Hey guys and Happy Halloween!

Even better if the bacon is IN the vodka…I’m sure Laura would approve of this!

But seriously, I hope you all have a fun AND safe holiday…since it’s the end of the month (how the hell did that happen so fast?!), it’s time for another round of Currentlies…currentli?…umm, things I’ve been obsessing over for the last thirty-one days!

Current Book:

Book

I actually JUST finished reading the Gifts of Imperfection last night (after two days of page-flying while walking around my neighborhood…oh yeah, Heather’s got skills!) and let.me.tell.you, this is one of the BEST books I’ve ever read. I have to say the first half was hard to get into, especially since some of the points were uncomfortable for me (read: hit too close to home), but after I sucked it up and got over myself, I LOVED it!

Current Music:

I wasn’t a fan of it the first half-dozen times it came on the radio, but this song has really grown on me…even though I have no idea what she’s talking about! Ha! But seriously, can you believe this girl’s only SIXTEEN!?

Current Guilty Pleasure:

Tuckers Crackers Big Lots Buying more things to stuff in my pantry while I keep TRYING to clean it out! For the record, it was THE MAN-FRIEND’S idea to go to Big Lots last weekend…therefore I am not to be held accountable for these crackers (that I obviously had to get one of each flavor) coming home with me along with my bargain wall art!

Current Nail Color:

Still sporting some pitiful-looking digits but I think they’re finally starting to grow and should be worthy of festive fall color soon…somebody please come give me this turkey manicure!

Current Drink:

Ok, so I know I’m a bit late to the game on this one, but WHY did no one bother to tell me about the insane deliciousness that is LaCroix sparking water?! I wasn’t too impressed with the lemon or lime, but the orang, grapefruit, and peach pear are INSANE…and now I’ve GOT to get my hands on the coconut one!

Current Food:

Sweet Potato

Pretty sure last night’s dinner epitomizes my latest food obsessions: sweet potato with cinnamon, Greek yogurt, healthy chocolate sauce (cocoa power + water + stevia), and a fistful of homemade crack trail mix!

Current Favorite Show:

Of course, I’m still staying true to my girl Zooey, but I have to say I was jumping for joy (quite literally) when I spotted new episodes of Switched at Birth on the man-friend’s Netflix que…and even happier that he volunteered to watch it with me sit next to me on the couch and play on Facebook! 😉

Current Wish List:

A scanner…or for someone techy to come over and wave a magic wand floppy disk? over my printer/scanner and make it work with my Mac! I got it back in 2005 (which I know, is like 4000 years ago in computer years) and used the scanning feature ONCE with my old PC but now I can’t seem to figure out how to get it to work…and I have like four hundred and thirty-seven old pics that I want to share on the blog, but can’t!

Current Needs:

It’s been a week and I’m going through man-friend hug withdrawals, but lucky for me, I’ll be seeing him later tonight because I got someone to take my call! Woop woop!

Current Triumphs:

Nut Butter Jars

Making my nut butter collection my b!tch! More on that tomorrow! 😉

Current Bane of Existence:

My body…I fully believe, with every ounce of my being, that my warranty has indeed expired. If it’s not my knee, then it’s my hip, or my back, or my head…oh my god, just shoot me and carry me off to the glue factory already!

Current Celebrity Crush:

I didn’t have anyone in mind this month, that is until Arman plastered Mr. Magic Abs all over his blog the other day…mmm, Tatum Channing Channing Tatum…please tell me I’m not the only one who gets confused!

-Channing-Tatum-3-channing-tatum-33202381-500-627[source]

So I can’t even BEGIN to tell you what this picture does for me…yeah, I think I’m going through a bit more than hug withdrawals…if ya know what I mean!

Current Indulgence:

Massage

Yes, again! Please note the above statement on body warranty…consider this my monthly tune up! Believe me, when the masseuse looks at you after the session like he just ran over your dog, you KNOW you were in desperate need!

Current Blessing:

The fact, even though I JUST had a massage less than two weeks ago, that I can AFFORD to indulge myself with little treats like this…because Lord knows it does wonders for my mind, body, AND soul!

Current Slang:

I called my girl Melissa a crazy CRACKER the other day…but for good reason…check out what she did with these Ritz…0h my @$(^%@@$, right?

Current Outfit:

Me-Halloween Scrubs

Recycled pic (my hair is ALMOST that long again!), but hey, Halloween only comes once a year so I have to make the most out of my festive little scrub top!

Current Excitement:

Yesterday’s workout…scrubbing the tub/shower on my hands and knees. I know, I know…why in the hell would I be excited about that? Well, it’s because I’m getting visitors! This weekend I will have not only open my home to one crazy cracker but also my ginger twin too! Gahhhh!

Current Link:

Did you catch the guest post I did for my blend, Amanda? If not, you should tooooootally check it out…because it took me FOREVER to type AND there’s some good tips/advice/insight from me about blogging!

