DIYing and Spring Loving

Hey guys! Hope you all had a great Friday! Now you can join me in the weekend…hope you don’t mind that I got started without you! πŸ˜‰ If you missed yesterday’s post, you may want to check that out first! I promise it’s drool-worthy!

My plan was to sleep in today since I had the day off, buuuuuuuuut you all know how that goes…old lady syndrome strikes again! Even after staying up until 1:30am, I rolled over and was wide awake at 7 on.the.dot! Oy!

I started my day out with some OOIAJ (obviously I’ve been a little obsessed with these lately):

I’ve decided that peaches and almonds go together like PB&J!
I have a feeling Namaste Gurl would agree!

This was basically the same mix I used here only with a combo of coconut milk + water instead of almond milk (all out…so sad) and peach flavored Siggis instead of Chobani.

Topped with a little graham cracker action!

If you follow me on Twitter…and if you don’t, you really should ;)…you know that today was spent DIYing it up in the bathroom. I am my father’s daughter for sure. “Why pay someone to do something that you [can Google and] do yourself!”

I installed not one, but TWO bathroom faucets all by myself today! And if you don’t think that’s something to pat yourself on the back for, then YOU try doing it!

It may have taken me a couple of hours AND a trip to Home Depot, but by the end of it all, it went from this:

To this:

x TWO!…BAM!

Sorry for the yellowish pics. Too proud of myself to take the time to change my camera settings. πŸ˜‰

FYI: I don’t recommend jumping into this task on a full stomach! Drain gunk is nasssssty! Pfew!

After being cooped up in the house for half the day with this task, I felt the itch to get out and enjoy some of the 70 degree weather we had today! Love!

I enjoyed a 2.5 mile run followed by a little over a 1 mile walk around the neighborhood. It was SO nice to enjoy the feel of the sun on my skin after being stuck in the hospital for 10 hours a day for the last 4 days. I can’t believe how many trees have started blossoming! Did you realize that it’s only two more days until the first day of Spring?! Yay!

When I got back to the house I didn’t want to go inside just yet so I let Tiger come out and explore while I played around with my camera.

Warning: Springy photo montage is about to take place!

Experimenting with focus

Yep, those would be my ghostly white legs! πŸ˜‰

On the prowl!

My favorite!

After our little photo shoot, Tiger and I headed inside and I hopped right in the shower…nothing like crawling around in the grass trying to get your cat to actually look into the camera to get you all nice and itchy!

Didn’t do any packing today, but it was totally worth it to get to spend a little time outside. I’ve seriously been needing a good solid dose of Vitamin D lately!

Well, I’m off here! Netflix just sent me Dexter Season 3 and I’m all about spending the rest of the night drooling over everyone’s favorite serial killer!

“See” you guys tomorrow and I promise to have some foodage for ya!

Any other Do-it-Yourselfers Out there? Brag on yourself a bit! What have you done?

  1. I LOVE the maple almond butter! That sucks your jar is gone πŸ˜‰

    • I know, but I’m thinking I’m finally going to make use of all the nuts I’m hoarding in my freezer so maybe I will create a Heather’s Maple Almond Butter (patent pending of course!)

What a beautiful day, perfect for a nice jog! Super proud of your sinks, they look great! I moved to a new dorm room (including microwave, fridge and all of my food) in two days all by myself!

  3. Nice work on the faucets! Tomorrow the husband (who is 80% of the DIY in our relationship) and I are going to make Square Foot Gardening beds. We have the lumber and tools sitting in the garage, waiting for the day. Hopefully it will turn out okay and we’ll have some homegrown produce this year.

haa!! many years ago, I managed an awesome 1922 brick apartment building… I had to learn all kinds of everything… I have replaced entire sinks and claw-foot tubs!! πŸ™‚ seems like a world ago… it was a really fun experience though. the building had a basement and a creepy sub basement with all kinds of crazy. once a month I had to go to the basement and “bleed the boiler” – I always brought a friend with me – that was WAY CREEPY! πŸ˜€

oh, and I am now following you on twitter!! thanks for saying that, because I WASN’T !! <3

    • Yay! I just got the email!

