Birthday Cake, Booty Burnin’, and Other Randomness!

Happy…day that still ain’t Friday? πŸ˜•

It’s true, not many people out there care for Thursdays…which is probably why Amanda came up with a genius way of making it through the day. Without rhyme or reason, allow me to throw a bit of randomness your way!

1. Birthday Cake M&M’s…have you SEEN these?! If and when you do, you are to pick up a package, slap a mailing label on it, and send it to me like YESTERDAY! Omg, why don’t we have CVS stores in Clarksville?!!

Baked Cookies & Cream Quest Bar

2.Β Luckily, we DO have GNC stores…where I picked up a box EACH of cookies & cream and cookie dough (what can I say, I’m a cookie-lovin’ gal). I decided to throw a C&C in the oven the other day annnnnnd I’m not a fan! I think it dries out the white chocolate/cream bits, but I WILL say that 10 seconds in the microwave turns it into one gooey melty mess of goodness! πŸ˜‰

Atlanta Glute Camp Group Shot

3. So while I did mention that I literally got my ASS handed to me while I was in Atlanta this weekend, I failed to elaborate on the fact that it was a group fitness sort of thang…”Glute Camp” to be exact! Since coming home and hitting the gym all of ONE time by myself this week, I have to say, I’m missing the motivation of group fitness. There’s just something about the energy of a group working out together. I mean, it might even make you crazy enough to bust out a whole other workout afterwards…

Workout - Shoulders

4. Annnnd ok, this is shamelesss, BAA-ut c’mon, I never get any action shot selfies when I’m at home! πŸ˜‰ So after Laura texted me these pics the other day, I knew I had to work this one into a post! Ha! After we burned our booties, we went over to the other side of the gym and sizzled our shoulders! And I have to say, it was one of the BEST workouts I’ve ever done! Plus, I loved learning new moves that I can incorporate into my circuits at home!

I love Greatist. They have some of the best articles/compilations out there, but this video in particular, really stuck with me. I know I’m not alone when I say that I’m guilty of having the “wish I had’s” when it comes to paging through a magazine. You know, “I wish I had her abs…I wish I had her clear complexion…etc” But this video shows how four average women respond to having photos of them professionally photoshopped. Just a little “friendly” smack in the face if you need it! πŸ˜‰

Cereal with Persimmon & Peanut Flour

6. Anyone know of any foods to cure insomnia? Because while this bowl of cereal topped with peanut flour and persimmons, was pretty AND delicious, it did NOT do the trick. Even when I washed it down with a “glass” of wine…that may or may not have been drunk straight from the bottle! πŸ˜‰ But seriously, I’ve been averaging 4-5 hours every night since I made it back from Atlanta and I’m hurrrrrrrtin!

Tea Tree Oil

7. Ok, so I’ve known this for a while now, but it wasn’t until Laura mentioned it on her blog last week that I remembered that tea tree oil is really good for breakouts. How about I picked up a bottle the other day and after only THREE applications (night, morning, night), my skin is perfectly CLEAR!

8. I’M GETTING A NEW IPHONE THIS WEEKEND! Yup, I’m lonnnnng overdue for an upgrade and after hanging with Laura this weekend and seeing how flippin’ FAST her new iPhone 5s is, I’ve decided I MUST have one…now the hard part, which color do I get??

Apple Cinnamon Waffle w:Bokeh

9. I PROMISE I haven’t forgotten how I teased you last week with those waffles…and ha, well, I guess I’m doing it again, aren’t I? I just couldn’t help but play around with one of my photo apps last night and decided to show you guys my pretty picture! πŸ˜‰ Recipe will be up tomorrow!

10. Annnnd…since you’ve scrolled all the way down this far…
How about taking a look over there –>

See my tag cloud? Notice how it’s GREEN?! How about I finally figured out how to change the HTML code for my ALL my hyperlinks! I used the code that I found here, copied and pasted it into the “CSS Stylesheet Editor” (Appearance > Edit CSS), and then changed it from black (#000) to green (#800)! Yay me!

