December: The Month of ME!!

Happy New Year’s Eve!

But before we dive headfirst into 2015, it’s time to slow down and take note of some “Currentlies”. December may have gone by in a flash, had a few stresses, and been colder than hell, but it was a damn good month and deserves some appreciation. Besides, I did get some pretty rockin’ hair days out of it too! 😉

December Selfie

Current Book:

I finally hunted down, Nanny Returns, the sequel to last month’s book, at the library in hopes that it would give me some closure…don’t you hate it when books just end and you’re left with five thousand questions?! Well, as of today I’m on page 53 of 305. Whoops?

Current Music:

I’ve been a bit all over the place with music this month…Glass Animals, Alt-J, all my favorite Christmas tunes, and over the weekend, after sorting through all my old CDs, I broke out some Drowning Pool. But really, the number of times I’ve played Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t” is slightly embarrassing.

Uncensored of course…because ya know, I like to say “fuck” a lot and well, this way I get to sing it a whole NINE TIMES! 😉

Current Guilty Pleasure:

Cookbooks.

In addition to all the cookbooks gifted to me between my birthday and Christmas, I just had to go out and buy TWO MORE! But hey, the birthday bookcase/wine rack is looking pretty freaking awesome…

Birthday Bookcase

I’m throwing the idea back and forth right now to challenge myself in the new year to randomly make at least ONE recipe a week from one of these books…not a resolution but a recipe roulette if you will. We’ll see.

Current Nail NUB Color:

Nails

My nails are beyond pathetic, but earlier this month, I had hoped that my new Essie color, No More Film would help to protect my little nubbies. No such luck. BUT, I do have a recommendation from a friend that I’m going to check out called Nailtiques. Anyone ever heard of it?

Current Entertainment:

How do you pass away the gray and gloomy days of December? ALL THE NETFLIX! Since finishing off season two of The Carrie Diaries, I’ve been alternating between season three of Switched at Birth and season one of Portlandia <-HI-LARIOUS!

Current Wish/Needs:

Motivation to get back into the gym/yoga studio/anything that involves movement! I’ve become a Netflix-bingeing sloth!! 😯

Current Food:

In addition my apparent need for ALL THE CHEESE, I’ve also recently become addicted to and compelled to track down/buy/hoard…

JIF Whips Peanut Butter Collection

ALL THE JIF WHIPS!!

What can I say? I’m a total sucker for anything “limited edition”. I really have no one but myself Instagram to blame. Oh and Sara, for introducing me to ecstasy that is s’mores flavored peanut butter. And even though I can’t track it down ANYWHERE within a 50 mile radius of my little po-dunk town, I’ve decided it’s better to have loved s’mored and lost than to have never loved s’mored at all.

Current Drink:

Wine Tasting Class

Hey, I didn’t go to wine snob class for nothing! I gotta earn my stripes grapes!

Current Triumphs:

I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but TOOT TOOT! I have to say I’m pretty proud of myself for finally crossing off just about everything on my to-do list before the end of the year…now to find a damn kitchen table!

Current Bane of Existence:

The tiny little gnomes hiding inside my computer who fuck up my online purchases! I had not one, not two, but THREE payment snafus while getting all my Christmas shopping done this month. Needless to say, breakdowns ensued and can now name a couple of my gray hairs after them.

Current Blogger Crush:

Can I just say I have a crush on all you guys? Seriously, I’m STILL glowing from all your sweet, sweet comments on KMB’s birthday post! xoxo

Current Indulgence:

Besides spoiling myself and spending just about as much on ME as I did for others this year (because, umm, I deserve it…duh!), my coworkers have been spoiling me even more…

Christmas Cookies

Another year, another cookie conundrum. Of course I do give myself props for only stuffing myself silly ONCE this year!

Current Blessing:

Family, friends, health, happiness, to love, and to be loved.

Current Outfit:

Jeans

Alert the presses! Mark your calendars! Heather’s wearing PANTS!! 😯
I know, I have failed you all, but it has just been TOO damn cold for leggings…so I broke out the jeans…and have basically been living in them all month!

