Marvelously MY Way!

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend! Unlike last weekend, the weather here was fantastic (I’m talking break out the shorts kind of weather!) so I made sure to make the most of it…and actually, it didn’t occur to me until just now but I hardly even opened my computer at all this weekend! Nope, I was too busy doing things like…

Coffee LoveHaving a moment with my FIRST CUP OF COFFEE IN OVER A MONTH!

Yup, you read that right, folks! I’m at the height of my rebellion! I love my therapist…really, he’s a great guy and I think he has an amazing perspective on things…but coffee is NOT one of them! I swear just knowing that I “can” have it now has made all the difference…I didn’t even finish the cup I made yesterday!

PB&J Smoothie & Coffee

Keeping meals simple yet satisfying!

Nature Pics from the Trails

Walking new-to-me trails with a friend!

Can we pause for a minute to admire the bike on a stick? I mean, I’ve heard of a jalapeno on a stick, but a BIKE?! I guess it’s art??

Me & Sherri

Hanging with the bestie!

Party Spread

Pigging out on party foods!

Just FYI: that Hershey’s chocolate spread? Daaaaaangerous! 😯 Also, I have rediscovered my love for cinnamon raisin bagels…especially when they have Panera Bread’s hazelnut cream cheese on top!

Flowers

Going back to the trails and snapping a TON of pics!

I didn’t take my camera with me the first time, but I made sure to get a few shots of all the pretty flowers and bridges when I went back!

Me & Cheryl

Hanging with the other bestie!

Oh and we totally drove to the trails in her convertible with the top down! Hoooorah!

Snake

Embracing nature’s critters!

Now before you guys freak out on me, the picture makes him look really big, but he couldn’t have been longer than a foot…only a baby…and it’s just a water snake! C’mon, ain’t he cute?!

Veggie Tacos

Keeping meals simple yet satisfying!

Oh wait, did I already say that? Seriously you guys, this weekend was NOT the weekend to be holed up in the house worrying about meal prep…or anything for that matter! It was the weekend to get out and live…and live I DID!

Other (pictureless) things that made my weekend: Yoga, yoga, and more yoga πŸ˜‰ , a blend-erific INTERNATIONAL phone date, a trip to our local pub/brewery, spending the night at my parent’s house, a bubble bath with a side of wine, couch time with Game of Thrones, and sleeping like a FREAKING baby!

All in all I’d say this weekend was absolutely, positively EVERYTHING I could have wished for!Β

What did YOU do this weekend?

  1. aw i am so happy for you πŸ™‚ i walked some trails this weekend too πŸ™‚ that’s a part of my mimm post too <3

  2. I danced on a table this weekend and snapchatted it to an obscene number of people…at least I got some fitness in…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Um, excuse me….WHY was I not included on this?! And I have to say I’m a little jealous of your spontaneous cardio! πŸ˜‰

  3. First coffee in a month?! Oh dear…I’m not sure I’d make it!

  4. Julie says:

Your faces are adorable! πŸ™‚ Nothing beats a PB&J.

  5. I got a mid-afternoon buzz on after hot yoga followed by purchasing plane tickets…

  6. Elise says:

How did you work on your insomnia?? I’ve been having sleep problems for the last few months…I’d love any tips! Thank you!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Honestly, it comes in waves. I’ve tried everything under the sun…sleepy teas, lavender oil, hot baths, music, herbal meds, not so herbal meds…I swear I’m immune to them all! Haha! I’m pretty much taking Benedryl on a daily basis now…sometimes it works, most times not, but evvvvvvvery now and then though I get a little reprieve…and it’s absolute heaven! πŸ™‚ I did pick up something at the pharmacy a few months ago that seems to help me sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night (or day in my case since I work the night shift). It’s called Mid-Nite. It’s an all natural supplement that dissolves on your tongue. (http://midnitesleep.com/midnite-products/midnite/) So far, it’s the only thing that has worked for me since my body got used to the Sleep Strips (http://www.sheetsbrand.com/sleep) I was using this summer. I could literally go on and on for days on other things…I’ve read just about every article out there and I’ve even dabbled a bit in hypnotism with my therapist…but yeah, that didn’t really work. Let me know if you have any other questions though, I’d be happy to help in any way that I can! πŸ™‚

