Week In Review: Cleveland Shenangians

Happy Monday, punkins!

Wow-wee do you guys know how to make a girl feel good! I had a feeling yesterday’s pancakes would get a warm welcome, but I was totally BLOWN AWAY by all the comments AND Instagram posts of all the people whipping up their own Peanut Butter Pumpkin ‘cakes…I only hope they were singing my song while waiting to flip! 😉

But before there were pancakes, before there was a weekend, there was a week. A week with this wonderful woman…

Meghan & Me

You guys know Meghan, right?

If not, you need to do yourself a favor and hop on over to Clean Eats Fast Feets and remedy that ASAP! I’ve been reading Meg’s blog for over a year now and while I can’t remember exactly how I found her, I DO know why I keep coming back…with her sneaky sense of humor, her sailor mouth, and her undying love of all things cheese, she’s basically ME…only shorter, blonder, and really good at math! 😉

The man-friend had some work to do in Cleveland for a few days last week, so Meg and I made plans to hang out while he was busy and this is how it all went down…

Mimosas

Morning mimosa!

Eggs & Potatoes

Breakfast ala Meghan

Perfectly fried egg with a side of fresh strawberries, parmesan potatoes and sundried tomato bread from…

The Breadsmith

Carboholics Anonymous

Aka The Breadsmith where I nabbed myself a loaf of the famous Granola Bread!

Angelo's Pizza

Pizza Date!

And a #strangebutgood menu item: BBQ chicken pizza with pineapple, banana peppers, and wait for it….CINNAMON! As soon as I spotted it, I knew it had to be mine and it was so good!

Public Banaba#publicbanana

Obviously, it was a bit awkward…that first time usually is though! 😉

West Side Market 1

Foodie Heaven…

West Side Market 2

Aka West Side Market

Seriously one of the biggest farmers’ markets I’ve ever seen! It reminded me a lot of the Soulard Farmers’ Market I visited in St. Louis!

Burrata

Fun find

Blueberry Grilled Cheese

Mouthgasm

I finally got my blueberry grilled cheese…and it only took MONTHS of begging! 😉

Cleveland Skyline

Skyline

Cleveland Lake

Walk by the lake

Pancakes & Mimosa

Morning mimosa take TWO!

Orange Coconut Pancakes

Breakfast ala ME!

Recipe coming as soon after I tweak the ingredients just a bit, but I will say they are…

Max & Pancake

Food thievable! 😉

Sadly, our time together was cut a bit short once the man-friend found out he had to be back for work in Tennessee a day earlier than planned, but we made the most out of it! There were lots of laughs, long talks, mini blogging 101 sessions, kitchen dance parties, and of course…

Me & Meghan

All around shenanigans!

Arman, that bottom left pic was just for you! 😉

So do me a favor and go see my girl! And if you can’t manage to find a car, plane, boat, or purple unicycle to get all the way to the Great Lakes, how about just hopping on over and checking out her weekly link up?

Week-In-Review-Button

Or even better, JOIN in on the fun! 😀

Awww, aren’t girls dates just the best? I love that you had Mimosa for breakfast. And that cat eating the pancake?? LOL!!!!
You guys look sos cute together and I am always jealous on any blogger meet ups!
My most exciting thing from the weekend were 7 rollercoasters with my working colleagues! I SWEAR I was 150% sure that I died and heaven looks like a funpark!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

SEVEN roller coasters?! Oh my gosh, how fun! I haven’t been to an amusement park in YEARS! The man-friend and I were planning on going this summer, but with all the trouble I’ve had with my knee, I wasn’t sure about walking around all day. Guess I’ll just have to live vicariously through you! 😉

  2. awwww so cute! and omg!? i totally want to recreate that pizza! how awesome! WOW 😀 sounds so so so good 😀 visiting friends is always so much fun! thanks for sharing! i would love to come visit you

  3. Ohhh you and that banana got dirrrty with it. Were you in the back of a movie theater? Sexay ;).

Girl dates are always the best, especially when those girls are blog friends. Especially when those female blog friends share mimosas with you. ESPECIALLY when those mimosa-sharing female blog friends partake in hilarious photo shoots. Love.

  4. haha omg I love these pics. Especially the public banana ones. Too funny!

  5. Brittany says:

HAHA I just DIEEEDD at the comment about your public banana- the first time usually being awkward..ohh I die. So glad you girls had a blast, shenanigans are the best!!

  6. Julia says:

Your weekend shenanigans had me cracking up. Nice to meet Meghan – I’m gonna go check out her blog! And perhaps get a little banana action going in the process…. 😉

  7. Glad that you guys had such a good weekend together! And oh goodness, the public banana :-p

  8. Your first time doesn’t look too awkward to me! 😉

I vote we fly Meghan to ATL. I’m jealous and want to eat public bananas, pancakes (BBQ!), and drink champagne with you guys!!!

    • I like your vote. I’ve never been to the ATL.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

After November 16th that is! 😉 And yeah, after suffering through an eight-hour car ride, I’ve decided the only way I’ll see Meghan again is if a plane is involved! #imaprincess #owmyass

PS, give me a couple of weeks and I will have some pancakes for you…on a FRIDAY! 😉

      • I still can’t even believe you drove eight hours here. I think my three hour trip to Buffalo is long. #definitelyaprincess.