Current Excitement:

Call it cliché, but I’m really excited about the new year! This year turned out to be one of the best years for me…in terms of growth, maturation (except for my thirteen-year-old sense of humor), and fulfillment. I can’t wait to see what 2015 holds!

Current Mood:

Curious. Eager. Excited.

Ahhh, that was FUN! Any of you out celebrating there tonight, have fun and be safe! I’ll see ya “next year”! 😉

What is your current guilty pleasure?

What are you looking forward to in the new year?

Current guilty pleasure: audio books! I run, walk, drive , cook, clean while listening !!!

Looking forward to: my move in June!!!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh how I wish I could listen to audio books. I’ve tried multiple times, but I always seem to forget I’m supposed to be listening and zone out…or the reader’s voice gets on my nerves! Lol

  2. I love your bookcase. I especially love that it doubles as a wine rack.

Since I’m starting a new job on Monday (woo-hoo, 2015!), my current guilty pleasure is Desperate Housewives bingeing, good beer drinking and generally relaxing until then 🙂

  3. That’s such a good idea to challenge yourself to cook one recipe from a cookbook every week – you should post about it!

In 2015 I’m looking forward to getting a job and moving (the latter being dependent on the former). I just gotta make it happen!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

You know, I actually thought about you and your posts when the idea came to mind. So far, the few recipes I’ve started have gone in totally different directions, but hey, at least it’s got me back in the kitchen a bit! 🙂

  4. I agree, your bookcase/wine rack looks amazing!! Love your cookbook collection. I got The Science of Good Food for Christmas this year, and I can’t wait to dive in!

  5. Holy fuck! 9 times! I gotta listen to that one! Not around my kids obviously because, DUH I’m like responsible and stuff. 😉

I’m so jealous of all your cookbooks! Seriously those are all right up my alley, a Portlandia one??? Put a bird on it!!

Current guilty pleasure? Hrm, well it will be tonightly guilty pleasure, pass the vino! Cheers!

  6. If I could actually eat peanut butter without ending up in the ER, I’d probably be all over those JIF Whips as well. Do they make S’mores AB? Because if not, they seriously need to get on that. Or I just need to make some for myself. Now there’s an idea…

Hope you have an amazing NYE, girl! All the best in 2015 <3

  7. Oh Broccoli you stunner.

I need that bookcase/feature unit in my life and if it means buying a tonne of books to fill it, then so be it! Those peanut butters….They better still be around in 2015 when I hopefully move to America and we can do some drunk kitchen antics together.

  8. You most certainly need to earn your wine stripes. Need any help with that?

Oh and for your nails, buy Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails. You can get it any drug store, fairly cheap. It’s clear or an opaque pink and your nails will be strong like bull and grow like weeds in no time. The Nailtique stuff will work too but it’s more expensive and not necessary. I’d much rather you spend the extra cash on wine and cheese.

    Happy New Year!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh NICE!! I’ll have to check it out! I used to have some stuff from the drugstore that I loved and could really notice a difference, but all of a sudden it just stopped working. Honestly, I think it could have something to do with my diet…but that’s a whole OTHER conversation.

And you can most definitely help me out in the wine AND CHEESE departments! Omg, Blend is going to be so much freaking fun this year!

  9. Current love: that you saw my bookshelf and then decided to turn some of your cookbooks to the front! Makes my heart sing.
Girl, I’ll send you smores whever you need more. 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, yes ma’am! It took me about three tries to get an arrangement I liked, but I was definietly going off your “book store look” as I like to call it! And seriously?? S’mores hookup whenever I want? Girl, you’re too good to me! Love ya!

  10. So many good cookbooks! My sister got a copy of Thug Kitchen for Christmas, and we read through the entire thing that night. Not only is it hilarious (and entirely on point with the importance of breakfast), I would actually eat nearly every single recipe included, without making any alterations! This is entirely new cookbook-ground for me. Have you tried anything from it? Oh and My Drunk Kitchen is so cute – I like Hannah Hart a lot.

Your ring is really cool, especially with dark nails.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I haven’t made anything just yet…I kinda got hung up looking at all the pretty pictures in the Cooking Light ones! Lol! Looks like I’ll be diving headfirst into it this week tho! Thanks for the review…I’m even more excited!