  7. Ooooookay kind of freaking out over here. Me and snakes are NOT friends. I’ve made my peace with spiders, but I’m pretty sure I’ll never be comfortable around snakes. I had a friend who kept a boa as a pet, and he’d let the thing “roam around” his place as if he were a cat. Well, he had a habit of curling up on a warm patch on the couch and hissing at anyone who came too close. Nope. Never. Doom on all snakes πŸ˜† Coffee, on the other hand? Adore.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! You’re hilarious! It’s the spiders that kill me…damn things are too tiny to keep track of! *shudders at the thought* 😯

  8. You deserve to have a perfect weekend, so I’m happy that it happened for you! My family had Easter a week early and we had a surprise party to go to, so it was a busy one.
And I’m ok with snakes…but if that was a spider, then all bets would have been off πŸ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thanks girlie! Though I’m still coveting your Easter spread…that turkey would have been the perfect addition to my cinnamon raisin bagel! Yep, I just went there! Gotta love some sweet and savory! Lol And I’m the SAME way…snakes I can handle…spiders are a WHOLE ‘nother story! 😯

  9. Look at all of those carby snack foods!! That looks like heaven πŸ™‚

  10. Your weekend looks pretty damn marvelous to me too, especially the pretty flowers, the hiking trails (sans snake) and that party food spread. I love, love, love, that you got some sleep too. I’m guessing all the marvelous had something to do with it.

My weekend was wonderful too filled with outdoor running, in shorts no less, pretty flowers, and yard work which makes me super happy. It was a balmy seventy degrees and I soaked up as much sunshine as possible and also slept like a baby on Saturday night. Oh and I finally managed to do my taxes. Two days ahead of schedule. Snap!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I saw that when I was getting caught up with your bloggy yesterday…procrastinators UNITE! *enter fist bump emoji here* πŸ˜‰

I’m soooo glad you guys are finally getting some decent weather up there! I was starting to think I was gonna have to come up there and kidnap you…though that still may be a possibility! πŸ˜‰

  11. KAT says:

I cleaned dog vomit all weekend and chased around a 1 year old. But I also mastered the homemade latte, so I’m not really going to complain much πŸ˜‰
P.S. you make me want to get my nose pierced, but I know there’s no way I’ll end up rocking it as cute as you do!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh please! Girl, you would look HAWT with a stud in your cute little nose! Seriously…one of these days I’ll convince you! Or maybe I’ll just have to fly over to California and make you do it! πŸ˜‰

Umm, sounds like an innnnnnnteresting weekend to say the least! Lol

  12. Cinnamon Raisin Bagels…..I think I need to get my hands on baking them, as there are NONE around here to buy!
LOVE to see your gorgeous smile in the sun….we were blessed with the same glorious sunshine and it makes my heart jump!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh man!! If you find a good recipe, you’ve GOT to pass it along! I would LOVE to make some of my own!

So glad to hear you’ve been frolicking in the sunshine too, love! It’s so good for the soul! xoxo

  13. Looks amazing.
    The trails are beautiful.
I played MOH at a bachelorette thingy.

  14. Lisa says:

That trail is beautiful! I love walking around my city, it’s so pretty this time of year!
Sounds like a pretty swell weekend, especially since it contained everything you could have wished for:) Those are the best ones.
My weekend contained a complete mix of relaxation and craziness. I kind of like it like that.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hey, sometimes you gotta have a little crazy to help you appreciate the relaxation…life’s all about balance, right? πŸ˜‰ Glad to hear you had a good weekend, love! Hope you’re doing well!

  15. Getting out and living is the best! I wouldn’t have gotten close enough to that snake for a pic though. πŸ˜‰

We have a bike on a stick here too! it’s on the Beltline that I will take you down if you ever come when it’s NOT raining. Maybe a new trend in yard art? You should buy one.

  16. I just needed to say that your photo collage of having a moment with your coffee was hilarious! Oh, and now I want that Hershey stuff!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks, Heather! Glad you got a laugh out of it! And seriously, you’ve been warned…that Hershey’s spread is pure CRACK! 😯

  17. I didn’t realize you lived in Clarksville. My friend used to live there and I’ve been numerous times! Been to Blackhorse once actually!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh wow, small world! Yep, Blackhorse…officially the ONLY place to take people when they visit Clarksville! But hey, at least it’s good! Haha!