Now after you get done joining me in a little shimmy-shake victory dance, hop on over to Spoons and see what everyone else is THINKING about this week! πŸ˜€

What was your last tiny (or BIG) victory?

Do you prefer to workout solo or in a group?

  1. Woop! Green for broccoli! Huge props on that – I am still lost in HTML land Ha.
And um..birthday cake M&Ms?? If they have funfetti cake, I’m totally done for. I already can’t buy the peanut butter M&M’s or else they are gone in 2.5 seconds and I have a stomach ache. Ha.
    And um…Nashville farmer’s market…as soon as it opens –

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yes MA’AM!!! I’ll be there! Omg, I can’t wait for the warmer weather to show up…this ice and snow is KILLING me!!

  2. Kelsey says:

    Great video!

Congrats on the green links πŸ˜‰

  3. You can’t see it, but I’m giving you major GRR face right now. COME VISIT ME NEXT!!!!! We should have planned something pre-chickpea so I could have met you somewhere. Now I’m stuck like glue to this little maniac. Visit. I’ll feed you. Well… if you hunt down and bring me those M+Ms — I haven’t been able to find them either! Though I prefer you over candy. Get on it toots.

  4. Lyric says:

Get Gold get Gold! Yay for little victories! I definitely prefer working out solo because a lot of times either Im moving at a fast pace or the person Im working out with is and then it’s basically like being solo anyways πŸ˜›

  5. A new iPhone?! GAH! SO jealous. I’m still rocking the 4 — not even the s — and mine is slow as molasses… but not nearly as delicious. I’m not due for another upgrade from my provider until August or something, so I’m going to try and suffer it out until then πŸ™ and you mean to tell me that cereal isn’t a magical miracle worker? My world is shattered 😯

  6. Birthday cake M &Ms??! Shut the front door. Where do you find this stuff?!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

In random People magazines?? And there’s yet ANOTHER reason to believe those things are total trash because I have YET to track down these little shits! Ha!

  7. betty says:

i looove group fitness, but the gym I’ve been going to has a VERY intimidating group of zumba girls. I know I shouldn’t compare myself, but these girls are tiny, beautiful, (and kinda bitchy) and it doesn’t make for the best workout.

I love that photoshop commercial. makes ya think!

andddd I just ordered two boxes of quest bars! im loving the pb&j and apple pie right now.. I need to go ahead and get a box of cookies and cream too πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh girl, Zumba…I swear it’s a whole other world of women! We have a few like that in my gym too. I’m pretty sure they all meet up before the class and plan their workout clothes to all match too! Ha!

  8. I LOVED working out with you ladies! I also loved not having to lead a workout! It was such a great time!

I got tea tree oil for Jay and he hates that it smells so strong. If he would just use it already! I hope you’re having a great week my friend! xoxo

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Well next time, I might just have to talk you into kicking my arse in the gym! No matter what I say then, remind me of what I say now: I want your guns!! Haha!

Hope you’re doing well, lady! Miss you! xoxo

  9. Look like you had FUN in Atl!
Have you tried Melatonin? I’ve been taking it since I’ve been travelling all week and it was a 2 hour time difference.. I think its helping?

I also read lavender oil on your pillow can help!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, it was a BLAST! Laura is such an incredible host…I’ve visited her a couple times before and it’s always an adventure!

Yep, I’ve done melatonin, valerian, chamomile tea, lavender oil, lavender lotion, hair of badger AND eye of newt…nothing seems to work! On the bright side, I seem to have found my super power! 😯

  10. My birthday is tomorrow so you should definitely share some of those birthday cake m&ms if you get your hands on them πŸ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, I’ve stil YET to track them down, but happy belated, beautiful!! I hope you got everything you wished for! πŸ˜€

  11. I’m thinking that someone needs to make some slutty brownie dessert with cake batter blondies, birthday cake oreos, and then the chocolate chip cookie part be with cake batter M&Ms. That would be freaking unbelievable methinks πŸ˜‰

I need some of that tea tree oil. Actually, I think we have some. So I guess I should rephrase that as I need to use some of MY tea tree oil.

