YoPLAIT Day!

Title to be read as follows:

Yoplait Blended Greek Sampling

Yo’ PLAY day!!!

I only WISH I could take credit for such incredible wit, but alas, I owe it all to Aly! 😉

And a PLAY day it was!

From the tour of the General Mills headquarters to the exploring of the photography prop closet…from the sampling of Yoplait’s new blended Greek to the homemade fro-yo bar complete with every topping imagineable…from the structured interview scenes to the moment they let me run WILD in the Betty Crocker kitchen…I have to say, by the end of the day,

Yoplait Hotel CrashI was SPENT!

…Thoroughly bubble-bathed, wrapped in a fluffy robe, propped up by feather pillows and ready to spend my night with free HBO The Food Network!

But as tired as I was, I’d do it again in a HEARTBEAT! So surely, you’ll allow me a minute (or quite a few of them, depending on how fast you read) to relive my Christmas morning…I mean, I’m sure you guys are at least a LITTLE curious about how the weather was that day that mind-boggling fro-yo bar, right? 😉

Yoplait Day 1

The morning started early…I woke up at 7am after about four hours of sleep (damn you night shift!), took a pic of my pretty lil’ self (and the modest award goes too…), and stood to ponder the hotel’s choice in artwork (obviously a male designer…never satisfied with just a handful! ;)) before heading downstairs to be driven to headquarters.

Shortly after arriving, we met with the CEO of Yoplait and toured several of the floors learning more about the history of the General Mills division.

Yoplait Breakfast BuffetAfter our tour, we were presented with a buffet-style breakfast…fresh blueberry muffins, yogurt with berries, and crunchy granola, eggs, crispy bacon, and COFFEEEEEEEE…which you know, was acknowledged WORSHIPPED…oh and look, Brianne decided to match the decor! 😉

As we nibbled on our plates, the camera crew geared up to tape our meetings with some of the behind-the-scenes peeps at Yoplait…VIPS if you will since they were all responsible for the launch of the newest yogurt line.

And speaking of yogurt…afterwards, it was time for some SAMPLING!

COCONUTTTTT! 😀

Yoplait Greek 2

I don’t normally buy flavored yogurt…unless we’re talking CRACK…since it tends to be too sweet for me. Knowing that and having tasted some of Yoplait’s Greek 100 in the past, I’ll be honest, my expectations weren’t that high. I did find the berry-flavored ones to be a bit sweeter than the rest, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I could handle the others. I was also surprised SHOCKED to see that they fit the bill in the thickness category…because let’s face it,

If it ain’t THICK, it ain’t GREEK!

We sampled all six flavors along with the plain base (which I’m hoping they push onto the shelves because it was great!) and then went along playing and mixing flavors in true foodie fashion…oh, and for the record,

Coconut + any flavor = Smack Yo’ Mama Good! 😉

After we just about OD’d on thick and creamy yogurt deliciousness, we had the chance to look around the main floor…

We checked out the gym…

More than just for looks…they actually hold CLASSES! 😯

We snuck a peek at the General Mills Store (think convenience store filled to the brim with cereal, cookies, baking mixes, cereal, chips, snack bars, cereal, soups, yogurt, and did I mention CEREAL?!

Um, basically, you I could friggin’ LIVE in there!)

We walked past what we later found out to be the largest Caribou Coffee in the NATION!

And then I LITERALLY jumped a foot off the floor when we spotted
THE Betty Crocker Kitchen!

Once back with the group, it was time for MORE FOOD delivered by The French Bakery!

Fish TacosI chose the fish tacos (of course), but once I sat down, I decided to hold on to it for later when I realized I was still pretty full from sampling…or at least that’s what I THOUGHT my reason was!

Lo and behold the fro-yo Gods were signaling me because shortly after lunch, Katie, Brianne, and I were ushered over to the Betty Crocker Kitchen to meet the staff who just happened to have THIS waiting for us…

Yoplait Froyo Bar

FRO-YO FO SHO!!

What can I say, homemade fro-yo and UNLIMITED toppings brings out the gangsta in me! And can we take a minute to appreciate the fact that they put out the Golden Grahams and Cinnamon Toast Crunch JUST for this cereal killer right hurrrr?!?!

See?…I’m tellin’ ya…totally gangsta!

*I may or may not be throwing up made up gang signs right now*

Yoplait Froyo Bowl

Fro-yizzle my pizzles!

After we got to know the ladies of the kitchen over our bowls of fro-yizzle, we donned the signature red aprons and set out to channel Betty herself…but since I’m OBVIOUSLY a bit delirious and in need of sleep at the moment, that story will just have to wait until tomorrow…

Nighty night!

Day-ty day?

