Sweet, Savory, and #StrangeButGood!

Omg, happy Friday! Wow, so I’ve seriously been cursing the heavens trying to get this post up since last night! I spent most of the day yesterday on the phone with the cable company in an attempt to get a minor internet connection issue resolved…much to my dismay, after THREE HOURS, I was told someone would have to come out today and take a look. Luckily, in my four-hour window (gah, how I hate that), he came sooner rather than later! And?

Well, three CHEERS for the internet fixy man and one WTF-I-HATE-YOU for the city who decided it would be a good idea to sever my cable while digging around the water lines the other day!

Ok, so now that THAT’S settled (and I’ve had my brief little b!tch moment), let’s FINALLY get on to the strange BUT good action!

Strange But Good S2TT

It seems I’ve been having a quite the summer romance with basil. I mean, first there was Berry Bruschetta, then there was the herb-spiked grilled cheese, and of course this week’s Peach, Raspberry & Basil shenanigans. It seemed only natural for my little herb-crush to turn a little more serious SALACIOUS! 😉

Nectarine Blueberry & Basil Salad

What started out as a moment of sweet and savory FOREPLAY

Nectarine Blueberry Tomato & Basi Salad

Quickly transformed into an all out MOUTHGASM!

I’ll have you all know I’m resisting the urge to comment more on the fact that those happen to be CHERRY tomatoes! 😉

Nectarine Blueberry Tomato & Basil Salad 1

Mouthgasm: (noun) The physical and emotional sensation experienced during peak flavor sensation, usually resulting from stimulation by eating something wonderful, and usually accompanied by a moan of pleasure.

Thank you Urban Dictionary for that little bit of enlightenment…oh and for helping me understand what the heck twerking finally is! 😀

drizzled this baby with my favorite balsamic dressing using blueberry jam, then added another level of sensation with my latest obsessions, nutty, crunchy hemp seeds!

And well?

Let’s just say after I finished taking about 37562 pictures of it (give or take a few), that bowl and I did a little more than spoon. 😉

Now do me a favor and go make this salad…twerking may be optional (because that shit is dangerous!), but the moaning and fanning yourself, as you will see, is NOT! 😉

What is your favorite fresh herb?

What’s the last thing you tasted that was utterly mouthgasmic?

  1. I feel so enlightened after reading the definition… LOL!!! I want to eat this salad and mouthgasm shamelessly. Instead I just grabbed a cafeteria salad bar thing at work. *sigh*

  2. Purelytwins says:

love all the colors and textures going on in this salad!

  3. Ahh woman, you practically make me want to lick the computer screen!!

  4. So much colour! I love fruit in savoury salads.

  5. This looks so amazing – all that color is making me hungry! 🙂

  6. And I’m drooling. Or having a mouthgasm. or something. Must have been those CHERRY tomatoes. Salacious indeed.

  7. I have no idea how you take pictures of your meals…. They’re so gorgeous I would devour them immediately after making them 😛

  8. That’s so annoying about your internet! I hate when mine randomly goes down for long periods of time!

I think either basil or cilantro is my favourite fresh herb. No wait, parsley. Ahh I can’t choose. Fresh herbs are one of my favourite things about summer. I don’t use them as much in the winters because it’s so much harder to convince myself to spend $2 on a bunch of herbs when in the summers I just get them out of my garden for free. 😛

Ok, so I’m totally pouting now…I ALWAYS have to spend $2 on a bunch! But I really want to see about making a pot garden (not THAT kind of pot!) because I am seriously going through basil like a madwoman!

  9. This looks and sounds amazing!!! Although, I feel like I got abit of a lesson in the birds and the bees. Who knew not only animals could be used as props but now salad. Fantastic 😉

  10. I love sweet and savory salads! I especially love sprinkling hemp seeds on my salads. So good!

  11. You are insanely hilarious and this looks insanely amazing:) I hate internet issues ! In today’s world, they really need to get on the ball about getting better for their services. The four hour window thing has always pi**ed me off too!

  12. This looks so fresh and delicious!! I love coriander which you guys call cilantro 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

When I first read your comment, I was like, “huh? I didn’t use coriander!” Haha! We only use that term for the dried stuff…which I really want to start experimenting more with! 🙂

  13. I love it! So colorful!!! 🙂 Looks soo good!

  14. You are too funny!! I love how you always come up with these creative little tales. 🙂 That salad does look pretty freaking amazing though, yum (minus the tomatoes)! 😉

  15. Amie says:

Hahahaha omg I love the word mouthgasm. It just so perfectly describes food that is far beyond amazing. We need to start a Mouthgasm Mondays link up or something hahaha.

  16. Girl, I love you for sexualizing your salads (and basically everything else). Were we separated at birth?

  17. Jenny Brown says:

I love this recipe, post, pictures, EVERYTHING! I too am gaga for basil right now. You are so in my head! Great everything.
