Ten Years and STILL Marvelous!

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend! Most of mine was pretty low key with the exception of Saturday. Hours after my happy dance that afternoon once the blog decided to come out of her week-long coma, I was dancing the night away with my two besties at our high school reunion!

High School

It’s hard to believe it’s already been TEN years! 😯

Reunion

Β But here we are now, all “grown up”!

Being that my graduating class was only made up of about 100 or so people, I thought the turn out was pretty decent. Luckily, the three of us (with our respective men) showed up at the same time…you know because it’s not like we hadn’t been texting each other pictures of outfits to wear and coordinating things beforehand or anything! πŸ˜‰

Besties

I have been through thick and thin with these girls…love them to pieces!!

We started out the night out right with squealing and jumping into each other’s arms, taking a BAZILLION pictures and then heading off to the OPEN bar…

IMG_6065For some cheap red wine! πŸ˜‰

Dinner was served shortly after and was a buffet style meal…

IMG_6062I got a little bit of everything: salad, carrots, mystery chalk-like veggies potatoes, green beans, a slab of rubber chicken, and a dinner sponge roll. I have to say, the place did a fantastic job bringing back the memories…tasted JUST like something from our school cafeteria! It’s just too bad they didn’t think to serve my favorite, pizza and French fries! πŸ˜†

Dessert was a bit more tasteFULL…

IMG_6064Β The man-friend and I shared a sample plate: vanilla cupcake, cheesecake, blueberry muffin, banana bread with cream cheese, a chess square, and a brownie.

Most everything was a bit too sweet for my tastes, but surprisingly the chess square was decent and I was all OVER that muffin…I “let” the man-friend finish the rest! πŸ˜‰

After dinner, the one-man-band arrived and started playing tunes from the wrong decade entirely…but hey, you can’t knock a guy who has an appreciation for Bon Jovi…especially after a couple more glasses of wine…and so the singing/dancing/shit-ton of picture-taking began…

And my girl even got up and sang a duet with Mr. Bon Jovi Jr! πŸ˜‰

Cheeeeeeeese!!

At the end of the night, I may have had a bit too much to drink, and nursed a baby hangover the next morning (can’t even REMEMBER the last time I did that!), but you know what? I had a GREAT night and would do it again (rubber chicken and ALL) in a heart beat!

MIMM

Just makes me wonder how much moreΒ MARVELOUS we’ll all be in another ten years! But, ummm…I think I can wait for that! πŸ˜‰

Will you/did you go to your high school reunion?

What was your favorite thing from the school cafeteria when you were growing up?

  1. Aaaah that sounds like so much FUN!!! And I LOVE your huge smile on all those pics!
We did not have a cafeteria at school, cause all the students were supposed to go home for lunch – yeah, we lived in that tiny town.
    Happy Monday Beauty!!

  2. Jessie says:

Everything about your evening sounds like an absolute blast! I love that your friend jumped on stage with Mr. Bon Jovi!

Favorite lunch: The turkey & cheese wraps with an orange. So good!

  3. This was my sister’s 10 year high school reunion too. She didn’t end up going and had several friend’s who didn’t either. I just can’t believer that much time has gone by and that mine is in 2 years!

  4. Lindsay says:

so fun! you are way marvelous and age like a fine wine! Mmm.. wine. <3

  5. It sounds like you had a fantastic evening, other than the sketchy high school type food. Isn’t it great to get to visit with old friends πŸ™‚

  6. Fun photos! I can’t wait for my high school reunion…I think it’s a good reminder of where you’ve come from. Ugh, that food doesn’t look ideal but seems like you could laugh at it:) Happy MIMM!

  7. Sounds like you had an amazing night! I don’t know if my high school really does reunions – my graduating class was about the same size as yours. Part of me thinks it would be really awkward, because I’m pretty sure there’s only one or two people in my graduating class that I still talk to…and definitely more than one that I hope I never have to see again! :-p

  8. How fun! Looks like a blast and love the one man band! Ha!

  9. A have a few good years before my ten year reunion, but yours looks like it was FABULOUS. As always, you are glowing and gorgeous. But, um… When do we get a picture of the man friend?!?!?!?! In my head, I picture him looking like Gerard Butler.

    You’re welcome.

  10. Kat says:

This is amazing!! Im actually really looking forward to my 10 year reunion, although Im pretty sure its going to scare the crap out of me when it gets here (like woah, 10 years already?!) Although I don’t think there will be too many surprises seeing as how I follow most of them on facebook, but still, it’ll be nice to see everyone!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

That’s how it was for me too…pretty much all the regular facebookers were present that night…helped take the “Um, WHAT was her name?!” awkwardness away! Lol

  11. Glad you enjoyed your HS reunion! Looks like it was fun! I have never gone to any of my reunions, and I just past my 15 year (eep!).

  12. Awe!! I’m so glad you had fun! Despite the crappy food. Haha.
I’m not sure I’ll go to mine. I left high school a year early and our hs was only 10-12 grades anyways, so I spent a whopping 2 years there…I don’t think anybody even knows who I am! Maybe I’ll just meet up with my bestie and do dinner…and then we’ll go do something really fun on our own πŸ™‚

  13. What a fun night! You can never go wrong with some good Bon Jovi tunes haha. πŸ˜‰ I definitely think I’m going to go to mine, just out of sheer curiosity about what everyone is doing with their lives. My favourite thing from our cafeteria was definitely the McCain’s hashbrowns in the mornings! Mmm greasy potato patties.