  18. Sarah Pie says:

Oh my god Game of Thrones this weekend! All those eats look amazing, and that snake (as weird as this sounds) really is very cute πŸ™‚

  19. Cassie says:

My mouth is watering at the thought of a cinnamon raisin bagel with Panera Hazelnut Cream Cheese… how did I forget that existed??

  20. Sounds awesome! Going out hiking is one of my favourite things to do in the nice weather. I’m hoping to get out to the trails this upcoming weekend! I’ve never had a cinnamon raisin bagel, but I definitely love cinnamon raisin toast – it always reminds me of going to my grandma’s when I was younger.

My weekend consisted of going out to a pub for dinner, meeting a friend at WF for lunch, and an unsuccessful shopping trip. πŸ˜›

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, sorry to hear the shopping trip was unsuccessful…that happens to me all to often…unless I’m at TJ Maxx that is! Of course then I usually come home with a million other things that I “didn’t know I needed” so not really sure if you can consider it successful or not! Haha!

I may be a little weird, but even though I love cinnamon raisin TOAST, I prefer my bagels straight out of the bag…love the chew!

  21. Courtney says:

I am SOO jealous of that weather!! It SNOWED here today in London, Ontario. This weekend was pretty blahhh for me. I just studied for exams, although I did have a side of wine (or 2) as well while I caught up on my TV shows, haha. So necessary.
Every I see your sandwiches I crave one, and then realize I don’t have bread! I need to just stock up my freezer with loaves.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! You should SEE my freezer! 😯

And you know, sometimes gloomy weather weekends can be the best for recharging…that’s what I did the weekend before last…well, before I got all crazy in the kitchen that is! Lol

  22. YAY FOR COFFEEEEE! Oh man when I was sick for three weeks, I barely had a cup. I don’t think coffee is the problem… people who think coffee is a problem are the PROBLEM lol. As you can probably tell, I love coffee and I would never go back. I keep my caffeine intake healthy. Hey some people drink beer, smoke or eat too much sugar. A little moderation can’t hurt πŸ˜‰ And beautiful pics as always!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

“People who think coffee is a problem are the PROBLEM” <- Haha! Love it! And seriously, the whole moderation thing? My thoughts exactly! πŸ˜€

  23. Ahhhhh coffee freedom!! What is it about “knowing” you can have something and then not even finishing it because you made that choice?! Ya know what I mean??

  24. I’m so happy to see that you had a marvelous weekend that was out and about! That’s fantastic! ^_^

  25. I lol’ed at your coffee selfies because I did the same thing the other morning (in my bathroom while putting my face on) so I digress. But woman, I feel you. When you have the first sip of hot, sweet, creamy, lush coffee. The world stops moving, and heaven forbid something stop you from savoring every last sip. Like today for example, I was multi-tasking while putting my bags in the car for work while drinking coffee. My sweet neighbor walking her dog said, “Good morning, how are you?!” (mid-sip). I gave her the bro nod because I was so consumed in my coffee moment. Then I felt like a betch so I followed up with a fluffy morning convo. But still — coffee trumps all.

    Coffee selfies at blend? πŸ˜€

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Bahaha! The “bro nod”…oh girl, I love you! And YES to coffee selfies (among many others) at Blend! Can’t wait to meeeeeeeeet you!!

  26. Alright, I’m glad you said the snake picture was deceptive because that seriously freaked me out that you got that close to one.

The only way I get my Game of Thrones fix is through the chapter I read a week and all of the youtube clips I can scrounge up with Dany… Love her.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Yeah, he was just a teeny little thing! I’m not really scared of snakes (as long as I see them FIRST), but I’m still not going to get all up in the face of a big mama jamba! Lol

And seriously, Daenerys? I swear I have the biggest girl crush on her!

  27. ooooooo the coffee is back. Rebel.

I love how you did it YOUR way…although that snake…hmm I wonder how it would taste. πŸ˜‰

Hi from Melbourne right now! Seeing as this is the weekend (and a week from this post…eek!) I’m currently taking advantage of being the ultimate mama’s boy. It feels good to have others cook for you.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, yay!! This made me smile SO much! I swear, no matter how old we get, we’re still “the baby” in our mother’s eyes. I love it when my mama pampers me…and makes me good homecooked meals! Though I do need to see about getting her a recipe for saffron chicken! πŸ˜‰ I bet snake taste like chicken! I know alligator does! Lol
