What I’ve Been Eating Wednesday

Hey guys! It’s that time of week again!

Time to party with all my favorite foodies!

I’m sure most of you know how this works by now, but for those of you who don’t, Wednesdays around the Broccoli abode are strictly for blog hopping foodporn parties via

What I Ate Wednesday

Where we food bloggers get together for a big party showcasing all of our eats for the day!Β I’d recommend grabbing a snack before reading any further! πŸ˜‰

Last week I saw Lee do a “What I’ve Been Eating” Wednesday post and I thought it was a great idea…plus it helps mix up the party a bit!Β So here’s what I’ve been nibbling/tasting/devouring lately:

Protein pancakes topped with angry birds bananas! πŸ˜‰

Obviously, I couldn’t sit down to eat with him just staring at me like that, so…

Melty peanut butter and vanilla bean paste to the rescue!

Drown in my peanutty pool of deliciousness banana slice! Mwahaha!

I finally got my hands on some Mama Chia!

Little tip when your at Whole Foods about to purchase something you’re not sure you’re gonna like: pick up item while checking out, tilt your head to the side, scrunch up your face and ask, “Are these any good?”

Proven to be 95% effective at getting said item COMPED!

Loved the light refreshing flavor and fun texture…and of course you can’t beat 10g of fiber per bottle!

Microwaved protein oats with Crunchy Nuggets (aka generic Grape Nuts), Biscoff, and TJ’s fig butter

French toast with bananas and Biscoff

I told you I was addicted! πŸ˜‰

And there was a reappearance of my other obsession…

BBQ tofu and PB&J!

Made with some not-so-fresh tofu

August 29?

Don’t worry, I did the smell, poke, lick test first! πŸ˜‰

More veggie pizza!

TJ’s whole wheat crust topped with cilantro jalapeno hummus, cheddar/mozzarella cheese, spinach, portabellos, tomatoes, red bell pepper, pickled jalapenos, and green onions

So quick…so easy…so delicious!

After I saw these dark chocolate and peanut butter mixed nuts on Jessica’s blog, I KNEW I had to try them…yep, they are as mouth-watering as they sound!

I may or may not have raided the container and polished off all the pecans within the first 48 hours after opening it. πŸ˜‰

What has been your favorite snacky thing lately?

Do you frequently pick out all the “good stuff” from trail mix/combo type foods?

Don’t forget to swing by Peas & Crayons and show Jenn a little love in the comment section! Wednesday’s just wouldn’t be as fun without all her hard work and dedication to get it going each and every week!

  13. Goodness, this is where all the good food has been hiding!

My favorite snack lately has been half a bagel thin cooked with an egg cracked in the hole. It’s so simple but it’s so warm and satisfying.

  14. PB&Jenny says:

It’s official.. no one can hold a candle to your pictures! Seriously Heather, you are so talented!!

I guess you can’t blame the banana for being so angry. I’d be unhappy too if I knew I was about to be drenched in a pool of peanut butter and eaten. Actually, I’d be thrilled (about the PB part, not the consumption part)

Any chance a gal could score that protein pancake recipe? Pretty please with a cherry on top :)

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, you’re so sweet Jenny! I wish I could tell you these fluffy cakes of goodness came from some kind of secret family recipe, but this (now try not to be too audibly disappointed) is actually just one scoop of protein powder, 1 serving just-add-water pancake mix, and water. No frills…just plain, simple, FAST pancakes! Perfect for a hurried weekday morning when your priorities lean more toward spending time decorating/photographing your breakfast rather than cooking it. πŸ˜‰

  15. You totally win the award for “most beautiful pancakes” hahaha they’re AMAZING! I totally want a bite. Or 10 bites. Or the whole plate.

And I HAVE to find a jar of that Biscoff spread. It looks amazing! I’ve only had a sample at the store once :(

    Happy WIAW!

  16. I love your pancake and french toast photos! My favorite snacky thing lately is crunchy honeycrisp apples. Just can’t get enough, they’re so delicious.

  17. I love that nut mix! I always pick the cashews out of the nut mixes first πŸ˜‰

  18. Lauren says:

I miss bbq tofu with pb & j. I haven’t had that in too long. And those pancakes are seriously astounding. You eat so beautifully :)

  19. Hot damn! That pizza makes me want to lick my computer screen. How do you make pictures of food look so darn delicious? I love the banana topping on your pancakes too! It looks like a work of art. I definitely need to amp up my garnishing skills :)

  20. River says:

Love this post….those pancakes are a huge breakfast!

I always pick out the yoghurt covered raisins from my cereal (there’s usually only about 10) and eat them. haha, guilty!

  21. OMG all your eats look irresistable! You’ve seriously got me drawling. Talk about food porn! I must get me some vanilla bean paste to jazz up our breakfast pancakes. You’ve also reminded me that I haven’t made pizza in so long! Time to get the pizza trays out me thinks. Thanks for sharing your delicious eats xx

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you Sharon! I have been on a serious pizza kick lately. Haven’t had any in months and now I’ve had it three times in the last 2 weeks! Haha!

If you can find the vanilla bean paste, it is amazing drizzled on practically anything! I love it on oats too! So much better than plain ol’ vanilla extract!

  22. Caitlin says:

LOL the angry banana slice totally cracked me up! And the final shot of that breakfast totally made me drool. Holy heaven that looks tasty!

  23. lizzie says:

YUM!!!!! i really am craving protein pancakes and that vanilla bean sauce! it looks sooo flippin good!

  24. Kiah says:

Hmm I’d have to say my new favorite snacky thing are the 365 vanilla cream cookies. I had about 10 before my 8 mile run today. Great life decision right there. :-)

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Hey, as long as they didn’t “talk back to you”, sounds like perfect pre-run fuel to me! πŸ˜‰

  25. Now that looks like a tasty day! I’m loving all the peanut butter and jam goodness! I’ve now roasted 3 pumpkins and eaten them! My snack of choice is going to turn me orange for the season!

  26. Mmmm your eats look fantastic!

  27. Beautiful pancakes indeed. I want to try melty peanut butter and bananas as a topping… hadn’t thought of that! Mmm ideas.

I am afraid to use old tofu, though. I had a *really* bad experience with tofu in Cambodia and I am now super cautious of the stuff unless I know for sure it’s fresh!!

  28. Kara says:

omgggg drooling over all your eats! especially those pancakes and the pizza! ahhh yumm! i just came across your blog and i love it! i nominated you for the versatile blogger award, pass it on :)!

  29. Lindsay says:

I just need to come over and eat what you are eating. Your food always looks so amazing. Although that scary pancake with the angry face. IDK about that one…haha but then it gets that melty yummy sauce on it and its like BAM amazing.

  30. BBQ tofu and PB??? Very interesting combo! That pizza is calling my name.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I know, it’s definitely one of my weirdest combos! But so good! The key is that it’s BBQ seasoning…not sauce!

  31. lovely heather- please stop making delicious pancakes or i will have to chase you down to make me some!

  32. That’s right, you got me on a pumpkin kick with your photos! Well, this morning I made delicious pumpkin pancakes, topped with maple syrup, bananas and pecans. But I am posting all the pics tonight. Darn photos…make me drool!

BTW, I did see the angry bird. LOL.

  33. Kelly says:

Those pancakes might be one of the best looking things I’ve seen in a long time…. I want some!!

  35. LOL @ the angry banana, that’s kind of creepy! I wouldn’t have been able to eat them either. I really need to go find some Biscoff!
