Mmm, Mmm, Good!

Happy Monday my little broccoli florets! Hope you all had a good start to your week!

This week is what I call my “late week” at the hospital. I go in at 9am and get off at 7:30pm. These are the weeks where I usually get up early and get a good workout in, have a nice breakfast, and do some blog reading before I go in for a long 10 hour shift. Well, since all the forces in this world couldn’t pry my face off my pillow this morning, I only managed to get ONE of these things done.

I’ll give you one guess as to which one got top priority!

Anyone care for some cheesecake French toast?

I have seriously become obsessed with Lori’s recipe for Banana Smashed Cheesecaked French Toast! I’ve had it FOUR times in the last two weeks!

No lie, this is the best French toast that will ever touch your lips!

I’m not so sure I’ll ever be able to make French toast again without smashing a banana into the bread first! The combination of the sweet banana with the nutritional yeast- spiked egg mixture is insanely delicious. I’ve served them with maple syrup, peanut, butter and of course my favorite, Sarena’s Coconut Cream and each plate was just as great as the last!

No food goes to waste! You better believe I made a mini crepe thingy with the leftover egg mixture! Mmm, mmm, good!

Speaking of “mmm, mmm, good”…yesterday’s lunch was every bit of delicious! I met Tori at my favorite sushi place, Kora, for a Sister-Sushi Date!

Our “appetizer” of cheese rangoons that came AFTER our meal.

Fortune cookie says: bad waitress…bad tip!

Who am I to go against Chinese prophesy??

Tori ordered the Dancing Eel with eel, cucumber, cream cheese, and
avocado

And I just HAD to be different!

Oshinko (Japanese pickle)

And the Salmon Skin roll

Believe it or not, it was darn tasty!

Sunday afternoon, I’m a sistah snacking on some salmon skin!

Ohh, you liked that didn’t you? πŸ˜‰

*Alliteration nerd alert!*

It’s hard to believe that I’m the same girl who used to order chicken strips and fries at practically every restaurant I went to. I was always too afraid that I would regret getting something else for fear that I wouldn’t like it. My have my tastes/attitude changed since then! Nowadays, I rarely ever order the same thing twice and I’ve discovered a lot of NEW favorite foods!

What about you, do you like to try new things when you eat out or do you tend to stick with what you know?

Ooh I’ve never been called a broccoli floret before. Haha! I want that french toast nowww! I don’t even like french toast (I’m a pancakes and waffles girl) but I know I would like that with the coconut cream. Your sushi looks beautiful! If I’m at a restaurant where I have an all-time favorite dish I order that, but if not I mix it up.

  7. The French toast…OH MY…that looks amazing! I do the same thing with the left over egg! Why waste it? It tastes so good! I like trying new things, but unfortunately, I have to be careful. I have to do my research before I go anywhere out to eat. Looks like a fun day for you!

  8. That french toast looks amazing. And I love that little crepe!!
When I was little, I would always get the fried chicken tenders with fries, too! haha. I’d never want to try anything else because I thought I wouldn’t like it and would miss out. I was kind of a finicky child :X Now I love trying new things.
    …within reason.

  9. That French toast looks to die for!

  10. I am the WORST when I go out to eat because I want to try EVERYTHING…I can never make up my mind and end up trying to convince the waiter or waitress to let me invent my own meal so I can eat everything I want to taste. πŸ™‚

  11. I havent made French Toast in a looong time, this made me want to do it again- they look so good!
When I eat out I tend to go with things I know I like, and also that I know are vegan! But I love almost everything, so if it sounds good and “safe”, Ill go with it πŸ™‚

  12. Oh. my. word. I’m not even the biggest fan of French toast, yet I find myself wanting to make that… the combination of nooch and banana sounds like it would be super good.

Chicien and fries was what I always used to order at restaurants too. These days I try to mix things up and go for something more “grown up” lol.

  13. Looks like you two had a great time!! That sushi looks fabulous!

  14. I heart sushi! Such a cute sister date!

p.s. just catching up on my fave blogs–LOVE the pb&J + bbq tofu idea! You never cease to amaze πŸ™‚

  15. are you serious about your fortune cookie saying that?!? that is hilarious!

  16. SO GLAD you like/d the banana smashed french toast. I happened to enjoy it too. πŸ˜‰ Must make that again with the coconut cream. Yum!

Ok, so I’m very much so CRAVING sushi now. Like bad. I need it.

I always like trying new things but I tend to stay with the same (and yummy) menu items.. hate when that happens. Sushi though, I love getting weird and new combos.

  17. You’re a total cooking connoisseur!

Sushi, I could eat that stuff for every meal it’s so addicting. I like to try new things for definite πŸ˜€

  19. GAH FRENCH TOAST HEAVEN!! ur sis is just SO DARN cute! im so impressed u managed to get amazing photos at the restaurant!! i usually stick with what I know- too risky to try new things ahah!

  20. KT says:

That looks so good, especially the coconut cream! I love sushi and with my mom coming into town tomorrow (she’s also a huge sushi fan) I’m hoping to satisfy that craving while she is here πŸ™‚

J gives me a hard time because I order the same things at restaurants all the time. I am always up for trying new restaurants and new types of cuisine but if the restaurant makes it into a rotation, I end up getting the same thing time after time (what can I say? I know what I like!)

  21. Jenny says:

Holy gasp that french toast looks orgasmic! I’ve seen it on Lori’s blog but keep forgetting to make it. I must get on this. I use to be the girl that got chicken tenders with fries too lol I hated fish up until a year ago and I recently had sushi for the first time. I couldn’t believe all the amazing food I had been depriving myself of! How was the eel sushi? I’m still too scared to try it lol

    • Oh my gosh girl, you HAVE GOT TO TRY EEL! It has an amazing sweet taste and I love it when they roll it with the crunchy shrimp…I’m such a texture nerd! It’s delicious!

PS, make that French toast! With peanut butter and chocolate/carob chips, it is to die for!

  22. Anastasia says:

Yuuuummm.. that french toast looks incredible! So does the sushi! I’ve never heard of Japanese pickle. I’ll have to get brave and try it one day :]

  23. Ma Ma Megan says:

When I was little I always ordered mac ‘n cheese or a cheesburger (without PICKLES) and fries.
Now I rarely eat out but If I do I usually stick to something i know.. Unless it’s like some fancy vegan restaurant then I’ll go crazy and order something I know I’ve never tried before πŸ™‚

  24. ahhhhhmazing french toast! =) no wonder you had it 4 times!

and japanese pickle roll? ummm tell me more!

    • I actually expected a bit more from this. It had the texture of a pickle, but it wasn’t really sweet or sour…just crunchy! But the salmon skin roll was where it was at!

  25. Robyn :) says:

Depends on the restauarant. If they make something really good that I like I tend to order it every time πŸ™‚ Unless I am in the mood for something else LOL

  26. Mrs. Fish says:

It’s getting harder and harder for me to wake up these days! The end of the school year can’t come soon enough for me! πŸ™‚
Your sushi and breakfast looked divine!

  27. I used to get cheeseburgers in restaurants every time as a kid, but now I love trying new things! Since I don’t eat out that much, I believe in lots of variety πŸ™‚

    • My thoughts exactly! I always want to order something I can’t make myself or something I’ve been wanting to try before I go out, buy all the ingredients, and take the time to make it!

  28. Sarah Banks says:

that french toast sounds WONDERFUL! I cant wait to try it!
