Sippin’ on a Soupie!

Happy Friday foodies!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s CURRENT events, I’ve recently become obsessed with something I’ve coined a “soupie”…

Smoothie + Soup = Soupie!

Ya see, I don’t know about you guys, but just because it’s no longer 90+ degrees outside, doesn’t me I don’t still get cravings for thick and creamy smoothies. The only problem? It’s no longer 90+ degrees outside and I have to be sure I’m wearing my fluffy socks and a fleece hoodie every time the craving hits.

Solution: Make a smoothie and HEAT IT UP!

Spinach Banana Soupie - 1

So I have no idea if I’m the first person to ever think of this, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t patting myself on the back for this latest stroke of genius!

  1. Gah!!!! Pass me that beet soupie! Extra sprinkles.

I always wake up cold so this is just the thing I need to warm be up and pack in my protein… ’cause eggs get old and they are packed with sodium. Argh. (Back on the diet, can you tell? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

Moral of the story: I bow to your smoothie-ish #strangebutgood genius. And I heart you. The end.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Boo eggs…BOO! You know, if the ricotta is still a bit too much sodium, you could always sub in silken tofu…ha, and then it would be vegan…not that that really matters to you Miss eat a whole chicken in a week! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I heart you more! Hope have fun during your trip this weekend…I mean I know it’s for work, but c’mon, it’s FLORIDA!! #imissthebeach

o.m.g this just blew my mind. I never would have heated up a smoothie but in about 6 months time I’m totally giving it a shot! I would do it now but’s it’s currently 40 degrees in Australia and the hottest thing I want to get close to is a life guard ๐Ÿ˜‰

P.S I frickin love your blog.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, well I don’t blame ya there! Just do me a favor and think of me the next time you’re at the beach…while I’m sitting under my electric blanket cuddled up with my soupie JUST in an effort to stay warm! ๐Ÿ˜‰

PS, you are TOO sweet! xoxo

  3. These both sound so good, Heather. This is my kind of snack because I’ve always said that something warm would make me feel more satisfied than something cold. Always tried to convince my WW members of that. I like this idea…such a smartie!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thank you so much Fran! There really is something to be said about a bowl of warm comforting food…always more satisfying to me too!

  4. So much colour! What a neat idea.

  5. I love that beet/strawberry/banana one! Beets are so amazing in smoothies. I can’t say I’ve ever had a soupie though.

This weekend I’m going to a Food and Wine show with friends and meeting up with Sam (from Better with Sprinkles) for sushi! ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. I’m intrigued… must try. I want the strawberry banana beet one! It’s so pretty. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I made soupies this summer! [I’m not saying that to knock you down. Should I have said that? You’ve totally outdone me on inventiveness and creativity with them.] They were predominantly fruit-based, though, so I like the idea of veggies and added creaminess. You’ve definitely taken this to the next level. ๐Ÿ™‚

Pass me both, please. But can we make them vegan?

  8. I’ve never heard of these soupies, but I have heard both your songs before, and now they are stuck in my head, especially barbie girl, which I should definitely not like, but for some reason I love. And I love it so much, I played it at a spinning class once.

  9. Your soupies look awesome. I have been missing smoothies lately but they make me so cold in the winter! I love the soupie idea! Now, I have the Barbie Girl song in my head. GAH! Why is that the catchiest stick-in-your-head for days song! This weather is so weird – I am praying the sun will come out eventually!

  10. purelytwins says:

soupies look amazing, especially the beet one. we love our beets!

  11. Lucie says:

This is the first time I EVER heard of a Soupie and you’ve totally blown my mind!! True. Really girl, where in your head is all this genius stuff stored? I must have been hanging on the ladies or babbling around when God gave it to humans….and I love the sprinkles (and the Barbiesong too) so pretty!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hahaha! Oh Lucie, I always look forward to reading your comments…you are REALLY good for my ego girle…I think I may keep you around! ๐Ÿ˜‰ xoxo

  12. You genius, genius girl!! I only make smoothies on the hottest day in July because I am cold all the time, but these look amazing!

  13. I love that you warmed your smoothie – too funny girl! I usually just leave the ice out in the winter and that works for me, but I might have to try your microwave trick. ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Jessie says:

Seeing that I drink a smoothie every.single.day.. I really must give this soupie idea a try!!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I TOTALLY thought of you as I was making this…especially the pink one since you’re like my little Barbie blogger! ๐Ÿ˜‰ xoxox

  15. OOOOH MY GOODNESS!! Such a good idea, Heather! You never fail to impress me! Never stop blogging. Ever. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

  16. wow yea, never heard of this, but I think it probably would taste delicious!

  17. Soupppiee! Haha, I love the colors! So bright ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, I nominated you for the Liebster Award on my blog. And asked some questions I’d love to get to know you more ๐Ÿ™‚ http://wp.me/p2CS81-Uh

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thanks girlie! I was JUST thinking today how I’ve YET to respond to all the nominations I’ve gotten over the last couple of months! I promise to do it soon!

  19. I like to think that I am adventurous with the eating but soupies… maybe its because we are still trying to get survive the summer here. Maybe a soupie will be more appetizing in winter?
    xo Emily @ Hungry Delights

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah, I can totally see how a big bowl of something warm might not sound too appetizing right now…just keep those adventurous (and curious) tastebuds around for the fall…it’s so good…and SO comforting! ๐Ÿ™‚
