They Got What Was Comin To ‘Em!

Wow! What.a.day! Hope you guys had a great Tuesday! Thank you all for the sweet comments about my new header! And wow, you guys are pretty creative when it comes to topping that sweet tater! I’ll have to try some of those savory combos!

Well, I had the day off again today. Don’t look at me like that…this is day 2 of 3 of the “Get-Heather-Back-Together Staycation.” I’ve been so overwhelmed with the house and work lately, that I just needed some time to relax and refocus…reminds me of a post of Lindsay’s.

So the day started off pretty well! I found a whole bunch of organizing type bins and trays at Target/Wal-Mart/Lowe’s yesterday (yeah, I was on a mission) and set to work getting things together this morning. Is it just me, or does it feel like it’s easier to breathe when things are nice and neat?

Anyway…I’m working and fixin and organizing till my little heart’s content when I thought, “Oh, I think I’ll do a load of laundry in my new washing machine!” (I have no idea where that exuberance came from!)

Check it!

Come….onnnnnnnn! Seriously?!

So I did what any 26-year-old independent woman would do. I told myself it was ok that the detergent drawer didn’t open all the way, poured in my suds, started the washer, and called my Daddy! 😉

We both came to the conclusion that the laundry “room” doors would have to go. Hoooookay, not exactly ideal having to redneck engineer something already in my brand new home, but whatevs! He told me that he’d come up over the weekend and we’d figure it out.

Fast forward about 20 minutes when all of a sudden the washer starts making its way out of the laundry “room” like the Koolaid Man busting through a wall! After stopping the wash and then trying to battle with a half ton washer filled with water to get the door out of the way, there was only one thing left for this girl to do!

No, I didn’t stab my washer with a screwdriver…although it DID cross my mind!

I wish I could say it was easy, but in the process of hacking away at the removing the doors, I 1.) bent my fingernail backwards 2.) broke part of the trim at the top of where the doors were and 3.) had about 873 breakdowns in the process!

If you follow me on Twitter (and if you don’t, you totally should!), then you may have seen this tweet:

Luckily, I just redeemed a coupon for a free 2 week trial at a small gym down the road, because it was JUST what I needed.

I went in with a mission: With my iPod set to the Korn station on Pandora (which I’ll have to do more often…incredible pump!), I jumped on the treadmill first and did 3 miles in 25 minutes, then about 30 minutes of functional training with free weights (basically moves I learned from working out with Jillian and Jackie, and finished up with 30 minutes on the stationary bike where I had finally cooled down enough to enjoy a little HGTV on the mini screen!

It’s been a long time since I was able to “workout” my aggressions in a gym. I know I’m kind of going against everything I said in this post, but today, I was in my own little world and it didn’t matter if Prince William was in there, I was getting my sweat on!

Post “think about all the different ways you could kill your washing machine” workout eats:

TJ’s whole wheat wrap with homemade hummus (simply 1/4 cup chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, TJ’s 21 salute, and a little lemon juice), baby greens, zucchini, and a little tomato that I snagged at the farmer’s market yesterday with apple slices and almond butter for dipping.

And as if I couldn’t come up with enough ideas for almond butter dippage, I had a little extra after I finished my apples so I dipped my wrap in it…so delicious!

There’s something to be said about a fresh clean lunch after a long sweaty workout, is there not?

Now, before this post gets any longer (don’t leave yet!), I have a little news for ya!

Kiss My Broccoli is now on FACEBOOK!

Show pity, show love, but please like me,

I just battled it out half the day with my those doors! 😉

  2. Mrs. Fish says:

Bummer about the doors but you could probably use a spring rod and some pretty curtains as an alternative. 🙂

  3. hahaha love that you took matters into your own hands I wish I could be more domestic!

    • I wasn’t always this way. You just gotta jump in there and do it sometimes (it helps if you Google it first)! And well, it doesn’t hurt that I have a father that can fix just about any [mistake] thing!

  4. Of course I will like you. So sorry about all the washer drama. We’re still having dryer issues here. It’s not fun. I feel your pain, but I have no gym to go to, and so CD is the receiver of all my wrath. Poor boy, and to top it off, he has no more clean socks. 😉

Almond butter always makes everything better. 🙂

Get it done girl!! 21 salute I believe is the greatest seasoning ever. And I totally agree, a great fresh meal after a workout makes it all the more satisfying.

  21. oh my! haha. I get SO frustrated with little projects like that. If the washer wouldn’t open…. oooooh that door would be in trouble! Angry music included. lol

  22. Michelle says:

Phew! I’m exhausted just reading your post. Sure sounds like you had your work cut out for you but you showed those doors who is boss, haha. Way to go! And working out your frustrations is one of the healthiest ways to handle them!

  23. I feel so bad for your troubles, but I was seriously sobbing with laughter when you compared your washer to the Kool Aid Man!! Haha, what a nightmare. Hopefully everything is resolved now!

That is a seriously intense workout! Maybe I should start doing home renovations so I can get frustrated and work out at that intensity 🙂

    • If you do, just remember to STRETCH afterward! I didn’t…and I can tell! 🙁 Haha!

So glad you liked the Kool Aid Man reference! I’m laughing now just thinking about it!
