Howabout a Tour?

Hello broccoli kissers! How’s everyone’s weekend hangover? I’ll be honest, I wasn’t ready to go back to work today after the GORGEOUS weather we had over the last few days. Kind of crazy that over the course of two weeks the highs went from 60 to nearly 90! But that’s Tennessee weather for ya! The saying around here is, “If you don’t like the weather, stick around a while…it’ll change!” SO true!

Other than enjoying some beeeeeautiful weather this weekend, I found a little motivation (not exactly sure where it was hiding) and did a little decorating settling around Casa de Broccoli! <- Not really sure we can call it decorating just yet…I’m still trying to figure out how I want things!

It’s been almost two months since Move Day (honestly, it feels like I’ve been here a lot longer) and I’ve been doing my best to get settled in at a good non-stress-inducing pace. So I thought I’d show you guys some pics from around ze casa!

Let’s take a walk!

Front bathroom done up in my beachy decor!

You are looking at the very FIRST pictures to be hung on my virgin walls!

Ahhhh!

I bought this new bedding about a month ago and forgot to tell you guys about it!

Love the linens, hate the bed (it’s too “country”)

I love the Β incorporation of some geometric print

I don’t know what it is about design that focuses on geometrics…I just LOVE it!

The possible new solution to the laundry door dilemma

What do you guys think?

Of course if I decide to keep them, there will be some hemming involved!

Living room view numero uno

El gato! πŸ˜‰

Living room view numero dos

The TV is right over there –>

I LOVE the orange accents and the lamps were a steal at TJ Maxx for $30 each!

My “coffee” kitchen

How appropriate of me to make my kitchen into a shrine to the “life force,” right?

I eventually would like to get a small hutch for the corner

Annnnnd

I can’t very well show you around the house and not give you an update on
our newest family member…

Remember this little guy?

Well, thanks to Sarena & Kristina he does have a name!

Meet Frankie G!Β

Frank because he totally looks like a Frank
And “G” for Goliath (the type of tomato plant he is)!

A couple of weeks ago, I went to the store and found him a new “bed”

Ok, so for like 4 days before that, I was a bad plant mommy and forgot to water him! πŸ™

Buuuuuuut

Look at him today!

Wait a minute…do you see what I see?

Ahhhh!

Is it weird that I feel like a mom who just saw her child take his first steps?

Comments/suggestions on the curtain “door”?
I didn’t want to go with a plain white color that would be lost in the wall color, but I also didn’t want something too distracting. I think this ties in the colors between the living room and master bedroom…what do you think?

What is your design style?
According to this quiz, I am “modern eclectic.”

You see that? I’m the CHEF! Yeah, I think they got it right here! πŸ˜‰

  2. Anastasia says:

I love the grey and orange together! How nice that the kitty matches too! haha :]

  3. Veronica says:

I love what you’ve done with your place! Your house is gorgeous. I really like the laundry door fix–we did the same thing on one of our closets–much easier to access now!

  4. Missy says:

I like the laundry fix as well – just hem and starch/iron those babies and you are good to go!
We have tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. I too squeal at new “babies”!
Love all the other decor too and I agree, the bed is a bit country, but you could paint it antique white and give it a “shabby chic” look!

  5. I love your home! It looks so cozy, and I love the color schemes – especially the orange accents in the living room :] Digging the curtain solution for the doors, too.
And yay for tomatoes! My mom is growing a fig on my fig tree (I’d say I’m growing a fig on my fig tree, but that’d be a total lie. I always forget to water them and the one time I was responsible for them I left them out in the cold all night. I’d be so good with a kid.) and I feel proud πŸ˜›

  6. YAAAY Frank Goliath! πŸ˜‰

I love the curtain door – I did the same thing at the clinic with our spa laundry area – it was right next to the yoga and meditation studio and the door was REALLY loud… so I ripped them out and hung curtains! much easier to maneuver too.

I love the house tour – and 2 months?? to me it seems like you just moved in! I love it – everything looks great!

  7. Ma Ma Megan says:

I love your house! It seems so friendly πŸ™‚

I just got a basil plant and it’s so fun to watch it grow! Your tomato is lookin’ goood!

  8. Love it, everything looks great! I think your solution for the doors works, its a nice combination of colors.

  9. Frankie! You’ve gotten so big! Look at that beauty! The house looks great Heather. I love the curtains. I like them long too. I’m glad your finding yourself at home.

  10. Your kitty is so Photogenic!!! πŸ™‚

    Your house is GORGEOUS!!!

