Three “P” Thursday

Hello my loves!

I’m so glad you liked the recipe for the Salsa-fied Salmon Salad yesterday…and you guys had some awesome ideas for variations in the comment section! You’ve definitely got my wheels turning…be on the lookout for a spin-off recipe in the future! πŸ™‚

So, after a LONG and CA-razy week, I can finally say helloooooooo weekend!Β I swear this entire week at the hospital has just been a continuation of Friday the 13th…who knew it could be a weeklong “celebration”?

Once I get to the end of a week, I like to reflect and pick out the positives…no need to dwell on the negative…plus, I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying:

“It takes 37 muscles to frown but only 22 to smile”*

*According to several websites I clicked through just to copy/paste that phrase…the jury is still out on the exact number!Β Eh, some people use too many muscles to suck the fun out of everything…this one sounds good so let’s keep it! πŸ˜‰

Anywho, on to the positives!

Let’s start with a new hashtag I’ve discovered and started using:

1. #PROOF:

Gotta love accountability!

I’ve actually pried by butt out of bed EVERY day this week BEFORE 6am and made it to the gym for a workout. I’d like to think it was the thought of knowing I had the support of my fellow Tweeps and IGers, but I know for sure I would never have even made it out the front door without a little help from an old friend:

He may look old and wrinkly to you, but he packs a punch in the motivation department! πŸ˜‰

And speaking of packing a punch…

2. Pumped up Kicks Snacks:

Since I’ve been following Jamie Eason’s LiveFit training program, I have started to see a difference in what my body craves throughout the day and one thing is protein! I typically get enough protein in my diet as is, but I’ve started to turn to my protein powder more for post-workout or bedtime snacks.

A couple of my favorites:

More than just hot chocolate!

Why look to hot cocoa mixes that contain god-only-knows-what and a TON of sugar when you can get the SAME thing from chocolate protein powder?

Since the weather has been turning chilly after sundown, I’ve enjoyed a cup before bed for Β the last few weeks and have fallen in love!

And I have to say, I was pretty smitten until I dove into this tonight:

Pumpkin puree + chocolate protein powder = DELICIOUSNESS

And you know, sprinkles just make it even better! πŸ˜‰

3. PRETTIES

Let’s face it ladies, sometimes we just want something to make us feel pretty…well, I found a makeup duo that not only does just that, but it’s affordable and is really all you need to get through those hellacious days at work…school, or you know on a trip to the mailbox…

Maybelline’s Baby Lips lip balm and Rimmel’s ScandalEyes mascara!

I’ll tell you right now, I am Ahhhhh-dicted to chapstick…if I go more than an hour or so without it, my lips start to feel dry and cracked…so I’m always sure to keep one or two three or four in my purse, locker, car, breadbox, etc. Since I bought the Baby Lips, I haven’t let it out of my sight…I love the flavor (peach kiss), the color, and my lips feel oh so soft!

As for the mascara, I’m always experimenting with new brands to find ones that are anti-clumping and va-va-volumizing…because unfortunately, it’s not really acceptable to wear fake lashes on a daily basis…unless your a Las Vegas showgirl or Lady Gaga, but isn’t that almost the same thing? πŸ˜‰

Well, the proof is in the picture:

“I’m ready for my close up Mr. Deville”

Do you have any “P’s” to share from your week?

Who else out there would be lost without a tube of chapstick?

My P from my work week is PAYCHECK! I get paid tomorrow, woo hoo!
And I am a Carmex addict. I swear they add something to make your lips dependent on it! I have about 4 in my purse, 2 in vehicle, 1 in kitchen and 2 by my bed. But that oone you have looks good -I may try since I love lip balms/glosses! I may try the mascara too, I am always on the hunt for a good one!
    Have a great weekend!