That photoshop video is pretty great. Thanks for sharing!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Freaking unbelievable annnnnnd…I probably wouldn’t live to tell the tale! But man, whatta way to go, right? πŸ˜‰ Haha!

  12. Birthday cake M&Ms?!? Yup, need to get my hands on some of those. And group fitness spoils me – I know find it so much harder to pump out a workout on my own!

  13. Kat says:

I’ve only seen ads for those M&Ms but I totally need them like NOW. I mean seriously…I’m so curious as to how they are going to taste! Im just going to come right out and say it. M&Ms are pretty much the best candy every. Ssshhhh don’t tell my beloved Butterfinger I said that πŸ˜‰
When it comes to working out, I tend to prefer going at it alone. Don’t get me wrong, I do love having someone else there to push and motivate me, but I don’t have any fitness loving friends, so when we DO workout, I’m typically the one dragging their butts along. I do it lovingly…kind of…

  14. You are so cute. I love group fitness classes!!! And as for those M&Ms I just got an e-mail for a CVS coupon so I might have to make a pit stop on my way home πŸ˜‰

  15. I love when people learn some code!!! It’s so fun to watch the discovery ;).

I have not tried any Quest bars yet – I need to get on this bandwagon, apparently!

I used to be a solo workout-er, but now that I’ve joined Crossfit I’ve fallen in love with the group aspect. It’s great having everyone around to cheer you on!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

That’s awesome, Alex! So glad your enjoying Crossfit! I’ve done some of those type of workouts in the past and it was always a blast! Oh look at that, I rhymed! πŸ˜‰

If you try a Quest bar, make it a cookie dough…hands down, best flavor!

  16. You look amazing girl!!!!

Also, I haven’t tried the new Quest flavors but I still want to… I never usually heat them in the oven, always opt for microwave for 15 sec. I’ll be sure to try them out soon.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

      Awww, thanks Kammie!! πŸ˜€

Yeah, I rarely ever think to bake them because usually I’m hungry like NOW and don’t have the patience to wait the what, seven minutes that it takes to cook? Ha! But I swear the cookie dough ones that I’ve got are the best I’ve ever gotten and perfect straight up!

  17. Those M&Ms look awesome! I love the pretzel ones. πŸ™‚

  18. Birthday cake M&Ms, shut the front door! I’m gonna need part of that package too.

  19. I seriously need to get an invite to one of these glute camps. Impromptu Atlanta trip soon, much? I swear by tea tree oil for my face, and when we had to bring in a herbal/botanical supplement for my alternative health class I brought my little bottle of tea tree oil and raved about it for much to long to the entire class of people haha.

  20. The video was fabulous. We all have imperfections (even super models) or things we don’t love about our features. The important thing is to accept them and then focus on those things you do love, like your booty. You are killing it in the action gym shot.

I’m a huge proponent of group fitness classes. It’s what I do almost every time I go to the gym: Spinning, Body Sculpt, Upper Body Blast, Lower Body Blast, Yoga. They’re all awesome and today I did Totally Tabata, and we all did Box Jumps!! I’ve always wanted to try these and I had a great time. I’m going be super sore tomorrow though. Worth it.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

EXACTLY!! Every time I start thinking negatively about some of the weight I’ve put on over the last several months, I just turn and take a peek at that booty I’ve got following me everywhere…yep, pretty much changes my tune within seconds! πŸ˜‰

And ok, I have to say I’m a little jealous of all the different classes your gym offers! I feel like mine is just the same handful of stuff! I want to take a tabata class!

      • I’m actually really lucky because my gym just added more classes: Body Pump and Treading (a special class all on the Treadmill). They also have a Barre class in the evenings I want to check out. It’s funny because I struggle with having so many choices because I want to do them all.
Bring your booty this way and we’ll do a class together.

        • kissmybroccoli says:

That’s a good problem to have! I’ve heard of Barre classes, but to be honest, I don’t know anything about them…is it like pilates or something? And too funny, the first thing I thought of when you mentioned the Treading class was some sort of pool-based boot camp! Haha!

