You know what I adore about you… No? Well it’s your originality in every single post you published. Everyday I never know what I’m in for and I love that!!

  2. What?! This looks insanely gooooood! I need to get a spaghetti squash, STAT! I’ll even drive the 1 hr needed to get one haha!

  3. This cake looks SO good! But… please don’t hurt me…. I tried spaghetti squash last week and did not like it at all. I found it really bitter and weird tasting! I think after eating butternut squash all my life I just couldn’t compare! How am I even allowed to be a HLB!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Bitter? That’s odd, I’ve never really thought it had much of a taste on it’s own. But yeah, it’s DEFINITELY different from a butternut!

We won’t revoke your HLB card under one condition…you have to drink a green smoothie! 😉

  4. I have an affinity for all things microwave too 😉 Great recipes Heather!

  5. Haha you are so creative with that microwave cake!!! I love spaghetti squash but I’ve never tried it like that! I do like steaming it in the microwave though because it’s so much faster!

  6. I am absolutely watching/listening to that video right now 😉 God, you are hilarious woman.

Squash in a mug cake? You definitely won points for originality on that one!

  7. Fran@BCDC says:

Thank you, Heather!!! Now I know how to cook those darned things! Now that you’ve explained it…it’s easy! Have a great weekend!

  8. Love spaghetti squash! I would never have thought of using it in a cake. I have to remember this next time I have leftover spaghetti squash!

  9. I always cool my spaghetti squash in the microwave but I never cover it. I wonder what the difference is? Must experiment!

This cake looks amazing. Your first peanut flour cake is still one of my favorites. Trying this out very soon!!! Happy strange but good!! Xoxo

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hmm, I’ve never cooked it WITHOUT covering it! Innnnnnteresting! Glad to hear you still like the original! You’re 150 cal cake is one of my favorites too! We are the micro-cake CHAMPS! Where’s our trophies?!! Haha!

  11. Purelytwins says:

now we will have that song in our head all day 😉 oh yay, such a classic too!
to be honest we have not been huge fans of spaghetti squash, not sure why, just never really got into it… but maybe we need to give it another chance 😉

  12. You take the cake for this week’s strange but good. Spaghetti squash in a mug cake is pretty strange. haha I guess that’s the point though, eh? 🙂 Happy Friday!!!

  13. I love you. I sang my way through this post.

    Now wait a minute, y’all

Seriously you made my day and kicked off my dance party a little earlier than expected this weekend.

  14. OH NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I’m now singing “push it” to myself. Over and over and over and over….
    Oh damn!!!! 🙂

  18. This mug cakes looks wicked good! You’re a genius!
    Love the song too! 😉

  19. You slay me.
Now I’m going to be singing that in my head all day.

  20. I made a mug cake with butternut squash last week! Squash really gives it a nice texture.

  21. I was just singing along – enjoying your song – seeing how you make my fav squash the spaghetti squash — then Oh Look she made a cake too – WHAaaaaaaaaaT she put the squash in the cake! no way! lol of course I’ll need to try that now. Have a fabulous day!

  22. Emily says:

You are adorable. End of story.

  23. No way!! I never would have thought of making a mug cake with spaghetti squash, that is so creative!! I don’t know how people manage to cut it open raw without killing themselves though. I always stab it a few times, throw it in the microwave for 12 minutes and then cut it open when it’s nice and soft 🙂

  24. OMGosh! You left a comment about PB&J spaghetti squash on my blog, so just the other day I took a bowl of cooked squash and mixed it with a heaping T of peanut flour, and then placed a dollop of jam on top. That’s what I thought you were describing! lol. It was good, but this recipe looks BETTER! 🙂 Have a great weekend!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, that is one of my favorite things to do with spaghetti squash!!! I’m so glad to hear you like it too…I get the strangest looks when I tell “normal” people about it! Haha! But yeah, the cake? Even better! And heck, only takes a couple minutes more to put together! Win! 😀

  25. Sarah says:

I LOVE spaghetti squash cakes!! This is amazing and I have some baked spaghetti squash waiting to be used!! I will definitely have to try this!

  26. I NEED TO MAKE THIS NOW!!! That looks great. I remember ages ago I said I didn’t have peanut flour and you replied with a link for where I could buy it that ships to Australia. I’ve lost the link, any chance you can post it again? 🙂

  27. Amanda says:

I love spaghetti squash! Although I haven’t had any in awhile. I love buying my squash at tjs because they just charge you per squash instead of by the pound. PS: now you’ve got some 90s jams stuck in my head 😉

  28. I wonder what it says about me when I start singing the song in my head from the title alone? Probably that I’m a little crazy, but that’s Ok! 🙂

  29. Kat says:

Seriously, you’re cuter than cute. You’re the cutest 🙂
Spag squash is my favorite!! I love those little strings.

  30. Mug cakes–opening a whole new world to me!

I loved this post, Heather, both the music, the photos, and the recipe. Nice job!

I’m going to have to play around with mug cakes this summer.

  31. I love spaghetti squash. I have never had it in a muffin, so I’ve got to try this! Plus, it is gluten free and dairy free… I think you love me! 😉

  32. Rach says:

You wrote a song for your spaghetti squash?! Hilarious! I love it!

  33. That mug cake and your angelic singing was just the cherry on top of my wonderful Saturday night! Cake and veggies? Who would have ever thought? GENIUS, Heather! I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

  36. WHY?! WHY did I just polish off the rest of my cooked spaghetti squash last night?!?!

Good thing I now know how to cook it in the microwave. 😉

  37. Gina says:

Do the strands of squash stay intact in the cake?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yes, but it’s hardly noticeable. If you prefer though, you can puree the squash before mixing it with the other ingredients! 🙂
