a little more to show ourselves that we really do deserve to be stress free (even if only for a few hours).

    LOVE YOU

    • kissmybroccoli says:

SO true!! Now, if we could only get massages EVERY WEEK!! Lol

I’m going to email you tonight…I promise…and we are going to come up with some stress relieving strategies together…that doesn’t involve food shopping! šŸ˜‰

  10. Lisa says:

<3 Love that you've improved and have become such an inspiration.
So happy that you're focusing more on YOU!

  11. Get it, lady. Grab life by the balls. Doing things for you is NOT selfish, I’m so excited to see you treating yourself the way you deserve :-D.

  12. Great post, Heather. I need to SLOW DOWN and not always be in such a rush to do as much as possible, as quickly as possible. I let too many more important things (relationships!) get pushed to the side when they deserve more of my time and attention.

  13. Allie says:

Absolutely lovely post Heather! I mean, seriously. We ALL need to start doing this. Just start living and stop worrying–enjoy what we do have, forget about what we don’t. It’ll all come in good time (or so I’m convinced), so keep on with your journey, but recognize that it’s that–a journey–it won’t come all at once/can’t let the end goal become just that, another goal/”should.” I <3 you, and so glad we had our lunch last week! When's our next chat? šŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah, definitely trying to keep things in perspective…the LAST thing I need is another “should”! Thank you SO much for your support, Allie!! I’m leaving for Blend this Friday, but next Friday is free for me if you wanna do lunch again! šŸ˜€

  14. Good for you. Taking care of yourself should be your number one priority. I’m hear if you need an ear or a shoulder.

  15. This post made me cry! I’m emotional today… I’m so proud of how far you have come and how much you have grown. You are an inspiration to me and I’m so blessed to have you as a friend! xoxo

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, honey!! Thank you so much!! Now you have ME wanting to cry!! Can’t wait to see you innnnnnnn THREE DAYS!! šŸ˜€

  16. LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know you have to be there for yourself before you can be really good for anyone else – HUGS!

  17. Jessie says:

I love you, and every single word in this post! You are INCREDIBLE and such an INSPIRATION to others <3 <3 Never stop being YOU becausse well.. that would just stink šŸ™‚

  18. Awesome post Heather and a great reminder to put ourselves first! It’s so easy to try and do things to please others when actually we should be our number 1 priority :)! Cheers to that!

  19. Great post and so well said. I’m continuously working on slowing down and living more in the present. I seem to always be in a rush to cross things off my to-do list, instead of taking time to enjoy the little moments that life has to offer. After having my son, I slowed down a bit, but with blogging, starting a business and now moving, I have found myself not taking time to truly cherish each and every moment. Lately, I have noticed a change in my weight, due to not being mindful of what and how much I am consuming, so I need to get back on track. Thanks for the great reminder!

    • Also, I nominated you for the Liebster Award!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Just remember to take one thing at a time…it’s easy to get overwhelmed and feel that we need to “perfect” every aspect of our lives that we have let slip over time, but that can only create MORE stress. Write it out on paper…set your priorities…and do what makes YOU happy FIRST! šŸ™‚

And thank you so much for the nomination!!

  20. Heather, you are so awesome! Your posts are seriously inspiring me! You have no idea what a difference you’ve made!

  21. Fran@BCDC says:

Great post, Heather. Sorting things out in your mind helps us to sort them out in real life. Not always easy, but always important and almost always worthwhile. Stick with it, Sweetie!

  22. WOW! CHILLS!

I love this post! Simple yet thought provoking! Thanks, sis! Last night I did something for me! I REALLY wanted ribs again and went out for the again! Hehehehe! INTUITIVE!

  23. I’m a fairly selfish person, so my issues tend to be more like…I need to get out and serve others!! Either end of the spectrum isn’t so great…that’s where the balancing act of life comes in!

  24. You’re amazing, that is all šŸ™‚ xoxo

  25. Sarah says:

Such an amazing post! Making yourself a priority can be very hard to do, but it is sooo important! It took me a long time (and a lot of work at making it a habit) to learn that I deserve time for myself. I try to take at least 1 hour a day for something that makes me happy and that is all mine…weather it be running, yoga, reading a magazine, or just sitting in quiet and thinking…..it all helps me appreciate myself more. I can’t wait to read about your new discoveries! You are such a strong and inspirational woman and I feel blessed to know you!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Now THAT is what I need…an hour to myself every day! Today, I spent an hour or so at the park…walking the trails and working on my physical therapy for my knee, but after I was done with my walk, I decided to just lay in the grass and enjoy some quiet time…BEST decision ever! I think I’m going to try doing this more often now…it was so nice to just “get away!”! šŸ™‚

  26. THAT’S THE WAY TO GO! šŸ™‚ Be strong for yourself. šŸ™‚

  27. Happiness is the word that comes to mind with this! I am excited to follow where this leads you.

  28. calee says:

love this post! I hope to keep reading about your progress.

  29. Tiffany says:

I cannot even begin to explain just how inspirational this post and YOU are to my life! I’ve been in such a funk lately and it’s been extremely hard to get out of. I am so moved by this and it has definitely triggered my blog writing again. Thank you so much for being so awesome!

I’m definitely going to focus more on me and worry less about what’s going on with everyone else.