  14. Is it weird that I only graduated from high school a little over a year ago and I’m already looking forward to my first high school reunion? I just love catching up with my friends and classmates, and although I wasn’t much of a social butterfly in school, there are just so many memories that we all share.

The dessert table looks like it was a gazillion times better than the main course. I never want to eat school food again (not because of taste but now that I know what’s in it…) Especially not the school’s pizza!

  15. That looks like so much fun!!! My reunion failed on the refreshments – no open bar and only a tray of cold Chick-fil-a. I would have preferred the old school pizza and fries. (Still can’t believe I ate that almost every day…).

    You look gorgeous!!!

  16. Haha awww cute pics! (Also I want the desserts. Gimme.)

  17. It sounds like you had a blast and you look hot! I love evenings when you get to (sing and) dance the night away.
I’d have to say my favorite thing in high school was probably those horrible pizza rolls, which were all grease and some kind of weird cheese like substance. I’d eat them all the time.

  18. calee says:

I just read another post from another friend about a high school reunion (she’s insertcleverlinkhere.com if you’re interested). It was pretty much the opposite of this.

All of the people I would want to see I either currently see, or are too far away to come (or don’t want to come either), or have since died. So I don’t bother. I figure I’ll go to the 15 because I’ll probably still be childless and have a rock-star job (and husband), while the Regina George of our class is probably going to be on kid number six with husband number three.

Small towns are a bit different than bigger cities I think. I was in a class of 80ish and everybody knew (knows) everybody else’s shit. A lot of people still live in town and hang out on the weekends. I still suffer some emotional trauma from the evil bitches and dicks I had to deal with all that time ago, but they can do a lot of damage when you’re stuck in a room with them for most of your week from the time you’re 6 until you’re 18. It’s taken me years to work through some of that shit, and I’m not going to go back until I’m able to shove it all in their stupid faces (or maybe until I have a better attitude about it because I seriously sound like a 12-year-old right now).

    • calee says:

PS I planned both our 5- and 10-year reunion, and didn’t bother to show up. haha. If I didn’t get the invite after planning it, it wouldn’t have surprised me.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh wow! I actually had it a little easier since I only moved to my “hometown” when I was in eighth grade…of course back then, changing schools at that time was like the WORST thing that could happen in my entire life! Lol

I say definitely go to the 15 and totally flaunt your childless rockstar life in front of them all! πŸ˜‰

  19. I’m so impressed you actually went to your 10 year reunion. I think that’s the difference between a big school & a small school, which is awesome!! Look like you had a blast! πŸ™‚

  20. Julie says:

Sounds like a good time. I’m still undecided on going to my 10 year reunion.

  21. Lisa says:

I shared that same little tiny hangover this weekend;) it was awful haha.
Looks like SO much fun! It makes me kind of excited for my high school reunion!
It must be so cool to see everyone from high school once again after all that time.
    Love the dress on!

  22. Looks like a nice turnout! I have my 10-year next year, but I wonder how many people will actually go.

  23. Robyn :) says:

I did not go to my reunions. I did not even know they had a 10th and the 20th was $100!!!

Our school made awesome bean burritos!!! I like to get one in the morning for breakfast lol

  24. What a blast! Crazy enough, my favorite meal was French fries dipped in frito pie…. oh my!

  25. Lisa says:

sounds like it was so much fun! I absolutely love your dress! πŸ™‚

  26. We were supposed to have ours already, but nothing is planned as of yet! lol I only graduated with 100 people too, so it is sure to be interesting. However, I probably won’t go… I’m bad aren’t I??
You are gorgeous by the way!

  27. That looks like such a blast! I have my reunion coming up next year, and I reckon it’ll be the awkward ‘where are you working now’ ‘remember this’ and also a glimpse into whos married/engaged/broken up lol. Although my graduating class was over 350 students…

Favourite cafeteria food would have had to be the hashbrowns- they would have them for morning tea and they’d be gone within seconds!

  28. Lee says:

My 10 year reunion was at a bar. But not an open bar. Boo.

We actually could leave for lunch in high school and there was a shopping center with a grocery store literally right next door to my school. This might be where my love of grocery shopping came from. That was a long winded way of saying I never ate in the cafeteria.

  29. This year would have marked my 10 year too! I haven’t heard of any reunion!

  30. katie says:

So fun! I didn’t go to my ten year reunion! I really am not friends with anyone from high school, so I wasn’t really wanting to go, haha! I was pregnant in high school, so high school was different for me.

I am glad you had a fun time! <3

  31. I didn’t go to my high school reunion…I’m pretty sure one happened, and that it was over Thanksgiving, when I was eating MUCH better food with my family. πŸ˜‰

I’m glad you asked about favorite school cafeteria foods, because as soon as you mentiond it I had flashbacks to greasy, spicy curly fries and the strawberry shortcake Good Humor ice cream bars.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, HOW could I forget about the curly fries?!!? And while I can definitely appreciate a shortcake bar now, back in the day, it was ALL about the Nutty Buddy…and biting the end off the bottom…my version of an ice cream keg stand! Lol