Woo hoo! Money, money, money, monnnnnnnnnay! πŸ™‚

And I know what you mean about becoming dependent….I’ve actually heard that overuse of chapstick/lipbalm can cause your body to not produce as much moisture on it’s own (but of course I’m not sure if that’s true or not). I HAVE to put it on before bed or I’ll look like I’ve been drinking red Kool-aide in my sleep! Lol

  2. I have the peach baby lips as well. Soo good. Korres lip butters are awesome as well. Currently im obsessed with revlons new lip butter in pink truffle. Pretty color and your lips feel soft.

  3. Nice job with hauling your butt to the gym so early – you’re making me feel like a slacker! πŸ˜‰ I keep on meaning to go at 6 am, but I never actually make it there until 9 am or after my morning classes.

Yes! I’m a chapstick addict too. I’ve tried out so many different brands, but I always go back to Blistex because it just works so well!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ugh, if I had a choice, believe me, I’d be pulling those covers back over my head, but since I work until 7:30, there was absolutely NO WAY I was getting to the gym afterwards. Next week I’m working an earlier shift (8-4:30) though where I usually do workout after work, but I think I might try and see if I can keep up with the am workouts…it’s so nice to have it done and out of the way first thing in the morning!

  4. You look so pretty! I think I would die without chapstick or lipgloss with me all times!

  5. PB&Jenny says:

I love love love me some protein powder. Have you ever tried About Time? It’s my favorite! I love mixing chocolate powder with greek yogurt and a spoonful of coconut flour. trust me!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I’ve only tried two of their flavors…peach and cake batter…and I wasn’t that impressed. Maybe I should’ve just stuck with the “normal” ones like chocolate and vanilla?

  6. Uhhhh why have I never thought of putting protein powder in my coffee?! It’s like sugary deliciousness, but without the sugar… and with protein. hahaha

I’m still sipping my iced coffee that I picked up this morning with Brittany (from eatingbirdfood.com) and it’s sooo delicious!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

This was actually just in hot water, but I DID try it in coffee too…you just have to be careful with some protein powders…if you use a whey and the water is too hot, it ends up curdling! πŸ™

  7. pumpkin and protein powder! i need to doooo thatttt!

  8. Woo! Jealous that you’re at the gym that early. I should really do that. But I have to be at work at 8 and to fit in a workout I’d have to get up at 4:30. YUCK.

So my P for the week? PB&J. GF. Yesterday. High carb day on LiveFit so I took advantage. πŸ™‚ YUUUUmmmm.

    Have a great weekend!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yep, that’s gonna be me next week…if I can stick with it! My schedule rotates every 3 weeks and next week I go in at 8. I could always go after work, but the last week I did that I got so frustrated with how busy it was in the gym…I swear the entire city of Clarksville goes to the gym between 5 and 7pm!

Mmm, that’s my favorite kind of “P”! Yum!

  9. I’m curious about LiveFit but I’ve been hearing some reviews that people’s pants fit tighter… not looser. So I’m wary. What are your thoughts?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hmm, the first thing that comes to mind is that maybe people are seeing gains in muscle that would cause their clothes to fit tighter…especially if they are following the meal plan. I’m not really sticking to the meals she suggests because I like to mix things up and I think I might get bored with eating egg whites for breakfast everyday, but I am conscious of the way the plan is structured…a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat and to eat every 3-4 hours (of course I don’t even need to think about that, my stomach is a ticking clock, I ALWAYS know when it’s time to eat!)

Honestly, I started the program so I would have something to ween me back into working out after my back injury and because I want to put on lean muscle, but I noticed the other day that my waist has gotten a little smaller (talk about a nice surprise when I was putting on my jeans this morning! I didn’t see the difference until the other day since I usually only wear scrubs or yoga pants!)

All in all though, I think it’s a pretty good program and I would suggest it to just about anyone!

I’ve been thinking of doing a full review of phase one after I complete it next week, but if you have any other questions, just let me know!

  10. Kate says:

You are beautiful! Natural beauty for sure. πŸ™‚ I might have to buy that mascara and lip gloss.