Current Mood:

Surprised…I just finished this post in UNDER two hours! 😯

What is your current guilty pleasure?

Favorite song?

  1. I love that Lorde song too and the other one Tennis Court. And Britney’s work bitch because its Britney and I will always <3 her no shame at all!!

Love your festive scrubs! You should wear them more often. Your sweet potato dinner is a great idea I will have to try it. As well as picking up that book!

By the way so jealous you got to be an actual cheerleader and got the uniform and everything 😉

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ha! Well, I still have it so if you know….you’re ever in the neighborhood and feel like playing dress up and eating pancakes, you know who to call! 😉

  2. that’s my favourite song too 😀 me and eddie dance to it every morning baha! it is theeeee best at the moment IMO 🙂 and cute scrubs 😉 always love these posts babe xoxo enjoy your weekend with friends xo

  3. Jessie says:

please don’t hate me – but I don’t find Channing Tatum too be that gorgeous… with an exception of those killer abs. Oh my, those make me melt!

  4. I’m digging Lorde too! I am loving her song Bravado. So good! Current guilty pleasure is everything from my favourite crack dealer commonly referred to as Trader Joe’s. Those chocolate covered sea salt almonds are qgfiwuelgfwigfuel. No words. Also I would be honoured if you called me your pickle. Maybe one day I’ll show you the photoshoot I did in The Pickle Guys in NYC. They were like who is this freak of nature taking pictures with all of our pickles?!? It was heaven on earth!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, wait…they have a pickle store? Like an actual STORE?! I just thought it was a web-based store that you linked to last week! That’s awesome…I would have been in there for hours! Haha

Chocolate covered sea salt almonds?! Gah, why didn’t I read this comment BEFORE going to TJ’s this weekend?! Wahhhh!

  5. “oh my god, just shoot me and carry me off to the glue factory already!” HAHAHA I love you. You make me laugh. And you’re nice. I’m 5 years old?

But seriously, I just told Arman I’m going to write a book with all of his funny one-liners, and clearly, you need to be in there too.

  6. Don’t hate me but… I just can’t get into that Lorde song. I think she’s got mad skills for only being 16, but it’s just not my type of music. And my mind is drawing a blank when it comes to what my favourite song actually is, so I’ll tell you the one that’s stuck in my head instead — This is Halloween from Nightmare Before Christmas

    Happy Halloween!!

  7. sara @ fitcupcaker says:

that sweet potato looks phenomenal!! Great idea with the trail mix! Happy Halloween!

  8. Is it weird I have never even heard of that Lordes person before? And I have never heard that song!! I think I should be arrested because I am in the entertainment industry, LOL!!! What do you think of Lana Del Rey? I did a spoof video on her summertime sadness video 😉

HAPPY HALLOWEEN… Hopefully you’ll get some mini vodka bottles if you ring some doorbells tonight!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I’ve never been a fan of Lana Del Ray…I don’t know what it is, but that song is so annoying! Ha! Guess I should check out your video!

  9. Yeah! I’ll be your cracker! Haha
Hey girl! That LaCroix?! So my mom hooooooked me on it about 5 (maybe 6) years ago? I LOVE it! The orange was the only flavor I loved…then the coconut! Holy shnikes! And the raspberry and the grapefruit are bomb too. They were everywhere when my parents lived in Chicago, and I could never get them at home, so I used to drive home trunks full of it! Now I’m SO glad I can find it in my stores!

  10. Julie says:

I love that song! And I totally agree with the idea of an adult Halloween!

  11. Isn’t La Croix fantastic?? I LOVE the orange flavor! Also, that sweet potato looks like pure amazingness. You should def add in some almond butter next time! 😉

  12. Goodness so many things on this post…hmm…first of all, I was the exact same with that Lourdes song!! It was annoying, then okay, now I kinda like it haha.

That book is now on my Amazon wish list. Sounds like something I need to read (even if it is uncomfortable)!

And ohmygosh you get to hang out with Sarah! So jealous!!

And thanks for giving me ANOTHER blog to read (treats with a twist). Happy Halloween! 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yes, it’s definitely a book I would recommend! I actually lent it to Melissa this weekend so I can’t wait to hear her thoughts on it. And she’s MUCH faster reader than me, so I’m sure I won’t have to wait that long! Haha! Oh and just a warning, don’t go read her blog a couple of days before that time of the month…she’ll have you faceplanting in a bowl of cookie dough in no time! Lol

  13. Haha buying new foods is seriously my guilty pleasure too. It needs to stop though… my pantry is getting RIDICULOUS! Also getting ridiculous is this new latte habit I’ve developed. My wallet is hating me.