Ohh, sounds spooky! I def wouldn’t taken protection…ahem, I mean a friend with me as well! πŸ˜‰ Props to you…replacing entire sinks and tubs? Wow! I <3 claw foot tubs! One day my dream house will have one for sure!

Haha i’m paler than that. I don’t curr though πŸ˜‰
Good job on your sink, I sure couldn’t do that.
Such pretty pictures, and cute kitty. Yay for SPRING πŸ˜€

  6. Namaste Gurl says:

I’ve never tried peaches and almond butter, but if you say the two go well together, then I certainly believe you :).
Have you tried Justin’s chocolate hazelnut butter? To DIE for is all I have to say πŸ™‚
I’m a whimp, so I always end up hiring people to do the easiest tasks I could probably do myself. Yeah, I’m a girly- girl, I guess πŸ™‚

    • So so SO good! You have to try it! Actually I just tried the chocolate hazelnut butter…HEAB gave me a few sample packets! Soooo yummy!

Hey, I’m a girly girl too…I may have done this all by myself, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t any tears involved in the process! πŸ˜‰

  7. Looks like a great DIY day…and totally looks like spring in the pics!
I do not like any DIY project…but I still do it for the money factor!

  8. Love the photo montage – they are stunning! πŸ™‚ That oats in a jar sounds amazing as well!

  9. We always take things on for ourselves. I hate paying someone to do things that we can do. We have changed out faucets and replaced garbage disposals just recently. Your kitty is so cute. We have two orange tabbies and they are just so sweet. I hope you have a great Saturday. I am totally getting my butt outside today!

  10. omg i am a TERRIBLE DIYer!! not even funny!.. AHH so jealous of spring!! i hope it sticks here- it was gorgeous today but rained all day yesterday… london weather much?

  11. Ania says:

Hey, I stumbled upon your website the other day and read all posts at once! So inspiring! Your food looks amazing and your pictures are really pretty πŸ™‚

Your day looks so nice! I wish it was so warm here in The Netherlands, but we have to wait a little more for spring I guess… I really love the picture of these swirly plants – do you know what they’re called? Look like chives πŸ˜›

And speaking of DIY, I don’t even try to do this sort of stuff, that’s what I have my boyfriend for πŸ˜‰ but I make cards/scrapbooks/layouts/albums and all that, it’s also kind of DIY πŸ˜‰

    • Thank you so much Ania! You are too sweet! Hopefully spring won’t be too far off for ya…though, I have to say I don’t know a thing about seasonal temps in The Netherlands. How are your winters and summers? Here in Tennessee we have a lot of humidity which makes for really cold winter months and dry, muggy summers. I live for Spring and Fall! πŸ˜‰

Not sure what the plants are…just weeds in my backyard! Ha! Although they probably do belong to the chive/onion family since they have a similar scent!

Oh, I love a gal with a creative spirit! I have TONS of stuff to make my own scrapbooks, but sadly have yet to sit down and make it happen! I need to get on that!

      • Ania says:

Well, in The Netherlands we have rather okay winters (it doesn’t really get lower than 23F) and moderate summers, but lately the climate has changed a lot and we sometimes have it super hot here. I just wish for sun and around 68F πŸ™‚

You definitely should sit down and do some scrapbooking when you have a free day – it’s so relaxing (at least for me :P)!

  12. Mrs. Fish says:

My husband is the big DIYer household wise. I’m so lucky to have him!
I’m a big DIYer in my classroom. Give me some cute fonts, and clip art…and I can recreate most posters/teaching aids that cost WAY TOO MUCH at the teacher store.

  13. You go girl!!! I’ve totally replaced all the innards in the tank of a toilet before, which I was also super proud of! πŸ˜€

  14. Love the spring pics!
And your DIYability of course… My colleagues and I had to build a river float last summer to take part in this festival and as neither of the boys could use a hammer, I showed them how it was done! and felt very smug… πŸ™‚
And almonds and peach?! I made almond peach pancakes this morning… great minds!

  15. Awe, Tiger is SO cute! πŸ˜€

I like to make my own cards! πŸ˜€

    xoxo
    Kathleen