Peace out, homies! 😉

  1. Looks so much fun!! when i was younger* and someone would ask me what i wanted to do with my life iwould say “food taster” (*by younger i mean this happened the other day. i think it would be the coolest job) so i am very jealous of your day! also, is there anything better than a breakfast buffet? i submit that there is not.

Haha! Love it! It was so funny, when we were talking to some of the ladies in the kitchen, they brought up the topic of tasting for the Betty Crocker cook-off competition coming up in a couple of months and were telling us how they have to sample like 100 different recipes! They actually use spit cups just like in wine tasting events! I never thought about that until they said something…yeah, I’d just be the 300 pound porker in the corner going, “uh, wait you mean we don’t have to eat EVERYTHING??” Bahaha!

  2. Fo shizzle is RIGHT. That froyo needs to hop off of the computer screen and into my hungry little mouth.

  3. Sooo awesome!!! Looks like such a great experience 😀

  4. SO amazing!!! And I can’t wait to get my hands on that coconut!! And top it with cinnamon toast crunch 😉

    • kissmybroccoli says:

And this, m’dear is why you should leave your man and marry me! I can give you deliciously thick coconut yogurt…what’s he got on THAT?! Wait…don’t answer that! 😉

  5. Such a FUN day!! I’d die to try that coconut greek yogurt!!

  6. Oh dear me, that definitely sounds like Christmas morning! It all sounds incredible! That convenience store?! The fro yo?! Wow.
I totally agree with you on the ‘if it ain’t thick it ain’t greek’ front though; I cannot stand it when I go to buy Greek yoghurt..open it and find that its ridiculously runny!

  7. Wow what an awesome experience!!! I loved reading about it. Was the fro yo you had Yoplait brand?

Also that looks like the best place to work ever – I would have so much fun in that test kitchen! Hey Yoplait, if you’re looking for an RD a year from now, call me! 😉

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yep! It’s a new line from them…totally different from the Yoplait Greek 100! It’s a blended formula and it’s made to not be overly sweet…and for a fat free yogurt, it is SO thick! I am definitely a fan! And seriously, after the day was half over, I was like, I’ve GOT to get a job here! haha! The people just looked so happy…omg, it’s the exact OPPOSITE from working at the hospital! Sick people = not so friendly people! 🙁

  8. That kitchen is freaking baller. I need it in my house. It wouldn’t fit but I. Would. Make. It. =)

  9. Thanks for the shout out!! 🙂 Sounds like you definitely did “play” (or plait? 😉 I am sooooo jealous of your hotel room- it all looks so glamorous!

  10. Looks like an awesome start to the trip! Any sort of froyo bar is amazing…and I kind of live for breakfast buffets. They’re just so much more fun than any other kind of buffet!

  11. That kitchen is huge and totally gorgeous. I think that first picture with the purple yogurt is totally awesome-looking too. What flavor is that? The color is just stunning!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

That would be the blueberry! And I have Instagram to thank for that amazing-looking color! Love the Lo-Fi filter! 😀

  12. This makes me miss yogurt! Looks like a delicious trip!

  13. So amazingly fun! Glad you had such a great trip. And seriously Golden Grahams were ALWAYS a favorite and I only got it when I was sick at grandmas… 🙁 haha

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ha! Better than my childhood…my dad would buy them and then hide them from us because they were HIS favorite! Lol

  14. Oh wow! Your yogurt bowl looks amazeballs! I think I would grab all the coconut and head for the door! Sounds so good and looks like you had a blast! I want to work in that building for sure!

  15. Woah looks like you had such a fun and amazing day. I hope they bring that coconut greek yoghurt out here to Australia as it sounds AMAZING!!! 🙂

  16. Oh I wish I had have been right there with you! It looks like you had SO much fun! Oh to have somewhere like this in Australia!!

  17. Pretty lil’ self? I agree – you look great in that picture!
It sounds like you had an absolutely amazing Yo’play day[te] and you know I have a hard time hiding my jealousy. Or actually, I can’t. Do you think you might somehow convince Yolplait to expand their Greek yogurt range to Germany?
Just one little note: Did you somehow forget to mention cereal in your post?! But well, I guess we all know you think cereal is way overrated in anyway ;).

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ahhh! Yo’play day[te]!! LOVE IT!! And I love YOU!! xoxox

But seriously? What is it with so many companies and holding out on you guys over there?! We need to start an international yogurt petition!!

      • Absolutely! We’re pretty much starving in terms of Greek yogurt, nut butters, Popchips, … over here. Bring on the petitions and a pen – I’m ready to sign [almost] everything ;).

  18. One of my best friends from college worked for General Mills for a while, and she always loved visiting headquarters. Now I see why! 🙂

I have some of the new YoGreek being delivered to me, and I think I requested coconut…but I can’t remember. Oops.