November through February is hellish for me for work. I wish it wasn’t that long, but my Spring is looking good. 🙂

        • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, seriously? If the man-friend wasn’t driving, it wouldn’t have happened at all! 😯 At least on the way back, I had pizza as an incentive! We stopped at a place we saw on the Food Network and it was sooooo good!

I was thinking it would probably be hard for you to swing any time soon…plus, if this is to be your first time in ATL, I think it would be better to go when it’s not FREEZING YOUR BALLS OFF cold outside! Sorry Laura, but my bones hurt just thinking of coming down again in the winter! 😛

  9. Cinnamon on pizza?? That actually sounds totally genius!!

  10. Oh my gosh you girls are TOO CUTE! What a fun time! I love hanging out with other bloggers, especially because they are totally ok with massive amounts of picture taking 😉

  11. Sounds like such a fun week!! Love your pancake thief as always 🙂

Can’t wait for your new pumpkin recipe. You’ve definitely made me want carbs for breakfast now.

I last travelled for work to Canberra which is Australia’s capital but its really not that an exciting place to go! This weekend the boyfriend and I are going to Sydney for a much needed mini break where there will be lots of eating involved .

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah! I forgot you were taking a holiday from work! I hope you and the boy are having a great time! And believe it or not…I didn’t try to persuade Meghan with any pumpkin last week…just another ingredient of the orange variety! 🙂

  12. Cailee says:

YUM! Everything looks so tasty! That bread shop looks AMAZING! Seriously wishin I wasn’t gluten intolerant right about now! Haha, looks like a fun time 🙂

  13. Hey Meghan! I’m currently sitting in the Cleveland airport (on route to Toronto). Wanna come hang out??? That grilled cheese is some serious mouthgasm!

  14. Something is clearly wrong with this. Two of my favourite bloggers in one place and me not able to join them ;)? Okay, admittedly, I only found Meghan’s blog through yours a few months ago but have been following her shenanigans, eh, reading her blog ever since. How could I not with her being another [aside from you] fellow word and language fiend, hilarious and altogether awesome attorney [can’t help the alliterations] of all carbs ;)? Fiiine, I’ll stop the gushing. But just make sure for your next trip to lead you to Germany, the country for all fans of bread [rmember my promise of locally made whole wheat loaves?]. And by ‘you’ I mean both Megan and you as well as the man-friend. You could always convince him by saying you need his services as a personal translator :).
Anyway, I’m glad you had an all-around great time at Meghan’s!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I like the way you think, MP! And omg, can you imagine the shenanigans the three of us alliterative carb-lovin’ fools would have?! I can already see the man-friend shaking his head! Lol

  15. It looks like you had a fun weekend 🙂 this weekend I went to an apple orchard/pumpkin farm. I loved getting to pick my own apples.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ahhh, so jealous! I really want to find an apple farm around here…I’ve never been apple picking before but it’s totally on my bucket list!

  16. i’m kinda disappointed at how G rated this blog post was…but I forgive you both because it looks like such a blast!!!! I’m so glad I stumbled on Megan’s blog too- It made me giggle like a little girl in my lectures.

the last time I travelled was to Japan in December- so beautiful, so cold, so full of maids in funny outfits.

    Baby got BACK.

  17. This is a fabulous Week In Review and not just because it involved shenanigans with me, although that always helps. I’d say you managed to capture our week perfectly. Now if only we could do it again….like this week for example. I’m ready for round two. 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

You and me BOTH!! I’d much rather prefer to be galavanting across the city with you to tossing and turning in my bed all day and zombie-walking at night! Ha!

  18. Looks like you two had so much fun! And mimosas with breakfast? I like your style. 😉

The most exciting thing about my weekend was visiting the Evergreen Brick Works market in Toronto. It was the best farmers’ market I’ve ever been to!

  19. Cassie says:

I traveled to Columbus last weekend to run a half-marathon with my friend Angela… she really inspired me to start my blog, so I appreciate how fun it is to have another blogger friend to talk blogging with!! xo

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh wow! Congratulations on the half AND on starting your blog! I’ve never run a race before, but I’m pretty sure a bottle of wine would be good motivation! Lol

  20. The last road trip I took was out west to Vancouver, buuuuuuut I should have made a detour to Cleveland on my way back! I mean, cinnamon on pizza? I’d -kill- to taste something like that 😛

Jokes, jokes. It would have been amazing to hang with you two lovely ladies, first time awkwardness and all. But promise to be gentle?

  21. Emily says:

Girl’s dates are the best EVER. Sometimes they’re exactly what we all need.
    And um, I’m sorry…sun-dried tomato bread? I die. #givemeallthecarbs

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Right?! It was so hard not to go to the breadstore and buy one of everything! I was so bummed they weren’t selling the tomato bread the day we went, but the granola bread is absolutely amazing…there’s all kinds of crunchy nuts spread throughout it! 🙂

  22. So fun you got to hang out with Meghan! Looks like you guys had a blast! Lots of yummy food pics as usual! Granola bread!?! Sounds heavenly!

  23. calee says:

need to read meghan’s blog! you guys look like you had a great time. 🙂

  24. Sarah Pie says:

Love all the mimosas and other foodgasams you two got up to 🙂 And I have to say you look like a natural with your public banana! Can’t wait to see the pancake recipe that was good enough for the cat to snag.

  25. You guys are too cute! xoxo
