COFFEE

Alright, who out there perked up just by seeing that word? πŸ˜‰ I have to say, even with my caffeine sensitivity, I could never live without coffee for too long. Hence the reason I’ve gone absolutely MAD since my doctor told me to discontinue my coffee drinking until we solve my little “Night of the Walking Dead” problem.

So can you imagine the distress I was in when I discovered that FitFluential had chosen me to review and sample the coffee protein powder from Nature’s Best?? I swear, I had it on my kitchen counter, just staring at it, for a week before I FINALLY came up with and idea that would later cause me to lose my breath, let out a very audible sigh, grin and promptly pat myself on the back.

Because hey, the doc never said I couldn’t EAT my coffee! πŸ˜€

JAVAPRO is a protein powder made with REAL coffee and comes in six different flavors (French vanilla, latte, hazelnut, caramel, espresso, and mocha). One serving provides 80mg of caffeine and TWENTY grams of high quality great-tasting protein!

I was given the mocha flavor to try (but omg, I’ve seriously GOT to get my hands on that caramel!) and I was pleasantly surprised to find no “fake” coffee flavor and no weird aftertaste.

The idea for these No Bake Protein “Buzz” Bites (cute name, no?) was in my head for a few days before I finally got my booty in the kitchen and made my dream a reality. Without having made any sort of energy snack thingy before, I’ll admit, this was a bit of a shot in the dark (ahhh, see what I did there?), but I have to say, they came out even better than I imagined!

These babies come together in less than 15 minutes and taste amazing eaten straight out of the food processor (no shame) but I’ll tell you, if you practice a bit of self control, you WILL be rewarded. After a couple of hours in the fridge, the flavor intensifies to smack yo’ mama level good!

I dare you to stop at just ONE! πŸ˜‰

  1. You may be surprised to know, I’m not a coffee drinker; although, I do like coffee flavored things, so these bites sound terrific! I’ll definitely be checking out that protein powder!

  2. These look great, coffee and date balls are two of my current favorite things. I always try to limit myself to one cup of coffee a day, but I am mid-semester in school and that rule no longer applies. I typically make protein shakes with coffee in the mornings so the added benefit of having a coffee=protein powder might make my life even easier (first world problem?!)

  3. YUM! I am totally addicted to those little bites at the moment – I keep searching for new recipes and dreaming up ideas for more! But these…coconut AND coffee?! I can’t resist. πŸ™‚

mmmmm these are sooooo calling my name. Anything coffee flavored holds a special place in my heart. true story, my step-mom got me hooked on coffee when I was 14. she loves starbucks, so she’d take me and share some of her latte with me. I may or may not have always gotten a full cup of whip cream on the side, but that’s a completely different story….

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hahaha! Love it! I used to ask my mom for coffee all the time when I was little! She’d pour me like half a mug and I’d fill most of it up with cream! Lol

  5. Snack balls? Well, I am obsessed! I did so many parties that my blender broke… At least, I still had package of these snack in the refrigerator πŸ˜‰

  6. Hahah I have to say I actually LOL’d when I saw the big “COFFEE.” I haven’t heard of JavaPro until now.. I’ll have to check it out and look at the ingredients, etc. Cause ummm I love coffee flavored things.

  7. I hate drinking coffee, but I love coffee-flavoured sweet things so maybe I could handle these? They sound awesome!

  8. Heather- seriously. These look INSANE. Literally- INSANE. This is my favorite combo of flavors EVER:) Great recipe dear ! Please just tell me one thing though- WHERE did you get that coffee mug? I’m DYING here. I have this “hoarding” problem with cute unique mugs, lol. I’ve found some of the cutest ones at places like Ross, TJ MAxx, Big Lots, Hobby Lobby, etc. Anywho! The mug and the recipe are awesome:) I can’t wait to share this with everyone in my Fab Finds Friday post tomorrow!:)

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thanks Heather! You are too sweet! I actually got the mug ahhhhhhhhht TJ MAXX…which is where about 85% of my dishes come from! πŸ˜‰

  9. Good job girly!! They look great! πŸ™‚

  10. lindsay says:

i want to eat these now (i almost said balls but restrained myself). That’s laura’s job

  11. I’ll take 5 of these mama smacking morsels, please and thank you  Seriously though, adding coffe to energy bites is brilliant. But I’ll try not to talk about the delicious deliciousness of coffee since you’re currently on a break… especially since you were kind enough to use AB in this recipe. I do love my coffee, though. Mmm, mmm good πŸ˜›

  12. You really cannot go wrong with balls. πŸ˜‰

  13. I love coffee flavoured treats! Growing up coffee crisp was always one of my favourite chocolate bars… heck, I still love it. When my parents bought a box of mini chocolate bars this year to hand out at Halloween, some of the mini coffee crisp bars just so happened to mysteriously disappear. πŸ˜›

These bites look awesome though (and hello, way healthier than coffee crisp)! I’m sure they’d be great made with some instant coffee powder and vanilla protein powder subbed for the JavaPro!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah, definitely…I would’ve put that in the post, but wasn’t sure if it was allowed since it was sponsored. I’ve never heard of coffee crisp bars! Guess that’s a Canadian thing? Sounds delicious!

  14. Jury’s still out on balls or bites!

And I am genuinely a better person with coffee. I want to try this protein powder!!!

  15. Whew girl, whip me up a batch! These looks so good! Oh my.. I have been obsessing with coffee in the morning. I just can’t get enough of it! So good. πŸ™‚

I haven’t had energy balls before, but these sound easy to make and delicious!

  16. I WANT!! I hate you are still dealing with insomnia. The offer for baby D to keep you company still stands… just sayin!

  18. Genius idea to combine coffee and a energy bar…hello ENERGY. These would be insane as a pre workout snack and you wouldn’t even need a pre workout supplement if you take one (often just an elevated caffeine booster!)- I NEED A FOOD PROCESSOR.

I hope your insomnia gets sorted soon and can reintroduce coffee. They don’t call it liquid gold for nothing….or maybe just start counting wine as the new black..coffee.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I will tell you right now, the months I went without a food processor were the darkest times of my life…ok, maybe that’s a little melodramatic, but I think you catch my drift! πŸ˜‰

Wine is the new black! Haha, love it!
