Sunshine Sunday

Happy Sunday, loves!

I hope you are all having a wonderfully relaxing weekend!

Last week, I was nominated by not one, but TWO lovely ladies, Lucie and Carly, for the Sunshine Award! These two women are both incredibly strong, beautiful and have amazingly inspiring life stories. Lucie is a whiz at quick and easy meals and Carly will have you wanting to pee your pants before you finish the first paragraph…guaranteed! All I gotta say is if you don’t know these ladies already, you need to change that ASAP!

Sunshine-Award

Since I’m vacationing it up in Florrrrrrrida this week, this award really couldn’t have come at a better time…thanks ladies! 😀

So let’s do this!

Rules:
1. Include award logo in a post or on your blog.
2.  Link to the person who nominated you.
3.  Answer 10 questions about yourself.
4.  Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award.

Of course, SINCE I’m on vacation, I think it’s only fair that I get to bend the rules a bit so I’m going to answer FIVE questions from each and then tag ALL of you! Sound good? Yeah, I thought so! 😉

From Lucie:

1. If someone would produce a movie about you, who would you want to play your role?

Emma Stone…I think she is gorgeous and I absolutely LOVE her dry sense of humor! Bonus points if Ryan Gosling plays the man-friend! Wait…I mean, can I play myself? 😉

2. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

Since my days can get a little scary what with the night shift and my on and off bouts with insomnia, I sat down a couple of weeks ago and developed a little morning routine that I started last week:

Wake up
Drink a glass of cold water
Stretch

I mentioned last week how I’ve been struggling to find my motivation to get back in the gym and I think it was because I was starting the day with the wrong attitude (as in I “have” to or “need to” go to the gym). I’m happy to report that since I started doing these things last week, my energy has been SO much better and I’ve actually WANTED to go to the gym and just move my body! 🙂

3. What was your career aspiration when you were a kid?

For the longest time, I wanted to be a teacher…until I realized I didn’t really like kids. Then I wanted to be a vet…until I realized that I didn’t really like blood and guts. Finally,  in college, I decided to be an x-ray tech and have only recently realized that it solved both my problems: I’ve had the opportunity to teach new techs how to do the job AND the blood and guts are kept to a minimum! 😉

4. Where is your favorite place in this world?

The ParkHonestly, I haven’t traveled NEARLY as much as I want so I feel I can’t answer this question with complete sincerity. But no matter where I am, I’m happiest when I’m outdoors in the fresh air!

5. And which place do you dream of visiting one day?

EUROPE! I plan to eat my way through the country…starting with GREECE! 😉

From Carly:

1. Do you prefer grocery shopping or clothes shopping?

Shopping Definitely food shopping…although you’d think otherwise after seeing all the things I just “had” to buy before leaving for Florida! Lol

2. What’s your favorite way to show somebody that you love them?

I’ve talked about it before, I’ve always shown love through cooking and baking for others. I just love to see someone’s face light up when they take a bite of something I’ve made and I take a lot of pride in the things that I create for them…need I remind you of the
SEX cake? 😉

3. Are you more like your mom, your dad, or neither?

Me & Dad

Not only do I look a like my dad (thanks for the gorgeous green peepers, Pop!), but I also have adopted a lot of his traits throughout my life…including his sense of humor, his way of getting “shit” done, and well, since he used to be a sailor, I guess that could explain my usual use of “slang”! 😉

4. If you could listen to one band/singer for the rest of your life, who would it be?

Oh my gosh, this is a hard one! My taste in music is always changing, but I will say the one band that has pretty much remained a constant in my life has been The All-American Rejects…I never have to listen to their albums before buying them!

5. Do you have any tattoos or piercings? If so, where? If not, would you ever get one?

I don’t have any tattoos, but I do have six piercings: two in each ear, my navel, and my nose…which is one that actually has sentimental reasons behind it since it was one of the things I did for ME after my divorce.

BONUS: If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Please, I already HAVE a superpower

Superhero PancakesAnd maybe I’ll eventually get back to my ways of “saving the world” again soon…

One pancake at a time! 😉

  1. I couldn’t agree more with Emma Stone, I seriously love her sense of humor. she would be a great one. I hate to say it, while I look like my mom I tend to have a lot of my dad’s traits like stubbornness and sarcasm. Happy Sunday!

  2. I love Emna Stone too! She is like the new and improved Lindsay Lohan.

I have my dads practical nature and sense of humor combined with my mums type a organizational tendencies 🙂

  3. Haha I definitely agree with your Emma Stone pick! And I actually got my nose pierced after I got out of a bad relationship…I love how our way to do something for ourselves is to put a hole in our face 😉

Haha! Well, I think it’s better than the alternative that I was considering at the time…cutting all my hair off and dying it platinum blonde! Pretty sure I would have woken up the next day and balled my eyes out with that one!

  4. I would love to go to Europe one day too. But I’m starting off in Italy (;

  5. Adore Emma Stone <3 And holy smokes is she definitely a good choice for you. Also, what is it about thinking that we -have- to do something that immediately makes us want to go against it? Rebels without causes, I swear 😉

    Happy Sunday, lovely lady!

  6. I’m totally with you – I’m happiest when I’m outdoors too. Especially when it’s someplace secluded, like out on a lake in the middle of nowhere!

I’m dying to go to Europe too. France and Italy are my top two places I want to visit, but I’ll meet ya in Greece afterwards? 😉

  7. Lucie says:

Haha, well if Ryan Gosling is the man-friend, then I want the role too 🙂 Emma Stone is the perfect pick for you!
And yes please, COME to Europe!! I swear, Switzerland has some amazing food to offer too, and also…..ME! Haha, enjoy your vacation my dear!!

  8. I can totally see you as Emma Stone. It’s a good fit, especially with Ryan Gosling as your leading man. Swooon. Um also? I love that your nose ring has some sentimental value. Other than my ears, my only piercing is my belly button. The only meaning behind that is that I was 16 and wanted to be sexy and cool, and obviously a navel ring helps you achieve that. Hahahahaha!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Totally the same reason I got my navel pierced! Of course, my parents (read: my DAD) wouldn’t let me until I turned 18 so of course that was like the FIRST thing I did on my birthday and then showed it off and made everyone pity me and my swollen belly button for the rest of the day. Birthday wishes AND sympathy? I’ll TAKE IT! Lol

      Mmm, Ryan Gosling! #yum 😉

  9. Loved it! Emma Stone would be PERFECT for you!

  10. A pancake teaser huh…does this mean they’re back on the menu. Maybe just an occasional thing. Perhaps?
I’ve always wanted to get my nose pierced; just a teeny diamond stud, but it would never fly at work. I have eaten my way through Greece though…and Brussels…and Croatia…and New Orleans…and St. Martin’s…and Cozumel…and Puerto Rico…and Portland…and Las Vegas…and North Caroline…and Toronto. Yep, I’ve done my share of eating. Go travel. You will love it.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, no…they haven’t made it back on the menu just yet, but want is starting to come back ever so slowly. I’ve got some Frontier Flapjack mix to review so maybe I’ll ease my way back into the pancake world with that! A tiny little stud would look so cute on you…find the right size and everyone will just think it’s a fleck of glitter from your makeup! 😉 And I’m SO envious of all your travels (and I’m sure you’ve got some pretty killer stories to put along with them!). I’m definitely starting to get out and see more these days…and I can’t wait to see you in A MONTH!! Yippeeeeeee!