  14. Current Guilty Pleasure? Netflix/Hulu. As always. Have you ever watched Arrow? Uh… Awesome. Total eye candy. And a pretty good story too. Ha. 😀

Sometimes my posts stretch out forever when I’m writing them. 2 Hours is impressive 🙂

Must check out your blogging post!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hmmm, I haven’t heard of that one…but I’m never one to pass up good eye candy! Off to check it out now! 🙂

  15. Um…that sweet potato has so much going on it should be borderline illegal.

Can you pass your talents of reading AND walking at the same time? I can barely do one properly.

My favourite song at the moment has to be Tennis Courts by Lorde- I wasn’t a fan at the start (Royal made me want to throw a textbook at her) but I’m warming up. And she’s also across the pond, in NZ!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I STILL don’t really understand how I can do it…especially since I have a hard time walking up stairs and chewing gum at the same time…ZEEEEEE-RO coordination!

I’ll have to check out that new song…don’t think I’ve heard it! And I was WONDERING where her accent was from!

  16. purelytwins says:

current guilty pleasure has been eating extra chocolate lately 🙂

  17. I want that sweet potato. And I want to come hang with you girls!!! So much fun!

Current indulgence: weekly massages. I need it right now. And am so, so thankful it’s a possibility.

  18. Ok, so at the picture of the cracker boxes at first glance I thought the one in the middle said ‘dog biscuits’ instead of ‘dessert biscuits’ and I freaked out a little. But then I looked again and it made more sense 😉
And I’ve never been all that into Channing Tatum, to be honest. When I saw Magic Mike I was more focused on Joe Manganiello! 😉

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Bahaha! I’m willing to try just about anything, but I THINK I know where to draw the line! 😉 And oh yeah, I will definitely say that the werewolf did a little more for me in Magic Mike too! 😉

  19. Haha I’m pretty sure Royals is kind of like a rebuttal to the whole Kim Kardashian/wealthy lifestyle. And it definitely grew on me also. Those cracker flavors are insane…ALMOST as insane as that sweet potato.

  20. All I have to say is HOLY CRAP that sweet potato… Geez Louise that looks beautiful!
Okay, that’s not all I have to say. I love the Lorde song too- but it hooked my from the first time I heard it. And I don’t hear it THAT often so I’m not sick of it yet. 🙂
I got deep tissue every two weeks for the last 4 years- right up until I moved. I JUST went back and got my first massage as a CO resident last week and the therapist had her work cut out for her! It’s definitely a necessity (even if it hurts so good!).

    • kissmybroccoli says:

“It’s definitely a necessity (even if it hurts so good!)” <- AaaaaaaaMEN! I think I will actually be making it more of a habit so that it doesn't hurt quite as much when I'm only going once a month or less! It's especially nice to go in and lay on a warm massage table too...anything to get my mind off the cold weather! Ha!

  21. That sweet potato… looks amazing!!! Seeing all those empty nut butter jars is making me envious… my collection has seriously waned down to two PB & 1 almond butter – yikes!! Since I’m doing whole 30 right now, I can only eat the AB. Oh well.
Going to go check out your guest post now. 🙂 happy Friday!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh wow, that’s impressive, girlie…especially since I know you’re just as much of a nut butter addict as I am! So tell me, have you started the countdown to when you can have a spoonful of Cookie Nookie again…I’m assuming that IS one of your two peanut butter jars! 😉

  22. Rachel says:

    How do you roast chickpeas??

  23. You read while you walk? I knew there was a reason why I love your blog so much.
    kidding.
I’ve currently got the largest jar of peanut butter I can find in Taiwan in my cabinet. I’m worried what I’ll do when I run out- it’s expensive! I never quite understood how people make their little jars last so long….

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Yep, I surprised the heck out of myself when I realized I could do it since I am like the clumsiest person I know, but well, I haven’t fallen off the sidewalk yet! 😉

The ONLY way I can make my jars last a while is because of that…the fact that they are PLURAL! I had so many at one point that it seemed almost impossible that I would ever finish one! Haha! But now that I’ve whittled down my stash, I’m going to start making my own…ONE flavor at a time! 😀

  24. it’s Tatum! it’s Channing! you are not the only one…i thought i was the only one 😀

  25. Of course you went sweet potato on me. That looks so decadent and wonderful. Good god woman, you have a way with spuds. Speaking of studs, I hope you got some quality time with the Man Friend. I can’t wait to see how you smashed those nut butter jars.
Oh and of course I’m curious about which bits of the book hit too close to home….I’m sure you’ll share if and when your ready.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, glad you approve of some of my finest foodporn! 😉

I definitely plan on mentioning a couple of things about the book in one of my “thoughts” posts, but I still need to wrap my head around some things first…it wasn’t a very long book, but man, did they cram it full!

  26. Obsessed with that song. Whenever I sing it, I feel super cool. I don’t know what it’s about either, but I DO know that I would like a tiger on a gold leash. You work those H-weenie scrubs like nobody’s business, SEXY LADY!