  21. I love everything about this post. That video rocked! I wish we could ban photoshopping models.

Told you so on the tea tree and the iPhone!!! You should get green to match your code. You should also come back for another workout this Saturday. We have wine here too, as you know. πŸ˜‰

I’ll take those Quest bars off your hands. They’re my favorite ones yet!

  22. I like working out as a group, but I don’t really love most of the group classes offered at my gym. Yoga and spin are good, but step class and Body Attack require too much coordination for klutzy old me. Glute camp sounds fun though!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, you should have SEEN me in the last Body Attack class I umm…”attempted”? I gave up about halfway through and just started punching randomly in the air…I probably looked like I was having some kind of seizure! Ha!

  24. Birthday cake M&Ms?!?! WTWTF? [Yes, that is “What the–What the FUDGE?!”] I think we have all of ONE CVS here in Tuscaloosa, and if you don’t have them in Clarksville, I’m going to bet we don’t have them here. [Still can’t find the new Peach flavor of Extra Dessert Delights gum…]

(Sigh) Oh glute camp…. I’m proud of you for also doing shoulders afterward! The whole time, I kept saying, “I swear, I’m fit. I just run and do HIIT intervals, so I’m not as intense. I swear.” I must say though, as my glutes are now too big for most of my pants, I must be doing SOMETHING right.

I loved stealing the tea tree oil from Laura, and must remember to get some…

Also, have you tried melatonin? I know a bunch of people swear by just even half a pill for sleeping. I’ve been taking the Natural Vitality RELAX Magnesium + Calcium that Laura and Calee both use…drinking it like tea at night (half a serving). I think it has helped with both sleep AND GI issues. πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Well now I’m kicking myself! I had no idea that that Natural Vitality stuff helped with sleep too and when Laura and I were at WF’s, it was on some sort of super sale! Grrr! I have tried melatonin…all the way up to like 5mg at a time and it did absolutely nothing. The prescription that I got from the doc didn’t do a thing last week so I’m kinda back to the drawing board, but I think I may go camp out in the sleep aide aisle at the store as soon as I get a chance…maybe I can pull over a tent from the camping section? πŸ˜‰

Yay for booties! True story: I stopped dead in my tracks the other day when I caught my reflection in the hall bathroom mirror…I was like “Daaaaaaymn, look at that booty!” Hahaha!

  25. Krista says:

Ugh- insomnia. I feel your pain. I’ve tried so few things. Other than TylenolPM, here’s what helps me: chamomile tea, 21 drops lavender oil rollerball, and a pranayama breathing app. Melatonin also worked…but it worked too well into the following day!

  26. Hahaha birthday cake m n ms. Pretty sure we just got raspberry ones or some crap. Some fail crap flavour.

Look at you in lifting (roping?) action- only you can make it look graceful and classy!

Confession- I still have no idea all those html terms etc…and for the longest time thought it was short hand for hotmail.

Regarding the insomnia- have you tried casein protein powder before? It’s a decent protein powder to use before bed and I find if I mix that with some almond milk to make into a pudding consistency and then top with nut butter, it helps me fall into slumber- that or cereal with milk!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hmmm, I’ve not seen raspberry, but I will say the cherry cordial ones I picked up just after Christmas are pretty damn tasty! And omg, thank you! Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one out there who doesn’t know a thing about html!

I DO have some casein powder! I knew it was good before bed since it breaks down slow and keeps you full, but I never thought about it helping with sleep! I think I know what I’m having before bed in the morning! πŸ˜€

  27. I want some birthdaycake M&Ms in my life like now. Om to the Nom!

That glute camp sounded tough but good.

My sister and I used to use tea tree everything to help with our skin. You’ve made me want to go buy another bottle of it as I’ve not used it in years.

Not good that I’m behind on reading you blog but good I already know I don’t have to wait for those waffles!

  28. Sarah Pie says:

It’s the little things isn’t it? The new green tag cloud looks fabulous πŸ™‚ I also love tea tree oil and all the group fitness fun at the gym.

Did you dilute the tea tree oil? Or just put it straight from bottle to face?