  11. I LOVE the curtain idea! And I think Alex and I were looking at that same comforter… Target? The orange accents totally rock, though your house is substantially lacking in purple *sadface* πŸ˜‰

    • Actually Walmart. I looked at Target, but my cheapskate ways got the better of me and I decided to go with this one for under $50…sheets and everything!

Aww, I DO need more purple! I can definitely see a grapey/eggplant color working in the office…eventually! Ha!

  12. I have no design style lol. We’ll see how having a townhouse with my friends turns out next year πŸ˜‰

Love love love those orange lamps and your kitchena nd everything!!! πŸ™‚

  13. Lee says:

Haha! I just took the quiz and it said I mostly resemble an unmade bed. This is so true. I never make my bed!

  14. Rach says:

Oooh look at you with your little tomatoes! How cute! Love the house, girl. You’re doing a great job. I say the curtains look good!

    And I’m a Bespoke Classic! πŸ™‚

  15. Jenny says:

I LOVE seeing where people live! (is that creepy? meh. don’t answer that!)

You’re place is absolutely beautiful. I’m especially in love with your coffee shrine and couches – they look so comfy!! Perfect for when I come visit and sleepover πŸ˜‰ ah, dare to dream.

    • Oh yes! Majorly comfy couches! When I was shopping for them, I did the “sick test” as I like to call it. I laid down, rolled around, and curled up into a fetal like position to determine if I would be able to survive a “quarantine” on it or not! πŸ˜‰

Ahhh, how much fun we would have with a sleepover!

  16. KT says:

I was definitely not ready to go back to work yesterday (or today for that matter) after our busy graduation weekend!

I love your house, especially the beachy bath decor and your bedroom’s linens! We have a curtain similar to your laundry room curtain in our bathroom to somewhat hide our cat Woods’ litter box πŸ™‚

P.S. I didn’t know you had an orange cat–aren’t they the best?!

  17. Riss says:

Love the tour! And your little ‘mater plant made me giggle… We started a little herb garden out on my back deck about a months ago and I’m shocked it’s still thriving. Enjoy the fresh produce… Salad season is here!

  18. LOVE your house! It’s adorable! I really like those curtains, they’re so pretty!

  19. kate says:

ahh when I forget to water my plants they never forgive me and then they just die πŸ™

  20. you’re house is adorable! and I say keep the curtains! they’re chic and add a little color πŸ™‚

  21. Love the tour and i’m so proud of you AND your tomato πŸ™‚

  22. janetha says:

Cute cute cute! I loved the tour! I felt like I was there. I adore the coffee accents in your kitchen, mine is the same way. Coffee coffee coffee! We have drapes for a laundry door and love it. So much nicer and easier than doors. After a little hemming, they turned out perfect. You have such a great knack for decor!

    • Thanks girlie! Sometimes I wonder if all those “oh, I LIKE!” things actually do GO together! I LOVE your kitchen! All the pics you’ve posted make me wanna jump right in there and cook something!

  23. I love your decorating style! Your house looks like it should be on TV πŸ™‚

I like the curtains in front of the laundry. I didn’t have closet doors when I had a closet so I put up similar curtains- it hides everything and makes it look pretty!

    • Thank you! If only you saw the other two rooms in the house…then you might retract that statement about tv! Ha! They look like they belong to a bachelor…bare and boring!

  24. Katie says:

Awwww your place is great!!! I love it! I love the kitchen so much!

Yay for a tomato plant! FRESH is the best!!

  25. Your home looks so inviting! I love the bedclothes with the leaf print! And your cat is so cute, makes me want to grab and cuddle … him? her? (He/she would probably hate that. ;))

I just planted tomatoes last month! I don’t have much space, and no garden with beds, so grow them in big flowerpots, like you. And today I’ve disvored that they already have the first green tomatoes! πŸ˜€ They’re very small though, nothing like your Goliath’s, but my tomatoes are rather a kind of David. They’re cherry tomato plants. πŸ˜‰

    • Thank you Kath! Tiger is a “he” and after he got used to you, he would LOVE cuddle time! There just aren’t enough hours in the day to get him the attention that he wants…like 24/7! Haha!

This is actually my first go at “gardening” and I’m super shocked I haven’t killed the poor thing yet! Keeping my fingers crossed that my “black thumb” doesn’t show itself again! Love the analogy…cherry tomatoes=David! Too cute!

  27. Actually, my thumb is black as well! But I’m very careful to water my plants everyday, and somehow they’ve made it until now. πŸ™‚
